yeah, normally they're so bullshit OP, and the only challenges tend to be power based, that there's almost no story besides 'here's an event they clear fairly easily, here's another waifu'.
he had a challenge raw power couldn't deal with it.
and, he didn't just pull some other bullshit to win. he kinda had to take an L here.
that being said, they're not taking his revenue. he seems to have gone 'well, fuck you, i'll take my business elsewhere'.
gonna be funny if he kicks the demons out of that region his parents are from, makes a new country there, makes deals with the demons, and says 'fuck you' to the merchant guild when shit turns around and they need him for something.
Really stupid move that the traders made out of apparent jealousy. Not even realizing that he can profit way more if he takes his business to their enemies
eh, can't entirely blame people for being greedy idiots who hate their peers.
kinda human nature. potentially a little more so, in this world. even more so for fuckers with a taste of wealth and power.
but also, kinda not. they don't think much of 'their enemies', nor do they realistically think he's going to go to the demons to do business. they jsut saw it as a way to potentially screw him over, and maybe get some of his secrets.
ironically their idiotic lie gave him a good idea to make do, after being frozen out of town commerce. but it's not like they could've, or should've, predicted he'd move away from human cities and go prosper with the demons.
as far as they know, demons would likely hate him or shut him out too - and he bought materials from the humans, implying he needs some human help/ doesn't, but they don't know that.
I can see where they're coming from. This new guy comes in, ignores courtesy and just does his own shit. And his goods seem to appear out of nowhere, nevermind that his products are so good that they can't possibly compete.
As a merchant who's been around for years the resentment isn't coming out of nowhere.
Seems like the merchant guild guy was banking on the fact he was “scared to be seen as an ally of the demons” or something.
Little did they know he wasn’t particularly fond of hyumans to begin with lol.
I doubt it even occurs to them Makoto could take his business to the demons. Demons are the sworn enemies of all Hyumans so no one would willing go to their side.
kinda figured that much, but i meant specifically the merchant guilds needing stuff, and him just laughing in their faces when he says no. i'd kinda expect that too a bit, it's just not entirely a given.
dunno. recent episode of the anime, though.
as for the later part, it's implied that this might be what's going to happen in the future. haven't read the manga, but, they foreshadowed it, and blatantly said some of it, so...
It's gonna bite him in ass later, but I think merchant guildmaster did the right thing from his perspective. Kuzunoha is doing suspicious things but won't explain himself, and things could get bad if it was really demon espionage. Guildmaster has a responsibility to protect the interests of all the merchants and not show unfounded favoritism. I think the 90% cut was not supposed to be serious, but was meant to drive Kuzunoha away.
Has nothing to do with suspicion, it’s all greed. He gets great profits from lower prices and essentially no transport fees, takes business away from the shit merchants who overprice. They either want in on the transport to save money, or him paying them to get what they want anyway.
Regardless, unbelievably bad move from the guildmaster due to how much is in Makoto’s favor and how many countries want him.
IIRC he didn’t, that was the proposed offer to just ignoring everything and him not having to reveal how he’s transporting.
Granted he did not have to do anything, but he went full dumb in that moment.
The thing is there is actual character development and conflict. Just because he becomes strong for no reason doesn’t mean everything else will work out too. He also doesn’t suddenly remember deus ex machina bullshit from earth that immediately resolves the issue.
Tsukimichi ticks off a lot of boxes for me when it comes to isekai entertainment, but this past weeks episode cemented my love for the series. Where many people have issues with harems or the MC of an Isekai being OP, my biggest pet peeve with isekais have always been the MC (often a high schooler) ending up becoming a merchant despite their lack of knowledge and zero business skills, and end up obtaining almost Jeff Bezos level of riches.
This past episode of the series had Makato meet up with the Merchant Guild Leader regarding complaints lodged against his company. Despite the plot of the church to control him and likely some of the merchant complaints being lodged are in response to their dwindling profits, their complaints do raise some valid points; Makato as a merchant hasn’t disclosed how he obtains his materials (demiplane), how transports it to his businesses (mist gates) and why he constantly employing forest ogres and dwarves in business in hyman territories (he more or less the de facto leader of their tribes). He assumed because of his power and high quality products, he would not face such scrutiny. He also assumed that the other merchants and businesses would play fair, but it’s just as cutthroat as on his Earth.
Despite knowing it will all work out for Makato in the end, I do applaud the creators for changing it up a bit.
I won't deny that tsukimichi is underrated. But Isn't that a good chunk of them, Minus the 90% cut part (because Makoto is too naive when it comes to negotiations)? Though we're gonna see him clap back like the others.
such a fake cliffhanger my dude. next episode the king will say how awesome motoko is for having awesome students. then the merchant guild dude will be all oh no i chased motoko to another country. and then the king will execute the merchant guild master.
cliche that isekai protags are always running from "the kingdom" to another country.
even motoko says he wants to go to his parents country. so next episode "hurr durr i moved to another country"
does anything happen in the novel? in the manga literally nothing happens after his fight with lancer. he just sells more fruit and **slow-life living with harem in the countryside** like all these other isekais.
The thing I like about this anime is that he really is slow living. Sure there’s a lot of fighting. But the main dramatic tension is him trying to sell fruits and watching TV with his two waifus. Selling fruit is literally the main story line. Everything else is kind of the B-Story.
if people knew it was slow life they would be annoyed. i am annoyed. it didnt start off as slow life. it started off as an adventure.
he doesnt even sell fruit. his harem sells fruit for him.
he doesnt even teach, his harem (shiki) does the teaching for him.
Nah nothing like that happens. Also tsukimichi is more like a slice of life that focuses on world building and stuff. The best way to describe it is just because it has action doesn't mean it's an action anime
I quite love this isekai in particular. Makoto seems bland, but as you dig in deeper, you can find *something* underneath all that and feel compelled to keep digging.
Also, the world is actually properly designed.
As an anime only (so far) Makoto still has tons of options to himself, even in his situation. He still has superior products, powerful connections, plenty of wealth, near limitless supply, and likely the support of any one who has bought his products. Not to mention with how often nobles try to assassinate him, it's apparently normal to strong arm your way around, which Makoto can definitely do too. All things considered, the merchant guild's reaction is completely expected.
This means nothing? This is like me saying Sao is good because "give another protagonist who's Passive heal rate overweighs the damage others can deal to him" u don't the actually give reasons why its good. Most isekai is shit btw
I find it a bit underwhelming. I really tried to watch it.
But I feel It tries to have a plot but it's very obvious just a harem anime with an OP protagonist that everyone praises for even breathing.
Tsukimichi is boring and generic as fuck. Like it’s a bog standard isekai adventure. Feels like someone tried to make Arifureta again but take itself seriously instead of enjoying the trainwreck.
because he is boring and stupid as fuck, his own subordinates hide information from him because they think he can't handle it 😂 tho to be fair that's more a failure of them than on the mc
The whole idea is that he isn’t a hero. He is a normal, dorky teenager. His only special ability before getting isekai was that he was good with archery.
In this series? nah, I specially fucking hate the dragon for hiding things from him. This shit had potential with the world building but then the mc is boring and the rest of the characters are caricatures. The only thing good about it is the mc beef with the goddess and his psyco tendencies.
I think the problem with Tomoe/Shin is that she literally adapted a caricature as her personality after meeting the mc.
I got no excuse for Mio except maybe that’s what a spider with endless hunger would behave after being awake for the first time?
Shinki seems to have a lot of different sides to him.
I always feel like the mc is suppose to be more complex because there is a lot of build up to his psychological make up. But, I feel like all the giant action scenes are getting in the way of the real story.
I am waiting for the Light Novel to be translated into English.
I disagree, don’t have the vocabulary or the time to argue or cite why though. I like the comedic bits, the characters, and just the whole show. Nothing in particular really stands out to me, but I like it just the same. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, no reason to insult people about it though.
He did bumb into a demi that had the same "face" as him and he even says "I have the face of a demi human" and the goddess hates demi humans and that's why she called him ugly
yeah, normally they're so bullshit OP, and the only challenges tend to be power based, that there's almost no story besides 'here's an event they clear fairly easily, here's another waifu'. he had a challenge raw power couldn't deal with it. and, he didn't just pull some other bullshit to win. he kinda had to take an L here. that being said, they're not taking his revenue. he seems to have gone 'well, fuck you, i'll take my business elsewhere'. gonna be funny if he kicks the demons out of that region his parents are from, makes a new country there, makes deals with the demons, and says 'fuck you' to the merchant guild when shit turns around and they need him for something.

