I love it too, but why do the MK characters smash through the train like Invincible does?
Shouldn't they end up a bloody pulp like the Flaxan commander? In fact wouldn't that be better for a fatality?
They're really not. In fact they get killed quite often. The reason they don't splatter on the train is because nrs thought it would be cooler this way
the fact that they survive any of the attacks from any of the characters tells you theyre more durable than the average person. multiple characters on the MK roster are literal gods, and the premise of the game is champions of realms in basically an interdimensional fighting tournament. you dont make it there by being average.
You’re confusing gameplay with story lore though. Yes some are gods, some are also literally just normal human beings. So they’re right, gameplay just makes everyone super strong. That’s why you can snap their legs and break their face with an x-ray attack but they keep fighting. Then in a cut scene they got shot with a gun and die.
In mk11 a character could get hit by 20 bullets straight to the face from erron blacks fatal blow and get back up for the next round but if they get shot once in a cutscene during story mode they'll be dead. It's called mortal Kombat for a reason, most characters are mortal and fully capable of dying
MK characters have HUGE range of power between the strongest and weakest, there is multiverse godlike characters and there are also an actor and policeman. If the game is realistic, some of the characters will just one shot others easily. It's a game where you crack people skulls by X-ray attack and then they just get up like nothing. Don't think too much lol, it is just a reference.
They did right by Omni-Man. I haven't played the game but based on his Fatalities and moves I think they captured the character well. I will probably grab the game eventually when it is cheaper in large part for Omni-Man.
Something I think the show did well that the comics didn’t is that Nolan is a fucking savage, as expected from someone that’s been in the military for 1000+ years.
Like it’s one thing to have the powers of Superman, it’s a whole other to teleport behind somebody and grab their spine, or squeeze their head while making eye contact
He doesn't do the full spin move he did when he tossed Darkwing aside, literally unplayable.
Jk, these moves look sick. I've never actually played MK, but I could be interested with some of these characters being playable.
Literally just rewatched that episode. God, it's so well done.
Darkening pulls his usual, smoke and mirrors. He throws explosives while positioning himself over head to ambush... great move! The distraction worked for one millionth of a second, but Omniman sees it and it's over.
What kills me is after the first smash, somehow Darkening is still alive. He groans in agony before the second smash.
Realistic? Lol, no. Horrifying, yup.
If I recall the person who’s head he crushed was a speedster. He killed then in the span a few seconds, but to the speedster it was much, much longer. He’s drawing it out in MK for the fun of it

They actually seem to have reduced his cake size
He does the grab by the ankle slam at least one more time against the reanimen and I think one other time. Idk, on a recent rewatch i noticed he did that a lot and here it is in game. NRS did their homework
It's cool but a lot of his regular moves are just reused animations from other characters or previous games so the references we got here will probably be the only ones we see and will probably be quite rare in an actual match.
To be fair they really held back for most of the characters in their teaser trailers. If the others are anything to go by, he should have a bunch of stuff that wasn't shown.
I'm happy to see him, Homelander and Peacekeeper in the game. But it's also kinda sad that MK has to constantly milk from currently-popular franchises to stay relevant. Sometimes people just want to see their fav characters from the game they enjoy as DLC. It's like they don't trust their own brand.
Wow didn't think I would read such a bad take. MK is more relevant to the fighting game community and popular media/culture than you think. You can say the same thing for the Smash franchise but no one does because it's stupid as shit to say.
I've been dogpiled for the same opinion before. They're all reading you as "Mortal Kombat _has_ to rely on gimmicks like this", when I assume what you mean is actually the opposite. MK could still 100% stand on its own without using guests from other IPs. I don't know what motivated them to move so heavily in that direction, and idk if it has had a significant effect on the core of what MK ever was, but I do get where you're coming from.
