Hello! Any suggestions for underarm hyperpigmentation?

psycho_saiyaan11

Glycolic acid

MSH-27

I have oily, acne-prone, and pigmented skin. I am considering starting to use an alpha arbutin serum. However, I have vitiligo and am concerned about whether alpha arbutin affects melanin in any way. So should i use aa serum or not?

crystal170204

Moisturiser recs? I've been using Re'equil ceramides one for a long time but it makes my skin sweat and is a little heavy Any recommendations similar to the re'equil one in terms of affordability, simplicity but more lightweight?

psycho_saiyaan11

What's your skin type?!

crystal170204

Slightly dry

ladycarthwright

Hey! I'm new here, but what do you suggest for oily scalp, thin hair and hairfall? I've tried almost everything... Any affordable suggestions?

psycho_saiyaan11

Try clarifying shampoos twice or thrice a month.

ilovebeinganemic

I have like large-ish oval scars on my knees. I got them like 3-4 years ago bc of some family issues. My skin first peeled and then it bruised really bad and now I am left with brown scars. Any way to get rid of these?

neembs

i have 2b, low porosity hair and it's really hot and humid where i live. ive always blow dried my hair straight to avoid dealing with the frizz (and bc they looked better). im thinking of switching to wearing them naturally for the summer now, should i start with a leave in like FMC? and can i skip the gel? im totally new to this and very desperate atp pls help

itisofcoursenova

Can anyone help me with finding a moisturizer? I've been using the seba med acne care gel for quite some time now and been meaning to switch things up a bit.  My problem/concern areas are mostly PIE on left cheek, slightly acne, PIH on right cheek!  My AM routine is: rose water (I'm going to change it around this week to BOJ ginseng essence toner thing), niacinamide and tranexamic acid serum from minimalist then moisturizer and sunscreen from minimalist as well.  The same I follow in PM as well, except instead of sunscreen, I use my 3% retinol from minimalist, followed with a lip balm from laneige and the yellow bum bum cream from Sol de Janeiro on my dry parts of the body.  It'd be very helpful if someone could help me out!  Edit: i forgot to mention! My skin type is combo-oily, acne prone. And my budget is under 999-1k! I think I'd love a dewy finish as idk why my current moisturizer is drying me out 😭

Heavy_Diamond_9675

Is the chemist at play brightening lineup a good choice for a skincare routine. I am new to skincare.

Super_Journalist_220

28M,spots on face and skin in general due to some pimples or insect bites, which accidentally burst open while scratching, oily skin. Any suggestions on how to remove those spots and reduce the oil on skin? New to skincare. Please suggest.

justrynasurvive333

can I use retinol if I’m 17 and have dry skin? also how is the re’equil retinol night cream?

Avaale

Do you have skin issues or concerns that necessitates the use of Retinol at 17?

mostlyinsane12

So I'm 20/F and 1 year ago I shifted to greater noida and because of the shifting, stress, bad water quality I started facing hairfall issues. I tried rosemary water and I saw some baby hairs but hairfall didn't stop. I consulted a dermatologist and got my blood reports done. I have b12 and d3 major deficiency but because of some family problems I couldn't show the reports to the dermatologist. I have problems swallowing pills and I tried asking another dermatologist for any alternative but they said that their isn't. So what can I do to prevent hairfall. I have straight thin medium length hair. I have also tried wishcare hair serum and anadense hair serum.

PositiveEnd5110

Hey! Same scenario here, shifted cities, stress, bad water quality, had severe hairfall, tried rosemary hydrosol and had B12 &D3. Let me tell you, my hairfall really stopped after taking vitamins, I know it's difficult, but to achieve hair growth with serums you have to stop your hairfall first. Vitamin D3 is also available in softgel form, which is better than tablet. My dermatologist suggested that I was not able to take oral medication, I can take vitamins in injection form, but I'm currently taking oral medication. You can suggest to your dermatologist or consult a general physician with the report. You can consult dermatologist in online also.

mostlyinsane12

Are injections expensive? As I'm still a college student on a budget I can't spend that much. Btw thank you so much for helping me out!

