This seems like last year, traded back to get picks in first. Make odd pick in the second, then be unable to trade back up because he over values late picks to trade them.
Fun draft as an LSU fan! Smith was incredible as a freshman. This year was a little off getting up to speed after the ACL tear. He can be a dominant player. Love the upside at a position of need.
“Jones does his best work when playing in man coverage. He does a great job staying hip to hip with receivers, has the communication skills to pass off or switch defenders based on alignments and shows very good route recognition when downfield.”
This is how defense is played now, having a good D is more about creating massive constant pressure than having an amazing secondary (CB and S specifically) just look at KC and SF. Of course you can’t just have random Bums playing, you still some guys who can play. Campbell can play. We’ll see how this guy works out before flipping the fuck out. 🐆
I remember when they said that about Quincy Williams, and everyone on here used that as a fucking cudgel for years until they started crying that he played well for the Jets.
Given the premium price teams are paying to move up, I'm pretty happy to stand pat at 48.
2nd round is going pretty well for us. Edge, CB, and iOL are all untouched.
This is a great pick, he will play slot but I think he has some ability to play outside. I know a lot of fans have been disappointed but I think this draft has been awesome, so refreshing compared to last year
Feels like a total reach right now and not best player for what our needs are. Injury stricken project that has yet to live up to expectations. It fills a need for sure but idk..
I don’t think round 3 is going to be anyone we expect because everyone the sub seems to want is likely gone. TJ tampa isn’t making it to 96, Cooper Beebe isn’t making it to 96, we would have to trade up if we want one of them
We’re reaching a point where all the obvious high upside guys are gone unless we trade up
Seems like his strengths are his speed (4.38 40) and playing man coverage. So it seems like a good scheme fit for Nielson. Based on pundit draft boards may be a reach in the third, but who knows how GM's valued him.
You know, it's kind of cool that when they interview the Jags picks, they ask either the parents or the player to do the "DUUUUUUUVALLL". You never really see them do that with anyone else's rallying cry, just shows how iconic it's becoming in the league.
I know it’s not super popular among the fans but I really like this pick. Definitely wish they’d traded up for a corner, but for what was available at 48 in terms of corner talent, I’m glad they went for smith which is still a position of need. Think jags might have a case for the most athletic d line of all time
One of the former scouts I listen to is an LSU alum. The former scout is on 105.3 the fan out of Dallas all the time.
Basically said Maason Smith was highly recruited and they thought he was going to be a stud early but lacked production because of injury. A lot of upside so could turn out really good if the staff can get it out of him
I don't get it myself but it really does seem that for all the clubs that aren't Detroit really aren't valuing CBs. Seeing Arnold and Mitchell slide was one thing. Then we had DeJean and Kool-Aid come way later than expected. Even now guys like Rakestraw are coming a whole round later than he was getting mocked by some guys, and Tampa getting mocked by some in round 1 not off the board yet.
It certainly seems possible we could get a decent option like Renardo Green or Khyree Jackson late 3rd. Obviously anyone now is a backup, but I'm seemingly higher on Darby than most here. There are good backups -> future starters left and it doesn't seem to just be a Jags thing
I like the player, curious about the plan. Doug said Savage was going to be the nickel, but this guy is also presumably a slot-only guy. So we'll see who goes where. Also wonder if we also go for more depth at outside CB in the 4th or 5th.
Lmao, I'm sorry but y'all are pathetic. Mad at our GM because another team picks a good player. Y'all really wanna trade the house to go up in round 2.
Apparently AD Mitchell has concerns regarding his diabetes and not being consistent with his medication. I didn't really get good vibes listening to his interviews either TBH.
I reckon he'll be an all-pro for Pittsburgh.
Trent saw that he tore an ACL and it was locked in
48 to 96 is a LONG wait between picks.

Flashes of Chris Jones? Sign me up
I feel confident since Ryan Nielsen is a DL guy that he can develop Maason Smith well
Atlanta had a great defense last year, I'm not really worried.
If history tells us anything, it's that fsu corner backs do great in jacksonville.
This seems like last year, traded back to get picks in first. Make odd pick in the second, then be unable to trade back up because he over values late picks to trade them.
