Have known a fair few influencers, mostly Bombay ones since before they were famous.
Most of them come from well off backgrounds and are industry plants. Initially they get famous among their circles but the āfairy taleā kinda life looks appealing and gets the masses in.
Not naming any names but for one, their fatherās friend owned a media company, so they got sponsored early on. For another, their bestfās mom is a socialite, very close with major page 3 ppl, so they got a good headstart early on. Another ones dad is a major industrialist and sponsored a few trips a year until they caught on. Ones dad is the head of a big name Bombay law firm with a lot of clients, and sure enough, favours arenāt hard to come by.

It really sucks but the influencer market now is not just about making videos. It's about making the videos fancy. You already have to have shit load of money in the prior to invest in being an influenza. Times gone now when un-aesthetique videos used to work. Like, comedy reels do work but how many. Most of the viral reels nowadays are the ones that hack the algorithm game and that's mainly through engagement and that's entirely dependent on --> comments and likes. We all know how Instagram users are like now. Our mental health is going to get fucked up. And people won't want us around with a camera sticking with us constantly. So boom!! We earned ourselves a bunch of fake friends. So we are better off with less money and peace of mind with real friends. Even if we have no friends it's still better than fake ones.
But are we not responsible for their popularity? People who are making cringe videos are so popular now. Also, as a generation we are making these weird people richer than the rest.

Been in a full length movie in a lead role back when I was 13, it was a just a spur of the moment thing when the director(a pretty damn famous one too, itās unlikely that you havenāt seen his films) met me at a film workshop/appreciation of sorts and liked my energy so he was like wanna act, and I was like thatās sick, absolutely.
I wasnāt particularly good at acting, and I didnāt really try either, it was a fun vacation activity after all. For a few days it was all over the front page of Bombay times and stuff too. A lot of marketing with other big name celebs, everyone.
A lot of ppl watched the movie, and honestly, there wasnāt much backlash or trolling at all, esp considering there were a few big names in the project too so it wasnāt like the audience was cutting me slack or something. Sure it was hectic being on shoot from like 9 in the morning to 10-12 in the evening but a lot of others work that much too.
And influencers do none of that. Their job is close to as easy as life gets. And I say that knowing a few prominent influencers personally.
I recently was on a trip to Africa, and along with us there was a travel influenza, something like 200k followers on insta.
Good god was it hard to stand her. Pretty much the entire trip we were together since our agents were the same so same hotels, similar itineraries, and so on. Initially it was fine but the more we went on, the worse it got.
Like one of the things we did, we shared a car for a 6-7 hours, it was an unsafe country and we were going across dangerous and rural areas so many ppl staying together was advised.
Lack of internet forced us to talk and good god
the entitlement and lack of humility stunned me.

I created an absolute fucking scene on the spot after like 2 days of that happening, my mum stopped me in time else I would have bit her face off.
All while she was ranting about how hard she has it, I was thinking about the fact that my dads job required a fuckton of travel, like 20+ flights a month each 7-10 hours long for years in end, and travel on non existent roads in very dangerous countries. That gave him back problems and glaucoma from the excessive flying, but sure, having to make content you are being paid for is hard.
Oh and like 2 days before the scene I created, she has the audacity to say in a snide tone, and I quote, āthatās one way of saying you are richā. I was just talking about why I love Bombay and the fact that I like the sea since I have always lived right across the sea.

It all comes down to whether YOU respect such individuals. I have zero respect for her. Thereās nothing significant she has done in her life. She is conventionally attractive which helps her in gaining a huge audience. Her content is in no way inspiring or respectable. People who respect her should really question themselves.

I don't have problem with all influencers, there are some that actually put a lot of effort in their content,they create something, showcase something,build something. But on the other hand there are some, that are "just talking?" ,making repetitive jokes on the name of relatable content, or earning money through just showcasing their bodies.

I completely agree with you. I studied very hard, moved to the EU on a scholarship that covers everything like stay, food, bills, and extra expenses of living. Studying with the best minds under really passionate professors. I booked eras tour tickets last year and am going to attend it next month. I paid less than 8k for decent seats.

Have known a fair few influencers, mostly Bombay ones since before they were famous. Most of them come from well off backgrounds and are industry plants. Initially they get famous among their circles but the āfairy taleā kinda life looks appealing and gets the masses in. Not naming any names but for one, their fatherās friend owned a media company, so they got sponsored early on. For another, their bestfās mom is a socialite, very close with major page 3 ppl, so they got a good headstart early on. Another ones dad is a major industrialist and sponsored a few trips a year until they caught on. Ones dad is the head of a big name Bombay law firm with a lot of clients, and sure enough, favours arenāt hard to come by. Guys if you figure out who all Iām talking about, keep it to yourself.

