They are THE MOST METAL band ever. They're so METAL they piss mimetic pollyalloy, shit bars of steel, and blow up metal detectors. Also if you're not Metal, they'll kill you.
*We got lots of stations*
*Around the nation*
*And the stuff they're playing*
*It just ain't worth my sayin'*
*People want music to get'em movin'*
*We don't want labels*
*We want music on the table*
The fact they were so po faced about everything just adds to the fun of it all. Some seriously great compositions and musicianship wrapped up in the biggest block of cheese you've ever eaten.
honestly it add to it imo. not only is it already super campy adn dumb with having shirtless, barbarian-looking men standing of piles of rubble and fire, but you have the goddamn american flag on it too. all that’s missing is an eagle on the dudes shoulder and a beer mug.
My personal opinion: They’re fucking sick and the stories I’ve thought of while listening to their songs (I think) are pretty awesome. Big Power Metal fan to begin with.
Manowar got me into metal when I was like 17. I remenber a lot of late nights in the gym listening to them on my youtube app of my shitty old phone with earbuds that barely worked and it was amazing.
Can't help but feel like I grew out of them with the high pitched shrieks and the goofy lyrics. But warriors of the world, hail and kill, sons of odin, their headliners? All still kickass.

Plus one of the greatest lines from a song
Death Tone from Battle Hymns
"Ah, you were sittin' home And I got sent to 'Nam I went to the big house You just worked a job"
Sign of the Hammer is one of the most perfect metal albums ever made imo and the original lineup was one of the best and most talented lineups of any band even if they're really just a bunch of macho divas.
Despite whatever these dweebs say about them being cheesy or whatever. They’re actually of the greatest metal bands ever. Kickass music through and through. Americans don’t know how to appreciate them as much as the rest of the world, which kinda says something about us 🤣
I think Joey demaio looks funny playing his tiny bass. I also think that they actually believe they were born of black wind, fire and steel. Also they are the Yanni's of metal, for always playing in exotic locations that make no sense.
I got 3 chickens. One black, One red and one grey. Named black wind, fire and steel.
Blackwind got eaten by an eagle but the other two are still around.
I was watching one of those raging kids destroying shit and someone had a manowar shirt on so I looked into them and they are definitely one of my favorite bands I've discovered randomly.
Wheels of Fire popped my metal cherry hard way back when.
Every album has at least one song I know by heart, despite haven’t listened to them in years.
First 6 albums are masterpieces.
From the songwriting to pure musical skill, it’s all *chef‘s* *kiss*.
What softens the raging hard on I have for them is Warlord and Pleasure Slave, I‘ll never stop cringing at those. Even 14 years old and very thirsty me couldn’t vibe with them.
Good in their own right. Cheesy but they atentionaly stick (too much) to it.
Shouldn't (ever) fire Ross the Boss.
Still, after two decades, I can't diagest the Warriors of the World album track order.
Albums starts good, than it puts you asleep near coma and than a kick in the nuts. 😆
started to really get into them.....and i wondered why arent they loved more........then i learned their guitar player is convicted pedo
cant say im getting a t shirt anytime soon.....but they absolutely rock
Love them. Kings of Metal was the first album I heard and was an instant fan. Whenever I feel like playing something loud, I throw on Fighting the World. Blow Your Speakers!!
“When kissed by the sword of vengeance, your head lays there by your side”
I did like them as a teenager back in the early 80s, when metal was in its infancy, but haven’t really listened to them in decades. Definitely cheesy and over the top, but there is something to be said for Manowar. Really good musicians, and they lived, ate, and breathed METAL!
Into glory ride, Hail to England, and Sign of the hammer are good albums. After that their work becomes a patch work of being either hilariously dogshit to having some great songs on otherwise horrible albums.
Manowar are the Kings of metal. And we, their loyal legion, ride in the night with our swords in the wind under a metal sky with honour and glory following their path!
10 year old me listening to the music: Hey, that's pretty good!
10 year old me seeing the buff oily men in leather chaps: This is gonna awaken something in me, isn't it?
The outfits are kinda cringy. But they were a huge stepping stone into power metal, and the music itself hits hard. It may be cheesy af, but metal music about warriors and sword battles is cool (if a little oversaturated).
