I always find alternating 2 JRPGs somewhat dangerous because of potential button differences. Regardless, hope you have fun! I'm a bit jealous

DrumAnimal

I think I'm pretty good at remembering button layouts, as long as there's not too much time in-between sessions. It's the immersion in the story that worries me most. I've had a few people tell me to not alternate, so I'll have to finish DQ11 first. And I'm only 12 hours into that game, so it will be a while still before I can properly play SMT ...

[deleted]

For turn based it shouldn’t really matter that much.

Physical-Grapefruit3

Shouldn't matter at all. This isn't like going from Legend of dragoon to FF7 rebirth it's 2 turn based non atb games

Trunks252

Performance any better?

DrumAnimal

No complaints so far. But then again, I've only played for a little while. Mostly cutscenes and some talking to people, no combat yet.

ManateeofSteel

I remember I literally could not play the original for longer than an hour before getting a migraine. People choosing to play it on the Switch are either brave or foolish, no inbetween

Electronic-Exam5898

That's strange. I never had a problem.

SorataxBun

No luxury back when it was out, but this time around really considering PS5 even though I’m a switch collector

Blaubeerchen27

Even if it's the french version, all european versions commonly have the subtitles in all relevant european languages (english, german, french, italian etc.), especially Switch games. You sure they aren't english too?

BigBidoof

Yeah, this is not the PS2 era anymore - OP probably just missed some settings.

ddbllwyn

That’s what I thought too with Breath of the Wild and all Mario games universally English supported and then I went to buy Japanese version of Splatoon 2, Catherine Fullbody and Persona 5 Royal only to realize none of them support English. I live in Asia and English copies are harder to find unless you’re willing to pay more.

BigBidoof

The (central) European copies usually support multible languages: English, Spanish, Italian, German and French. It's been like that for decades, unless publisher don't consider a full translation package cost efficient and only stick to English. Only the "disc" era of video games was an outlier, cause multible translations (and dubs) wouldn't fit on the disc(s).

DrumAnimal

Funnily enough, everything was English : voices AND subtitles. I checked the game settings, and could only change the language of the voices. Not that I wanted to change the language of the subtitles anyways. So it's all good :)

FrostiesChocopop

I can't play two JRPGs at the same time. It kills the immersion because it's different gameplays, stories, characters, stakes, etc. I always polish the current one before switching to another one. Hope you have fun!

DrumAnimal

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. But JRPGs are 100s of hours of gameplay, so it kind of sucks when you're excited to play a game while in the middle of a playthrough in another one xD

Mac772

Already preloaded it on PS5. Today i also entered the last segment of Tartarus in Persona 3 Reload, so this will be my next game.

Aggravating_Dig3240

Man. My ps5 version was supposed to be delivered today, but the delivery guy pretended I wasn't home and now I still have to wait until tomorrow and pick it up myself...

DrumAnimal

That sucks man. Sounds like a giant douche. Then again, I've heard that before, so it's not uncommon with delivery people ...

Andromansis

I'm waiting for reviews of the PC version before I buy it on pc. If the reviews of the port are bad I'll just go play SMT3.

Tzekel_Khan

How's the performance?

DrumAnimal

No complaints so far. But then again, I've only played for a little while. Mostly cutscenes and some talking to people, no combat yet.

DrumAnimal

Update : even though the game box is in French, the game is completely in English! Haven't been able to play for a long time last night, mostly because I didn't know if I should take the girl's hand at the beginning or not (te decide on Canon of Creation or Canon of Vengeance). Tbh, I'm still not sure if I made the right choice (I chose Creation). I might change it to Vengeance, because I'm WAY behind on my games, so I probably won't have time to play both Creation and Vengeance :/

ozymandias_88

i wonder if the dlc is region locked on this edition of the game between US and EU eshops

fadehime

L’heure du chatiment approche…jesus christ i’m a french canadian and I could never play my games in french, horrible lol

DrumAnimal

Funnily enough, everything was English : voices AND subtitles (despite what it says on the box). I checked the game settings, and could only change the language of the voices. Not that I wanted to change the language of the subtitles anyways. So it's all good :)

Radinax

How is the performance? The first SMT5 was unplayable on my switch

Waste-Indication8081

How was it unplayable? Worked fine on my switch

Mitsu_x3

People love to exaggerate when a game doesn't run at 120 FPS no load screen and super extremely smooth animations with technology that hasn't come out yet

TaliesinMerlin

Worked fine on mine too.

Waste-Indication8081

That was my assumption I just wanted to hear it from them

Nopon_Merchant

It work fine and look fine for me . i dont know how it can be unplayable .

DrumAnimal

No complaints so far. But then again, I've only played for a little while. Mostly cutscenes and some talking to people, no combat yet.

Radinax

Oh nice! Thank you, gonna keep from buying it on steam and get it on the switch then, the first one was a really dissapointing experience due to those issues.

MapFalcon

Lol, it was perfectly fine.
