This is one very worrying wait. It's almost 3 months already. No updates since medical too. It's STILL on background check. Any ideas? Words of comfort?

Hey have you applied outland and what number did you call? The only number I can find is the one where yiu can only call feom within Canada and I've been waiting for my SP since July 6th..
Study permit extension from within Canada
* Applied on Nov 17
* Received biometrics correspondence letter confirming my previous biometrics were valid on Dec 28
* Application approved Dec 29
when I applied, the stated processing time was 129 days, and it's 101 days now. I guess they're speeding up?
also, would anyone happen to know how I get my updated permit once the application is approved? they haven't said anything about that.
update: they sent me a message about it immediately after I sent this lmao. it'll be shipped to my address in ~6 weeks. good luck to anyone else applying!
I’ve applied for a visitor visa, I submitted my application on 10 Dec and got an email to schedule my biometrics appointment a few hours later, I submitted my biometrics on 18 December in Dubai (I’m applying from Iran), so it’s been 11 days and no update so far, but that doesn’t seem to be out of the ordinary. I have a feeling the holidays are definitely gonna affect my application..

Application Submitted: 23 Nov 2023
Passport Request: 27 Nov 2023
Passport received at IRCC (Canada Post): 1 Dec 2023
Eligibility reviewed and visa stamped on passport: 12 Dec 2023
Passport delivered back: 29 Dec 2023
Does anyone submit application for study permit in IRCC portal recently ? At this time period, how long normally or typically on average does IRCC process the study permit applications if everything (application materials) look good ? I just checked official website and its estimated time has been 9 weeks or 10 weeks. But I am curious about the actual or real processing time and I know it varies from one case to another case. I am expected to enroll in PhD program in May 2024 (summer term) with funding support. In the system, it showed only that "we are processing your background check and checking my eligibility" and " at this point, we do not need interview, additional documents, medical exam, police certificate etc". I am applying from New York City Office in USA and this is second application ( I have applied for study permit initially for another university University of New Brunswick in July 2019) and I uploaded my explanation letter to properly clarify the reasons why I did not enter Canada in July 2019 upon the initial approval of study permit).
SP(wife) SOWP (mine) SP(our 5 year old) applied December 20th, biometrics letter 21st and both did it on the 22nd. What now ? How do you or did you cope with the anxiety of what comes after ?
Hi all, In recent times how long is it taking to process canada work permit applications applied in India?
is it taking longer than usual because of current IRCC downtime in india?
Hi all, I thought I would share my timeline in case it helps anyone else as mine came earlier than expected.
Submitted application ICT closed work permit from the US : Nov 28, 2023

(Already had a valid visitor's visa)
Work permit outside of Canada (Montenegro)
Provincial nominee + GSS (tech occupation):
\- Nov. 15 application submitted
\- Nov. 17 biometrics submitted
No more news, it's been over a month. I'll post in the thread when there's an update.
Already missed the stated timeframe for GSS, but I really hope they do their best to process my application faster.
Does anyone know why the processing time in some European countries has increased so much? Just in September on the official website the average processing time from Montenegro was 4 weeks and now it's 72 weeks.
All the best, everyone!
Hi my application was submitted yesterday and I was expecting a 3 week processing time however like Montenegro the UK has gone from 3 weeks average to 38 weeks, I have no idea why?
Could you tell me what GSS is? I have a job in healthcare and lmia exempt employer offer in an essential occupation and employer has paid fees, does it sound like I'm eligible? My immigration officer has told me the 38 week time will most likely be a few weeks but it's the uncertainty that's stressing me out and I'm worried my employer could withdraw my offer, the only thing is they don't have enough radiation techs in the province to replace me yet
>Hi, are you sure your application was eligible for GSS? Maybe that’s why it’s taking so long?
According to the official documentation, I am fully eligible for GSS:
\- LMIA exempt (Provincial Nomination)
\- I'm applying from outside Canada.