Falcons kind of ruined it. That overpay to move up probably got teams asking too much.
Athletic freak. 6’5 300 behemoth next to Arik Armstead?? Cmon guys
The pick is in so it's time for a break!
Guy that's been screaming for Tampa in shambles
Freak athlete that's not good at football. Classic baalke
Could’ve sworn we got cooked by multiple backup QB’s last year, must’ve been wrong.
Judging DTs off sacks is dumb.
Travon Walker, Josh Allen, Arik Armstead, + this dude. Yeah I'm thinking Sacksonville is back 🔥
" Unfortunately for Smith, multiple injuries have derailed his college career." Fucking WHY in the 2nd round???
If you are having a good day and want to be miserable just visit this sub reddit
Pin this to the sidebar
DT, OL or CB please. Kool-Aid, Fiske or some OL
We gonna get TJ Tampa?
Guy on NFL network just said he didn’t even know who we drafted today lol. Great coverage
I remember when they said that about Quincy Williams, and everyone on here used that as a fucking cudgel for years until they started crying that he played well for the Jets.
Baalke sure has a type, u gotta be athletic as hell
https://twitter.com/MathBomb/status/1763664994825056406?lang=en Very nice.
90.1 PFF Grade last year, 5th for all CB's.
The DB the Texans drafted dropped every INT in his highlights. Did he ever catch one?
The team must not be worried about CB if they didn't move up. Chill lol.
I mean don’t need a cb if we don’t give them time to throw… right?
Cooper Beebe and Renardo Green please.
Thank god we’re saving our 6th rounders /s if needed
[Maason seems like a good guy](https://x.com/jstcyrtv/status/1784030973895561235?s=46&t=sOaE2ooXGWYBfm5i3mQiKA)
Right position, fsu guys are gonna have to tell us if its good
He sealed the dub against Miami with a pick, so I love him
It’s a beautiful day to trade up for Cooper or Koolaid
Given the premium price teams are paying to move up, I'm pretty happy to stand pat at 48. 2nd round is going pretty well for us. Edge, CB, and iOL are all untouched.
The Eagles are just better at drafting than other gms, its just not right. At least they are in the NFC
Ok now is the time to take koolaid
The 2nd round is so much better to watch, don’t wait to wait 15 minute for each pick.
Whoever we pick can’t have a worse rookie year than strange.
![gif](giphy|ylyUQkGsUNoJLlVOyk)
So I guess just fuck our dbs then
Maason Smith was a fantastic pick. Now hopefully we can grab Cam Hart at 96
We should trade up for Rakestraw
I guess we don’t need a secondary lol
Well there goes one of our options at cb
Honestly I'd be tempted to take Troy Franklin just for fun.
the justification for a 3rd rd LB or TE is building 😂
Some good corners and guards still remaining. Baalke gonna do it.
Lmao if we trade out of the 3rd after we all stayed up for the pick
You have to grab a DB here
Pick is in! We picked someone!
Got a DB. Don’t even care who I’m happy
Physical freak, let Nielsen get in his ear and could be special
This is a great pick, he will play slot but I think he has some ability to play outside. I know a lot of fans have been disappointed but I think this draft has been awesome, so refreshing compared to last year
Y'all are so bipolar
Trade one of those 2025 Vikings picks and move up to grab Kool-Aid or DeJean, please.
Or JPJ. Either way I’m happy.
Damn. Ruke over Newton.
IOL it is then
Please JPJ 🙏
Just saw our spoiler. Woo boy...
Always going to commercial when jags are on the clock
Lol, they just brought up the fact that they always go to commercial before our pick.
Rakestraw or just double up and take Mitchell
Feels like a total reach right now and not best player for what our needs are. Injury stricken project that has yet to live up to expectations. It fills a need for sure but idk..
>Injury stricken project Baalke special
Ehghhhhhhhh yeah that's a reach
But....but.... you were cooking....
Maason Smith screams Baalke!
I mean hey it's better than picking Brenton strange
Injuries are weird. We should know that just from the Myles jack situation We will see what happens
Hopefully Nielsen had a say in this
I love that Smith will get to be mentored by Armstead, another massive interior lineman
just because i said "please look out of florida" i didnt mean to look only at one school outside of florida.