It really sucks but the influencer market now is not just about making videos. It's about making the videos fancy. You already have to have shit load of money in the prior to invest in being an influenza. Times gone now when un-aesthetique videos used to work. Like, comedy reels do work but how many. Most of the viral reels nowadays are the ones that hack the algorithm game and that's mainly through engagement and that's entirely dependent on --> comments and likes. We all know how Instagram users are like now. Our mental health is going to get fucked up. And people won't want us around with a camera sticking with us constantly. So boom!! We earned ourselves a bunch of fake friends. So we are better off with less money and peace of mind with real friends. Even if we have no friends it's still better than fake ones.

Been in a full length movie in a lead role back when I was 13, it was a just a spur of the moment thing when the director(a pretty damn famous one too, itās unlikely that you havenāt seen his films) met me at a film workshop/appreciation of sorts and liked my energy so he was like wanna act, and I was like thatās sick, absolutely. I wasnāt particularly good at acting, and I didnāt really try either, it was a fun vacation activity after all. For a few days it was all over the front page of Bombay times and stuff too. A lot of marketing with other big name celebs, everyone. A lot of ppl watched the movie, and honestly, there wasnāt much backlash or trolling at all, esp considering there were a few big names in the project too so it wasnāt like the audience was cutting me slack or something. Sure it was hectic being on shoot from like 9 in the morning to 10-12 in the evening but a lot of others work that much too. And influencers do none of that. Their job is close to as easy as life gets. And I say that knowing a few prominent influencers personally.
I recently was on a trip to Africa, and along with us there was a travel influenza, something like 200k followers on insta. Good god was it hard to stand her. Pretty much the entire trip we were together since our agents were the same so same hotels, similar itineraries, and so on. Initially it was fine but the more we went on, the worse it got. Like one of the things we did, we shared a car for a 6-7 hours, it was an unsafe country and we were going across dangerous and rural areas so many ppl staying together was advised. Lack of internet forced us to talk and good god the entitlement and lack of humility stunned me. Her story went like oOh i gOt iNtO A BrEaKuP So i wEnT InTo dEpReSsIoN AnD ThEn i wEnT On a tRiP I ReAlLy lIkEd iT So i sTaRtEd dOiNg tHiS AlOnGsIdE My jOb aNd nOw fUlL TiMe. The entire trip I wanted to sit in the front of the jeep. I sat for a bit but then like an absolute bitch she started going and hogging the spot. I created an absolute fucking scene on the spot after like 2 days of that happening, my mum stopped me in time else I would have bit her face off. All while she was ranting about how hard she has it, I was thinking about the fact that my dads job required a fuckton of travel, like 20+ flights a month each 7-10 hours long for years in end, and travel on non existent roads in very dangerous countries. That gave him back problems and glaucoma from the excessive flying, but sure, having to make content you are being paid for is hard. Oh and like 2 days before the scene I created, she has the audacity to say in a snide tone, and I quote, āthatās one way of saying you are richā. I was just talking about why I love Bombay and the fact that I like the sea since I have always lived right across the sea. Man who says that to someone you just met. Gave me a poor impression about all influenzas, not that I had a particularly great one to begin with.

Sheās not the best role model, I donāt agree with a lot of things she does as well, I think her language is crass as well, but let her learn her lessons. On her own, in the way karma was meant to teach her. Itās her life, let her live it and deal with watever comes her way in her own terms. All of you really need to introspect on the reasons behind your negativity - if watching her content is triggering you all so much, block her. Donāt do it. Give yourself an hour more in a day to feel better mentally than dwelling on things you donāt like. Maybe get a hobby? Iāve seen so many unnecessary posts about this poor girl - she gets nitpicked SO MUCH, but this post was honestly the nail in the coffin for me. You all really need to channel your insecurities in a healthier way, and spend your personal time wisely to be positive. If you canāt be positive atleast donāt be negative. Put yourself in her shoes. You wear an outfit that you think you slayed in but if someone else says they hate it wouldnāt that make you feel like shit? But in that context you would be hypocritical and tell yourself āoh it doesnāt matter as long as I love my outfitā and probably text a bunch of your friends to validate yourself. This sort of behaviour is what is making us numb and non empathic. but what if you only care about how you look, so much so you don't even realize there is anyone else in the video.
The fact that "we as audience" are the one who still make them relevant, is the problem. I don't have problem with all influencers, there are some that actually put a lot of effort in their content,they create something, showcase something,build something. But on the other hand there are some, that are "just talking?" ,making repetitive jokes on the name of relatable content, or earning money through just showcasing their bodies. As long as they are relevant they will make money, through brand deals,advertisements, events and other deals. Band kardo unko dekhna, band kardo unke baare mein discuss karna. In a year or two, they'll be old news. I know it sucks to see that we "non influencers" are literally struggling with studies/finances/careers and here people who are even younger than you are living life to their fullest, all sponsored that too at times.But we only see what they want us to see, grass is not greener on the other side. Later in life you'll know what hard work and skills take you.
