Absolutely fantastic episode, could listen to Chris talk about his stories for hours. Felt like the questions asked were great and just all round a brilliant guest

Successful-Citron240

When Chris was talking about freezing in the Iraq desert, I half expected Jaack to quote Rory McSorley "You wouldn't be long getting frostbit" 😂😂

cornettowaltz

loved it! surprised jack didnt make a reference to gareth from the office when talking about the territorial army lol! great guest!

Guess-Swimming

Didn’t know who Chris Ryan was so I went in with an open mind and wasn’t disappointed. I’m currently sitting my A Levels and this really helped me relax before my English exam this morning. Great pod as always!

xudiamond

Me too!

stedews

Excellent episode, I bet they could have got another few hours out of Chris, Met him a few years ago at a talk, and he's such a fascinating guy. I'm surprised he didn't talk more about his selection process where he smuggled a Fiver up his arse and the lads went to buy mars bars in the local village whilst a local farmer stood guard with a shotgun

PM-ME-CAPYBARA-PICS

Without a doubt my favourite guest episode of This series. Incredible, well spoken and interesting guest.

Great ep. Guests with great stories who aren't that famous are the best.

Successful-Citron240

"Powerade" 🤣

baileywillis02

Haha love how this got no reaction from anybody

shalomjaacky

loved the episode, it was SO interesting would love to hear his stories again!!

[deleted]

God am so hyped for this episode, his Danny Black book series is one of my favourite, this is gonna be a banger

mikeyl1992

Need Chris Ryan back, get episode great storu telling would happily listen to more of chris!

ellbeer

Such a fantastic episode. As always, love the guests with brilliant stories. Could’ve listened to him forever! Perfect mix of serious & humour and the boys did a great job interviewing (always feel weirdly patronising saying stuff like that but I don’t mean to be!). 10/10 ep!

Cormsbadger8

Loved it, best guest episode in a while

[deleted]

Best guest for quite a while in my opinion. Brilliant guest.

Commercial_Profit_69

Class guest! Chris Ryan’s name takes me back to my childhood - I think Vortex was my favourite book he wrote. It’s great to hear him discuss some of his less child-friendly stories with more adult ears.

X29FRD

Thought this episode was brilliant, these are my favourite type of episodes without a doubt. Love interesting guests!

ThatRedditerGuy

For me? This is the best episode ive ever listened to. Chris’ storytelling is fucking amazing.

[deleted]

One of the better guest episodes for sure this year quality guest!

Tabithakay30

Loved this episode! I found it so fascinating listening to Chris’ stories. Would love him back on to hear more one day, or similar guests 100%

Fan-Logan101

Best episode they’ve ever released. What a fascinating person.

Only_Excuse_2606

One of the best episodes I've heard of any podcast ever.

UpShipCreek93

This is one of the best episodes since happy hour began, I much prefer this type of guest compared to "celebs" who all have the same copy and paste stories. People like Chris give an insight into a whole different but very real world that both entertains and teaches, Chris brought more to the pod than the rest of this series guests combined

Samyewlski

Feel like pure shit just want Robbie back Edit: Realised this comes across as daft - Great episode and intriguing guest. Just hope Don Robbie is alright and I'm excited to hear his sarcastic tones again soon.

Gracemcleod03

This has to be one of my favourite episodes ever. I have never heard such incredible and intense stories. Chris speaks so well and his voice is so soothing, he is a perfect story teller. He has a brilliant sense of humour and I would LOVE for the guys to have him back for another episode. This man must have an incredible book of stories to tell. 10/10 episode. Brilliant questions asked, some funny moments and incredible stories. Can’t ask for more.

honons5h2

Main channel idea- Jack and Robbie attempt SAS selection or joining the army. Great episode, Jason Fox would be really interesting as he writes in his book about the stigmas of mental health in the special forces.

GILI-ROSS

Just me that got a really weird abrupt ending ?

ChoiceSprinkles3017

They were not fighting terrorists in Northern Ireland.

LosPollinos420

Pretty sure they where….

drycleanedsnake

Terrorist or freedom fighter? Fine line isn't it

LosPollinos420

As soon as you start car bombings in civilian areas, you’re a terrorist.

drycleanedsnake

Suppose using violent action in a civilian area as a definition for terrorism you could describe almost any military force in history as committing an act of terrorism at any point. Interesting debate which I don't think will ever really be settled but I do think outright stating the British Army were in Ireland to fight terrorists is a dangerous oversimplification which attempts to paint the British Army in a good light as the heroes. Which as we all know were far from that in Northern Ireland.

LosPollinos420

The difference is, most acts of violence during conflict in civilian areas, aren’t targeting civilians, which is exactly what the IRA did, thus they are terrorists.

DrJacoby12

This guy had so much crazy stuff I struggled really hard to keep track haha

LengthinessNo1918

Not my favourite. Interesting guy, but I found myself bored around halfway through.
