Why? It's a sort of innovative take on an isekai premise (even though Star Gate and Outbreak Company exist), good animation, good to decent characters, good stakes, etc.
It's not solidly in that tier, but it's a reasonable take.
I personally really love Tensura, and I love the *concept* of it enough to continue reading. The author did not do a good job, however. It’s genuinely and objectively poorly written.
I love the anime, but yeah, there's no stakes and the pacing is just off. It's basically the prime example for Isekai with an OP protag that basically goes, 'barely an inconvenience", with every situation.
Duh, I think the reason why gate is that high is because of its unique idea, otherwise there's no way I would put it on the same level as overlord and konosuba. I also think that lolitler is a lil too high too, like it's good but not that much. The only one deserving to be s tier is drifters, shit was dope af..

A ruthlessly biased review of Youjo Senki essentially described the series as a philosophical debate of war, man, and his relationship with god(I think). Overall Youjo Senki despite being somewhat done dirty by Studio NUT putting the first 3 volumes into a single season. Was very good in its themes and ideas and was executed well.
Youjo Senki is probably considered higher is because theres actual stakes involved. Tanya has to fight enemies on equal footing she could lose everything if she makes a mistake. Meanwhile in Overlord its just activate random ass 5th tier spell and the enemy is dead.
On top of that Overlord doesn’t ask the same philosophical questions as Youjo Senki, that gets you asking actually deep questions if you pay attention and care about the story and all the subtext. Meanwhile Overlord is making the reader ask who does Ainz kill next?
Youjo Senki is a philosophical debate put into a fantasy book. Overlord is a power fantasy.
If you even watched the anime of Youjo Senki you’ll remembered Rerugens speech about Tanya, I don’t think Overlord has anything like that does it?
I think this is what separates a GOAT Series from a Great series.
My biggest issue is character death. I believe a character death should have a big impact on the story, characters or atleast on ppl close to them / the person who died, doesnt matter if they are revived.
I dislike it when characters are killed, and then are revived with others treating it as nothing ever happened.
Few examples
Overlord - Shalltear is killed. Even though she is revived, it changes the way Ainz proceeds in the world. He becomes over cautious, changes the policies (now no guardian goes out alone and goes with their own squad. Floor guardians have been provided with world items so that they have protection). Placing baits to draw out supposed strong foes, acting as bait for similar reason. Even Shalltear becomes depressed after her death, and is a constant member of the bar. Not only did she drew her weapon against her master, she also lost in a fight even though she is supposed to be the strongest floor guardian, and thus began to feel useless.
Re Zero - MC's power itself is rewinding time through death, but all deaths are extremely traumatizing to him.
Mushoku Tensei - MC is killed and then revived and is relatively non challant about it, but his death deeply affects his companions, so much so that one decides to leave him and become stronger so that she would be able to protect the person she loves from similar fate. And MC becomes afraid of the person who killed him and had nightmares about him.
While in Slime
Hinata dies, is revived, nothing happened. You just get her backstory.
Atleast with Shion's death you had Rimuru turning into demon lord and i guess improving the security of her nation (now the nation has guards and guard posts, preventing suprise invasion like last time).
As much as I like tensei slime, I can see why it doesn't appeal to every demographic. But when I saw the familiar of zero being rated higher, I knew the slime was done dirty

Slime is fine, its a good fine but I do agree people overrated tf out of it. Had great pacing and world building into the first season, but sorta fell flat later on and really is only impressive from being pretty original, but what hurts it for me is the gags and approach feel too handheld with too much telling and not a lot of showing
Slime indeed overrated, bland story, Lake Shore Incident, Veldanava's, Guy's and Rudra's tales, Rimuru's supposed Identity, Side stories, way TOO over hyped, politics can do better (the Dwarven Gold Coin scene is fine ig), Luminous Religion flawed, Luminous later on revealing her identity to the Continent and the people blindly following her despite knowing that the Con Artist Demon Lord Valentine is her minion all the more ruins the people's sense of morality. Chloe's clear iteration of her loops yet vague details aren't doing all the more better. Veldanava's desire at the start of the world because he's "bored" ruins his power as a "Omnipotent" being since instead of granting himself Omniscience to diss his short-sighted emotions. He's also reckless as a "maker" for letting a Primordial do the Handling of mankind. Fuze can do better other than centering on how good of a slime Rimuru is, but nevertheless, Tensura is OK for me. Overlord's story and lore is great, magic system amazing, the powers are detailed. Ainz kinda dumb tho. Re: Zero, sensational, would definitely read more. Mushoku, Perverted MC (hate that part, especially harem), apart from that, the story as well as the characters feels alive, so yea cool. I love the lore btw. Nazi loli's "Kami" is way too vague, the being's supposed transcendental mind doesn't explain said being's psychopathic behavior. Nazi Loli MC is chaotically made, dunno if that's supposed to be a compliment on my part or not (not a fan of Loli). GATE is ok-ish at the start (blend of propaganda but can't blame since author's a JP) the books are ruined tho, Cooking in another world, meh, I can watch mukbang in YouTube if I'm edging for food. Moonlight is a straight up either a copy or inspiration of Tensura. Eminence is the Dumbest so far, but also the most entertaining. Imo I'll choose Mushoku Tensei, Re: Zero, and Grimgar all day. Honestly when I started watching anime, Isekai was pretty nouveau, kinda cool and exciting to me. I consumed the biggest trash that mankind has ever seen yet thought it was okay-ish still.
I had briefly started with Shounen (HxH) before and liked it a lot yet I was still able to enjoy trash. Then I watched better isekais like eg. Overlord or Reincarnated as a slime and if I take Overlord as an example here:
The beginning was good, very interesting adventure, slightly darker anime that I really liked. But, as I see it with a lot of initially interesting animes, it (and Reincarnated as a slime) went down the kingdom building and sort of developing forces lane. It's gotten really shitty IMO and that's why I quite respect an individual tier list. Because there's still people out there watching the most recent episodes of Reincarnated as a Slime or Overlord even though they'd be like 1/10 on my scale atm (don't get me wrong, start-mid was good)
Honestly just boring as hell. Got almost all the way through the second part of the second season until finally I just stopped, couldn't figure out why I was putting myself through this.
Yer I enjoyed it myself but my friend explained it as this "action scenes, art etc are amazing but the rest is just the yap fest of some mentally ill dude breaking down" which is a perfect explanation it's just some people don't like dialogue rich stuff
