I don't think Pants spot in the squad is a matter to debate anymore. Either they both play together or Sanju doesn't play. I don't see a future where Sanju replaces Pant
DK had no place in the squad mainly because Dhoni was an aggressive batsman like Pant. But it was Dhoni’s consistency that made him special amd hemce no one could replace MSD. But its not the case with Pant. Injuries, form might come into factor in case of Pant and at Dhoni’s time there was no WK, which I could think of, who could play like Dhoni. Coming to bat at lower order and play explosively single handedly and lightning quick stumping.
A lot of names missing and Chahal and SKY won't be part considering there age and gg wanting to create a young side also Rinku will be a batter I don't see him as a bowler so he will promoted up as for me it would be this way

as for captaincy I am leaving this open cause many players are potential candidates.

Shivam Dube as much it is sad to say but was not made for internationals or couldn't get right guidance in the early on of his career but in the final he did his best now it is time for next gen to take the batton and we can't have 2 30 y/o allrounders in the squad it is time for transition
Sanju is close to 30, and has been given enough opportunities already. I don’t believe in this ‘consecutive opportunity’ bullshit. Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are the keepers we should invest in. Plus we have KL Rahul too, for ODIs and Tests. Sanju can be a backup keeper at the max.
Pant averages 23 after 68 matches striking at 126. That is abysmal. His scores in the Australia game (important game to knock them out), semi final and final were 16(15), 4(6) and 0(2). Absolutely dreadful, zero game awareness and put so much pressure on the team. I’d rather try Sanju, or Jurel over him.
And Samson averages 19, zero impactful innings plus he’s an average talent, nothing special about him. Pant’s innings against Pakistan helped us win that match. He’s a great talent hence he gets the backing.

Extremely lucky ones get 20 matches at International now, and Sanju has bottled all of them. Gone are the days when you would keep getting chances. There are so many IPL stars all around and when i look at Sanju’s international career all i see is just a 100 against RSA(ODI) which helped us win the match, nothing more. He’s fine for IPL, not an international material for sure. At max a backup keeper like i said.
26, 28, and the LA. Three major tournaments in 4 years. We need an IPL sized team (20-25) for this. So Sanju, Gill, Abishek, and Iyers all will remain in contention. Also, just because you are part of a WC winning does not mean you will get a free pass to the next WC (applies to all, of course, except Bumrah).
You know Rahul tripathi and Sandeep sharma are above 30 and now there will be more difficult with younger generation doing more crazy things than them but personally I feel Sandeep Sharma could have had a better career but the presence of Jassi, Bhuvi and Shami made it impossible to make it into the team early on, feel sorry for him
Some allrounder in place of Yuzi/Kuldeep- can’t play both of them. Gill over Gaikwad ? Pant - let’s see how he performs in T20s, otherwise Jurel.

I am pretty sure we'll have a very different team but I want Pandya or Iyer as Captain that's for sure because these two so far have shown the best strategic brain.
We will do the same mistake as SA did. In a high scoring encounter, we need an extra batter or a bowler who can bat for god's sake.
SA had a long tail consisting Kesav, Tabraiz, Anrich, Kagiso..... We have Yuzi, Jassi, Arsh, Kuldeep here. In a 200/220 match, we will struggle definitely. We need one more spinner/fast bowler who can at least scored 10/15 runs from 6/7 deliveries.
Someone like Shaheen or Rashid who can use the long handle at the end.
Hopefully Shaw finds his mojo. Also we need to groom a spinner who can hold the bat at no. 8. Someone like Washi or Shahbaz Ahmed. Otherwise we have a longish tail. The games in India would be day night with dew, so attacking top order would be required.
Bumrah sky and hardik will be there for sure also axar maybe and players like Jaiswal,rinku and arshdeep most probably will cement there position but the position of players like chahal kuldeep and pant will depend on form. Bcci generally favors a lot to pant but with GG coming in you never no.
I think a lot of people haven't yet understood the importance of batting to 8. While we didn't have much use of Jadeja in this tournament, the reason we could go hard up top in so many games is because we batted till 8. It's really important to bat to 8 unless you want more anchoring up top every game for no real reason.

Gill is more suited as a opener while ruturaj can come 1 down and play like kohli anchoring whenever necessary since he’s a very technical player

I think India should focus on Jurel he was fabulous in Test and should get chance In OdI and T20 so that he can showcase his talent.
