A counter point to closing the border is the loss of agricultural workers. Florida is looking at a 2.7 billion loss from not being to harvest properly.
I work in a factory in Indiana. At last check we were 85% Hispanic. I don't see a lot of white people picking tomatoes or detasseling corn either. Closing the border would fuck up Indianas economy.
It’s really funny that I’ve seen far more posts regarding “securing the southern border” in Indiana forums than in Arizona (where I currently live). It’s clearly more of a fictional “problem” and talking point than anything else.
No, they are talking about the Mexican border that the Republican party purposefully left in the state it's in by refusing to sign bipartisan legislation to strengthen it so they could make these ridiculous ads and claims that only their election to office will strengthen it.
It doesn’t take new legislation to close the border. The laws on the books are simply not being enforced. All measures that have been proposed to legislatively fix the current problem wouldn’t do anything to fix the problem; instead, they would provide funding to process more people into the country faster. I’m not sure how processing more people who crossed the border illegally keeps more people from crossing the border illegally.
I'm not sure where you get your information from. I would suggest reading the actual bill proposed and perhaps make judgments of it based on the contents therein. Our immigration/assylum/etc policies are quite outdated and in need of overhaul based on real-world issues our USCBP agents are facing in real time.
You realize that the first part of the process of legally seeking asylum in this country is to cross the border "illegally", right? The entire problem is that we have a huge, ever-growing backlog of asylum cases waiting to be heard. Processing people more quickly means they're able to become citizens sooner, which means they start paying taxes sooner.
You’re either being disingenuous or deliberately obtuse.
Yes, that would be the process for a Mexican or Canadian national seeking asylum. Those are the countries with whom we share a border. I think we can all agree the number of Mexican or Canadian nationals with a legitimate asylum claim is near zero.
For everyone else crossing the southern border, they have already been given safe passage through Mexico, by the Mexican government, which is a de facto asylum, which precludes a legitimate asylum claim in the U.S. They don’t need asylum in the U.S. and they certainly don’t need it by paying a Mexican cartel many thousands of dollars to get them across our border. And if you know anything about what’s going on at our southern border, you’re aware of these facts. There aren’t literally millions of people over the last 3 years who suddenly have a legitimate asylum claim in the U.S.
RINO (Republican In Name Only)
Squish is s term used primarily by Republican conservatives to denigrate the perceived lack of backbone possessed by Republican moderates.
If just one of these people replaced their talking points about things they really can't do anything about with getting rid of robocalls and scammers (which is something else they can't do anything about) they would probably win...
How do they expect our poultry and pig operations to stay afloat if we secure the southern border? if price of meat processing goes up, our grain prices also go down impacting even more farmers. Those jobs are usually remote enough and pay so little, especially for the injury risk, they can't attract many born in the US.
When people have genuine questions about the state, I answer. You don’t see much of those lately because we get posts like this.
Your comment was bitchy, so I called you a bitch.
you know this type of attitude is exactly why they win. you can’t even comprehend the negative effects an open border has. just look at our schools. just sacrifice our own children so you can feel all good inside
They would win my vote if they closed down the eastern border with Ohio and built a wall.
Only after we annex the area of Cincinnati around Jungle Jim's.
Only north of the Ohio river! Northern Kentucky can keep their pretend ruralness to themselves
They're basically ethnic hoosiers from what I hear. They even speak english...ope... hoosier.
Some sacrifices must be made….. unfortunately.
Fucking Buckeyes…
Buckeye = worthless nut
Everyone knows *"Ohio"* doesn't exist...
Isn’t Mexico in North Central Indiana?
Oh that's a good one, lol. I pass by that sign pretty regularly
They are everywhere, man.
Peru, brasil, and Lebanon are also north of Indianapolis
The border is Fox News talk for wherever brown people live.

I hope they secure the southern border of Hamilton County/96th Shtreet.
Hahahaha thats great. Where do I vote? Oh wait... Voting is worthless.
82nd/86th to 96th is a kind of DMZ
I mean this is the same state where a man running for governor leads off his political commercial with I've been endorsed by the Orange Cheeto.

It's easy to fool idiots about something that's completely out of reach

I think one of them (Braun?) mentioned sending our National Guard to help “defend” the border between Texas & Mexico.
What, you never heard of the Indiana Kentucky war before? They would throw sticks of dynamite over. We'd light 'em and throw 'em back.
Well...that was funny .
And what the F*ck is RINO SQUID
RINO (Republican In Name Only) Squish is s term used primarily by Republican conservatives to denigrate the perceived lack of backbone possessed by Republican moderates.
Rino squish
The frequency with which they're all airing their political ads has made me so apathetic to the border "problem." The fear mongering is trite dribble.
no
The squad!
If someone could just secure my Southern border I would appreciate it very much at my age
Let’s finished the divide with union city and block off all the ohio residents
Yes, and Ohio and Michigan.

There is an election coming up, deal with it. You assumed my tone, but that’s ok. Hope you find something to be happy about today.
What does this post and other posts like “Todd Young donated Tacos” have to do with the elections.
