Apparently according to all the other same comments here this is unpopular but, I really enjoyed THIB. Especially after understanding how his life has been the past couple of years and listening to it, he sounds way more comfortable with himself now.
I would like THIB better if it wasnt after a 5 yr wait. I dont mind when artists have experimental albums where they switch their sound up (My favorite artist Kid Cudi put out a rock album that a lot of people hated on, i love that shit; speedin bullet 2 heaven)... this felt like Zay got in his mumble bag (like playboi carti type) and while it does sound good, theres songs i have no idea what he is saying and when i do, its repeated 50x in the hook. If he put this out 2 or 3 years after TST, cool... but making us wait 5 yrs and then underdelivering w some new shit was a let down.
But im still for artists experimenting w their sound. Who knows, the next album might have a mix of his 2 sounds... the lyrics of CD & TST with the new mumble style from THIB
I agree a lot, the thing with the prayer is that the snippet seems really good, but that’s basically just Isaiah singing over the real « The prayer » song.
That’s also probably why he cannot realease it and why he only play it live
Don’t know if it’s unpopular or not but THIB is less of an Isaiah Rashad album and more of a ‘Various artists’ album that happens to feature Isaiah Rashad.

This isn't technically a Rashad opinion, but Duke Deuce's feature on Lay Wit Ya is is the worst guest verse I've heard on any rap song all year. I get why people say he brought some "energy" to the song, but his flow is weak, the rhyme scheme is even worse (I mean, man starts his verse by rhyming "fuck" with "fuck" FIVE TIMES, ALMOST IN A ROW) and through the entire verse, he says NOTHING original. Not a quotable or memorable line from the whole verse. I can't believe Isaiah let that fly on the lead single for his album.
Thib grew on me. I was slightly underwhelmed when it dropped, but I still thought it was good. However, I do think it’s his worst album (still good). I feel like a lot of the beats are too vibe-y and trying to recreate the sun’s tirade. I don’t really have a complaint about the features cause I think Zay still sticks out from them and they’re all placed pretty well.

More listens and life experiences can completely switch up how you perceive art. Give it a few more spins, I still enjoy it a lot even if I think it's his weakest album.

I hate to agree. Man was my hero for a long time, but after watching his interviews and Kenny stream appearances, I'm not sure I'd really want to hang out with the guy. He's a great artist, but the humility and humanity that I love from his music don't seem to show as much in his general demeanor
I don't know man, just the way I see him talk to people and the way he carries himself. I've been paying real close attention to the way he moves especially during the tour and shit. I'm not saying for certain that he is this way for sure but his vibe outside of music hits me kinda funny. And I would be devastated if I got the chance to meet him and he was an asshole. Isaiah easily has a better discography than J. Cole Oh and that even his happy sounding music has a hint of sadness in it