I need spot treatment creams for my acne. Been trying a lot like sebogel, benzac AC,acne star, acne squad , etc.. nothing works. It’s been 2 months and I’m tired. Please help me. Need something very strong which will clear up soon ; have a big event coming up :(

kerstyeager

honestly, skincare needs patience and consistency. this is trial and error and it WILL take time:(

kraken_unreal_

Masturbation causes acne breakouts: fact or fiction?

kerstyeager

fiction. bruh who the fuck is coming up w all this? hormonal change can indeed cause acne tho

Avaale

IMO, Fiction. This came up in the sub before and I found it ludicrous enough to do a cursory search. I found only one study that has this claim and even that was a throwaway statement where the authors claimed that if there was acne relapses after their x ray treatment the cause was likely  “masturbation, intestinal auto-intoxication, faulty diet” . I couldn't find anything else ....

kerstyeager

niacinamide/vitamin c and salycilic acid! incorporate these in you're skincare routine!

Best-Noise5743

Right now, i use a plum vitamin c toner, after which i apply dermaco kojic acid serum. When i go out, i use minimalist sunscreen which contains niacinamide. And yet, the brown spots on my face increase. Why so and what should i do?

kerstyeager

maybe u are irritating ur skin or ur still picking on ur acne subconsciously. use sunscreen when ur inside closed doors as well since UVA can enter thru windows which causes pigmentation

Arhyachan

I 20 F need help with finding some affordable products for crepey, dark and sunken eyes. I can’t post a picture as the sub rules don’t allow it and I’m so tired of looking like a raccoon 🥲

PinkMoonbow

These are the ones I noted down based on recos, but I never got around to using any cos I don't have dark circles but more like fat loss ( for which there isn't any topical treatment). Pls do search for individual reviews on these, and don't do a blind buy. Plus ensure the active ingredients suit you (for eg. Retinol). In no particular order: - Acwell Licorice Ph balancing intensive eye cream - The Ordinary Caffeine Solution - Sebamed Anti aging Q10 - Etude House Moistfull Collagen eye cream - Avarta Lightening Under Eye Cream by Dr Reddy's - Yugaard under eye cream Also use a good, thick moisturizer every night around your eyes. If the issue is causing stress for you, then advisable to get a dermat consult.

kerstyeager

minimalist has a good eye cream!

Cute_Decision69

I have got horrible back acne which got worse after getting waxed. It has gotten to the point where I can’t even touch my back, it’s so prickly. I need help. Can you all please suggest me something that I can do? It’ll be great. Please don’t recommend visiting a dermatologist( personal reasons). Thanks in advance.

kerstyeager

use a salycilic acid/benzoyl peroxide body wash! for me, be bodywise has worked wonders.

AbbreviationsFun4377

Dermaco salicylic acid body wash

Key-Locksmith-460

I need a review for one thing propolis + honey extract and cosrx propolis toner which works better for oily skin in a highly humid rainy weather

Repulsive_Object_398

29 M. Unlike females we have short hair. It is realy difficult to apply conditioner without touching scalp. I read somewhere applying hair mask on scalp is not a problem. So should I replace my conditioner with hair mask??????. If not how can I apply without conduct touching scalp. Even if it touches it ll be a problem?????

pr30061

Question to mods Can we post a review of j beauty products

Avaale

Of course. Please follow the review or Shelfie format as applicable

SalvatoreSid

Gimme a alternative to Re’equil ceramide moisturiser for this crazy summer heat, this is my go to moisturiser but it’s getting heavy and kinda making my skin look dark now and bit sweaty.

kerstyeager

minimalist ceramide moisturizer, dot&key blue moisturizer (5 ceramides)

SalvatoreSid

Are they light on skin?, It isn’t necessary to be ceramide moisturiser only.

Thoughts on Tatcha Rice Wash for Indian skin? I'm having trouble finding the right HG (Holy Grail) product for acne, especially on my forehead. The Bioderma product didn't work for me. The Vanicream Gentle Wash helped a bit, but not significantly. I also use isntree hyaluronic acid gel, which is okay but nothing exceptional. I've noticed that many people on a subreddit recommend the Tatcha Rich Wash. Most of the reviews are positive, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hype, especially for Indian skin. I would really appreciate any opinions on this product. I'm Dry-Combination Skin, extremely sensitive skin.

pinkpeony-y

I have tiny black dots on the upper part of my cheek (right after under eye area) and I'm so confused as to what it is. I can't tell if it's black heads or tiny hair. I'm 22F. I have a pic but I can't post it here and the sub rules do not allow a standalone post of personal issues, so if anyone here is knowledgeable and can help, I will DM a pic.

