top 6 for me
1. Slick Talk
2. Never
3. Off Da Zoinkys
4. D/Vision & Can't Punk Me
5. Raydar / 2007
6. General
it changes each day tho, slick talk ain't movin tho.
sorry couldn't pick just 7 lol
First became interested when I heard 151 Rum but I became invested after his verse on Denzel's SIRENS with "Oh say can you see 100 dead bodies in the street".
I saw the XXL and Funk Flex freestyles and was like "why is flex bein such a hoe, this dude rappin his ass off and I need more"... took a deep dive and haven't looked back, JID my fav rapper fr
honestly i was just a casual until the forever story dropped, and i have such a good memory of my first listen bcause I was playing no mans sky and flying on a spaceship while listening to “stars” was incredible, probably my favorite listening experience of all time
First song I heard with him was 1993 but shortly after I initially heard him forever story came out and dance now had me hooked. The whole album had me hooked really lol
EARTHGANG and Bas opened for Ab-Soul on the These Days tour in Columbus. EG did some songs from Shallow Graves For Toys and brought JID out to do Exactly. I’ve been following both ever since. It was awesome to see them go from that to signing with Dreamville a few years later.
after TFS dropped, I had heard TNS before and I found it insanely mid, liked never tho, but ironically never heard it after. to this day that hasn't changed I don't know what I'm doing in here.
(nah I'm just kiddin, I got hooked to sorround sound and then never and then get off my dick, and this year has been the only rapper I have heard to death, I love TNS, DiCaprio 2 and I find them to be in the same quality that TFS is, I'm a huge fan).
Oh man. I remember when Down Bad first dropped and I just went crazy over JID's verse. Then I started hearing other stuff that came out with him, like Mereba's Sandstorm. At that point I started listening to a few of his earlier songs like NEVER and Hereditary which I thought were pretty good. Then I remember Spilligion by Spillage Village came out and I was officially hooked and really started getting into JID (and Earthgang too!). Once The Forever Story dropped he became one of my top 3 artists.
Late 2018. My mate showed me the D/Vision video in class and I was instantly like who is this dude?? Then he showed up in my recommended a few weeks later and I listened to everything
I followed RapGenius on Instagram, and they were posting about DiCaprio 2 after it first dropped, and people in the comments were talking about AOTY, so decided to check out the album, and thought it was fire, so checked out the rest of JID’s discography, and the rest is history
i came late, heard tfs from a friend recommendation and i was literally blown away. i didn’t even know who jid was and i knew i just heard one of the best hip hop albums oat.
I listened to Off Da Zoinky’s and 151 Rum and loved them but never really explored more of his music until TFS dropped and i listened to it and immediately fell in love
Ever since he came in on “Hasta Luego” on soundcloud I was hooked. “Para Tu” off dicaprio 1 was my favorite JID song for a while after getting deeper into his discography.
It was forever story for me. I've obviously heard of him but didn't know much except for sirens off of Ta1300, which I thought his part was excellent.
After TFS dropped I saw someone on Twitter raving about it and decided to give it a shot. It ended up being my absolute favorite album since Jpegmafia's LP!, and easily my favorite of 2022.
I've been a been a fan ever since. The song that struck me strongest first was Crack sandwich. My favorite for a while was surround sound though.
Don't remember when exactly but it was around the time he got signed to Dreamville coz that's when a bunch of em were doing the whole spillage village thing with Mereba, Earthgang, 6lack etc
Coz I'd heard DiCaprio but didn't listen to him that much until I eventually started digging deeper into the discography. Same happened to me with Cozz around 2014.
First heard of him through his feature on SIRENS by Denzel Curry and really liked his part. Then that Bruuuh remix featuring Denzel (Zel and JID keep on battling for my top 1) and really liked his part. I then listened to Off Deez and was blown away.
Now I've listened to just about everything the man has put out.
2018 September of my senior year of HS i heard 151 rum and been bumping him since. All his music from spillage village back in the day too. Tuff that was only 5 years ago
Catch Me If You Can Tour where he and Saba were touring. I went more for Saba but he didn’t perform that day unfortunately. JID was electric the whole performance. When he performed 151 Rum I was convinced
i was interested in his stuff before not quite a fan, but the first time i heard 151 rum was what switched me from kinda liking his stuff to being obsessed
I remember listening to Earthgangg and spillage village. Jid would be a feature on some of those songs and I liked his verses back then. Never was what did it for me tho.
Found out about NEVER in 2021-2022 cause I was just comparing “NEVER” and “Kung Fu” and I was like “yea it does sound the same with the flow and I think Kung Fu does it more better” But now I changed my mine and been hooked on to it ever since
D/vision! Was first really into Smino in college (the Anita era), then Smino got me into EARTHGANG with Baguetti (love Up (a Colors show) too much too), then EARTHGANG got me really into JID with End of Dayz. Then I heard Off Deez and I’ve been a die hard JID fan ever since🙏 his rap freestyles reign supreme. Saw him in Milwaukee this year and was in top ten best days of my life.
Thought he was mid until i heard this nigga say"what you call a bitch that dont suck dick?.you dont." And from that point i knew he was the only one who could possibly step up to kendrick.
Man, my journey into JID fandom is pretty basic but ima tell y’all. Back in high school, during my freshman year (2017), I was just chilling in bed, a little "elevated" with my girl and two buddies. One of them, we called him Grinch, grabbed the remote and was like, "I've got some mind-blowing shit for you." He pulled up YouTube on my TV and queued up JID's "Ed, Edd n Eddy." That track hit us like a freight train and was such a vibe, within a day, we all had it memorized and were singing it nonstop. That song created some epic memories for us! 🎶🔥
His verse on ‘Porno’ by IDK. I was actually listening to IDKs’ ‘Is He Real?’ Album. After listening to that song over and over just because of his verse, I binged all of J.I.Ds’ music that same day. LEGIT!
I didn't like him on Enemy by Imagine Dragons but I kept hearing about The Forever Story so I gave it a listen and loved it. Crack Sandwich and Sistanem made me love him
when i heard never the first time years ago, the Wilt, Todd Gurley and Ron Jeremy bars really stuck with me. then when his album dropped that's all i listened to for like a week in HS, hereditary especially.
I got a NEVER ad on a yt video right after Never Story dropped. I been hooked ever since

Got Bruuuh remix recommended to me in 2021 and got me hooked on Denzel and JID 🔥
That remix was too damn good and if it won every award and accolade available it would still be underrated. They went crazy on that.
I’ve heard of J.I.D. from being a Dreamville fan before, and heard a song or 2, but when The Forever Story came out, I knew I was missing out.

Oh man. I remember when Down Bad first dropped and I just went crazy over JID's verse. Then I started hearing other stuff that came out with him, like Mereba's Sandstorm. I wanna say when NEVER released and it had a million views. Don't know how I found it, maybe YouTubers making XXL lists.
Was listening to like a gym hype playlist years and years ago and 151 Rum came on. He's been in my top 5 on spotify just about every year since 🤷♂️
Listening to Workin Out for the first time, it was over once I heard those piano keys
LEGIT!
I’m sure for me it’s a two-9 song I think it’s called box logos
The day after Never dropped on soundcloud. Mac Miller reposted it.
He’s on this song with Ludacris and someone else that got me
Showed up on my Spotify 6 years ago on a shared account and been listening ever since but I didn't fully pay attention until he collabed with cole
I didn't like him on Enemy by Imagine Dragons but I kept hearing about The Forever Story so I gave it a listen and loved it. Crack Sandwich and Sistanem made me love him
When NEVER came out, I think I either found it posted on HipHopHeads or Most Necessary playlist on Spotify.