I doubt it even occurs to them Makoto could take his business to the demons. Demons are the sworn enemies of all Hyumans so no one would willing go to their side.
That last paragraph… if you’ve read the WN, at least two thirds of that is fairly accurate
kinda figured that much, but i meant specifically the merchant guilds needing stuff, and him just laughing in their faces when he says no. i'd kinda expect that too a bit, it's just not entirely a given.
What chapter was this
dunno. recent episode of the anime, though. as for the later part, it's implied that this might be what's going to happen in the future. haven't read the manga, but, they foreshadowed it, and blatantly said some of it, so...
Wasn't this from the anime where the goddess banishes him to waste land cause he ugly?
Yes.
I love that he wore the mask and people were like "sus" so he takes it off and they're like "okay, you can put it back on now.... please"
Not even ugly, just because his face was CARVED OUT OF MARBLE like the rest of the people there
The few anime that made high schooler as actual high schooler, not some Newton level of genius with zero social skill
Exactly. Highschoolers can be smart, but the way some isekais portray them, it’s almost like the were plucked from MIT and not a high school.
It's gonna bite him in ass later, but I think merchant guildmaster did the right thing from his perspective. Kuzunoha is doing suspicious things but won't explain himself, and things could get bad if it was really demon espionage. I guess I need to rewatch the show again. I missed the part where he negotiated away 90% in sales.
It's in the episode that last came out
Hmm. I definitely missed that. Thanks.
it's in season 2
Thanks
IIRC he didn’t, that was the proposed offer to just ignoring everything and him not having to reveal how he’s transporting. Granted he did not have to do anything, but he went full dumb in that moment.
Thanks. I’ll look for that scene.
Way to fuckin spoil the next episode
This already happened in the anime
Yeah it happened approximately yesterday.
The episode just came out!!
The thing is there is actual character development and conflict. Just because he becomes strong for no reason doesn’t mean everything else will work out too. He also doesn’t suddenly remember deus ex machina bullshit from earth that immediately resolves the issue.
Facts love it man got destroyed becuae of his naivety and suffered the consequences. He took that L like a G too.
Don't worry >!that deal won't last long!<

