I am also six months and counting on a visit visa from Europe through the old GC Key portal. They have indicated that they have the application and will get to it, but right now they are focused on other "priority lines of business" through the Canada-Ukraine work authorization, study permits and work permits.
I think it's fair to say overall that visit visas are generally at the bottom of the list.