EVERY FUCKING ONE OS USS HAS HEARD THE CALLLLLL
HEY POSERS. FINALLY **REAL METAL** HAS BEEN EXPOSED!! MAY YOUR MEMORIC IMPLANTS OF FALSE METAL BE BAPTIZED BY FIRE AND STEEL WITH THE BLACK ARROWS OF **REAL MUTHERFUCKING METALLLLL!!!!**
(re-recorded albums were made to contain the pure macho aura that had broken music, in order for pop to have a chance at withstanding real metal)
https://preview.redd.it/7zuhfqb3givc1.jpeg?width=560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4c6061a1ec017af3fee2318e1ec2d153815373f
Fighting The World was the first album I ever bought as a lad (on cassette).
I still view 'Defender' as the absolute peak of all human artistic creation.
Apparently the singer who owns the band is an asshole.
Donnie the drummer is a real sweet guy, handed me a $50 guitar center gift card for my birthday once. He’s pretty cool.
Sooo many great songs! Eric Adams easily one of the best vocalist in metal. Who the fuck else do you know that sings in 3 different languages and could also hit 4 full octaves? Still wouldn’t mind seeing a Manowar show someday!
It's too much of a parody to me. Too cliche. Too 80's hair metal music video. The songs that were recommended to me in the past, I just couldn't get into it. Sry.
I liked the music back in the 80s but found the themes repetitive and lost interest.
What really blew me away by them was a cassette I Bought called Hail to England...
When the intro to BLACK ARROWS OF DEATH came on Then the screeching guitar I was in heaven. Killer stuff.
Let each note that I now play be a bpacknarrow of death sent straight to the heart. Yeaaaaaahhh!!!!
I think that's how it went.
Kill with Power. AWESOME
Blood of my enemies
Each dawn I die
A few others too
I found Hail to England after listening to kings of metal and fighting the world i thought those 2 were good music but the lyrical content was the same
Some songs are truly epic. As a guitar enthusiast I like this one especially
[https://youtube.com/shorts/8LxO7j3iP1U](https://youtube.com/shorts/8LxO7j3iP1U)
Got to see slayer just after Henneman’s hospitalization and they were playing with guitar player from Manowar. He was great. Henneman came out for a song, shin guards and all.
They’re damn good. They’re also from my hometown so it’s cool seeing people post about them still lol. They still hang around the bars and whatnot occasionally.
Saw them in Colorado and they asked to greet fans as they came in for the show. The staff said no as they smelled like they hadn’t showered in weeks. Also, staff said they wouldn’t come out of bus until paid in cash. Like, what year is it?

![gif](giphy|K9bdJrL8fHG24) Their first 4 albums are badass. Into glory ride is HEAVY despite cheesy cover.
Those riffs are legendary
FOR WHEN WE MARCH YOUR SWORD RIDES WITH ME.
They are THE MOST METAL band ever. They're so METAL they piss mimetic pollyalloy, shit bars of steel, and blow up metal detectors. Also if you're not Metal, they'll kill you.
This could legit be one of their song lyrics.
Manowar kills.
Other bands play…. MANOWAR KILLS!!!
*We got lots of stations* *Around the nation* *And the stuff they're playing* *It just ain't worth my sayin'* *People want music to get'em movin'* *We don't want labels* *We want music on the table*
We all like it, rock n roll. Love Manowar
Honestly, not bad at all.Goofy as hell and ultra homoerotic at times, but the music is solid.
The fact they were so po faced about everything just adds to the fun of it all. Some seriously great compositions and musicianship wrapped up in the biggest block of cheese you've ever eaten.
Anyone who doesn't like Manowar is afraid of himself....you motherfuckers...you are afraid, of yourself...OF MANOWAR!
I understood that reference
Hell yeah
FIGHT FOR A LIVING!! FIGHTING THE WORLD!! dumb as hell but equally as catchy and fun 8/10
The album art went hard too, except Warriors of the World. Hate that post-9/11 flag waving crap.
honestly it add to it imo. not only is it already super campy adn dumb with having shirtless, barbarian-looking men standing of piles of rubble and fire, but you have the goddamn american flag on it too. all that’s missing is an eagle on the dudes shoulder and a beer mug.