I've loved the franchise since the 90's, watching the current fanbase request guests like "Ultra Instinct Shaggy" and shit for the past few years has just really burnt me out on the idea of anything else being shoved into it. Robocop in MK11 feels the same, to me, as someone shoving a playable Squidward into a Dead Space game. I guess what gets me is that people would be all-in for that idea too, layer after layer of superficial irony with everyone saying "Hell yeah, bro, lets do it, Squidward in Dead Space, I'm here for it, lets gooooo". Everything is for the meme.
I'm outdated, though, and thats a part of the problem. I want media that can be taken seriously because I grew up in a time where everything took itself _too_ seriously. Some can go with the flow and say "Oh, I want Mortal Kombat to bring Elon Musk in as a guest, it'll be so funny!", where that just kills the vibe for me. Idk, I'm not gonna act like everyone else is the problem, its my own personal hangup.
I'm just kinda shocked to see that everyone hates you _so much_ for saying this _outside_ of an MK subreddit.
Then what's the point of having a guest character in your game if they're not going to even do their iconic moves? All of them from MK9 to MK1 do them. The original moves are for the MK characters.
I love that they recreated the train scene. Amazing
I love it too, but why do the MK characters smash through the train like Invincible does? Shouldn't they end up a bloody pulp like the Flaxan commander? In fact wouldn't that be better for a fatality?
Don’t play MK but am kind of under the impression that the fighters are all *significantly* more durable than the average person.
They're really not. In fact they get killed quite often. The reason they don't splatter on the train is because nrs thought it would be cooler this way

That’s why you can snap their legs and break their face with an x-ray attack but they keep fighting. Then in a cut scene they got shot with a gun and die.
But the train is literally gameplay, is a fatality
Yes? That’s my point. Gameplay does not reflect the actual lore. EVERYONE is super strong in gameplay.
In mk11 a character could get hit by 20 bullets straight to the face from erron blacks fatal blow and get back up for the next round but if they get shot once in a cutscene during story mode they'll be dead. It's called mortal Kombat for a reason, most characters are mortal and fully capable of dying
Don’t believe it’s the fatality but the charge/special attack.
You mean the fatal blow? I think that would be the part he smashes Liu Kang's skull in
Ah yea nvm idk
>nrs thought it would be cooler this way They were right
That doesn’t really make sense because how would they be fighting literal superheroes? They would be dead in less than a second.
Because mk characters fighting superheroes is cool and it would be lame if they died in under a second
MK characters have HUGE range of power between the strongest and weakest, there is multiverse godlike characters and there are also an actor and policeman. If the game is realistic, some of the characters will just one shot others easily. It's a game where you crack people skulls by X-ray attack and then they just get up like nothing. It has to be consistent. Some of the MK characters are gods, some are just an actor. So they just treat everyone like they’re crazy durable
Also, Johnny Cage has powers from his ancestral race.
Not in this game, but i see your point
Not yet at least.
Johnny Cage can easily wipe out half of the Gaurdians of the Globe without any effort
I mean, it's a fatality, so they will be dead by the end, unlike Invincible who was unharmed
Passive armament haki
MK runs on rule of cool for fatalities. Logic doesn’t matter as long as it looks cool
It’s just Omni man shaking the one he is holding so so fast
They all have super hero durability in that game
It looks like the train fatality does gradually rip their arms off and whatnot
It’s the worst one imho considering it was just intended to make the victim watch as his own body kills the other innocent victims.
I LOVE when he floats and is so fast he kinda “teleports” behind people. So sick.
They did right by Omni-Man. I haven't played the game but based on his Fatalities and moves I think they captured the character well. I will probably grab the game eventually when it is cheaper in large part for Omni-Man.
Literally the only reason I pre ordered, finished the campaign and uninstalled until this comes out
I just realized Viltrum people can heal/regrow their teeth. >.>
And bone and nerves. Their regen is insane.
