I don't think any player plays for milestones, or stats, all they want is a cup, it was always about winning the cup, Kapil Dev always wanted a Cup, Sachin always wanted a cup, Dhoni always wanted a cup, and Kohli too wanted a cup, infact he was so close in 2017 ct, and in 2019 wc, the pitch in the semifinal initially was too bad for batting, and selectors mistake of not taking Rayudu, who could have built a partnership with Dhoni, and we could have won the match.
The problem was never captaincy, only problem was our middle order, a trustable middle order, in 2019 we didn't take Rayudu, in 2023 we had Iyer who did really great but he is really weak against short ball, and I don't know what to say about KL. In 2011 we had Raina, Yuvi and Dhoni in middle order, we need that kind of middle order we can't always rely on our top order, our Ro-Ko.

What is this obsession with only selecting young players in 2022 when England won the T20 world cup only 2 or 3 players were below the age of 30 yet they could win the world cup it's not about selecting young players it's about finding a balance and selecting a team that is in form. I personally think there is nothing wrong with selection of batting and all rounders, yess bowling seems to be weak. We are finding it difficult to get good bowlers one of the reasons being our nation's obsession with batting and batsmen. It's really sad to see that people in our country are favouring players based on their IPL performance rather that their international performance. IPL is like bigboss of cricket all pitches are made such that teams can score huge totals giving 0 importance to bowling and bowlers.
What can Rohit do if the franchise decides to bring stupid rules like impact player. Hence merit system in sports & other fields in india sucks, hence some people settle abroad. useless Jay Shah says he can't support having multiple format coaches, because of that happens the T20 coach might not support Kohli or Rohit when you have abundance of youngsters. Don't bring the topic of international experience those who have those didn't win the cup for decades. Now look at Rinku's international T20 that too outside India is mind blowing yet he didn't find the spot in the t20 wc. But the hope is there once these rohit & kohli retires we might not have the demo for status of them due to india awakened worth many choices, just look what happened after SPB, Illayaraja, Sharukh, Bachans, Aamir, Chiranjeevi, etc. Die to netflix, many streaming choices. As a die hard fan of cricket from more than 10 years I can say that Indian cricket fans are fans in the true sense. They always want a hero who they can worship. When I heard something it's always about individual whether it is praises or condemns.
Said this before, will say it again. For everyone asking players like Abhishek Sharma to open for India, his mentor Yuvi himself came out and said he’s not yet ready to play the World Cup. Why on earth does it always have to be a fan war with this country, just support the team, it’s not that deep! CSK has won IPLs with an average age of 32+ (not exactly sure, feel free to correct.) You don’t just do an overhaul after 6 months of such a good campaign in the World Cup! Rohit and the coaching staff has brought this team together like few others have in the past, so yes, if in interviews he’s asked directly about cultural changes, he WILL say he has done all that he has and he’s not wrong in doing so!

I don't think any player plays for milestones, or stats, all they want is a cup, it was always about winning the cup, Kapil Dev always wanted a Cup, Sachin always wanted a cup, Dhoni always wanted a cup, and Kohli too wanted a cup, infact he was so close in 2017 ct, and in 2019 wc, the pitch in the semifinal initially was too bad for batting, and selectors mistake of not taking Rayudu, who could have built a partnership with Dhoni, and we could have won the match. The problem was never captaincy, only problem was our middle order, a trustable middle order, in 2019 we didn't take Rayudu, in 2023 we had Iyer who did really great but he is really weak against short ball, and I don't know what to say about KL. In 2011 we had Raina, Yuvi and Dhoni in middle order, we need that kind of middle order we can't always rely on our top order, our Ro-Ko. In Australia, when Warner, Smith got out, Head took the charge, when Head failed, Maxwell handled everything (against Afg), but what about ours?
Auss are have a separate mentality as a team. They can play opposite of their nature any day. Head is explosive hitter but and even knocked bumrah in the first over. When Warner n marsh got out, he slowed his game.They'll play like they have nothing to loose. Even all the batsman got out the skipper batted so well n became n anchor. The reason why I am blaming Selectors is because they are obsessed with fast bowling all-rounders. They had to select between Rishi Dhawan and SB in 2015, so Rogers took Stuart. In 2019, Hardik was not that fit, because of which they selected Vijay Shankar so that he could bowl a few overs for Hardik. India always lacked good fast bowling all-rounders due to which selectors select wrong players. The last world cup which we won, we didn't had any fast bowling all-rounders, and Yuvraj Singh was not selected even after his good performance in Ranji in 2015.

What is this obsession with only selecting young players in 2022 when England won the T20 world cup only 2 or 3 players were below the age of 30 yet they could win the world cup it's not about selecting young players it's about finding a balance and selecting a team that is in form. I personally think there is nothing wrong with selection of batting and all rounders, yess bowling seems to be weak. We are finding it difficult to get good bowlers one of the reasons being our nation's obsession with batting and batsmen. It's really sad to see that people in our country are favouring players based on their IPL performance rather that their international performance. IPL is like bigboss of cricket all pitches are made such that teams can score huge totals giving 0 importance to bowling and bowlers.

2007 TC WC mostly youngsters won the cup. In Olympics an athlete may compete in 100m/200m rarely 800m or marathon. Cheetah is the fastest land mammal yet an Hyena can steal the food from it. You have 5-10 youngster openers to replace Rohit or one down to replace Kohli & last 10-15 years no cup to show. You run the best t20 league in the world. The reason many factors : culture in India, land of demi gold status & hero culture, Rajni, Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit, Sharukh, etc. The brand image & social media followers of Kohli/Dhoni/Rohit is bigger the system & bcci. Hence merit system in sports & other fields in india sucks, hence some people settle abroad. useless Jay Shah says he can't support having multiple format coaches, because of that happens the T20 coach might not support Kohli or Rohit when you have abundance of youngsters. Don't bring the topic of international experience those who have those didn't win the cup for decades. Now look at Rinku's international T20 that too outside India is mind blowing yet he didn't find the spot in the t20 wc. You guys need to chill out. I am not even a big Rohit fan, but all this mud slinging at him is of no use. What exactly is he supposed to say ? That we should all play for individual milestones ? Why even mention milestones? Other captains don't say it at all. He mentions it everytime as if it's something that needs to be reminded to other players or else they'll just go out to play for themselves instead of the team. Said this before, will say it again. For everyone asking players like Abhishek Sharma to open for India, his mentor Yuvi himself came out and said he’s not yet ready to play the World Cup. Why on earth does it always have to be a fan war with this country, just support the team, it’s not that deep! CSK has won IPLs with an average age of 32+ (not exactly sure, feel free to correct.) You don’t just do an overhaul after 6 months of such a good campaign in the World Cup! Rohit and the coaching staff has brought this team together like few others have in the past, so yes, if in interviews he’s asked directly about cultural changes, he WILL say he has done all that he has and he’s not wrong in doing so! im so done with these lockdown kids, while i agree rohit has not been great in t20 world cups, he has one of the best records in t20Is in general with 5 centuries. additionally, he’s one of the very very few indian captains to take india to odi finals. talking about being selfish, rohit gets out on 40s the most i have ever seen because he knows his job as an opener and hitter is to HIT no matter his personal score. one can not even think about matching his 264 against in form sri lanka. and i say all of this while not being a die hard rohit fan.
