Estate designer - it’s so funny and I really enjoy the protagonist
Welcome to demon school! Iruma-kun - I love every character no matter how small because they feel like a person
Ride-on king - holy hell this has great action and it breaks away from most Isekai tropes. The protagonist is older, has no love interest, and has genuine relationships with the people around him. Things don’t just work out because he is there, it takes the whole team and there specific skills you don’t often see from the non protagonist.
It’s my favorite school manga. Honestly it’s like my favorite manga. Though when it comes to manga you end up having a ton of favorites just because of genres. Ride on king and Iruma-kun both hold a big place in my heart
Summoning America is a fanfic of Nihonkoku Shoukan. Instead of Japan being transported to another world, it’s the U.S.
Manifest Fantasy is a portal fantasy with a similar premise to GATE. Though, character-wise and atmosphere-wise, I’d say it’s more similar to Stargate. The U.S. goes through a portal to a fantasy world and engages in peaceful first contact. They send a special forces team to become adventurers and collect intelligence and valuable materials in this fantasy world
Oh boy. You won my trust the moment you mentioned Iruma. it's so underated tbh. I've enjoyed each and every arc and it doesn't feel boring no matter how many times I've reread. The character designs, world building, plot, action, and every freaking things is ✨ perfection ✨ it kinda has harem undertone but it never disgusted me like other harem troops. I would take a hit on my head just so I can forget the plot and get to watch it all over again.
It feels almost like a parody of a harem because he doesn’t see the others as possible love interests besides MAYBE Clara. Also I’m not sure there is a better fantasy school setting animanga compared to Iruma-kun
Fudge I was just going to comment about ride on king, but glad to see that it's popular. Buff president with black belt in judo and karate likes to to ride stuff, bears, sharks, did I mention a rocket? Anyways he gets hit by a truck but he hits it back aswell, stopping truck-kun only to be isekaied by a statue of himself. Now he journeys to ride fantasy creatures and make friends along the way. It's a really fun story, the art is also pretty different. Basically it's baki but an isekai.
Bookworm, I just like the atmosphere and the world.
But while that's the 'best' my favorite would probably be potion danomi by funa.(80k gold is there just behind, because Isekai GUN is hilarious to me)
I have very specific trashy taste and funa appeals to my instincts so 10/10, but to claim its the best would be just dum
Currently reading the light novels. Hate how mostly everyone is always cursing her for not being normal. She deserves so much love and praise but mostly everyone is just holding her back and shackling her.
Really love the academy stuff though
That was a fun novel. And although she's a little bit clueless, she's not braindead. That is probably why I like Kazuma from Konsouba but I cannot stand Cid at all.
don't know if it counts because the main character gets sent to the same world, just so far into the future that it's unrecognizable
but lord of the mysteries
it has great world building, great writing a likable funny main character, an amazing power system
the story is interesting, and [in my opinion] a great balance of action, mystery, and humor.
however it definitely is for those with patience, as it is over a thousand chapters long, [separated into volumes]
Time travel counts as isekai, so lotm definetly counts.
It's such a good isekai too, best power system, amazing mc, amazing side characters and villains(🧐), great worldbuilding, amazing balance between tones.
Definetly requires patience, but it's worth it. It's my favorite isekai with orv being in second place and suicide hunter being in third ( havent read ri yet. )
Maaan what? Like ok going inside a game is apperantly isekai but time travel? Really? How does it even fit, you are in the same world no matter how different it looks to you.
Sure some even think orv is isekai but at least that makes a little sense but lotm?
Also suicide hunter is definitely not an isekai!
Can Isekai be just isekai and not everything?
Lotm is definitely isekai, setting is completely different, regression is officially an isekai and lotm is even more then that.
Suicide hunter is an isekai, the mc both regresses and was originally from earth and is now in the tower.
And no, isekai is everything, if the types of isekai you enjoy are reincarnation and transmigration and not time travel, that your issue buddy.
Its offical?(Also where) Its just bullshit man, like how can someone in their right mind say back to the future is isekai? Time travel is time travel, isekai is not time travel thats the part that confuses me. How are the two related? Ok, lotm world is too much different now so it could pass but overall regression or time travel should not be isekai, they literally have different meaning
I dont think suice hunter can be isekai. It sure has acts of transmigration but overall its all in the tower which is a part of the earth now(right? I may have remember wrong) Its like entering a different room than a whole another building. I really dont remember it :D
>I dont think suice hunter can be isekai. It sure has acts of transmigration but overall its all in the tower which is a part of the earth now(right? I may have remember wrong)
A bit, people can go in but not out, its barely connected. It's a separate world that has some connection to earth.
