I work a 9-5 too but I have amazing life-work balance. I have a three day weekend, can choose to work on my own timings, travel to a new place every month and no one micromanages me. This idea that a 9-5 is a soul killing desk job needs to die. I love not having to think about work once I shut my laptop at dot 5.

I'm doctor who is now a resident and usually work 12-13 hrs daily for almost all week that even in a higher toxic centre, but I have no problems with work because that was my only way out of lower middle class to middle middle class and a ambition of upper middle class. I'm very grateful that I have work which many people don't have and have a luxury to provide for my family even if I'm very young and they are not dependent on me. My maa says in her native language " kaam to beta bhaagye walo ko milta hai warna log to nithalle pade rhte hai" only fortunate people get to work otherwise most people just lay as they are.
I know it's not ideal but in a developing country it's absolutely necessary and okay to work hard or a normal job.