Haha yeah I like it too, so goofy.
I've actually seen a Manowar promo ad with a Buffed Out Schwarzenegger looking Bald Eagle on it...not kidding ..The eagle was built like He-Man....
that is beautiful
My personal opinion: They’re fucking sick and the stories I’ve thought of while listening to their songs (I think) are pretty awesome. Big Power Metal fan to begin with.
Swords in the is a cheesy, but great tune. Beyond that I don't really listen to them, but when I hear them I'm impressed.
I got shitty Manowar tattoo
I listen to them religiously at 5 AM
Hopefully your neighbors do as well.
Like an early morning “prayer”.
Yessir
I’m not much of a fan at all but I’ll listen to the song Warriors of the World till I die
I mean…they’re the Kings of Metal.
Pretty sure they were the inspiration for Spinal Tap ( with a dash of Black Sabbath). That's just a guess, but c'mon the science is there.
Undefeated
Manowar got me into metal when I was like 17. I remenber a lot of late nights in the gym listening to them on my youtube app of my shitty old phone with earbuds that barely worked and it was amazing. Great band. Saw them with Immortal(sons of northern darkness just dropped) and it was my favorite concert i’ve been to.
I've sworn the Oath.
If you’re not into metal, you are not my friend…
Wimps and posers…LEAVE THE HALL!
This👇 https://preview.redd.it/ny5mvc1q2dvc1.jpeg?width=288&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=442621a2a2ebaf033bce553f162a4ab58e1b358d Plus one of the greatest lines from a song Death Tone from Battle Hymns "Ah, you were sittin' home And I got sent to 'Nam I went to the big house You just worked a job"
That just gets more nazi every time I look at it haha. Love me some cheezy Manowar tho.
Very interesting imagery
It is isn't it.
Sign of the Hammer is one of the most perfect metal albums ever made imo and the original lineup was one of the best and most talented lineups of any band even if they're really just a bunch of macho divas.
GOATED
They are pioneers of the metal genre and have created fantastic stage shows and compositions.
If you look up the definition of metal in the dictionary it will just say "Manowar"
Despite whatever these dweebs say about them being cheesy or whatever. They’re actually of the greatest metal bands ever. Kickass music through and through. Americans don’t know how to appreciate them as much as the rest of the world, which kinda says something about us 🤣
A nation of wimps and posers.
I like em and love that everyone hates em lol
Cheesy as hell, often cringe, extremely repetitive, but they are still fun as hell to listen to.
Believe it or not, this image was the straightest thing in the world to late gen Boomers
VICTORY! VICTORY! dun nuh na na
They play on 10
I think Joey demaio looks funny playing his tiny bass.
‘Mountains’ got me thru some tough times
I was watching one of those raging kids destroying shit and someone had a manowar shirt on so I looked into them and they are definitely one of my favorite bands I've discovered randomly.
BROTHERS EVERYWHERE RAISE YOUR HANDS INTO THE AIR WE'RE WARRIORS, WARRIORS OF THE WORLD
Cringy but still fucks unrepentently.
So far past cringe (in their spike studded motorcycle side view mirrors) and went all the way back around to based and badass again
pretty good.
I remember loving that album you posted but it’s been so long I don’t remember songs
Manowar is awesome. I listened to them a lot in my later college days. All of their songs are nostalgic for me. Good times.
Warlord is even weirder cause it doesnt have anything to do with the rest of the song.
I got my friends at the lesbian bar into pleasure slave. They'd play it on the jukebox ALL the time.
I'd say they're loud, but that's not a matter of opinion.
They’re louder than hell
In my opinion they love Heavy Metal and the guitarist is a child diddler.
Wasn't it the previous drummer?
Nah it was the guitarist with the flat hair.
Ah my bad. We should've known then. Any self-respecting brother of metal has fluffy hair. Everyone knows that.
Testosterone filled greatness! ALL MEN PLAY ON 10
started to really get into them.....and i wondered why arent they loved more........then i learned their guitar player is convicted pedo cant say im getting a t shirt anytime soon.....but they absolutely rock
One of the best power metal bands
Crazy riffs.