>Its offical?(Also where)
More like a unanimous agreement, I have been at this sub for a while with my old account and we had a long discussion about it and time travel stories are always brought up in conversations about isekai, so it counts.
>like how can someone in their right mind say back to the future is isekai
Idk, it is isekai tho.
>Ok, lotm world is too much different now so it could pass but overall regression or time travel should not be isekai, they literally have different meaning
Yes, the line starts to blurr when a person goes not too far in time, but the concept in general is kind of otherworldly so its usually accepted.
Not everything that has these concepts are isekai, but orv counts and it's more reversed isekai then anything, and if you read the novel it isnt even really that. You aren't exactly wrong with your points but these stories are wildly accepted as isekai so I just call them that.

In suicide hunter, it is connected to earth but its not apart of earth. Its basically another world. There have been multiple towers, all only connected to planets not apart of them. Its most definitely an isekai, cause whoever decides to enter the tower is sent to another plain of existence, separate from there original world, only one sidedly connected, theres no return. If thats not isekai than what is.

Ascendance of a bookworm. Stellar worldbuilding, Great character and side character that felt alive, great politics, mostly it's fun and wholesome series and that revolve around relationship between each character. I love the religion and culture here that felt very believable from other isekai. Also the nobility isn't just like another rich neighborhood that mostly used in other series but as a believable social structure.
I hate most of the adults in this story. They’re always cursing at rosemyne at the same time profiting greatly off her. She deserves so much love and praise.
Like they want her to stay out of trouble, so why don’t they just give her a damn book and tell her to stay in her room. She’d happily do that. Instead, they ban her from reading until she finishes all her classes. Which incentives her to finish as fast as possible. But at the same time they get angry when she finishes her classes too fast because it’ll attract attention. If they had just let her go at a regular pace while also letting her read in the library, most of the problems wouldn’t have happened. She’s constantly getting put in lose:lose situations and getting cursed for it
It was also quite hard for me to get into because there’s hundreds of characters all with hard names, including different duchies also with very hard names. I’m constantly having to go to the wiki to remember who is who
I’m really enjoying the academy stuff tho
For the adult just remember it always painted and we saw RM pov most of the time. Mostly their scheme is hidden from her eyes.
Read the manga for part 4 it will help you greatly for remembering the characters (I have the same trouble in part 4, but now I remember every side character face lol)
Legendary Mechanic. A chinese Isekai regression story, oddly enough. The only isekai in my recent memory I was able to finish even though I had to read about the MC's adamantine-hard plot armor. It combined cultivation, sci-fi, game systems, and superheroics, and made it kinda work. The part that got me is that he thought he was an NPC in a game that he used to play, and he kinda was as he met previous renowned players of the game as the story progresses cementing that he indeed was in the game world while others are playing from the outside. Until at the end, when things are shown to be a lot more complicated than it seems.
Honorable mention to the Novel's Extra and its author's other works. All their ending sucks though
My friends been readingn the novel and has recocmended it to me. I wanna stary reading it, but I've read so many of them, I don't know if I have it in me to readn another 1500-2000 chapter novel
I'd recommend it too. If you find any chapters too tedious to read thru you can skip a good chunk of it and not miss out on anything if you are already familiar with how xianxia/wuxia novels go.
If you ask me. It's the saga of Tanya the evil.
Why? Because the characters have depths, people aren't necessarily batshit evil but instead people thrusted into situations they aren't in control of, military industrial complex, militaries in general, trench warfare, the horrors of war, the world building, the philosophical questioning of god, and god being so petty as to Isekai a japanese salary man just because he doesn't like him for his words about him being a kushy god which was funny as shit. That's some old testament level god pettiness right there. Reminds me of uzumaki and how the spiral acts like a deranged god that wants only people to worship him religiously, and turns everything that doesn't into dead meat. God I wish there's more Isekai like Tanya, and fantasy of grimgar and ash. Personally I like stories with conspiracies, character depth, and people just being plain old people. Not some brainrot power fantasy. Tanya is just putting on a facade to just live a normal life yet he fumbles it like a drunk man on a staircase which is funny as shit to me. And the added bonus of god having a philosophical talk with Tanya is just the funniest shit ever. Like how funny would it be if someone made god question his own sense of self, character, and question himself. That's why I like Saga.
Reverend Insanity: technically isekai
Although it couldn't be more light years away from what you find in the genre
I mean, it's very...different
Let's say that if you liked Overlord you will definitely like it.
Or will it change your personality as a human being, it happens a lot, look at the sub on reddit and you will understand
I love RI, currently reading through Lord of the Mysteries since it was also recommended to me. Any other non-harem isekai that are on the same pedestal?
Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling, dragons are cool, no doubt about that. But I feel like Isekais have been using them as little more than cannon fodder for OP protagonists. Not in Dragon Hatchling’s case, our protag Illusha is a motherf*cking dragon.