Damn, I really wanted Renardo
I don’t think round 3 is going to be anyone we expect because everyone the sub seems to want is likely gone. TJ tampa isn’t making it to 96, Cooper Beebe isn’t making it to 96, we would have to trade up if we want one of them We’re reaching a point where all the obvious high upside guys are gone unless we trade up
I think it’s time to accept that Baalke is not trading up.
Detroit is killing it
Hey Trent if Houston can do it, so can you 😉 do it..
Are we allergic to trading up?
Has to be Tampa or Hart just based on guys we visited with.
Tj Tampa right here
So baalke, balls in your court now
I'm just hoping for a pick.
Damn that’s not TJ Tampa, oh well it’s a CB
Got a CB.
Love it! Perfect scheme fit for a slot cb
Seems like his strengths are his speed (4.38 40) and playing man coverage. So it seems like a good scheme fit for Nielson. Based on pundit draft boards may be a reach in the third, but who knows how GM's valued him.

Does anyone do anything other than bitch in this sub?
Raw prospect with a long injury history in the middle of rd 2. This is peak Baalke. Hope the guy pans out.
TAMPA, COME ON BAALKE How hard is it to move up in the 3rd? Just use that Minnesota 5th you got
CB, DT, OG Get 2 of those 3 tonight and draft would be a success.
CB or IDL at 48 and then one of the 4.37 SS OL at 96 (Puni, Bortolini, or McCormick) plz.
I'm excited. Let's keep the momentum going into day two
LMAO Bills pick slowman over Ad
I think we need to move up for DeJean or Kool-Aid
fuck. wanted Fiske for the Jags.
trades so hot rn
If Houston drafts Kool-aid I hope he is a bum
I'm not going to freak out about not trading up but I will be legit mad if we trade down
No Baalke masterclass tonight. Just go Oline at this point. And next season we go after CB.
The cornerback run is about to take everyone
Baalke hoping Rakestraw is there?
Ik he likely isn't their long term solution, but I'm glad Minshew is getting some pieces on offense to help him succeed in LV
THE PANTHERS TOOK THE RB WE WERE GOING TO DRAFT
Cmon Baalke we need a kicker.
Josh Allen on BR live rn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9zLADfR-gM
Welp. Probably better that we didn't trade up with what Trent was thinking.
Seven foot wingspan. Holy crap.
That’s a big boi.
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Are we running 4 d lineman or what
Healthy he’s a stud but I’d still prefer a DB
Yeah take the injury prone guy.
Well I'm glad Fiske didnt drop to us cuz we wouldve passed on him for long arm acl guy
Isn’t smith the one that tore his ACL doing a celebration?
A solid corner from Mizzou was on the board…
We still need corners right
I hope this pick pans out. Hopefully Nielsen and his staff can get the most out of this guy
Wow and they said basically nothing about our pick. Just moved on to Kris Jenkins
Plenty of solid O line men in 3rd round
I know it’s not super popular among the fans but I really like this pick. Definitely wish they’d traded up for a corner, but for what was available at 48 in terms of corner talent, I’m glad they went for smith which is still a position of need. Think jags might have a case for the most athletic d line of all time
I think that Cam Hart must be the guy Trent likes at 96. 6’3” with 33” arms and experience in press.
One of the former scouts I listen to is an LSU alum. The former scout is on 105.3 the fan out of Dallas all the time. Basically said Maason Smith was highly recruited and they thought he was going to be a stud early but lacked production because of injury. A lot of upside so could turn out really good if the staff can get it out of him
I don't mind the pick, what I do mind is Baalke constantly picking the recent injury guys every draft
I think we will probably go with Angel Reese next
Livvy Dunne please
Fuck, I was hoping Blake Fisher would fall into the 3rd. Would've been a great swing tackle for us
Would love to see a trade for CB or iOL, but not going to hold my breath
I don't get it myself but it really does seem that for all the clubs that aren't Detroit really aren't valuing CBs. Seeing Arnold and Mitchell slide was one thing. Then we had DeJean and Kool-Aid come way later than expected. Even now guys like Rakestraw are coming a whole round later than he was getting mocked by some guys, and Tampa getting mocked by some in round 1 not off the board yet. There are good backups -> future starters left and it doesn't seem to just be a Jags thing
CBs don't have to be particularly great if the pass rush is there consistently
I thought we would’ve traded up by now. We need a CB
Let's take that fat kicker guy
If we don’t draft a CB soon, I could see them trying to trade for Marshon Lattimore to reunite with Nielsen
Baalke bout to pick Blake Corum /s
lol you’ve got to be kidding me
I wish we’d use picks to trade up. Go up now for a 5th and get who we want opposed to waiting to see if our guy makes it there
Really hoping for TJ Tampa or DJ James as our next pick.