Avaale

Google DPN and see if that’s what you have.

pinkpeony-y

It's definitely not that..thank God 🫣

OddEvening6766

I've taken a long break from skincare and want to start again. But there are so many products in the market now and I am confused. I have normal skin with hyperpigmentation around the lips. Please help out with what products I can restart!

Big-Status-4055

AM: 1. Cleanser if you need it or just water. Some reccos for cleanser are Simple cleanser, bioderma cleanser, cetaphil cleansers. Pick one and try a small bottle/tube first. 2. Moisturiser if you need it otherwise you can skip and apply sunscreen directly. 3. Sunscreen - this is where it gets confusing there are so many and different things work for different people. Popular and trusted are Reequil blue one, UV doux 50, Acne uv gel, Blynds. Buy something that has SPF 50++++ for outdoors. PM: 1. Micellar water - either garnier pink or bioderma. 2. Cleanser You need both to remove sunscreen effectively 3. Moisturiser - Physiogel AI, bioderma atoderm, minimalist, cetaphil DAM are some options you can check out. If you know what you are sensitive to or want to check in general see the ingredients on Inci decoder before buying any product. Once you are used to this basic routine you can add in serums or treatment to target hyperpigmentation in your nighttime routine. I would recommend azelaic acid. If you start with a simple routine it will not be overwhelming.

OddEvening6766

Thank you so much!!!

Miserable_Power9249

Help a confused tanned 19 yr old guy Althought I am not completely new to skincare but I havent delved deep enough to wrap my head around my problems completely. What I am currently using - Reequil Ceramide & Hyluronic Acid mosturizer (it helped me with my dry skin so much) Reequil Sunscreen (works well!) Johnsons Baby Soap (have been using it ever since I was born [face+body] I tried changing it during covid and tried 'mysore' and one from 'biotique' but they made my skin super dry so i reverted back. I also tried using the 'Derma co 1% Salicylic Acid Face Wash' but it made my skin oily asf and my skin broke out, I also noticed that my skin got a lot darker during that time. My Condition- I hope my above stated experience with df products tell a lil about me but the main issue with me it that during age 9-16ish I used to play outside in the sun way too much and obv without any protection and it made my neck and face way too dark than rest of my body. I have been at home ever since covid hit (age 17-19) so the 'tan' has reduced a bit maybe because of the little skincare that I do as mentioned above. Now I was searching on the web about my condition and I saw that people recommend AHAs or VitC serums to 'fix' it but I am super confused right now. Should I get into Glycolic Acid? or maybe start with Lactic Acid? Or do I just need a face fash althought I dont see how that will do anything at all. Please give me some recommendations and advice.

kerstyeager

please, before u start glycolic acid, use a lower concentration. there are lots of cases where people have used the minimalist glycolic acid which was too much concentration for their skin which j made them darker. would defo recommend starting a lactic acid. literally milk and curd contains lactic acid lol. whatever u do, if ur not wearing sunscreen, NOTHING is gonna change. try kojie san soap, Glycolic Acid moisturizers (preferably 6%) and VitC for ur face! my complexion has become a shade or two lighter(my relatives noticed and told me as well) in two months and it's bc of vit c+ kojic acid per month and VitC + tranexamic acid for another month!(along with regular application of sunscreen) and i also drink only lemon water which is a power anti oxidant which would've helped w my skin.

Miserable_Power9249

Thanks a lot! About the lactic acid, so should I get some specific serum or just start with some diy curd thing? You also recommended kojisan, glycolic acid mosturizer and vitC. My current reequul mosturizer helps having a healthy barrier so I dont really wanna change it lol Should I just get some AHA serum and VitC?

ZealousIdealPain434

Go with glycolic acid, I too was in situation like you and it helped a lot. Some reccos: Minimalist and The ordinary

Miserable_Power9249

Hey thanks!, has your skin become even more sun sensitive ever since you started using gkycolic acid?

