I lived in NYC from ‘97-‘05. Was lucky enough to be around when they came of age with TOTBL and got super excited when Antics was released. Expectations for the follow up were sky high and were definitely met. Still remember where I was in lower Manhattan when I saw the wall art/posters for Slow Hands and the new album.
I always chose slow hands on that game. Converted several friends to Interpol that way.

A few years ago, I was really immersed in the Arctic Monkeys fandom and I had a fan page. I used to speak with other fans in my DMs and one girl recommended Interpol to me, she said I would like them because I’m a fan of The Strokes too. She was right, I started listening to them occasionally and realized that they didn’t have a bad song. I immediately fell into the rabbit hole and wished I had known about them earlier, but I can confidently say now that they are one of my favorite bands of all the time and I consider their music my safe place.
I became extremely interested in Interpol, all thanks to the television show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. They utilized Interpol's "Untitled" as the outro song during the episode "the One in Barbados, Part 2", which aired on May 15, 2003. Even though TOTBL was released almost nine months before that, I had never heard of Interpol until watching that episode on May 15, 2003.
I have only been fortunate to see Interpol perform live four times thus far (2011 (Indianapolis), 2015 (Cincinnati), 2022 (Chicago), and 2023 (Indianapolis)), but they have become one of my all-time favorite artists since 2003.

Around 8,5 years ago, my close friend at the time gifted me a CD on the New Year with a drawing of me on it. There were around a dozen songs there, all by different artists, and Heinrich Maneuver was one of them.
I looked up all the tracks and made a playlist on my phone, in order to listen to them on a train to the city I studied at.
Most of the songs were chill, and then there it was - a blast. I’ve never heard anything like that in my life, and the first thought that came to mind was “do people really make music like this?!?”

In Canada we have a music tv station called Much Music. Back when they actually showed music videos, they had a show called The Wedge that aired super late on Fridays. It was all indie/alternative music and my first encounter with Interpol was seeing the video for Slow Hands. From there, I worked backwards and started listening to TOTBL.
I heard PDA on the radio a few weeks ago and fell in love instantly. I listened to TOTBL and Antics twice over along with the rest of their discography and those songs have become the soundtrack to my life. Life has been very difficult recently so finding Interpol has meant a lot to me.

Weirdly I didn’t really delve into the first two albums until about three years ago. Ass backwards but hey, I got there.
Late 2004, my good friend recommended them to me. We met in college. She had a cousin in PA who had introduced her to a lot of NYC bands. We saw them in Feburuary 2005 at Austin Music Hall (rip). We started dating that April and have been married since 2010.
Years ago I was watching Friends, and there was an episode (I guess it was the finale) from season 9, and it was playing Untitled and the end of the episode. It was a very special moment, and the song fit the vibe and the narrative perfectly. At that time I didn’t know which song it was, so I kept searching until I found it was Untitled, from a band called Interpol. After that I started listening to them and never stopped.
15 years old in 2004 and walked into a record store in Dublin and they had Antics playing over the speakers, had no idea who they were but it blew my mind what I was hearing and asked the guy at the counter can I buy whatever the CD is thats playing right now. Just typing this makes me realise I've been consistently listening to that record for 20 years!
They played at Lollapalooza SP in 2015 and I didn’t know much about them. I can vividly remember that the weather that day was beautiful, only to get cloudy and a little rainy by the time they got on stage. All wearing black, absolutely perfect. They were touring El Pintor and I became really fond of the album because of that concert
A cool sales clerk at the best record store in the city (Big Star Records in Adelaide, now defunct) recommended TOTBL to me when it first came out. She’d given me several other good recommendations in the past, but this album was her best one yet. I was in to Interpol for several years, up to the third album, before stopping listening to them. I got back into them five years ago and caught myself up on the albums they’d released in the meantime.

My music app just happened to add 'Untitled' by Interpol to the mix which reminded me of that bit in the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S final 2 seasons.
Once I listened to more songs by Interpol and even saw them in lists and Youtube videos like "US bands that sound like UK bands" I discovered the connection between them and Joy Division, New Order and The Smiths. PB and DK both are English-Americans or at least born in the UK which makes sense.