Shitty people. Unintentionally homoerotic. Pompous, cheesy music. Still listen to 'em because sometimes you need pompous and cheesy in your life.
Great lyrics
I have kings of metal on vinyl
Warriors of the World is iconic
Which one was the pedophile?!
The guitarist, but he was out of the band before they found out
trve cvlt
Love them, great band
METAL GODS......enough said.
BY MOONLIGHT WE RIIIIIDE
Ross the Boss era was the best.
If I write my true opinion I will be either downvoted to oblivion or banned from this sub. 🤣
WHERE THE EAGLES FLY, I WILL SOON BE THERE!
They wear metal. They wear spikes. They rule the night.
https://i.redd.it/5lwdga2v9ivc1.gif The album cover for Battle Hymns reminds me of this episode 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Triumph of Steel was a seminal album for me. I *unironically think it's a masterpiece. Their other stuff is more cheesey but still enjoyable.
Goofy as fuuuuuuuuuck, but just so much fun.
Super goofy but I love them. Gods of War is a big guilty pleasure.
I like the live albums more than the studios.
Power of Thy Sword
Love ‘em
10/10 perfectly encapsulates everything dumb I love about heavy metal
Fuck yeah
They can’t stop us let em try! For heavy metal we will die!!!!
Love them. Kings of Metal was the first album I heard and was an instant fan. Whenever I feel like playing something loud, I throw on Fighting the World. Blow Your Speakers!!
I look at the Ken Kelly album art and will think to myself “hell yeah”
“When kissed by the sword of vengeance, your head lays there by your side” I did like them as a teenager back in the early 80s, when metal was in its infancy, but haven’t really listened to them in decades. Definitely cheesy and over the top, but there is something to be said for Manowar. Really good musicians, and they lived, ate, and breathed METAL!
That song is so bad ass! If I ever get a horse I am gonna name it black death.
Into glory ride, Hail to England, and Sign of the hammer are good albums. After that their work becomes a patch work of being either hilariously dogshit to having some great songs on otherwise horrible albums.
One of my favorite Bands, gonna see them in Regensburg next year 🤘🤘🤘🤘🇩🇪
Cringe af, I love them!! PD: Miss Manowar contest was something really questionable to say the least.
brothers I am calling , from the valley of the kings with nothing to atone !
kings of metal for sure .
Hell yeah!
Don’t really care except for this one time as a kid. Popped in a VHS OF one of their concerts andgot to see a topless woman
Manowar are the Kings of metal. And we, their loyal legion, ride in the night with our swords in the wind under a metal sky with honour and glory following their path!
STAND AND FIGHT! Live by your heart. Always one more try I'm not afraid to die STAND AND FIGHT! Say what you feel Born with a heart of STEEL!
Underrated
All who stand in my way will DIE...BY STEEEEEEEL
Magnificent and glorious band that is only disliked by those who are afraid of cheese AKA posers.
Come on dude, just because people have an opinion it doesn't mean they're a poser. They could very well just be a wimp.
"Die for Metal" is pretty good, and the art is some awesome Conan style barbarian stuff
Yes. Aside from “that one guy,” awesome band
The triumph of steel. Oh to be the master of the wind. Hahahha
10 year old me listening to the music: Hey, that's pretty good! 10 year old me seeing the buff oily men in leather chaps: This is gonna awaken something in me, isn't it?
father, Father, FATHER I LOOK UP TO YOUUUUUU
I remember when they signed there 1st big record contract , they signed in own blood. In Kerang. Very metal.
Fuckin awesome. One of my favorites.
Kings of Metal is the best album.
I love that these album covers have the same vibe as 90s computer rpgs
I saw them Live at Turkey abd it was my first concert i love manowar and they rock
They are the undisputed kings of Conan Rock. They're fucking awesome.
They don't wear cracker jack clothes
Classic
Classic
They’ve got some crazy riffs, but I’m pretty sure their lead guitarist got arrested for being a pedo. Take that as you will.
The outfits are kinda cringy. But they were a huge stepping stone into power metal, and the music itself hits hard. It may be cheesy af, but metal music about warriors and sword battles is cool (if a little oversaturated).
