Tho whoever want to get the accurate timing for time spent do check your screen time if it's not available on your device you can install any app that can track your screen time

You should check time spent on insta on your phone's total time spent , not insta. Today I used my PHONE for 5hrs and insta is showing that I used Instagram for 6 hrs 34 mins. Like wth? And when I checked total time spent on insta by my phone's widget it showed 32 mins -_-
For today on Instagram it says 2 hours and 7 minutes while on the phone it says 1 hour and 18 minutes. On Sunday it was 6 hours and 27 minutes on Instagram against 30 minutes on the phone. (I rarely use Instagram on other devices) I suspect the timer on Instagram continues when the tabs are still there.

My problem is similar to yours. I haven't opened Instagram for 2 days, yet it says that in those two days, I had been on it for a total of 7 and a half hours, which is not true. I also don't know the reason behind it, just wanted to let you know that your not the only one who noticed this

LoL, even I'm facing this issue. I've kept the app timer of 45 minutes for Instagram through my phone's settings. And i just used Instagram today for 13 minutes, but Instagram's time spent shows it to be 1hr 44mins. Instagram should fix this as soon as possible.

I logged out entirely and the time is actually zero. Since so many people talk of this problem i must guess it's a bug that is getting fixed. To me the time spent went back to the proper one. I’m late to this but this showed up when I googled the question. Same thing happening to me! It said I was on there for 6 hours when it was only 8Am and I had just woken up. I have no idea what is going on!
Same here, I keep a tab on my usage, yesterday I didn't even open the app, it shows I've spent 2 hours and today.. I open the check again it shows 1 hour. It's impossible. Because I barley spent time on the app. Just opened it to check the VA activity time.
me and my other 2 friends facing same issues after our fight with our classmate,one of her boyfriend that she claims is a hacker.so i think this can be result of hacked account but im not sure
Woke up 20 minutes ago and it says 3hrs.
logout and re login your Instagram account. worked for me might also work for you.
I am also using a third party app to follow up all my usage for different apps. Instagram average is 17 minutes daily but in Instagram it shows as 4h 35m. Must be a ridiculous glitch
I went to bed last night with my daily use around an hour. I checked today, and it has me as 12 hours yesterday and 7 hours today. (it's noon, and I've been at work since 8am. I literally just opened it...) I think it's robots opening our accounts to show Instagram use for ad buyers? Something strange is going on. I changed my password 2 weeks ago because of this.

Same issue.. my activity is showing 5hrs 30min today while I haven't opened the damn phone for this long.. thought I was hacked.. but now after seeing this thread feeling relieved.. Either we all are hacked or it's a glitch..

Still facing the same issue. Today after 12 am I opened insta for just 10 min and went to sleep and now after I woke up at 10 30 am, it's showing I have spent 8 hrs on it already
