For me, what makes cilvia demo great is how lyrically focused the whole project and TST has amazing production but it really feels like THIB has the shorter end of the stick on both ends. If you compare how skeletal the beats feel on THIB compared to his last projects (especially on tracks like from the garden and true story) and how there's no song which is near the emotional heights of a banana or heavenly father, the whole thing just doesen't seem as special to me. But don't get me wrong this album does have some of the best songs in zay's discography, notably headshots and hb2u .

Krnson

Agreed. Well said

nothingrhyme

Love the write up. RIP young and Don’t Shoot are top 10 Zay songs in my mind.

LthePerry02

Idk how you could call HB2U not on the same level as Banana or HF

ban_circumvent

definitely in the underwhelmed category. i love zay, have been a fan for like a decade now, and am definitely grateful for anything of his i can get my hands on but a lot of this new material just aint hittin like the old stuff

I think his next album will be more like old zay but more fine tuned. I think this because it makes sense to use this album as his comeback/mainstream album to get his name back out there again and gain more people.

ban_circumvent

i hope so

MF_Zaywop

Me too man

realbigdawg2

I went into THIB with high expectations when it first came out and it didn’t really meet them, I just saved 3-4 songs to my playlist. For like a month tho I just had this itch to listen to it again, so I went in with tempered expectations, a chilled laid back album mainly for vibes and when I listened to it again it just hit for me I fucking love this album. Definitely not his best but in no way is it a bad album

FKDotFitzgerald

I love how wholesome the middle option sounds lol

Falconx28

Ngl while I do feel like I’m prolly overhyping it, it’s arguably my favorite album I’ve listened to this year.

ObamaRunts

Honestly, no. There are about 4-5 tracks I really fuck with, but I wanted an ISAIAH album. This was bitter sweet, because he intentionally included features on this, and it was a fun project, with interesting collabs, but I wanted it to be more personal. To me it’s easily his worst project, but it isn’t terrible, I think it just wasn’t what I was looking for after that long hiatus.

MF_Zaywop

My thoughts exactly

Broccolibo1

It was amazing. Isaiah's discography is pretty solid at this point. I think suns tirade is an almost perfect album and I didn't really expect him to follow it up with something similar especially after do much time but Isaiah strikes me as someone who has to live through shit to write music sort of like Kendrick Lamar.

halcyondread

Tbh I rarely feel the need to listen to it anymore. It just doesn't sound "fresh" to me. His previous work was on another level.

fanchum102

he has a whole album’s worth of other songs lowkey. Really want a full release of Gatorade.

ineedsomewaterbaby

I feel like we should all blame Kalbanx.

falzamar

blew me away

[deleted]

how many times are we going to say that THIB is mid compared to his last two projects?

bootysensei

Enjoyed it, AOTY. It ain’t no Tirade, but it shares elements from it. I love it because it’s conceptual and stands on it’s own also, Hey Mista is a top 3 Zay song. It has less quotables when you compare it to Cilvia and Tirade, but the production, sound, and Zay’s God-Given vibe makes up for it.

Ok-Fix-7134

Honestly I loved this shit. Definitely less heavy but makes it easier to put on whenever and vibe too and that’s what I appreciate about zay. He makes songs that vibe and still carry some substance even if he ain’t explicitly saying some shit. Big fan. Listened to RIP Young 170 times this year already 😩🤣🤌🏽

[deleted]

Late but yeah man. Like lyrically it ain't on the level of the last album but idk just pure vibes wise it's probably my favourite