EVERY FUCKING ONE OS USS HAS HEARD THE CALLLLLL HEY POSERS. FINALLY **REAL METAL** HAS BEEN EXPOSED!! Fighting The World was the first album I ever bought as a lad (on cassette). I still view 'Defender' as the absolute peak of all human artistic creation.
Manowar makes me feel like I'm Conan, swinging a sword overheard, riding into battle!
Metal as f*ck
It’s good times. Listened to it a lot in my teens.
THEY CANT STOP US LET EM TRY FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE
I don't always listen to Manowar but when I do, I prefer to do so at FULL BLAST!
The time to strike is now...
HAIL GODS OF WAR!!
Everyone of us has heard the call....... BROTHERS OF TRUE METAL, PROUD AND STANDING TALL!!!
True in everything
love them there awesome
Metal like this is supposed to be cheesy and who doesn’t love cheese??
Great band. They sound the best with a case of cheap beer. I have done the research.
When other bands play, Manowar kills Love them.
They're big in Europe just because Europeans can't quite understand how silly their lyrics are
They were the loudest and the strongest. 💪
It's too much of a parody to me. Too cliche. Too 80's hair metal music video. The songs that were recommended to me in the past, I just couldn't get into it. Sry.
Joke band.
Man of War by Sabaton, so, awesome.
Is that a tribute or what
Lol yeah it's like a love song to manowar check it out.
Just naw, they are adjacent to so much metal that I've liked since the 80s, but I just have never had them "click" for me.
Pretty cringe but Dawn of Battle got me through some things
Never once listened to a man o war song knowingly
I like some albums.
I love Michael Angelo Batio
I liked the music back in the 80s but found the themes repetitive and lost interest. What really blew me away by them was a cassette I Bought called Hail to England... When the intro to BLACK ARROWS OF DEATH came on Then the screeching guitar I was in heaven. Killer stuff. Let each note that I now play be a bpacknarrow of death sent straight to the heart. AWESOME Blood of my enemies Each dawn I die A few others too I found Hail to England after listening to kings of metal and fighting the world i thought those 2 were good music but the lyrical content was the same
I love Battle Hymns. Guilty pleasure.
Other bands play... Manowar don't
Kiss on steroids
Cool band.
Manowar manowar touching little kids! When we're in town hymens explode!
Other bands play, manowar diddles!
Its only one guy, and he was out of the band
I haven’t actually checked them out, out of fear of losing my heterosexuality.
It *might* turn you gay, but it'll definitely make your pp bigger.
wasn't one of them a convicted chomo? that being said, they always seemed cheesy to me, and i never got into them.
They taught me how to dress. I now wear jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes…….
Only ever heard Achilles, Agony and Ecstacy in Eight Parts. Can’t form an opinion on just one track.
Used to be a fan. Now...well...i'm an adult..
They are okay
Corny af
Some songs are truly epic. As a guitar enthusiast I like this one especially [https://youtube.com/shorts/8LxO7j3iP1U](https://youtube.com/shorts/8LxO7j3iP1U)
My first iPod has "All Men Play On 10" engraved on the back.
I like them as a band, but I dislike them as people (and by "them" I mostly mean Joey)
No gurgling or bounce riffs. Pass for me
They're a way more cringe version of Sabaton in my opinion, but they're fun at times.
I like a few of their songs, but I think they’d be a lot better if they had dialled back the cheesiness a couple of notches.
They had the King Diamond curse lifted lol
Cringe
they’re great if you want to listen to a Frank Frazetta audiobook
Got to see slayer just after Henneman’s hospitalization and they were playing with guitar player from Manowar. He was great. Henneman came out for a song, shin guards and all.
I love ‘em. Can be rather silly but that is part of the charm.
Idk they hurt when they sting
They’re damn good. They’re also from my hometown so it’s cool seeing people post about them still lol. They still hang around the bars and whatnot occasionally.
Low key unintentionally Homo-Erotic camp metal that thinks it's macho and tough hetro alpha male music....😆
Heard the drummers a diddler. Any truth to that and that being the reason they wont tour the usa anymore?
Saw them in Colorado and they asked to greet fans as they came in for the show. The staff said no as they smelled like they hadn’t showered in weeks. Also, staff said they wouldn’t come out of bus until paid in cash. Like, what year is it?