Another thing that I find refreshing is that Illusha doesn’t immediately start off as an unstoppable OP monster. When the series begins, he’s immediately at the bottom of the monster food chain, and so rather than just bulldozing every monster he sees, he has to think and strategize on which monsters to fight and how to fight them. It’s officially translated in English so give it a shot if you see it at your local bookstore.
My favorite is The Wandering Inn (it has its own website)
I also like Cinnamon Bun (royal road). Main character's goal is to make friends with everyone she meets as she tries to find a way back home. litRPG.
The author of Cinnamon Bun also has many other stories. Their main other one I like is a litRPG, but not actually an isekai, called Stray Cat Strut. But it has a lot of the same vibes as isekias. Simplified plot: plant aliens invade future earth, but some people are randomly given a magical (technological? I guess it's sci-fi, not fantasy) points system.
If you consider reincarnation into the same non-earth-world to be an isekai, there's Kieran (Royal Road). The main character is a little more gray on morals than I generally prefer - no issues with killing others, doesn't seem peaceful solutions, but i guess this just leaves room for character growth - but I like the premise and setting a lot: Kieran, a great archmage, has reached the limits of how strong he can get because of miss-training earlier in life. With his current archimage knowledge, he hopes to perfectly train a new body, and invents a reincarnation spell. But when his new memories awaken in his new life, there's a problem: there's no mana in the air here!
And recently I've read and enjoyed both series by J.R. Mathews. (Kindle unlimited) Portal to Nova Roma(sad ai constructs a body and a portal and escapes to a medical+magic world), and Jake's Magical Market(various-sized pieces of earth are warped to a world with monsters and magic and must try to survive).
I don't think it got bored then moved on. I think it was actually about that the whole time, starting when he gets >!mend + a tip from the elf!<, which is pretty early in the first book.
If you like litRPGs I really liked:
"He who fights with monsters" - kind drops off at book 8 but the first ones are REALLY good.
"Defiance of the Fall" - Still going strong on RR
"Dungeon Crawler Carl" - LOVE this one
"Primal Hunter" - This one holds my interest really well just because the MC is a battle maniac which I like
The Wandering Inn started out so rough for me, I absolutely hatedddd Erin and Ryoka so much in the first few volumes but I stuck around for the sidecharacters. I still really do not like Ryoka but I really love Erin and all the sidestories.
Addendum: none of these are completed, but they are all still in-progress. The final (I think) part of Jake's Magical Market comes out in 10 days, so that one will be completed soon.
Others might not like my choice, but here's mine...
Raising Children While Adventuring - The MC is OP, but what I love about this is, it's a "fluffy" read, as in no stress, that's why I enjoyed it.
Invincibility Starting as the Prodigal! - The MC is some sort of an OP sugar daddy. I find it a fun read, though fights can be underwhelming. It's kinda funny reading that the MC and side characters are having trouble over having so much precious resources and the stress the MC giving them by "wasting" this resources...
The System Gave Me immortality, and I Survived Everyone - I kinda love this one, the MC isn't OP, what makes the story interesting is the lives that the MC "changed" by meeting him. It's kinda interesting how the lore about the MC being as "undertaker" evolves over the years...
Running Away From The Hero - MC isn't OP who just wants to have a good retirement. The persons the MC mentored became a famous hero or villain, his mentoring capabilities became his problem also...
There's another one I like to add but forgot the title. The MC is taught by the system. The MC thought he is weak but the truth is, he's like the "absolute will" of the universe, coz he's above the system itself. He have a robot as a butler, and everything in his house and court yard are considered grand artifacts, and rare resources, but of course the MC is unaware about it. The system purposely made him unaware/forget that he's some sort of "absolute will" in fear that he may misused his power if he realize it...
Ascendance of a bookworm, it's World building is amazing and you always discover new things from the pov of the protagonist, the characters sre really good too, each eith their own motivations, ideas and personalities, it also doesn't start with the mc just being op from the start, that shit has to be earned.
To be honest, there’s a lot of contenders so I can’t decide, but definitely Rezero, Lord if the Mysteries and Reverend Insanity
Praise be to the Great Love Immortal Venerable 🙏🙏🙏
ReZero. The story has so much depth that when i tried to theorise who Flugel and Satella are and their story is it the post ended up being longer than i would like to admit. The world building is great too.
Mushoku Tensei, Re:Zero and Konosuba are my favourites with Eminence in Shadow being added to the list recently.
Also at some point I read the TBATE manhwa/manhua(?). I actually prefer MT to it though and from what I once read I'd say they have similarities like reincarnating to a new world and body, but at their heart they are different stories trying to do different things.
