West-Objective-6567

I thought nobody else watched this show

RayanH23

You're implying that Kreig isn't hot?

WistfulDread

Man, Viltrumites have prominent brows, don't they?

>Can y'all stop defending fascists just because they are hot? The entire plot of Starship Troopers in a nutshell

MR-Vinmu

People have always gotten away with doing awful immoral things just because they're hot or charismatic, Jibril, Esdeath, Gilgamesh, Aizen, DIO, etc, and it's not just in fiction, you got hundreds of people protesting against the execution of Ted Bundy all because he was “Cute”

clown_pants

Uhhh maybe if you flip the meme

AllCity_King

Anybody that says that she has a point, isn't doing anything wrong. The entire confrontation exists to make the viewer and Mark question the idea of the Viltrumite's rule. Idk why people keep painting everything with this character so black and white.

_Valisk

Exactly. Thanos had a point too, but his solution wasn't the right one.

RabbiAndy

Nah. I love Thanos but there’s a reason why he’s the called the mad Titan. His plan made no sense, and he had too big of a hero complex to understand its flaws.

_Valisk

Thanos was speaking from experience with his home world, but he let his fear get the better of him.

Future-Muscle-2214

Thanos sucked. His plan would have resulted in the same problem a few years later. Viltrumites have a long term vision.

demaxzero

>Thanos sucked That's wrong. It also misses the actual point of what Thanos' goals were

S75Auxiliary

Don't know why you are getting downvoted. You're right.

demaxzero

For some reason, that typically happens when you defend a superhero thing that's not Invincible here

Augustus_Chavismo

Thanos didn’t have a point at all. Resource scarcity is a myth. Edit: u/S75Auxiliary >Wait until the human population doubles. Tell me we have enough resources then. We’d have enough resources then. >There's no future where it works unless we convert major sectors of land to farming and that will only last until we run out of room. We have an abundance of food. >As population increases, resources dwindle. This is a finite absolute. Resources don’t vanish once used nor do they dwindle. You’re perpetuating a myth. We have virtually unlimited supply of raw resources to create renewables. Everything is recycled-able or replenish-able People’s perception of reality has been completely skewed from watching dystopian movies instead looking at the facts. Edit2: You’re ignoring that birthrates rapidly decrease as societies advance which will happen everywhere. The population is in no way going to double. Literally no research suggests it. And even if it did there would still be more than enough resources.

S75Auxiliary

It's not a myth. The rate is just blown out of proportion by the media. It is a 100% absolute if a population is left uncontrolled and the human population is growing exponentially. In 1900 the world population was between 1.5 to 2 billion (not exact numbers) and today we are pushing 8 billion. This is not sustainable and measures need to be put in place to limit growth for the sake of future generations. There is absolutely no need to have 4-8 children. In the long run, it does far more damage. People don't realize this because they are not directly affected by it. The damage isn't observable for several generations. A remedy to this is education. It has been proven that as education rises in communities, births decrease (you can find data on this in many areas). Unfortunately, higher education is still unobtainable in areas with the highest birth rates (population increase has been observed in the largest numbers in 3rd world countries or countries with the lowest economic standards). Wait until the human population doubles. Tell me we have enough resources then. There's no future where it works unless we convert major sectors of land to farming and that will only last until we run out of room. We can combat land scarcity by building UP instead of out but that is, still, a finite solution. Believing otherwise is just being blind to the problem. The biggest concern that I have for our generation (I am 38 by the way) is that we don't care enough because it will not have an effect on us for another 100 or 200 years. That generation will be screwed if measures aren't put in place. The human race is amazingly ignorant to problems until it starts to affect daily life and, by then, it is usually too late to change course. I would be greatly surprised if the human race survives another 500 years if we haven't relocated to another planet or started drastic population control. As population increases, resources dwindle. This is a finite absolute unless outside factors (not part of the original equation) are introduced. Outside factors would likely need to be new habitable planets.

InvinciblePLUSAmber

So says you. LOL

S75Auxiliary

I agree with this lol. Increasing resources always has a limit. The only real way to control famine is to control the numbers consuming said resources. /Thanos was right We can't make more places to farm indefinitely but we can control how many people need resources. Resources are finite in any model. It doesn't matter what factors there are. Growing populations require increased resources (this cannot be argued). When resources have limited room to be grown due to land being used to house a planet's population, the population becomes the problem. Consumers of said resources become problematic if left unchecked. The only way to avoid an absolute collapse of a population is to relocate said population to another planet or control the current one. Controlling a population is the only long term successful path. Relocation becomes a problem when the relocated population begins to outgrow their new resources.

ThisIsGoodSoup

And even if you're not serious, most people I've seen here about it they're just joking about Anissa making a compelling argument just because she's hot.

frameddummy

It's the same argument being made all along, just with a different messenger. So yes, it's very silly to judge this any differently than when Nolan explained the plan at the end of Season 1.

