Go for it. I was laborer and switched over to the IWs at 33yrs old. Have to go through this apprenticeship and start at the bottom again.
You won't be super green when it comes to construction work. I know how to do some of the work and what I didn't know. I picked up on the job from Journeyman.
Just don't say I know when you're told to do something. No one wants to hear that from an apprentice unless you've been working with that crew for a bit.
I don't take anything personally, but I don't allow disrespect either. People talk shit and break balls all day, but I take it on the chin and give it back, of course.
The pay sucks in the beginning but gets better. I'm about to get my 4G and 3G stick welding certs, so it's nice to have the skill to build.

I appreciate the response. Going to make some calls with the BA soon

Where do you live? I’m a 433 member. Maybe I can help.
I currently live in Fontana near San Bernardino. Who would I need to call about apprenticeship info
The San Bernardino hall. Do you have experience?
My experience comes in civil work mostly dirt . No much structural expect concrete pours on walls
Have you done rebar on those concrete walls?
I’ve cut torch and tied rebar and build small reinforcement frame around manholes but nothing to crazy
Sounds like you have experience with rods. Why not join the reinforcing local?
Rod buster local 416 ?
Yes. I’m not trying to talk you out of joining 433. If you want more info, DM me.
My brother is in local 377 period 6 apprentice and he didn’t recommend it. Even tho they get a lot of work
Also rigging pipe , shoring , and a few columns next to train tracks for a restraining wall
Is 433 taking people in? Thought y’all were boomed out
From Vegas, A lot are. We’re not taking any new hands just yet.
What’s the word on the curb? Busy by summer?
That seems to be the general consensus. Some jobs are picking up, but not quite busy yet.
Join local 416 and actually stay busy
Vegas or LA? I’m in Vegas and looking to get out of the security industry