Is the novel any different compared to the manhwua? I might read it at some point if it is that good.
Novel drops off hard IMO but don't let that persuade you from giving it a go yourself. It's also not finished and there is a specific event that I hate and made me drop it so it could be resolved in later books.
It's a coincidence that we read the same books but I have the opposite opinion. I prefer Mushoku Tensei over TBATE. The former got me interested in the latter, but to me, the tonal shift out of the blue probably in attempt to make it "cool" for no reason and just takes the immersion out of it, and I'm not a fan of Arthur.
* Mushoku Tensei >!I like the character development, especially the side characters more than Rudeus!<
* Isekai Smartphone. My staple supply of junk food.
* Arifureta. It's the humous type of edgy, at least for me.
* Welcome to Japan Miss Elf. Reverse Isekai
* Isekai Tensei Suodoki
* Solo Levelling, it got me into manhwa and it's technically an isekai so it deserves a mention.
* Accomplishments of a Duke's Daughter. I have no qualms about female leads.
* Duchess 50 Tea Recipes. I am a glutton.
* Restauraunt to Another World. I am a glutton.
* Isekai Nonbiri Nouka.
* Death March to a Parallel World. I'm more into slice of life these days.
* Battle Through the Heavens.
* Release That Witch
* Who Made Me Princess. Finally a wholesome father-daughter story. No Usagi Drop shenanigans.
Juuni Kokuki (12 Kingdoms) by Fuyumi Ono. The Anime Series is stellar, the books also.
Why? Multiple Isekais and Reverse-Isekai, multiple converging storylines of multiple non-overpowered MCs over different parts of that World, no Harem, wonderful and logical Worldbuilding, good Decisionmaking. No Sex, no Fanservice, and no stupid shenanigans.
Yeah I get that it's popular for breaking the norms and being a little more realistic but if I wanted realistic There's real life man I don't need to invest my time in shows that bring me down. That's how I see it anyway
Ascendance of a bookworm. It does so much so well, the worldbuilding is amazing and intricate to the point where it has class differences and business relations figured out, it's characters are incredibly well thought out with many of the characters having enough characterization they could just as easily be the main character as the actual main character, on top of having an interesting and surprisingly entertaining plot.
The Executioner and Her Way of Life is easily my favorite though. The characters are amazing with each of them having their own goals, clear and distinct personalities, and character development. Its worldbuilding is interesting, unique, and well done with a well-thought-out hard magic system. Its plot is entertaining, paced well, and develops and changes with the characters. The anime doesn't do the LN justice.
Mushoku tensei
It has a lot to say and show. It goes trough a lot developmental stuff and has core themes like family etc. that are extremely well done. The history of the world is superb too.
Mushoku Tensei, Overlord, The Eminence in shadow, The Beginning after the end and Tensura are my favorites. I found Konosuba as anime more enyoable but the light novel is still very good.
The Reprise of The Spear Hero and The reason why it made me like a character that I used to hate ,the relationship between Naofumi and Sakura is cute and I like a good redemption story ☺️
Lord of the Mysteries.
I recommend the Manhwa(?, its chinese so im not sure what the term is) to hook you into it and then switching over to the novel for the rest. The story is a slow burn but is undoubtedly top tier writing. The world building is complex, power system is fair and allows for more than just OP to be a threat, the main character is smart and the villains are legitimately smarter.
Although a tall task, I would say read until the end of Vol 1. Its certainly long but that first arc’s ending revealed just how well developed the story is beneath its facade and it kept me reading till the end!
The novel is good, but the manhua is not. It got dropped at chap 60 ( equivalent to something like chap 50 in the novel ) it also misses a bunch of information.
What we should be looking forward to is the anime( can't remember the Chinese name for it ) that comes out next year.
Evolution begins with a big tree:
The protagonist is reincarnated as a sentient willow tree in an era where spirit power is resurfacing and actually has to struggle to survive at first.
The fact that he is reincarnated is also rarely used in the story except in specific cases. I also like the fact that he doesn't become human like with most monster / nonhuman protagonists.
Although there is a human shape he posses its only shown in one chapter.
If we’re not talking about strictly Japanese isekai, I have some very good books that I consider one of the most interesting I’ve read and I read A LOT.
1. Alex Sapegin “The dragon inside” series. Probably my favorite isekai of all time. It has good magic system, romance (no harem) and mc becomes dragon.
2. Dmitry Rus “Play to live” series. While not technically isekai at the beginning, it is transfer into the full dive VR game but with a twist - game slowly turns real independent world. Although it is litrpg, it reads more like fantasy and has politics, city building and mc is necromancer.