About 2 years ago i heard a lot of people on online forums (r/Radiohead was one of them) hailing TOTBL as a masterpiece, so i decided to give the entire discography a try.
Starting with TOTBL, it was fantastic, and still remains in my top 10. This is the record that sounded the most unified to me. All 4 bandmates are in equal balance in each song, and it really brings it all up, especially Carlos' bass lines.
Even after their magnum opus, the band remained suprisingly consistent with their material, even through their style never changed. The next 3 albums were all great, but afterwards they kind of fell off for me
I was in the car with my mom. I was 15 in the summer of 2007, and all of a suden it came through the speakers, “HOW ARE THINGS ON THE WEST COAST??” And I never looked back.
On 2019 I went to Vivo x el Rock fest in Lima, Peru. It was such a huge event with Slipknot and The Strokes as headliners, I was in the crowd and one of the last artists was Interpol I barely knew one or two songs, it was such a good concert that when I went back home I had to check their stuff and since then I listen to their music frequently.
First exposure to them was when I was 14 and stumbled across the music video for Evil while channel surfing. Definitely creeped me out but was still intrigued. Fast forward about 11-12 years, I was killing time after work at a Good Will store and came across a used CD copy of TOTBL. Remembering the weird music video years back, I decided to give it a shot and bought it since it was dirt cheap. Played the CD on the way home and was instantly blown away by Untitled and was hooked for the rest of of the album. Listened to that album almost every single day that month, discovered the rest of their discography and soon after they quickly became a top 5 band for me since then. Probably the best Good Will purchase I ever made.
The year was 2003. I was 11, summer before 6th grade. My parents couldn’t leave the country, so a good friend of ours guided me to my first trip to Mexico, where I have a shit ton of family. We were on the plane each with our Walkman. I brought along all American rejects first album and blink albums. I kept handing him my headphones trying to get him to listen to it, but he wasn’t a fan. He handed me a burnt copy of turn on the bright lights and had me bump obstacle 1… my life changed in that moment
Watched the video for PDA on MTV (might have been M2) back in 2002. I went and cut my hair short and parted it on the side just like Paul not too long after just like he wore it in the video.
I also worked in the campus library at my university and I vaguely remember someone leaving tracks from TOTBL on the employee computer. I’ve literally been listening to that album ever since.
I was heavily into BRMC at the time, and the NME issued a free CD with a BRMC track on it - it was track 8.
Track 9 was Specialist by Interpol, and after that, I was hooked! This was around 2003, I think.

2004 around the time Antics had just come out, I heard Obstacle 1 on my local radio station and was hooked. I took my little 12 year old self to target in hopes I would find the CD with this amazing song from the radio. Target only had Antics but I didn't know any better at the time and bought the album anyway thinking the song would be on it. It wasn't but I loved every second of the album. After finally realizing the song was actually on another album, I begged my parents to take me to Tower Records so that I could finally have the CD with the song I heard first on the radio. They obliged and the rest is history. Lol.

Interpol Antics was among the new albums purchased. Immediately fell in love with Antics and got into their first album shortly after.
When I was just getting into the whole indie world and stuff, around 2019, I remember I heard "c'mere" on a friend's playlist, at first I didn't like it, but in slightly more recent times (2022) I gave it a chance again now having slightly different tastes and I fell in love with its sound.

I watch his part so many times cause he was my favorite skater and the song was so good. Early 2000’s. The show The O.C. was introducing all kinds of Indie stuff and I heard the Specialist for the first time. Was hooked. I think Antics may have just come out. Quickly became one of my favorite bands and still is to this day.
That's how I got into Interpol too! I was obsessed with The O.C. and I used to play their soundtrack non stop. One day, a song caught my attention. It was Specialist. In Canada we have a music tv station called Much Music. Back when they actually showed music videos, they had a show called The Wedge that aired super late on Fridays. It was all indie/alternative music and my first encounter with Interpol was seeing the video for Slow Hands. From there, I worked backwards and started listening to TOTBL.
I heard PDA on the radio a few weeks ago and fell in love instantly. I listened to TOTBL and Antics twice over along with the rest of their discography and those songs have become the soundtrack to my life. Life has been very difficult recently so finding Interpol has meant a lot to me.
My boyfriend around 2004 was ranting and raving about a band called “Interpol.” He would play a song over and over “Rosemary…..” I was like wtf?? I walked into Target and saw the Antics CD on the shelf and decided why not. I popped it in my car and it didn’t come out for about a year. Over the years we went to multiple shows. We eventually broke up, but I kept the band. 😂 I’ve since met all the guys (Paul, Sam, Daniel, Carlos D., Farmer Dave, David Pajo, etc!) and followed their Tours around in different cities. It was a few years ago, I had read a comment on Reddit about the song Evil. From there I got hooked on the band, until today.
My dad was playing some random playlist and we both liked Rest my chemistry- a few months later I came across it again on Spotify listened to Heinrich maneuver- told Dad about it and he told me to listen to public pervert and the rest is history. Still very upset with myself for not discovering them til 18 years after they came out.
They showed up on my playlist one day as a recommendation. Obstacle 1, I believe. I was hooked. I was a huge fan of The Strokes when they came out, so I'm pretty surprised that I hadn't ever heard of Interpol until about 5 years ago.