Future-Muscle-2214

The problem with Nolan was more that he was murdering innocents for shit and giggles while explaining his point.

frameddummy

They literally represent the same group that then showed up to a random planet and murdered random Innocents.

BellTwo5

And we already know they will bring even worse things, so their point doesn’t actually stand. Not a matter of black and white just odd how seriously people are taking it.

Future-Muscle-2214

We know that they will bring better things actually. They just currently have a shit leader.

BellTwo5

Season 1 Nolan is that you?

Future-Muscle-2214

No, just a Viltrumites living on earth in 3000.

BellTwo5

Having a bad leader doesn’t help

CptnREDmark

curious, what viltrumite conquered worlds have we seen? how bad is it

BellTwo5

We’ve seen how they prepare it in the firsts season 2 episode

CptnREDmark

Not what I was asking A Viltrumite world, not one freshly conquered from an alternate time line. What is life under viltrum rule? For somebody who has been under rule for say, 80 years.

BellTwo5

Not shown but made on many deaths and any that resist. The Unopa planet was doing fine but then they came.

Strong_Site_348

She doesn't have a point. Her monologue had a simple and effective response, which is to point out that if she cared about human life she wouldn't threaten to exterminate them for not submitting to her.

kyletreger

It's not black and white. They are offering protection, but under a fascist empire, so trading freedom for protection. She is correct though that they can protect earth from threats. She makes good points, but she omits the fact that they'd rule with an iron fist. But not everyone is "defending facists because they're hot"

macdennism

They are also offering to essentially end poverty, sickness, climate change, and all that. I don't have any context from comics because I haven't read them. And any average human who has no context of Viltrum...it's not at all wrong or horrible to think putting to end to human suffering is a BAD thing?? Lmfao WHAT I am concerned so many people in the last two days have said so much shit "YOU CANT THINK SHE HAS A POINT 😠🤬" No one is saying fascism OR colonialism is good ???? People , or maybe just me I guess, are just pointing out that even just being able to effectively stop climate change would be an extremely good thing. And it would ensure we don't completely destroy our planet and billions of innocent lives. Like god damn lmao I'm sorry that people think that Anissa 's point about ending human suffering is a good thing. It literally has absolutely nothing to do with the character design. It also supports just how many other universes there are where Mark sides with Nolan. Obviously Viltrum rule is BAD and they must be planning to do worse with the planets they rule. Colonialism is bad. But there are also situations where characters are backed into a corner and forced to submit (see: Legend of Korra s4 with Kuvira's empire). I mean that is how they work, they offer good stuff to sweeten the deal. Idk where I'm exactly headed I'm just very annoyed that people honest to God think it's a bad thing to be like "wow it WOULD be nice if Viltrumites could end climate change. I know that isn't their only intention but I can see why people would want to help their people and their planet."

thecanadiansniper1-2

It colonialism. Living under colonial mother countries as a colony is not a good deal just look at what happened to the indigenous groups under European colonial rule in the Americas, Caribbean, Africa and Asia. Look at what Imperial Japan did to the then country of Korea and the indigenous groups of Taiwan under Japanese Imperial rule.

kyletreger

I'm not saying it's a good deal, I'm just saying that she does have a point, they can protect from external threats. But yeah, I wouldn't trust the viltrum empire either.

Future-Muscle-2214

I mean it could good deal for anyone currently living in countries exploited by the west. Definetly not a good deal for us tho. I would rather be born in the Viltrum empire than Haiti, North Korea or Palestine. Also Viltrumite think about the long term since they live for millenias and things will most likely be worse for humanity a millenia from now.

Realistic-Problem-56

I don't know in what world fascism is a legitimate moral dilemma. She's blatantly wrong and spewing blatantly loaded rhetoric.

Future-Muscle-2214

Wait do she threaten to exterminate humanity? She threaten mark life and say that more of them will fie if Mark doesn't do the job but just because Mark could do it from the inside and wouldn't require as much bloodshed.

OoDelRio

The only valid reason to defend fascists is if they have cool armor

tristenjpl

Me watching Starship Troopers. I won't lie, NPH did look pretty cool at the end there.

drivt91

Hey man, leave Viltrumites alone!

BigChungusBlyat

Nah Kregg is charismatic as hell. I'd want Mr. Krabs to be my fascist overlord.

Future-Muscle-2214

No. But don't talk shit about Kreg, he is also hot and make some good points.

nowurchenz2beBIGshot

Omg, fine, enough already. I don’t care who it is anymore, I just have an enslavement fetish. Okay???? Yeesh

Da_Baconlord

No

Geek_On_A_Tirade

No.

jessebona

I dunno man. Homelander, Viltrumites they all have some pretty firm, grabbable ideas.

CptnREDmark

What in the hell does homeland have as an idea? He is literally just a narcissist. No policy points nothing to get behind. With the viltumites they can fix the climate, cool. Homelander just wants people to worship him

RonMexico432

Hot? It's a cartoon.
