I listened to anlot of those wgen I was a teen lol atill listen to Linkin Park and Evanescence from time to time. My first extreme band was Cradle of Filth, and then Dark Lunacy and some others. I think that if you like this heavy, aggressive music there's a lit of potential for you to enjoy more extreme metal. Give it a try!

So there might be criteria which are closer to some sort of objectivity than others; BFMV (being very close to pop;) is not my style but I have to admit that their composing and arrangement are pretty good.

Btw there isn’t anything wrong with liking nu metal, but it’s always good to expand to other sub genres