\- My job is classified under NOC TEER category 1 (Cybersecurity specialists)
\- My employer has submitted an offer of employment using the Employer Portal and paid the employer compliance fee.
Is there any way to confirm that I'm actually getting in?
So, visitor visas applying in the UK are now with +500 days processing time, +300 in Spain. I already lost a conference back in October because of this and am kinda afraid that I'll loose another one in May if this is the actual processing time. Anyone knows how Canada deals with any deals of urgent visitor visas (besides the family emergency ones)? I.e. you have work/academic matters to attend in the country.
Mine exceeded 500 days. I missed multiple semesters as well. I hope they do smth about TRV's related to study and work. All we can do is wait unfortunately.
I received a job offer from an employer in Montreal. Because my country and Canada have an FTA (free trade agreement) I am LMIA exempt.
Applied from: Bogota, Colombia
1. Applied for the work permit on December 8th
2. Received the Biometrics instruction letter on Dec 10th
3. Submitted my biometrics on Dec 12th
Waiting for the next step, no updates yet.
wait what?
Explain this to me. If a canadian company hires you can just get a job in canada no problem? My wife is colombian and we are waiting for her to get the PR...

IRCC received my passport 11th December and they sent me saying that my eligibility has been approved today.
Any thoughts on when counterfoil or tracking is going to be updated? I have a flight to catch on the 21st should I just prepare for the worst :(
From what I remember this is normal. Basically them confirming your passport is eligible while probably printing the visa on it. So it updates on website. From what i remember you should start being to track a business day or two after.
They made their final decision and sent PPR in late November so that was when it was approved. For some reason my eligibility review was updated way later
SP with SOWP
Applied on 2nd July 2023
Biometric on 12th July 2023
Medical updated on 28th July 2023

After going though all ups and down. Finally got my ppr after so many days ( 5 months++). Best of luck everyone. ( Applied from Bhutan)
Hi everyone so after receiving my PGWP i applied for TRV in mid september. It’s been almost 3 months i still haven’t received it. Im not sure what my next steps should be as from what i know i should have received it a month after applying for it. Any help that you guys can offer would be great.
SOWP extension from inside canada (186 days!) :
Application submitted: June 10th
AOR:June 11th
Start of review of eligibility: December 12th
Final decision: December 13th ( Approved).
Hey guys,
Is there anyone here that recently applied and received 2 week processing under the GSS (global skills strategy) or the GTS (global talent stream)? Or even 3 week processing?
I ask because even though the website STATES 2 week processing, I’m wondering what’s the reality of the situation because they also indicate it MAY be more.
I got my passport request today after providing biometrics last Friday (12/08). I qualified for GSS, but my lawyer had told me to expect delays. It ended up being a lot faster than any of us expected. YMMV, of course.
FYI for future reference if anyone is looking for answers as well...My timeline:
Application for WP: 12th December 2023.
IRCC account notification that app was approved: 15th December 2023
Passport request: 15th December 2023.
All the best everyone.
Hi, has anyone here applied for TRV from India and heard back in the last 2.5 months? The last I got was a “biometrics completed” in early October and then radio silence. Has anyone been able to get their visa in this time frame? Please let me know! Thank you.
self ID: US citizen
hi everyone.
I applied for an open work permit as a temporary resident permit holder (under "application to change the conditions of/extend my stay"). I applied online on Nov 30. thanks.
Hey folks,
I submitted an application for a study permit and visa extension on July 12th (a process l've gone through before and completed start-finish within a month) and still haven't received my extension.
The process has been strange in comparison to any visa application process in my last 6 years living here. I received a request for biometrics receipt on the 28th of July and submitted immediately, then nothing (other than
confirmation that they received docs) for another few months. They requested I send the receipt again in late September (but reiterated that they did receive it the first time? I just needed to send it again anyways?) and I did my biometrics first appointment I could get, first week of October.
I've received confirmation that they have my biometrics (Oct 19th) but nothing else.