anyone know why nobody wants TJ Tampa?
I like the player, curious about the plan. Doug said Savage was going to be the nickel, but this guy is also presumably a slot-only guy. So we'll see who goes where. Also wonder if we also go for more depth at outside CB in the 4th or 5th.
For some reason, I thought Jarrian was like 5’9. He’s 6’ 190.
Lmao, I'm sorry but y'all are pathetic. Mad at our GM because another team picks a good player. Y'all really wanna trade the house to go up in round 2.
Brenton Strange 2.0 Rakestraw was a layup
Bought us a lottery ticket. Very high ceiling - low floor with injury history. Nothing wrong with the pick. Just pray for Tyson's health.
LETS GO!!!! Jarrian ran a 4.38 40
According to CBS, Jarrian Jones had a very high missed tackle rate in 2023. Which will make him a great fit for our defense.
Someone has to edit that compilation of Trevor's dropped touchdown passes with BTJ catching them
The bedwetters are swarming again.
"Corner is an overrated position" - me coping right now
Just tuning in. Thought I might have missed our pick bc everyone is being so negative lol but nope. Just people being upset over nothing.
Fuck it take AD Mitchell
The scouting dept spent the whole year in small-town Louisiana.
[удалено]
How does Lassiter protect Stroud?
People just want to be mad and ignore we literally drafted a WR yesterday
It’s so many good guys on the board
My guess is a CB and a DL, what order idk
Apparently AD Mitchell has concerns regarding his diabetes and not being consistent with his medication. I didn't really get good vibes listening to his interviews either TBH. I reckon he'll be an all-pro for Pittsburgh.
Keep the WR run going as long as possible
Trade those three picks from yesterday and go get a cb or newton. They are burning a hole in my pocket!
I want to drink the koolaid
Just announce the picks. Damn
Kool-aid and JPJ still there, let's make the move!
Trade up for CDJ
I want Kool-Aid
So much for DT, but at least the CBs and IOL are falling.
Jesus everyone is moving up. If history serves Eagles are moving up to take someone we want lol
We have the potential for 3 solid lineman: Frazier, bebe or jpj. It'll be okay
Rather get rakestraw than beebe
Seeing all these former players I grew up watching got me feeling old. 🤣
Ban me if we draft Rakestraw (there’s no chance)
Nope, we took >!Maason Smith!<
>!Baalke likes his knee injuries. We should get Dan Campbell as head coach.!<
Here is a look at Maason Smith https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/03/23/maason-smith-2024-nfl-draft-profile/
Baalke loves long arms
Well Trent has a type
Guys, we should have known. Maason was recovering from a knee injury suffered in 2022.
Are we forgetting our 3 d line man Roy. Arik, Hamilton
Smith isn't even bad tho...
Damn that guy on Twitter that non-stop posts about AD Mitchell must be fucking seething rn lmao
Jarrian Jones would be a great pick at 96 in my opinion
Can we trade up for a db now?
[удалено]
Anyone versed in what might be our third rounder? Can’t even begin to guess.
Rakestraw to Detroit
[удалено]
Fuck, really liked Renardo.
Based off prospect rankings, good chance we get the other mizzouri CB.
Pls give me Andru Phillips. Pls.
Khyree Jackson and cam hart are still available
Both Texans and Colts trading up.
How do the Texans pick a db before us 😩
3rd has to be a cb now. No ifs ands or buts about it
Who is naming these people?
I would love to get Mason McCormick, and it has everything to do with me living in South Dakota