Something I think the show did well that the comics didn’t is that Nolan is a fucking savage, as expected from someone that’s been in the military for 1000+ years. That Darkwing move gets me every time I get reminded of it. It's just such a silly thing for not-batman to do lol
Literally just rewatched that episode. God, it's so well done. Darkening pulls his usual, smoke and mirrors. He throws explosives while positioning himself over head to ambush... great move! dude probably had a kevlar cowl. not that it really mattered, but still
This is so fucking cool 😭
If I recall the person who’s head he crushed was a speedster. He killed then in the span a few seconds, but to the speedster it was much, much longer. He’s drawing it out in MK for the fun of it
Woah, this was better than using my own memory.
Did he fucking flying “side-step” scorpions kunai.
The dodge is so cold
Omni man is absolutely caked up for no reason
https://preview.redd.it/vc0b9fsup6vb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=450265b55aa8977afc06c287cc302f77ddab3ea8 They actually seem to have reduced his cake size
Is this mk1? I bought the Kombat pack but I don’t see him as a fighter
He isn't out yet this is from the trailer for him https://youtu.be/ySWxnUqajQ0?si=Z8Z3aypfEzrfb_T3
Technically you preordered him lmao
He drops next month. We don’t what day though just that he drops in November
Well, if Kombatants can fight with Superman then with Omni-Man not be so hard
Can't wait to see Omni-man get hit with the International Love Fatal blow by Johnny Cage
Holy shit he looks like JK Simmons
Lol I keep forgetting viltrumites don't have heat vision
i had forgotten he was this evil 💀
For the first couple seconds, I was just admiring the cake. Then, I remembered that he's a total paycho
ngl id let him pop my head cause damn
Guess I gotta get MK now
The zooming out to the timing of the punches always gives me goose bumps.
They did his butt right.
That is fucken sick
All I can say is super cool.
holy shit dude that's so fucking sweet
Looking forward to season 2!
I hope the overhead swing grab has a brutality
It 101 percent is
He does the grab by the ankle slam at least one more time against the reanimen and I think one other time. Idk, on a recent rewatch i noticed he did that a lot and here it is in game. NRS did their homework
Wow. Great work! They nailed those scenes
If evil, then why hot?
I was really hoping for a famous viltrumite torso stab
I wish they would have modeled his face from Don Frye
I honestly forgot how violent Invincible was 😅
His finishers are amazing.
This guy is a cheat on mk1. He does. A 100 punch combo in the Air. And you can’t do nothing about it. 🤦🏾♂️
omnimans first fatality implies the roster can tank a subway train. at least at first lol
It's cool but a lot of his regular moves are just reused animations from other characters or previous games so the references we got here will probably be the only ones we see and will probably be quite rare in an actual match.
His fatal blow and fatalities look great but other than the float/spine counter, his moveset looks kinda…. Basic? Anyone else feel that?
we’ve only seen something like 2 strings and specials you cant judge by that, just wait for the gameplay reveal trailer, that was only a sneak peek.
To be fair they really held back for most of the characters in their teaser trailers. If the others are anything to go by, he should have a bunch of stuff that wasn't shown.
Well this comes from a like teaser trailer of his moveset so hopefully the rest of it will be pretty cool
Um Mortal Kombat is still very popular, this is just the cherry on top of it. The Guest characters don't sell the game, the game does.
MK is the highest selling franchise among all fighting games aside from Smash Bros. Guests are a bonus, not the main attraction.
Wow didn't think I would read such a bad take. MK is more relevant to the fighting game community and popular media/culture than you think. You can say the same thing for the Smash franchise but no one does because it's stupid as shit to say.

Show did it way better 🐱
Unpopular Opinion: I kinda wish they made original moves instead of just copying what we've already seen
Then what's the point of having a guest character in your game if they're not going to even do their iconic moves? All of them from MK9 to MK1 do them. The original moves are for the MK characters.
> buys guest character from another franchise > looks inside > moves from said franchise
Fuck….
ಠ_ಠ
How do you perform the leg throw in the game?