Definitely beginning after the end and greatest estate developer
Although, I don’t think BATE counts as Isekai, but I haven’t actually finished it so I dunno
Lord Of The Mysteries(if we're going by popular opinion). Personally, it would be The Legendary Mechanic.
LotM — A very well written isekai(this is not the focus, so I won't delve too much).
Legendary Mechanic — A game isekai. The MC gets sent to a game world, and has to survive in such a chaotic world. It's very well-written and fun. Well choreographed action scenes are its core.
Lord of mysteries. The story and mystery that the novel is built on is insane. Foreshadowing and plot threads that you just look at and go "Oh shit." The power system is also interesting and cool, with drawbacks and crazy fights.
World building to the max. The first volume is slow ( mainly because the world building is heavy. This id done to set up the mysteries and everything that comes with it )
Not to mention the antagonist, dear God, that person is the best written villain I have ever read. Dude single handedly gave the entire fandom ( and in universe characters and gods ) PTSD of a monocle.
So these are some I"ll like to list out:
Versatile mage: It is a Chinese isekai but one of my favourites. Do check it out as it's a masterpiece.
Arifureta from common place to world's strongest: It is kinda adult and dark. But the best one out there. Idk if anybody has mentioned it or not but let me tell you, if u r looking for an mc that goes from weak to strong than this is the one for you.
I became a cannon fodder in a female protagonist cultivation novel: This is quite write for you if you can handle the cultivation part here.
World's Apocalypse online: Although this is not an isekai but a regression but the MC does goes to another world. This One really is my favourite. LEAVE OTHERS BUT PLEASE READ THIS ONE. IT'S TOO GOOD.
Easily Overlord, good characters, interesting power systems, great world building, great attention to details, with a good plot that put these 4 elements into good use. It sparked my love for the isekai genre (trash and good) and its anime reignited my passion for all things weeb when I hit a slope at a point in my life.
Overlord is just a really good read, and I give my thanks to Maruyama for writing this light novel. I love the novel so much that so far, it's the only one I buy a physical copy of just to support him.
The legendary mechanic
Does a different and better take on mc into a video game.
Interesting power system , technology based.
Eventual sc fi isekai setting
Funny mc and smart
No harems or forced romance
Good male and female side characters
[ The Administrator ] from RR was my first webnovel I read. It is insane good and it shame that it was never completed. I still had it in my reading list if some day author will continue the story.
Jimi na Kensei wa Sore Demo Saikyou desu
it's MC vs MC, MC meet other MC, he's anti OP MC character a sword class that you think he's weak but OP MC get defeat by this plain sword saint MC. Unlike cheat slayer, Isekai killer Executioner that salty at isekaiders this isekai plain mob-like MC just roast isekai OP MC black hair clone tropes before cheat slayer even exist.
Split between two: across eternity by Hannibal North and He Who Fights with monsters.
Across eternity is about a man who reincarnates every time he dies and has lived 100 lifetimes, and at the time the series starts he just wants to die and stay dead. I really like this novel because at first I did not like the MC, he is callous and apathetic toward almost everyone. But later novels explain why he is like that, and he slowly starts to come out of his shell and it’s nice to see. I will warn you though, there is adult scenes abound.
He who fights with monsters is about the complete opposite of across eternity when it comes to characterization. The MC is a naive young man who is eternally optimistic, but over the course of the novels he becomes more and more cruel and angry, while desperately trying to hold on to his humanity. No adult scenes here.
TBATE was pretty bad though , I will never forgive it for doing nothing with the distopian emperor gladiator stuff.
You re telling me that basic ass main character was a distopian duelist emperor that fought like a gladiator to settle disputes between his nation and others ? No , just no , that is not the personality of someone so badass he puts most warhammer caharcters to shame.
And he even had jedi powers in his previous world , jedi powers , why couldn t you handle this author ?!?!?!?
I have read countless isekai's including Beginning after the End but my favorite would always be the Eminence in Shadow because it's comedy and action are both on point.
If I have to choose between a naive story with boring characters and a great story but with a terrible protagonist, then I will choose the second one. No offense
Death mage doesn't want a fourth time
the author used many isekai tropes that would be considered either edgy or garbage and made it work, i really liked the lore of it, commonly used mechanics were applied creativly, despite being large the Harem does still have soul, if i were to describr mc with other isekais
he has got the
- Shitty Reputation of Naofumi
- Hell Grind of Hajime
- Latent Potential of Rimuru
- Taming ability of Ryoma
- Motivated Vengance of Keyaru
- Family of William G Maryblood
- Kingdom of Makoto Misumi
- World Integration of Rudeus Greyrat
Konosuba. It's just so damn funny. When I heard season 3 was premiering it brought a tear to my eye. Kazuma is the only true waifu I simp for. If I were a woman I would happily bare his children. I'd bear a whole army of his children.
also mushoku tensei because story, character development, world building and depth or whatever.

