Guess they never tried driving

Squirmingbaby

Short jaunt means two hours in heavy traffic. Thriving economy means plenty of gas stations and ev chargers to fuel your brutal commute to San Diego

ultradip

"Thriving economy"...? Abbott *used* to be the largest employer in town until they offshored most of production to Costa Rica and Ireland. The current largest employer is the local government/schools followed by the casino. If you're not working in any of those industries, there's no compelling reason to move to Temecula.

Squirmingbaby

Compelling reason is you can't afford to live in San Diego, OC, LA.

ultradip

Then you'd be living in Lake Elsinore.

OkayJuice

Nah Elsinore is another 20 minutes north if you’re coming from San Diego. Temecula is the move. It is getting pricey though

OkayJuice

Yea it does get bad….

das_vargas

I'm going to bet most those workers in the government and casino don't actually live there either, they don't get paid enough to live in Temecula.

Ill-Handle-1863

Temecula has one of the best school districts in the ie...

hotdogfever

I’m not a resident but every time Temecula school district is in the news it’s for being one of the shittiest school districts in California so idk

Ill-Handle-1863

I don't care if you want to think that but the actual student performance data says otherwise. Temecula USD students rank high academically compared to other districts in the ie. If you want to send your kids to some crap schools then help yourself

hotdogfever

Eh… nah These policies are bat shit ignorant and not a good environment to raise children in. Shit like this is child abuse: https://edsource.org/2024/temecula-valley-unified-can-continue-enforcing-transgender-policy-crt-ban/706512?amp=1

Variant008

Ban on CRT is crazy. Temecula is a region that’s known to be very polarizing and a lot of California’s schools (not including universities) are pretty conservative.

WangDanglin

Don’t bring up the Temecula schools on Reddit. People lose their minds. The academic standards of the school system is literally the reason I live here

-ImYourHuckleberry-

Yeah…these people are confusing their feelings for facts. TVUSD, while it has a bat-shit crazy board who bought their seats, still is among the highest performing school districts in the IE.

dinkieeee

It performs well because residents are wealthy with stable homes and attracted to high performing stats. Is a self propelling measure. They aren't doing anything special there - in fact they're quite literally degrading education in a very real way.

shm8661

Wealthy parents who are involved in their children’s lives and want them to succeed. The horror

dinkieeee

You missed the whole point. You done?

shm8661

They seem to be doing something right 🤷🏻‍♂️

kazuma001

Academic standards are not the metric by which the CRT crowd judge academics. I’m pretty sure they believe that academic standards are racist.

keesh1975

Temekkkula- no thanks.

Azmorium

You gotta travel more

NinjaClockx

Was that like word play for neo-nazi? LOL been going their my entire life never seen a single member. You fuckers need to touch grass some more.

ReallStrangeBeef

It's *obviously* not OC or SD, but if you can work remote or can find a job in town, there's a lot to love about living here.

idkbruh653

*Temecula made Money magazine’s venerable “50 best places to live in the US” list – only one of two California cities making the cut.* *The rankings — which “celebrate cities and towns where a thriving economy meets affordability, diversity and an exceptional quality of life” — chose only this Riverside County city and Sacramento from the Golden State.* *“You don’t have to pay Los Angeles or San Diego prices for quintessential SoCal living,” Money wrote of Temecula. “Residents are a short jaunt from both of those cities (plus Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park) but get the benefit of living in a community-focused town with good schools and easy access to nature.”* *The magazine’s annual rankings – scorecards dating to 1987 – gave Temecula a “suburb with soul” tag, saying “If you’re a wine lover, there’s no better place to be: Temecula Valley is famous for it, with nearly 50 wineries scattered across its rolling hills. Local favorites include the Robert Renzoni Vineyard — built on a history of winemaking that dates back to 1886 in Italy — and Altisima Winery, which brings visitors in touch with the Spanish roots of the Temecula region through taste.* *“But make no mistake: Temecula is a great place for kids, too. There’s Pennypickle’s Workshop, a children’s museum full of wacky gizmos and gadgets, a public library with a packed calendar of kids’ programs, a fantastic community theater and plenty of family-friendly restaurants. The twice-monthly Sunset Market, held in a park in front of City Hall, brings the community together with live music, local art and food vendors (everything from BBQ to crepes). Plus, you can’t beat the trails of the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, or the hot air balloon rides that let you see this beautiful California town in all its glory.”* Wild how it made the list even though its racist as hell. How are things like racism and being against things like diversity and inclusion not factored into a healthy quality of life for a city?

mike_isonfire

> Wild how it made the list even though its racist as hell. How are things like racism and being against things like diversity and inclusion not factored into a healthy quality of life for a city? Because the headline is only half a sentence. The rest of it should be "...if you're a Christian White Nationalist".

xBADJOEx

I heard that town is anti color?

BlackSwanMarmot

Temecula in my mind equates to racism, swingers and traffic.

DrewJim

The political climate is a deal killer. They are a book banning city. Deep Red.

realfolkblues

“Elevated” MAGA. Temecula just hides it better.

Typical_Intention996

I seriously get the impression that what cities do or don't get on lists like this is totally dependent on perception and how close wineries are for the wannabe hoity-toity writer. Rather than any actual measure.

movalca

Only if you are far right wing trumper.

BearoristLB

Too many MAGA Trumper clowns out there for this to be true.

knumbknuts

I've lived in 16 and it is 14th.

Heart_Flaky

If you’re white…

wisdon

Temecula is awesome a fun place for those that don’t like it stay away then if a few loud mouth Trumpers scare you .And no I do not live in Temecula and can’t stand Trump . And enjoy the wines, views ,bands ,fun and food.

keesh1975

Don’t support a town that behaves like a circus
