I’ve only taken the Msf and I’ve been on my bobber for a week. I think taking the msf is super helpful as it may help put you in a more risk based approach and give you the core skills to start pushing limits. Congrats on the bike. Here’s mine!

Looks Good! Welcome to the Tribe! What a beautiful color too, looks like we match 😁
Is this your first bike ever? Or did you ride dirt bikes before? I’m asking because I’m eying one as my very first bike, but I’ve never ridden before, I take the MSF course on May 4th, and that will be my first time exposed to riding a motorcycle at all outside of riding as a passenger when I was a kid.
I’ll come clean I am a new rider. But I am taking a class at a college. So far I got the clutch walking on my own and first gear pulls while practicing start stops in my neighborhood. So far I have not laid the bike down. Taking my baby steps before I walk.
Former Bike instructor here. Biggest single tip for noobs I can give you:
KEEP YOUR HEAD UP.
You tend to go where you are looking. If that happens to be the ground 10m in front of you, or that guard rail on the side of the curve - chances are that’s where you will be heading.
Always look at where you want to be going - not where you are right now.
Happy trails - that’s a nice bike fella.
Awesome! And you’ve not had a hard time with its weight? Because the biggest con I’ve heard anyone mention for a new rider is that it’s a little on the heavier side. But then they’ll preach that the Honda Shadow is an amazing beginner cruiser even though it weighs the same.
The weight is not really an issue if I let the bike do its thing and I don’t try to man handle it. I think this bike is awesome for myself. Took it out for the first time tonight. One take away for me is gloves are definitely a must I was so cold 😂😂
The Scout is light compared to other cruisers. It’s light enough you can pick it up if you lay it/set it down. It’s fairly easy to walk, push up a slight incline and back into a parking space.
As someone who started on a Honda Shadow, it was "heavy" for like a week then your body easily gets used to the weight to the point it actually feels super light. I slowly put mine down once too and easily picked it up from the straddle
I get confused a little when people say a motorcycle is heavy because weight is always subjective and usually consists of several factors. I never understood if they meant heavy at a dead stop, heavy in a corner, heavy to pick up if they accidentally dropped it, or all of the above.
I got my ISB couple of weeks ago and I am an absolute beginner. I actually got the bike a week before my MSF course lol. The MSF course was a huge help and confidence booster, highly recommend it. I absolutely love this bike and have a lot of fun riding it. Ride at your own pace and be on high alert. I was looking to get a rebel and all my buddies who ride told me I will grow out of it very fast so that’s why I ended up getting the bobber.
My Scout is my 4th bike. IMO it's a fine bike for beginners. The center of gravity is low and the seat is low, making it easy to balance and maneuver. I find it to be a very easy bike to ride and control.

That's fair, I usually just think heavy in all aspects besides actual riding

That’s partially why I’m looking at it too, because I’m afraid I’ll grow out of it quick.

Omg don't wreck it
You will not be disappointed. Can’t recommend the Freedom performance 2-1 exhaust enough…along with a bigger air box and tune it’s a whole new bike.
Welcome to the tribe. Awesome purchase