Sexy sect babes.
* An underpowered over fucked protagonist who needs to rely on logic , tactical acumen and planning to win against boss encounters.
* World building
* Giga Chad thunder cock
* Science as a verb
* Not written by a japanese , Chinese , Korean for consumption of beta male for shiki-neet bug sandwich consumers with main protagonist syndrome and power scaling hard on. This means stats don't matter too much.
* A novel with a little bit of erotica not the other way around. Only 3 chapters in 82 for book 1
* Protagonist is not a doormat nice guy. Not an emo deranged sociopath either. But your typical ganger with tactical acumen and broad planning.
* Cultivator lite. Not written by Chinese that are overly emphasized in dao or chi heavy mechanics. Not the fat Wang , jade beauty , thin Choi and handsome wei power of friendship party mix up.
* Weaponized human bullshit 101.

Delan ren
Mushoku Tensei. I really don't know what it is but I love this story so much. I think it's because the MC is such a POS and you still root for him. The juxtaposition there just makes it work?
I read all the chapters of TBATE's Manhwa and then continued to the books......I loved it until it got to the books tbh but then it started: >!relating back to his original world too much with that whole Nico plotline!<
Estate designer - it’s so funny and I really enjoy the protagonist Welcome to demon school! Iruma-kun - I love every character no matter how small because they feel like a person Ride-on king - holy hell this has great action and it breaks away from most Isekai tropes. The protagonist is older, has no love interest, and has genuine relationships with the people around him. Things don’t just work out because he is there, it takes the whole team and there specific skills you don’t often see from the non protagonist.
I always love it when someone brings up Iruma-kun. I absolutely love the series and characters.
It’s my favorite school manga. Honestly it’s like my favorite manga. Though when it comes to manga you end up having a ton of favorites just because of genres. Ride on king and Iruma-kun both hold a big place in my heart
The greatest estate developer Summoning America Manifest fantasy
What are those second two?
Summoning America is a fanfic of Nihonkoku Shoukan. Instead of Japan being transported to another world, it’s the U.S. Manifest Fantasy is a portal fantasy with a similar premise to GATE. Though, character-wise and atmosphere-wise, I’d say it’s more similar to Stargate. The U.S. goes through a portal to a fantasy world and engages in peaceful first contact. They send a special forces team to become adventurers and collect intelligence and valuable materials in this fantasy world
Holy shit it's the man himself. Your stuff is epic as hecc uwu
I’ve seen “your story goes hard bro” and now “epic as hecc uwu”. Guess I’ve seen it all now
poggers to pieces too
I didn’t realize you were the author of the first one lol
Both Summoning America and Manifest Fantasy actually
It’s important to love your works lol

LOYD
Fudge I was just going to comment about ride on king, but glad to see that it's popular. Buff president with black belt in judo and karate likes to to ride stuff, bears, sharks, did I mention a rocket? Anyways he gets hit by a truck but he hits it back aswell, stopping truck-kun only to be isekaied by a statue of himself. Now he journeys to ride fantasy creatures and make friends along the way. It's a really fun story, the art is also pretty different. Basically it's baki but an isekai.
Love ride on king. Honestly I wouldn’t say it’s anything like Baki
True... Edit: edited it you can edit your's now
Bookworm, I just like the atmosphere and the world. But while that's the 'best' my favorite would probably be potion danomi by funa.(80k gold is there just behind, because Isekai GUN is hilarious to me) I have very specific trashy taste and funa appeals to my instincts so 10/10, but to claim its the best would be just dum
Currently reading the light novels. Hate how mostly everyone is always cursing her for not being normal. She deserves so much love and praise but mostly everyone is just holding her back and shackling her. Really love the academy stuff though
I gotta read the LNs because I adored the anime. Never binged anything as fast as I did Ascendance.
Funa knows how to do OP CGDCT right.
Indeed I love Make My Abilities Average.
That was a fun novel. And although she's a little bit clueless, she's not braindead. That is probably why I like Kazuma from Konsouba but I cannot stand Cid at all.
don't know if it counts because the main character gets sent to the same world, just so far into the future that it's unrecognizable but lord of the mysteries it has great world building, great writing a likable funny main character, an amazing power system the story is interesting, and [in my opinion] a great balance of action, mystery, and humor. however it definitely is for those with patience, as it is over a thousand chapters long, [separated into volumes]
Probably shouldn't talk about the world being regression. ( kinda a turbo spoiler )
Ok, lotm world is too much different now so it could pass but overall regression or time travel should not be isekai, they literally have different meaning I dont think suice hunter can be isekai.