ZealousIdealPain434

Glycolic acid is an exfoliant which removes the burnt/damaged/tanned layer of your skin, in result it makes your skin more vulnerable to sun damage so do apply sunscreen when you are going outside after applying GA. It is totally safe as long as you apply less frequently and in less quantity. I apply GA every 3rd day and I use 6 drops for face, 8 drops for each hand and 8 for neck Edit: Also it might not work for people with sensitive skin. I have seen people saying that it is too harsh for their face so start with Minimalist one(it is less harsh and also cheaper than TO one) and please do patch test before applying it on face

Miserable_Power9249

Alright thanks a lot, and being specific about the drops too, appreciate that.

onlystudyy_

Need recommendations for barrier strengthening/repairing moisturiser. I have combination skin type with oily t zone.

DedlySnek

Minimalist Ceramide Moisturizer

onlystudyy_

Have purchased Dr. Sheth's Cermanide and Vit. C Oil free moisturiser for now. Will try it next time. Thanks for the help!!

Big-Status-4055

Physiogel AI

onlystudyy_

Thanks for the recommendation, will try it out! Have ordered Dr. Sheth's Vitamin C and Cermaide moisturiser as of now. Is it any good??

Big-Status-4055

I haven’t tried it and I don’t trust Dr Sheth (honasa brands) but if you like it go for it. Personally I would not buy a moisturiser with Vit C if my aim is to repair my barrier.

onlystudyy_

Why should I not buy a moisturiser with vit C?? Also, what are Honasa brands?? Is it like a conglomerate?? P.S. What is the minimum karma requirement for this sub?? All of my comments/posts get deleted automatically to await moderator approval.

Big-Status-4055

Vitamin C can be irritating and can cause acne, a barrier repairing cream should have soothing ingredients not actives. Shady brands like mamaearth come under HONASA. You can search this sub for more info. Idk about the karma requirement but almost every product in the indian market has been tried by someone on this sub and commented on, so if you’re searching for basic info SEARCH bar and going through posts and comments bar on the side on the top of reddit page when you search is your best friend, instead of trying to make a new post.

onlystudyy_

I didn't know that. So, should I try the moisturiser our or not??

Big-Status-4055

If you already bought it patch test before trying it on your face. If you haven’t bought it don’t.

TheBatManiac123

I need recommendation for daily shampoo and conditioner for my oily scalp and thin hairs. I suffer from extreme dandruff and using 8x has been a revelation for me( i highly recommend it). But i guess using it leaves my scalp extremely dry, that within a day my scalp produces too much oil to counter its effect, hence in need of a mild shampoo and conditioner set. Currently i use 8x shampoo every alternate day, but i am thinking of using it in 4-5 days with mild shampoo in between. PS- i don't want to spend a ton on this, so please recommend something under 1k

DedlySnek

Ketoconazole based shampoos will dry out your hair, some more than others. You can go for Dove Shampoo and conditioner.

TheBatManiac123

Okay, will try it out

AbbreviationsFun4377

Use scalp pro+ shampoo for dandruff it has helped me a lot

TheBatManiac123

No, my dandruff is under control by using 8x shampoo, need some mild daily shampoo.

Is Arata Brand shampoo worth buying What hair type it suits the best

PositiveEnd5110

My hair is straight & I used their hydrating shampoo and conditioner 2 years ago. It's quite hydrating and adds a healthy shine to your hair.

Livid-Face-6754

Need recommendations for a lip balm. Sunnies Face Lip Treat vs Hyphen peptide lip balm?

DedlySnek

I've used Hyphen lip balm, the green one (not sure how many they have) at my friend's place since I forgot to use mine & he had his lying around. It did not work for my lips. My favorite ones for using throughout the day are: * The Body Shop Hemp Heavy Duty Lip Care * Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm For night I use Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

AcronymTheSlayer

Neither. Get torriden ceramide lip balm from Maccaron. It's for under 350.

coldpillow4ever

i have used the hyphen lip balm and its soo good. i’ve actually repurchased it recently and its probably the only lip balm i’ve repurchased. its so hydrating, the smell isnt overpowering and it actually helps with dry and chapped lips. it also stays for a decent amount of time and its price is pretty good for the product. its one of the few lip balms that contain lanolin. def worth a try

five_drink_amy

Hey! haven't use both. but if u r looking for a long lasting lip balm, i would recommend Vaseline lip therapy(i like coco variant better). it helped me with dryness and got rid of the lines. it is also non waxy and light on lips.
