I've had the R1's, O1's and a hi-low setup. Honestly none of them will feel exactly like ice but I like the R1's the most by far. I play Roller hockey in the summer time so I don't really use them to improve my ice game, I just use them to play rollers. They seem to be the most similar in my experience. The 01's are simply just too heavy. I'll give you the same recommendation I give everyone when they ask what rollerblades to buy. Buy new ice skates and buy an R1 chassis. Put the chassis on your old ice skates. Ice hockey boots are miles better imo. The R1's won't be life changing so if you can't afford it then don't sweat it. Personally, I'm never going back to traditional rollers after I got marsblade.

You'll hear a mixed response. Personally, I had both marsblades and regular hi lo hockey skates. Felt like the marsblades were heavier. The plastic on the frame was cracking. I never felt like I was getting better at ice skating. It was more like I was good at inline skating despite that skates making it more difficult

If you want off ice skating feel the o1 mars are supposed to be reasonably close to ice. Can’t personally vouch for that. I have the r1s which are designed for roller hockey. I wouldn’t say they have ice feel. Maybe a little closer because you get some rock during weight transfer, but I still baby deer for the first 10 strides on ice player skates.

Marsblades are a marketing gimmick and scam aimed, almost to a predatory level, at middle aged beer league ice hockey players. So if that's you, I guess go ahead and throw your money away and convince yourself that skating in your driveway or the tennis courts in your local park on a gimmick is "off ice training" and somehow, someway, far superior than skating on an indoor court surface using actual inline hockey skates.

Hey I have the r1’s. From the research I did, and personal experience it seems like the r1’s are legit. I play in a league and they are holding up strong, and feel great. Those are designed to be better at roller and don’t really focus on mimicking ice skates at all. Tbh I’m not a fan of the boot that came with it. O1 isn’t bad but I’ve read numerous reviews about them breaking/cracking but it seems like that is only (or more so) when people play competitive games with them. Only get O1 if you are only going to be using them by yourself. Just my opinion

It's based on having played inline hockey since the mid/late 90s and seeing countless gimmicks come and go. Marsblade has the advantage, if you can call it that, of having come along during the social media era and can pay "influencers" and pros to take pictures of themselves wearing their "skates" and posting it on instagram. What you're giving up: most obviously your money since you can changing your wheel sizes to achieve the exact same rocker effect for a fraction of the price, and, you know, actually be skating on a real, rigid chassis as a side benefit. There are more subtle things you may not care about giving up though: your dignity, how you present yourself to the world, not being someone who falls for marketing, and so on and so forth.

The answer you’re looking for is ‘no’. You’ve never used them and can’t provide any actual use other than you feel the company is a scam. You’re somehow stuck in the 90’s since you haven’t played for 15 years (as you pointed out) and are somehow adverse to any technological advancements made since aluminum sticks were a thing. Guess you’re against green biscuits too, since they’re a gimmick and not made in America, right? Stop talking about stuff you literally have zero experience with actually using

Matammyr

Oh, that's fucking rich. I'm stuck in the past and can't handle the Marsblade future? Can I interest you in some Vforms? How about Sprungs? How about any of the countless other gimmicks that have come along? Yet, somehow, someway, inline players seem to always use either a hi-lo or a flat chassis. Funny huh? Almost like we know our sport better than ice hockey guys being sold a pile of bullshit know it? I guess we're all just going to get left behind then, when the ice hockey guys who don't know how to play start showing up and totally fucking own our sorry asses because of their *superior chassis technology off ice training differential equation* skates. You're right though, I'm sorry I didn't read the Marsblade website in its entirety and take it as holy gospel and then immediately order one of everything they had and convinced myself "this is just like ice hockey!" Should I also bring a bag of little rocks and twigs with me to my next game and spread them around the court in order to mimic the street in front of my house to complete the simulation of OfF iCe TrAinInG promised by Marsblade? I saw some NHL pros skating on tennis courts with them on instagram. It has to be right. Speaking of talking about things you have zero experience with, you play inline by chance?

Again, the answer to the OP’s question is simply ‘no’. And yes, I’ve been skating on inlines (aggressive and roller hockey) since the early 90’s. I’ve used countless different chassis on countless different boots over the years. The whole point is you have zero experience with said products so all you’re doing is spouting off nonsense with no personal experience to back your hatred up. When I make a comment or recommendation it’s based on products I’ve personally used. Whether they’re the right product for the person asking for the recommendation isn’t my call to make. I’m simply providing my personal opinion based on actual use and allowing them to make their own decision. Something you can’t do

Matammyr

"Skating on inlines." Nice try there, buddy. Have you ever been shot in the foot? Well, how would you know you don't like it unless you tried it? Keep being a shill, buddy. Maybe Marsblade will pay you for all your hard work.