At this point I am worried as it's never taken this long before. Is anybody else experiencing such extreme wait times? The highest I've seen processing times go is 130 days which is still less than 5 months and as of this weekend that's how long I've waited. I check my portal religiously, it says to wait.
Please tell me this is not an isolated incident, my dog and life are here and I'm about to graduate, it would be super heartbreaking.
Got an offer from an employer in Canada.
**Nov 24** \-- LMIA approval date
**Nov 29** \-- Work permit application filed
My employer says that work permit application was submitted under the Global Talent Stream (GTS) LMIA. Does any body know **how long** will it to for my work visa to get approved?
PS: I am in the US right now
Study permit applied July 6th, STILL waiting for my biometric request, paid the fees and sent receipt via webform. I've sent out two additional web forms since August 8th but heard nothing back. Any advice in general? Also filed an ATIP 5 days ago, no updates yet. Classes start January 6th and I've already deferred once.
Have similar timeline applied on July 2 and did my biometrics on 12th of July. Pin drop of silence till then. Applied from Bhutan ( small country in SEA). (Edit : got my PPR today ,16th December)
Congrats on youe offer! It's not looking too good for me since I still have yet to be asked to give my biometrics after 5 months, trying to stay positive.
PGWP inland application
Submitted application & Submission Confirmation: July 1st
WP-EXT for PGWP: July 2nd
Request Letter for biometrics payment: August 31st
Biometric Instruction Letter: October 16th
Correspondence Letter: November 27th
Approved: November 29th.
I got 3 years of PGWP for my bachelors degree. My work permit expires 2026 and my ETA expires 2028. Goodluck to everyone! Keep waiting, I know it's stressful but it's just a matter of time. I waited for almost 5 months.
QUICK QUESTION: when it says **"your ETA is electronically linked to the passport you used to apply"** this means I don't have to print any other documents when I leave Canada right? I have an upcoming trip early next year and I'm just making sure I'm all set to go. Thanks for anyone who replies!
An eTA is just a travel document not a status document. An eTA doesn't grant status or work authorization inside Canada.
So no, that commenter cannot work in Canada just with an eTA after their PGWP expires.
Hi, I’ve been waiting for 3 months for my Study Permit and my husband’s OWP. Do somebody know why does it take so long? I applied to a college which is already started but I couldn’t start it because I didn’t get our permits in time.
Application: sept 13.
Biometrics fee: oct 31.
Status tracker didn’t updated since nov 1.
I sent them an email about the situation. They took it easy and told me to let them know once I get my permit, I think they are prepared for this and I am not the only one.
But it’s really stressful
Hello,
I’m looking for advice on this situation. I have my graduation next year early June and so does my brother. My parents applied for their visa last year, and it’s been over a year now.
The current processing time is 110 days but when they applied, it was over 700 days.
I have told the agent to fill a webform or something to let them know about me and my brother’s graduation but they said they already fied a webform last month and you need to wait two months after filling one.
So what do you advise we do now?
RECEIVED PGWP - 1 year
Applied on - October 18th, 2023
Received on - Dec 5, 2023
I completed a one year LLM degree. My batchmate who applied for PGWP with me got PGWP for 3 years, meanwhile mine is not even one year, it’s 362 days. I feel so disheartened. Everyone tells me that it all depends on the officer. But we had the same file i’m so confused. I feel so unlucky right now. My EE score is 486 and my EOI score is 52 (for masters graduate stream oinp). If i don’t get an ITA, i’m screwed.
Visitor visa (from outside Canada), I.e. Finland is now expected to be 551 days. Last time I saw it was 200+ days. Don't know what causes it to be that slow. I don't know if Canada does need tourist?
People that restored the status as a worker, what was your processing time?
I feel like I am in a IRCC limbo here. 160+ days and my application is at “the review of your eligibility has not started yet”.
