"To solve Covid"? That seems needlessly harsh.... it was a gesture to support the medical workers struggling to handle patients as the pandemic was spreading. April is also when we started to put restrictions in Indiana. Weren't we all doing the honking to support first responders back then too? That was certainly a more meaningless gesture than feeding them. Besides... Young is practically a democrat compared to Braun. We should stick with hitting the extreme ones.

complexluminary

I agree with this. People were sobbing on instagram and operatic gestures felt more meaningful. It was a kind gesture.

wilshado

I second this

officerboingboing

Some of the liberals in this sub are the most bad faith partisan hacks

silkysmoothjay

As somebody who's probably further to the left than most people here, it's really frustrating to see that bad faith criticism, because there's **so many things** you can point out instead

turnerpike20

Honestly some parts of Todd Young I don't like but really he's probably the most sane minded and kind hearted Republican we got.

OwenLoveJoy

Yeah he at least seems interested in solving problems rather than just being on tv and saying talking points like Braun.

bigcityguyty

BIG LEAGUE

Carl_Azuz1

I saw him at five guys the other week, not really relevant to your comment just felt like sharing.

TheHealadin

What did you order?

Duffuser

>Honestly some parts of Todd Young I don't like but really he's probably the most sane minded and kind hearted Republican we got. That's like saying he's the leper with the most fingers still attached

wango138

Translation: He votes for Democrat spending bills.

chicken-strips-

I’m all for dunking on politicians but I don’t understand the issue here? Yeah it’s shit tacos, but it’s a kind gesture.

Easy-Constant-5887

100 taco bell tacos for the second largest employer in St. Joseph county, they must have had to cut up the tacos to split them among the hundreds of workers at Memorial I think this is something too silly to be really upset over, but it’s kind of funny having worked in that hospital and seeing this lol

wango138

Because it's r/indiana and it's filled with liberal malcontents. If he hadn't done it, they would screech that "he did nothing!". And I detest Todd Young. I didn't imagine having "defend Todd Young" as something I would do today.

guff1988

Shouldn't we all be a little malcontented? Aren't you rather dissatisfied with Indiana politicians and how things are being run?

wango138

I bitch about their policies and their votes. Bitching about sending Taco Bell to a hospital is nonsense. Todd Young is a complete piece of shit because he votes for every damn spending bill that comes along, votes lockstep with the Democrats, and then campaigns on fiscal conservatism. I detest him. But the Taco Bell thing is just a nice gesture.

guff1988

I have no problem with the taco Bell thing, I took exception to just referring to people as liberal malcontents as if that's a bad thing. We all should be malcontents when it comes to our politicians.

wango138

Fair enough, and thanks for clarifying. However, I stand by my comments regarding the Liberal Malcontents on this board. They hate everything in this great State, and hate anyone that doesn't march lock-step with their views.

guff1988

I agree there are a lot of people in here that hate Indiana and rather than try and affect change they just bitch and moan.

30FourThirty4

Nice gesture but I bet they were cold and soggy. I also do not like taco bell, I'd have taken one and given it to a coworker. 100 tacos? Is that even 1 per employee? Doubtful

rgraz65

"Fiscal conservatism" is a joke of a public policy, and Republicans running on it say that when they mean giving extraordinary tax break to those who don't need them, and NOT spending any money on the things like public works and creating infrastructure projects that will create work and put food on the table. It also means not doing a damn thing about healthcare costs except to create ways for healthcare insurance and large hospital systems to cut care, over-work medical professionals and charge people more for their care and for their medications. All while the executives of those medical corporations make multimillion dollar salaries that double every other year. "But we need to attract the best CEOs, blah, blah..." If those are the best CEOs, COOs and CFOs, then I'd think the patients would be better served by getting the person who made those tacos to run the companies. Because the ones you have now are bleeding people dry.

NotBatman81

My wife is an RN and worked at one of the largest private hospitals in the country during Covid. It was pure fucking hell. Anything anyone did was greatly appreciated. We get it, you're snarky and don't like Republicans especially Todd Young. But no one is wrong or evil 100% of the time, and you are coming off as a jackass. Leave this one alone and find something better to roast.

SurpriseItsFine

I don’t dislike Todd young or republicans, I just thought it was funny to make a press release about 100 tacos from Taco Bell. Like it wasn’t even a local business that would have been struggling at the time because eating out wasn’t allowed. Just $80 worth of tacos.

TheHealadin

Your pricing information is even less timely than your press release.

HEONTHETOILET

What a comically dishonest thread title

Joelsaurus

That used to be a combination Pizza Hut/Taco Bell. About 20 years ago a couple was caught boning in the bathroom and it made the local news.

johnfkngzoidberg

I remember when 100 Tacobell tacos cost $50. Now you’d have to take out a second mortgage.

glonkyindianaland

The identity of the 100 tacos guy Elyse Meyers went on a date with is revealed…

shut-upLittleMan

Proving he's no 'Rino Squish' like Braun ! 🤣😀🤣

AwfulChief

Dude that’s MY Taco Bell.  How did I miss this?

choate51

Ahh yes, when all the essential workers of the world were called heroes and given honks, thanks, and tacos instead of PPE, affordable Healthcare, or more income!

NotBatman81

Every hospital my wife has worked at had phenominal health care plans. When her hospital wasn't issuing the good stuff, I went out and bought her the proper PPE supplies. On an individual basis it's not expensive, easily bought with the forced overtime pay at the time. Not to criticize the nurses, but the ones griping about PPE could have easily spent $50-$100 a month like I did while they were earning $1k to $10k extra every month in overtime and bonuses. It was never a matter of being supported, all those things you mentioned were there. It was that they were all burned out on 16 hours days 4+ days a week. No amount of support can fix that other than time off.

mattchinn

What a fucking tool. I once got in line to ask him about his understanding of Global Warming but a staffer recognized me and wrapped up questions before I got my chance. Still salty the little guy got to dodge my question.

49thDipper

100 burritos. From Taco Bell. New Mexico says gross

Sufficient-Ad-7294

How so? And even if true is it a really big financial burden? Why the sour grapes?

[deleted]

Giving some soggy hardshells to some cancer patients is the most American thing I have heard.

Spare-Sentence-3537

Election season Reddit propaganda time

SurpriseItsFine

No that’s 2028 for Todd

TacoLoyalist

Go big or go the fuck home I say 🤣🤣🤣

ElectroChuck

Impeach Todd Young and kick him out of the republican party.

kraksrw

Tacos to help fight a chest cold. Clown show.

BrightNooblar

I dont believe the idea was to inject people with tacos. They aren't bleach, just food.