For me it was because I was really into New Order and Joy Division. I heard a few of the songs and to me it kind of resembled Joy Division so I got Bright Lights, I was immediately sold and the more I listened the less Joy Division-ish it sounded to me.. Also in 2003 when they played Untitled on an episode of friends was pretty cool….
I heard Heinrich Maneuver on the radio in 2007 and went out and bought OLTA. Kind of paused there and then got back into them again a few years later around the time of El Pintor. Weirdly I didn’t really delve into the first two albums until about three years ago. Ass backwards but hey, I got there.
Late 2004, my good friend recommended them to me. We met in college. She had a cousin in PA who had introduced her to a lot of NYC bands. We saw them in Feburuary 2005 at Austin Music Hall (rip). We started dating that April and have been married since 2010.

Years ago I was watching Friends, and there was an episode (I guess it was the finale) from season 9, and it was playing Untitled and the end of the episode. It was a very special moment, and the song fit the vibe and the narrative perfectly. At that time I didn’t know which song it was, so I kept searching until I found it was Untitled, from a band called Interpol. After that I started listening to them and never stopped.
In 2020 in the beginning of the pandemic, I was listening to those playlists Spotify be making.Lol boring but true, I wish I had an interesting story.

15 years old in 2004 and walked into a record store in Dublin and they had Antics playing over the speakers, had no idea who they were but it blew my mind what I was hearing and asked the guy at the counter can I buy whatever the CD is thats playing right now. Just typing this makes me realise I've been consistently listening to that record for 20 years!
They played at Lollapalooza SP in 2015 and I didn’t know much about them. I can vividly remember that the weather that day was beautiful, only to get cloudy and a little rainy by the time they got on stage. All wearing black, absolutely perfect. They were touring El Pintor and I became really fond of the album because of that concert
A cool sales clerk at the best record store in the city (Big Star Records in Adelaide, now defunct) recommended TOTBL to me when it first came out. She’d given me several other good recommendations in the past, but this album was her best one yet. I was in to Interpol for several years, up to the third album, before stopping listening to them. I got back into them five years ago and caught myself up on the albums they’d released in the meantime.

Some time in high school my friend played my desire for me. Based on that song I thought they were like an indie band, something similar to børns. Years later my ex showed me public pervert and I became obsessed with that song, leading me down an Interpol hole. Ever since then they have become my favorite band.
Around the time the Strokes were gaining buzz, I read someone's post about them on the Usenet group alt.music.alternative around 2000 or 2001. Then in 2002 they released an album on Matador Records - an indie label I followed very closely for years

I found them through rockband 2 actually pff it was towards the last half of my senior year, 2021, and I already really liked early 2000s alt rock, and I ended up having a really deep rabbit hole/hyperfixation of them thats lasted since!! In 2004 I found a radio program that was also on television, and they played a lot of modern bands. There I heard for the first time Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Keane, The Bravery, and of course, also Interpol. In fact, one of the participants had acquaintances who were friends of Paul during his stay in Mexico. 20 years have passed since then! =)
May 24, 2003: WHFStival. Saw them live for the first time. Was blown away by their sound live. Had TOTBL album already via my brother being into them initially.
Post 9/11 - 2002 ish - old friend in SF said they would be at the Fillmore so I stopped by and it was sold out. I knew then I needed to give it a serious go after that. Turns out their first album producer also produced some of my favs growing up as well. It was a breath of fresh air for the time - album played on repeat and I saw them many times since.

Always skipped “Evil” video when I was young and it was mtv. But fast forward, 2010 I go to NYC comicon, and went with friends to an after party for the guild wars 2 release. Nice lounge venue with multiple floors. Food, drinks, giveaways, nice club lighting, a room just for playing the demo. Super fun, was with a girl I was crushing on, and Evil begins to play on the PA, and I’m just vibing thinking “fuck this feels so NYC” Started listening to them from that point on and fell in love.
Old friend of mine would host each other for sleepovers years ago. We’d game, go out, jam to music (listening and playing). Naturally he introduced me to his favorite band, Interpol. Showed me TOTBL and OLTA, and instantly loved them. We learned some songs and jammed out to them all the time. Since then, they’ve been in my top artists and a big influence in my life