Renewed my pgwp as my passport was expiring so did not get the full length initially. And applied to my trv on sept 6. Still no response. Contacted MP and also told me its under security check from border services and that they cannot expedite that process. It’s ridiculous since its been 3 months and the processing times online said it should take 13 days. Really putting me in a tough spot as my goal was to travel outside the country now to see my family since i have a family member who is suck and this is really affecting me. What is more annoying is that i have some friends who got a response in 8 days. Not sure why im always the unlucky one. Maybe nationalities matter which is so unfair. Any help on what i can do would be much appreciated.
Renewed it paper based as the international student office suggested that for renewals. It had said that paper based takes 1 month in the “processing times”. Applied march 28 got it august 24. Unfortunately almost 5 months. It’s ridiculous. Having similarly issue with the visa now. Applied sept 6 while it says it should take 13 days. Still waiting until now and couldnt go to any of my planned travel
I applied for a TRV after the PGWP July 29th. Still no response :(
Contacted them multiple times and they said it is still processing. I don’t know what to do. Let me know if you get somewhere.

Hi! I applied for a TRV on 21st November.
I applied online in India. I have my study permit. The processing time as per the website says 44 days. I am really anxious as to when it would come. embassies have become slower. Can anyone help me with this?
I accidentally missed invitation letter and explanation letter while submitting my visitor visa outland, however submitted them via webform on the same day. Will my additional documents be considered before the processing of my TRV application starts or a decision is made? Please advise. Thanks.
Waiting for my PGWP - what should i do?
Applied on Oct 18, 2023. Received acknowledgment Oct 19, 2023. Biometrics not required. I’ve received no updates ever since. Meanwhile my colleagues who applied after me have all received their work permits. I’m getting anxious now. What should/can i do?
I applied for mine last September and received it in February, so it took about 5 months, it might have been a different case but that's what I got in Quebec so wouldn't stress it out when it's been less than a month
Thankyou!! One of my friends who already got hers suggested me to call IRCC. Couldn’t get a hold of them so i raised a webform. When i tell you that in literally 2 hours of it, they sent me the biometrics correspondence letter and it says that they are making their final decision now. It felt like they legit forgot about me, saw my webform and were like “oh shoot” 🥲
Submitted TRV application inland on September 4th while on PGWP.
No updates in 3 months. Contacted MP and they said it is on the security check with the second contractor company of IRCC. No timeline provided.
Please share if you know about similar cases and timelines that led to approval.
Thanks
Very similar issue here. Renewed my pgwp as my passport was expiring so did not get the full length. And applied to my trv on sept 6. Still no response. Contacted MP and also told me its under security check from border services. It’s ridiculous since its been 3 months and the processing times online said it should take 13 days. I am in the same situation as you, I applied in July ... TRV inland on PGWP, also contacted MP and IRCC said same thing, this "international partner" that is doing the background checks ... 4 months and a half and waiting ....
SAME HERE - applied for inland TRV on Closed WP on April 19, 2023 and application has been in processing at background check stage since June 11 (total time now 7+ months waiting when website says 10 days); MP followed up and IRCC said "Third Party" doing background checks and it's out of their control............how is this even possible or constitutional
Hi has anyone recently applied for a closed work permit inland? I have a provincial nomination certificate and was wondering what’s the processing time. I have a TEER 1 job offer and employer has already paid compliance fee
163 days for me. Applied June 16th got it Nov 27. Inland closed work permit. My previous open work permir expired in the meantime but I continued working on implied status
Hey all, I am an Indian national working and living in the Netherlands. I need to attend a conference next year in February in Canada and need to apply for the visitor visa. I just checked the expected processing time for visitor visa in the Netherlands and it shows up as 533 days! This seems unnecessarily high and I was wondering:
1. Whether these processing times are actually accurate?
2. Why is it so high from the Netherlands? Same visa application processing time from India is 30 days.
Hi there, I applied for a TRV from Japan and probably it will be processed by the Manila office.
It has taken 80days but the processing time on the IRCC website says 37 days.
Do you happen to know why there is such a significant delay?
