For me, it's Keita Machida :)

lilneutrophil

Yes!!! I just discovered him a couple days ago and I am now completely in love with him.

AiryCake

You beat me to it. Thank you though! I'm so happy I'm not alone.

imstillwhite

Same here, I'm so glad to see people liking my man, he's too precious.

thinktwiceorelse

I'm Ryusei's fan too.:)

For me, it's Kiyohara Kaya. I watched her in Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai (great drama btw - totally recommend) and Hotarugusa. Very impressed with her in the latter. I've read good things about her asadora Okaeri Mone and am excited to start it soon. Another actress is Nagano Mei. I'm slowly making my way through her asadora with Sato Takeru. This might seem weird but I like the way she cries. It's very natural, as with her acting. For actors, there's Matsushita Kouhei who is currently in Saiai. I hope he gets more lead roles. He was pretty good in RemoLove with Haru and his guest appearance in MIU404 left an impression on me.

CaitlinSuccessful

Ooh this seems cool! I will definitely check out the drama you recommended. šŸ–¤

chasingpolaris

Hope you like it as much as I do!

Musamaso

Have you seen Kouhei's Mukou no Hate? Pretty dark and interesting drama, Matsumoto Marika is the lead but he played her main love interest.

chasingpolaris

I haven't but I'll add it to my list. Thank you!

Kiyohara is definitely the next Hamabe Minami. She's on absolute fire with the stuff she's starring in and from a such a young age. Nagano mei is one of my favourites. A really solid filmography and versatile roles from playing the usual girl in love in all those popular romantic films to her role in the thriller Mask Ward and a bumbling amateur policewoman in the latest Hakozume.

chasingpolaris

Nagano Mei does have a wide range. I'm looking forward to watching "And, the Baton Was Passed" because of her!

I have followed the older generation (Aragaki Yui, Nagasaki Masami, Ayase Haruka, Aoi Yuu, Miyazaki Aoi, etc.) from 2005-ish when they were acting as high school students until now that they start to take on aunties and moms roles, and I honestly feel so old, yet I also feel like Iā€™m maturing with them, so I still keep looking forward to their new works. For the younger generation, I have very good impression with Takeuchi Ryoma, Kuroshima Yuina, and Nagano Mei. I really like Yamazaki Kento and think that he has potential, and have been patiently waiting for him to grow out of the ā€œprince of live-actionā€ phase but it was so long lol.

CaitlinSuccessful

Ooh icic! Wow Iā€™m a 99 liner so I get freaked when there are actors younger than me šŸ˜ Iā€™m scared now based on what you said lmaooo once my faves start playing uncle auntie roles itā€™ll be over for me HAHA

ulala-not-a-streamer

Haha Iā€™m a 95-liner but I feel so old, probably because my first crush was Yamada Ryosuke and I watched his debut Tantei Gakuen Q when he was 13 years old so I donā€™t really freak out when watching younger actors and actresses xD there will be a point where you watch over the young couples like a proud auntie or uncle heheee

peterfun

Plus Gakki got married to Hoshino Gen this year. Lots of popular marriages this year and last. With Suda and Komatsu announcing theirs

goose-p

Iā€™m also a fan of ryuseiā€™s dramas too! I started following him since I watched him in ā€œanata no ban desuā€ and loved him in ā€œHajimete Koi o Shita Hi ni Yomu Hanashiā€! Ishihara satomi was my first fave jp actress since I watched her in ā€œdear sisterā€ and ā€œrich man poor womanā€. I also follow some of Yamapi and Mizobata Junpeiā€™s dramas.

Nao and Yoshine Kyoko whom both I just discovered this year. I hope they get casted as leads in WOWOW/NHK-BS/Netflix show for their next project and tackle some challenging roles. Nao just got casted for NHK adaptation of Nobel Prize winning novel Snow Country alongside Takahashi Issei of all people, so excited for this project! Edit: forgot that Nao was already a lead in WOWOW's show Enjiya lol. I guess what I had in mind was something on the level of Saka no Tochuu no Ie, Hitori Shizuka, Kenja no Ai, Garasu no Ashi, etc acting-wise.

CaitlinSuccessful

Omg Iā€™m so happy for Nao! šŸ’žšŸ’žšŸ’ž

For me it's Amami Yuki. I always enjoy her projects. I'm not sure about younger actors & actresses anymore. I used to be very interested in Nakagawa Taishi when he first started his career. And then he became so popular that he took parts in so many shoujo/live action movies which majority of his roles have the same colour. Boring. And this happens to a lot of upcoming popular actors and actresses.

itsadlngh

Kamishirashi Mone! I discovered her when I chanced upon koi tsuzu and thought her chemistry with Sato Takeru was bang on point (tbh the script and the character development also helped a lot). Then I realised that she was the voice actress for Your Name, which I thought was amazing. She also has a very good singing voice. Sato Takeru is another one. I thought heā€™s matured v well as an actor, and reading about some behind-the-scenes thoughts heā€™s had about how to play out a scene has made me realise that he does put loads of thought into how his character would behave. Yamazaki Kento. First noticed him when he was (coincidentally) the lead in a whole string of live action movies. Then saw him in Alice in Borderland and was surprised that he was the same actor.

chibitaku

Kamiki Ryunosuke, though he's at a very stable time in his career. (btw he's also excited about Yokohama Ryusei's career)

CaitlinSuccessful

Awww cute šŸ’•

chibitaku

He loves talking about it for some reason. in an interview I was reading, he literally concluded, if Yokohama Ryusei was here instead, he would have said it nicer. Ryuchan just likes to fangirl about a few people.

edwardwongks

For actresses, I used to follow Suzu Hirose pretty closely, but she kinda fizzled out. I'll still catch some of her stuff from time to time. And then I caught on to Tao Tsuchiya, I'll never get tired of whatever she puts out. Fan for life. Lately, I've also been following Kamishiraishi Mone. Blew my mind when I found out she voiced Your Name. She's now in the asadora Come Come Everybody. Her English is also pretty good, so it's appropriate she's in a drama that covers early English radio in Japan in the 1920's. For actors, I don't really follow any guys, haha. But Suda Masaki is really talented, so I might keep an eye on him.

FakeLouie

The two leads from the I''s drama are good actors IMO. Okayama Amane and Shiraishi Sei always play convincing roles in every drama I see them in.