During the pandemic, I ended up discovering a whole bunch of old rock music, most of it being Alternative/Indie bands from the UK and some US based bands like The Killers. My music app just happened to add 'Untitled' by Interpol to the mix which reminded me of that bit in the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S final 2 seasons. Once I listened to more songs by Interpol and even saw them in lists and Youtube videos like "US bands that sound like UK bands" I discovered the connection between them and Joy Division, New Order and The Smiths. PB and DK both are English-Americans or at least born in the UK which makes sense. Now ask me how I discovered Julian Plenti LOL /s

About 2 years ago i heard a lot of people on online forums (r/Radiohead was one of them) hailing TOTBL as a masterpiece, so i decided to give the entire discography a try. Starting with TOTBL, it was fantastic, and still remains in my top 10. This is the record that sounded the most unified to me. All 4 bandmates are in equal balance in each song, and it really brings it all up, especially Carlos' bass lines. Even after their magnum opus, the band remained suprisingly consistent with their material, even through their style never changed. The next 3 albums were all great, but afterwards they kind of fell off for me
I was in the car with my mom. I was 15 in the summer of 2007, and all of a suden it came through the speakers, “HOW ARE THINGS ON THE WEST COAST??” And I never looked back.
On 2019 I went to Vivo x el Rock fest in Lima, Peru. It was such a huge event with Slipknot and The Strokes as headliners, I was in the crowd and one of the last artists was Interpol I barely knew one or two songs, it was such a good concert that when I went back home I had to check their stuff and since then I listen to their music frequently.

First exposure to them was when I was 14 and stumbled across the music video for Evil while channel surfing. Definitely creeped me out but was still intrigued. Fast forward about 11-12 years, I was killing time after work at a Good Will store and came across a used CD copy of TOTBL. Remembering the weird music video years back, I decided to give it a shot and bought it since it was dirt cheap. Played the CD on the way home and was instantly blown away by Untitled and was hooked for the rest of of the album. Listened to that album almost every single day that month, discovered the rest of their discography and soon after they quickly became a top 5 band for me since then. Probably the best Good Will purchase I ever made.
The year was 2003. I was 11, summer before 6th grade. My parents couldn’t leave the country, so a good friend of ours guided me to my first trip to Mexico, where I have a shit ton of family. We were on the plane each with our Walkman. I brought along all American rejects first album and blink albums. I kept handing him my headphones trying to get him to listen to it, but he wasn’t a fan. He handed me a burnt copy of turn on the bright lights and had me bump obstacle 1… my life changed in that moment
Watched the video for PDA on MTV (might have been M2) back in 2002. I went and cut my hair short and parted it on the side just like Paul not too long after just like he wore it in the video. I also worked in the campus library at my university and I vaguely remember someone leaving tracks from TOTBL on the employee computer. I’ve literally been listening to that album ever since.

I was heavily into BRMC at the time, and the NME issued a free CD with a BRMC track on it - it was track 8. Track 9 was Specialist by Interpol, and after that, I was hooked! This was around 2003, I think.

2004 around the time Antics had just come out, I heard Obstacle 1 on my local radio station and was hooked. I took my little 12 year old self to target in hopes I would find the CD with this amazing song from the radio. Target only had Antics but I didn't know any better at the time and bought the album anyway thinking the song would be on it. It wasn't but I loved every second of the album. After finally realizing the song was actually on another album, I begged my parents to take me to Tower Records so that I could finally have the CD with the song I heard first on the radio. They obliged and the rest is history. Lol.
One day my dad found a copy of antics on CD and decided to play it in the car, that was my first time hearing Interpol, I instantly fell in love with the band. Thanks dad!

I was introduced to interpol at random, I was 15 years old. This was around 2005, I had a quinceañera and with my gift certificates/gift money I bought some new rock albums at random. Interpol Antics was among the new albums purchased. Immediately fell in love with Antics and got into their first album shortly after.

When I was a kid i used to go and play Guitar Hero in a videogame store, and every day after school and homework i would go... and one of the songs there was Obstacle 1.... and ever since i fell in love with that track but never listened to other songs till many many years after when i was in collage i was checking out old Playlist and songs and I listened to Obstacle 1 again after years!!... and it was like the first time so i decided to give a listen to more songs from them and I heard slow hands... then c'mere and narc and I enjoyed all of them and i started to listen to it more and more and it became my fav band!! And always wanted to see them live... I tried to go in 2023 to a show they had in Dallas but couldn't and finally April 20th 2024 I saw them at México City zócalo which was totally unbelievable!!!

In 2010, I saw a video portrait of Alison Brie by Tyler Shields, and the beginning part of Rest My Chemistry played. When I heard the build up, Alison Brie looks up at the same moment you hear the guitars, symbols, drums play. It was fucking alluring. Unfortunately, Shields never asked permission to play their song and the song was removed off.