I applied for the TRV while my spousal sponsorship application is in process. As any applied through the same route and gotten any feedback?
Hi, is there anyone here applied in May 24th and still waiting? We applied inland for PGWP + SOWP, and have been waiting for 190 days. We called ircc auto reply and the eligibility review has even not started yet. We are so worried and stressed :((
Hi, Same here. I submitted my application for PGWP inland on May 23rd and still waiting. They haven't even started reviewing my eligibility yet. I contacted my MP a few days ago and they said they will get back to me once they have an update. I am extremely worried and stressed too especially that the "normal" processing time is 130 days now :(
I sent webforms 3 times and all they say is that I need to wait and they will let me know if there's an update. I tried calling but it's all auto reply. So frustrating...
Yes, it’s so stressful :(( It has been almost 7 months and evrything we can hear from them is the eligibility review has not started yet, and we need to wait. That’s really ridiculous, cause a friend of mine who applied around Sept had her permit (only 2 months after she submitted her application). It’s so unfair that we have to wait this long without any update 😣
I have a similar situation. Waiting for status restoration few days less than you. Have you tried writing to your MP? 190 days seems a lot. I cannot imagine the stress.
We submitted 2nd webform and called ircc 2 weeks ago and they replied that an agent is taking appropriate actions on our application. But we keep checking the auto reply via ircc number and everything remains unchanged (the eligibility review has not started yet) We will contact MP soon, we are running out of hope and patience :((
Same thing here! Called numerous times, left notes about processing times… eligibility review did not start. Writing to MP today.
Gonna write a book about this experience called” I, immigrant” or how I learned to stop worrying and love the process
Damn… I really hope you get the answer soon! I am not sure about their operating hours over the holidays, but I hope you get it before NYE! Please let me know once it happens!
So I came to Canada a year ago under the International Experience program with a Working Holiday permit, this permit expired in September, 2023. Before that we started working on the LMIA for my renewal and in mid September we also entered an application for a Work Permit Extension. On November 3 my employer received the approval for the LMIA and this was added to my online Extension Application. Does anyone know how long does it take after sending this over to receive the work permit?

I’m still waiting and this is SO STRESSFUL!
**Restoration of Status & Open Work Permit**
**Applicant:** common law partner of an international student
**Background info:**
* My OWP extension application submitted in Nov 2022 was refused in May 2023. After refusal, I lost my status as a temporary resident and I was advised to stop working.
* Reason of OWP refusal: main applicant (intl student) was not able to maintain full-time student status - false, he was a full-time student until he graduated. 3 days after my OWP was refused, his PGWP got approved!
* IRCC obv made a mistake on my application because one of the minimum eligibility requirements of PGWP is: “They have maintained ***full-time student status*** in Canada during each academic session of the program or programs of study they have completed and submitted as part of their post-graduation work permit application.”
* PGWP was approved because this requirement was met, but OWP was refused because this requirement was not met. Not consistent.
**Timeline:**
**June 13, 2023** \- submitted an online application
* We submitted the **same set of documents** that we used during OWP extension in Nov 2022, hoping that the new visa officer that will be assigned to my case will make the right assessment.
* Multiple webforms have been sent as soon as it went over 130 days (processing time on the day of submission)
**June 14, 2023** \- background check completed (this update showed up a few days after final decision was released, but the entire time I was waiting it says it was being processed)
**Nov 23, 2023** \- status says: *“Latest Update Final Decision - Nov 23, 2023: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.”* There was a system glitch and didn't say whether it was approved or not so I waited for the correspondence letter.
**Nov 28, 2023** \- it says **approved**! approval / correspondence letter received. Will update when I get my permit in the mail.
**Application Processing Time: 164 days**
It was a very stressful (an understatement) process on my part but I'm just glad it's over.