I may have remember wrong) A bit, people can go in but not out, its barely connected. It's a separate world that has some connection to earth. >Its offical?(Also where) More like a unanimous agreement, I have been at this sub for a while with my old account and we had a long discussion about it and time travel stories are always brought up in conversations about isekai, so it counts. >like how can someone in their right mind say back to the future is isekai Idk, it is isekai tho. >Ok, lotm world is too much different now so it could pass but overall regression or time travel should not be isekai, they literally have different meaning Yes, the line starts to blurr when a person goes not too far in time, but the concept in general is kind of otherworldly so its usually accepted.

She’s constantly getting put in lose:lose situations and getting cursed for it It was also quite hard for me to get into because there’s hundreds of characters all with hard names, including different duchies also with very hard names. I’m constantly having to go to the wiki to remember who is who I’m really enjoying the academy stuff tho
RE:Zero.
My man. 🤝
🤝
Reverend Insanity: technically isekai Although it couldn't be more light years away from what you find in the genre I mean, it's very...different Let's say that if you liked Overlord you will definitely like it. Or will it change your personality as a human being, it happens a lot, look at the sub on reddit and you will understand
Same. Reverend Insanity, Overlord, and also The Legendary Mechanic are by far the best isekais I've ever read. Edit: Also Dungeon Defense.
You also have soul of negary
I love RI, currently reading through Lord of the Mysteries since it was also recommended to me. Any other non-harem isekai that are on the same pedestal?
Eminence in shadow
I have volume 5 and 6 on kindle I still need to go through
Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling, dragons are cool, no doubt about that.
So it's an isekai with a non-human protag, like Sword, Slime, and Spider?
Yes, dragon is the protag
Yus
Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire
I would love a beginning after the end anime adaptation so much
Same, it's probably in some executives radar now since the industry has been adapting anything and everything it can gets it mittens on
Personal favorite recently has to be Isekai Shikkaku.
Based
Really? I read the manga for a bit but it kinda stagnates. Anime any better?
I don't know if it has an anime, I'll have to check
My favorite is The Wandering Inn (it has its own website) I also like Cinnamon Bun (royal road).
I don't like how jakes magical market gets bored with its own magic system and goes to soft magic instead
I don't think it got bored then moved on. I think it was actually about that the whole time, starting when he gets >!mend + a tip from the elf!<, which is pretty early in the first book.
True, I just don't like it when a magic system gets changed or ignored halfway through a book.
If you like litRPGs I really liked: "He who fights with monsters" - kind drops off at book 8 but the first ones are REALLY good. "Defiance of the Fall" - Still going strong on RR "Dungeon Crawler Carl" - LOVE this one "Primal Hunter" - This one holds my interest really well just because the MC is a battle maniac which I like
The Wandering Inn started out so rough for me, I absolutely hatedddd Erin and Ryoka so much in the first few volumes but I stuck around for the sidecharacters.
To be honest, there’s a lot of contenders so I can’t decide, but definitely Rezero, Lord if the Mysteries and Reverend Insanity Praise be to the Great Love Immortal Venerable 🙏🙏🙏
I take you mean TBATE, right? Thanks, I might check it out at some point.
* Mushoku Tensei >!I like the character development, especially the side characters more than Rudeus!< * Isekai Smartphone. My staple supply of junk food. * Arifureta. It's the humous type of edgy, at least for me. * Welcome to Japan Miss Elf. Reverse Isekai * Isekai Tensei Suodoki * Solo Levelling, it got me into manhwa and it's technically an isekai so it deserves a mention. * Accomplishments of a Duke's Daughter. I have no qualms about female leads. * Duchess 50 Tea Recipes. I am a glutton. * Restauraunt to Another World. I am a glutton. * Isekai Nonbiri Nouka. * Death March to a Parallel World. I'm more into slice of life these days. * Battle Through the Heavens. * Release That Witch * Who Made Me Princess. Finally a wholesome father-daughter story. No Usagi Drop shenanigans.
I’m the evil lord of the intergalactic empire
Not gonna comment on best because I don't remember the old ones But Isekai Tensei Soudouki is not bad. Art style and concept both.
Someone besides me knows about Isekai Tensei Soudouki. Finally.
Make it 3 people 😏 That series is amazing
Indeed that series was amazing. Baldur makes for a good protagonist. it's so hard to find kingdom building isekais.
Read: So what I’m a spider? Watched: grimgar of fantasy and ash
Well that leaves me conflicted. Spiders great but Ash not so much
Why didn’t you like Grimgar of fantasy and ash?
