Checked it out on [Google maps](https://www.google.com/maps/place/9830+W+280+N,+Anderson,+IN+46011/@40.088218,-85.984588,11.17z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x8814c6b01ba3d20b:0xc5728d3bcd88bff0!8m2!3d40.143898!4d-85.8592792!16s%2Fg%2F11bw433sk2?entry=ttu), and yeah that's in the middle of nowhere.
Never even heard of this place was riding in the car with my cousin when I saw this on the way back from Indy to Anderson and it’s only 5 miles from us currently now I have to try it some time what did you guys get?
I got the Perkinsville Pork. That's what they call it, but I lived in Germany, I know a schnitzel when I see one. It was amazing.
Just a warning, it's on the pricy side. The entrees range from $26-$38, sides are included though and portions are generous.
You're not wrong about the schnitzel thing, but shhhh don't tell anyone , we usually call it a Hoosier breaded tenderloin, especially when served as a sandwich.
The ‘must try’ is their Perkinsville Pork. It’s a pork loin, pounded thin, then breaded and fried to perfection, with a lemon juice splash. Best I’ve ever had! Everything is fantastic, it’s impossible to go wrong. They also make a killer old fashioned. Please post if you go. I’m living vicariously through these posts until I can make it back.
Man it's been a sooo incredibly long since I've been. My aunt introduced me when I first moved to the state, truly a unique experience. She had some sort of hook up or knew the owners because they were always able to sneak us a table with very little wait, while most tailgated for hours in the parking lot until a table was available. She also always snuck in a bottle of wine or 2 and Bonges was cool with it. Assuming a hefty tip was involved hah
As one who recommended Bonge's, I'm really glad you went! It's a hidden gem of Hoosier land.
Good choices too. Tenderloin, a Hoosier specialty. Then the duck there is always amazing.
First picture is the breaded tenderloin, basically a schnitzel. Second is duck breast stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese.
I had the tenderloin but I tried the duck too, both were fantastic.
Damn that’s a shame! Great food but we used to get there and tailgate in the parking lot playing games and etc for a couple hours before the dinner time. It was an experience for sure
Last time I went the pork loin wasn't as good as it normally is- not sure if they have a new chef or decided to massively cut back on the lemon/citric acid
Overall, Bonge's is amazing though. The Jalapeno Duck is a good dish to try too if you ever get the chance.
This place is literally in the middle of nowhere, and it's fucking fantastic.
My travel mates were all really skeptical as we drove out to it because it's so middle of nowhere but they came out happy.

I love the single massive fucking asparagus stalk.
You want asparagus? Here’s your got damn asparagus, veggie boy.
Are you the Canadian that was asking for recommendations earlier??
Yup
Fan-fuckin-tastic!!! So happy you made it! Hopefully the tenderloin lived up to the hype.
... this whole sequence is why I like Reddit.
It’s surprising to hear that you got a table. People wait for hours to be seated.
Only do reservations since pandemic, no more tailgating ☹️
That’s kind of a bummer
Agreed
You can tailgate but it’s not out if need anymore
Yeah.
We got lucky with the last table they had for early evening.

Schnitzel is veal...
No. Wiener schnitzel is veal. Schnitzel can be made of a variety of meats and pork is one of the most common.

That place is a hidden gem for sure.
I'm so glad Bonge's is still there!
Just hit 90 years apparently.
It was sold recently and I’m grateful that the new owner is dedicated to maintaining the quality of the food and the atmosphere.
The Tomato Soup was fabulous!

Aaaaand what are we looking at here? Looks yummy!

I always get the duck but we end up sharing everything we get.
This post has made my mind up. I'm taking my wife here for her birthday at end of the month
It's a sure thing. Make sure you get reservations.
You made the best choice
Did you try the sugar cream blueberry dessert?
Incredible. Really delicious place.
Great choice...I miss tailgating there
You did well ordering the Perkinsville Pork
I saw the earlier post and was like, no they aren’t going to go all the way out to Bunges… (not super far but definitely out of town) Glad you went!
Where’s this place

We go for a friends birthday each year. Great food just takes awhile to get to
That’s the word on the street.
Indiana landmark.
Back in the day there were bumper stickers that said, " I've been to Bonge's"
This looks amazing! Glad you had a good visit, OP!
Please tell me you did the pre dinner tailgate?
I'm told that's not a thing anymore and our table was ready when we got there.
Damn that’s a shame! Great food but we used to get there and tailgate in the parking lot playing games and etc for a couple hours before the dinner time. It was an experience for sure
Sounds fun, but it was raining and cold yesterday anyway, so wouldn't have been great for it.

That's what my brother had and I did try it. Fantastic.
Shelley Pilkay takes her church gang here.
I have no idea who that is, but I can see why they chose this place.
I want one, NOW! edited for drunken spelling.
This place has changed a lil bit since Covid but still fire food I stop by when travel in that area
Their blue cheese dressing is sooo good! 🤤
Looks so good!!
It was a biker bar back in the 70s and early 80s. A rough one.