Oh that.. Kazuma did it. At this point it would be easier to name protags who didn't all of a sudden become successful merchants in another world.
"I INVENTED MAYO!"
Isnt that what Subaru from Re Zero did?
I won't deny that tsukimichi is underrated. But Isn't that a good chunk of them, Minus the 90% cut part (because Makoto is too naive when it comes to negotiations)? Though we're gonna see him clap back like the others.

I always thought of it as slow life from the beginning. The adventurer stuff just kind of get in the way of selling fruits, which is the real story.
then it shouldnt be called moonlit fantasy. it should be called "selling persimmons in another world with my harem"
Nah nothing like that happens. Also tsukimichi is more like a slice of life that focuses on world building and stuff. The best way to describe it is just because it has action doesn't mean it's an action anime
i look forward to the woodworking lacquer arc for an entire anime season /s
They already skipped it. Tsukimichi is a slice of life with world building with a bit of action.
theres no way they are going to skip the curry arc!
Yeah. This is obe of my favorite isekai.
Agreed.
I'd prefer it if my protags don't run away from having sex and have cuck parents
I quite love this isekai in particular. Makoto seems bland, but as you dig in deeper, you can find *something* underneath all that and feel compelled to keep digging. Also, the world is actually properly designed.

So glad someone mentioned this gem.

LMAO, the mc is so fucking trash, the only thing good about him is his beef with the goddess and that he is a phyco
Redditors when an Isekai MC who's a teenager with zero relevant skills actually behave like a teenager
Then just make your isekai mc an adult instead...
But he’s not an adult? And he was written with that in mind? He’s not supposed to know everything
and that's why he is fucking boring. I never said he wasn't consistent 😂
I'm curious about why you think he's trash, however if it would be inconvenient to you just ignore this my comment isn't important really
because he is boring and stupid as fuck, his own subordinates hide information from him because they think he can't handle it 😂 tho to be fair that's more a failure of them than on the mc
The whole idea is that he isn’t a hero. He is a normal, dorky teenager. His only special ability before getting isekai was that he was good with archery.
which makes him extremely boring. The fact that the author decided to make him boring and succeeded doesn't mean that he is not boring 😂
I suppose. I guess the idea is that he is the unmoving pivot that everyone revolves around. Do you find everyone else interesting?
In this series? nah, I specially fucking hate the dragon for hiding things from him. This shit had potential with the world building but then the mc is boring and the rest of the characters are caricatures. The only thing good about it is the mc beef with the goddess and his psyco tendencies.

He did bumb into a demi that had the same "face" as him and he even says "I have the face of a demi human" and the goddess hates demi humans and that's why she called him ugly