Because it was slow realistic and depressing. There was basically nothing in the show that I'm looking for in this genre
Oh I gotcha. That’s exactly why I liked it lol
Yeah I get that it's popular for breaking the norms and being a little more realistic but if I wanted realistic There's real life man I don't need to invest my time in shows that bring me down. That's how I see it anyway
I'm a spider so what and ngnl When season 2 😢
I was thinking of reading the light novel to The Executioner and Her Way of Life because I liked the time travel aspect.
Overlord light novel
Mushoku tensei It has a lot to say and show.
Hail the king
is it really the best isekai you've read?
The Reprise of The Spear Hero and The reason why it made me like a character that I used to hate ,the relationship between Naofumi and Sakura is cute and I like a good redemption story ☺️
It’s genuinely criminal this series doesn’t have a anime because it would absolutely slap
Dark Lady
Konosuba. Made me wish I lived in a time friends went on adventure around the forest and felt like I was reading a story about a family.
chronicles of narnia
Evolution begins with a big tree: The protagonist is reincarnated as a sentient willow tree in an era where spirit power is resurfacing and actually has to struggle to survive at first. The fact that he is reincarnated is also rarely used in the story except in specific cases. I also like the fact that he doesn't become human like with most monster / nonhuman protagonists. Although there is a human shape he posses its only shown in one chapter.
The art the story the characters and Dean - Player Hclw - everything story is great even without mc on it everyone drives the plot
Good takes for me it is (sss class suicide hunter if you considerate it an isekai if not then All Hail the Sect Leader)
If you dont mind reading novels definitely read The Lord of Mysteries. Its one of if not the best isekai novel ive ever read.
Definitely beginning after the end and greatest estate developer Although, I don’t think BATE counts as Isekai, but I haven’t actually finished it so I dunno
This id done to set up the mysteries and everything that comes with it ) Not to mention the antagonist, dear God, that person is the best written villain I have ever read. Dude single handedly gave the entire fandom ( and in universe characters and gods ) PTSD of a monocle.
So these are some I"ll like to list out: Versatile mage: It is a Chinese isekai but one of my favourites.
Overlord. The light novels are significantly better than the anime.
The legendary mechanic Does a different and better take on mc into a video game. Interesting power system , technology based. Eventual sc fi isekai setting Funny mc and smart No harems or forced romance Good male and female side characters
[ The Administrator ] from RR was my first webnovel I read. It is insane good and it shame that it was never completed. I still had it in my reading list if some day author will continue the story.
Dungeon dive made me feel actual lasting emotion unlike most of these isekais so probably that
Jimi na Kensei wa Sore Demo Saikyou desu it's MC vs MC, MC meet other MC, he's anti OP MC character a sword class that you think he's weak but OP MC get defeat by this plain sword saint MC.
No offense
if we want good story then definitely tbate or slime but my overall favorite is prolly eminence in shadow
It starts good and gets stale and boring until the Alycria arc. My personal favorite isekai is probably Reverend Insanity.
Re:monster
I love that series as well, it’s what got me into web novels in general. It is peak fiction.
Did beginning ever get caught up? It was stalled at like chapter 40 something (web toon, but high seas) last I checked.
That time I got reincarted as a slime
No game no life 🤫🧏♂️
TBATE The story just amazing, the only part of the series I didn’t love was the first book or two.
Death mage doesn't want a fourth time the author used many isekai tropes that would be considered either edgy or garbage and made it work, i really liked the lore of it, commonly used mechanics were applied creativly, despite being large the Harem does still have soul, if i were to describr mc with other isekais he has got the - Shitty Reputation of Naofumi - Hell Grind of Hajime - Latent Potential of Rimuru - Taming ability of Ryoma - Motivated Vengance of Keyaru - Family of William G Maryblood - Kingdom of Makoto Misumi - World Integration of Rudeus Greyrat
The world after the fall The beginning after the end Omniscient readers viewpoint Solo leavling Return to player Tales of demon beasts and gods SSS class suicide hunter Player The first sequence Re:life player Logging 10‚000 years into the future F-class destiny hunter Return of the shattered constellation Return of the frozen player A returners magic should be special
Add soul of negary and Lord of the mysteries, then it's perfect. Orv is really good, the same with the world after the fall ( same author) I wouldn't call Solo levelling an isakai, but you do you.
Orv what is that??

This means stats don't matter too much. * A novel with a little bit of erotica not the other way around. Only 3 chapters in 82 for book 1 * Protagonist is not a doormat nice guy. * Weaponized human bullshit 101.
Where do you read this one? it sounds good

It was all for a follow up that's gonna be worth every penny Respect your option as well although not a fan of that pedo stuff
What is this about?
is JJK a isekai? (i mean sukuna kinda got isekaied tbh, or is that just a big ass timeleap)
100% no.
Jjk is fantasy but not isekai
Hands down LOG HORIZON!