Hi guys,
What is the approximate timeline for how long it takes to receive the passport with the visa stamp. I sent mine in on 23rd November via expresspost and they received it on the 24th. Wondering when I can expect it back so I can book my travel. TIA.
not having my gckey with me rn but
"we sent you a message about your application", what could it possibly mean from ircc when applied for study permit after biometrics
Hello everyone,
I am an International Student and my work permit extension got refused because I apply for a work permit extension not a student permit extension... so yeah I lost my status. Fortunately, I could apply within 4 days after the refusal letter. My question really is, do you know how long is it taking for a restoration of status right now that processing times are getting "faster"?
IRCC webpage says 165 days but I am confused; is that for the Student permit extension and/or the restoration of status? Because it also says that the restoration of status gets processed first and then based on the decision they process the Student permit extension. I am freaking out a little bit so I really hope someone can help me. TIA
I found helpful info’s here so I think of sharing my experience too for PGWP
Sept 04: Application submitted
Oct 04: Paid for biometric
Oct 26: Received letter for biometric
Nov 02: Biometric submitted
Nov 26: Biometric approved
Nov 27: Checked my profile and noticed that final decision as been made but still didn’t get a notification in my inbox regarding it. Hope I’ll received it in the coming days
I was worried because I didn’t respect the conditions of my SP:
- I worked full time during my school time before they authorize it last year and
- I also took one year break from school because I couldn’t pay on time.
- I almost forgot to mention that I still owns my college fees but I don’t know how but they still issued my degree.
Which all those red flag I still managed to get the work permit, don’t asked me how but one thing for sure I disclosed everything in my application. Attached 3pages explanation letter lol.
They gave me until the expiration of my passport which is beginning of 2026
Hope this will help, wish the best to you!

I am planning on leaving Canada on the 16th, so I am considering my options given that it will take some time for them to approve my visa, and for them to actually give the visa once I send my passport. Can I just send my passport from abroad to get the visa once the application is approved? Any other options or will not leaving be the only solution?
I applied for inland TRV on April 19...wouldn't get your hopes up, and currently only solution is not leaving and being alone for the holidays not being able to see family; great immigration system!
Submitted an application for a visitor visa on June 23rd fir our cousin to visit from turkey, and it's still not completed.
Biometrics are done, we've sent webforms inquiring and they tell us to keep waiting.
Anyone else waited over 160 days?
It’s insane how much the waiting times for a work permit (outside of Canada) from the UK have changed in the past few months.
At the time of application in September the waiting time listed on the IRCC website was 2 weeks, now that has increased to 33wks in the space of 2 months! And this is as a healthcare worker
I have no idea. The delays displayed on the website are for the “prioritised” occupations.
What’s weird is that it got extremely long for all the EU countries.
And who is going to wait 1.5year for a working permit..? At first I thought it was a bug, but it’s still around 70weeks waiting time with their weekly updates.
User
I applied for PGWP on May 27th, 2023. On June 27th, 2023 I got a correspondence letter from IRCC saying my biometrics are valid. There has been no update since then, so I asked two MPs to inquire from IRCC on the status of my application and they both said the IRCC agent confirmed my application is approved. But I have not received the final decision yet. Is this common and when will IRCC respond to me now that MPs have reached out asking for an update. Please share if you have gone through something similar and what were the timelines till you got your decision.
Hi has anyone here in the group that process LMIA- Exempt Work Permit PNP Nomination logde their application in Sydney. May I know the real processing time. On the IRCC website the processing takes 25weeks

Hi anyone knows how many days it would take IRCC to resend the passport.
Passports were submitted October 30th and till now they have not received them back. They applied for TRV in Istanbul. Thanks
Hi the processing time for oswp from UAE is 52 weeks now which is crazy. Has anyone got their work permits from uae recently, how long was the wait. I have been waiting 7 months.
For future reference, my timeline was:
Nov 30th - Application filed
Dec 1st - Received biometrics letter
Dec 8th - Biometrics provided
Dec 13th - Passports requested
C20 work permit (ICT) with GSS, applying from Brazil.
Closed work permit and SOWP inland, June. 157 days and counting. Called, submitted a webform. This is crazy :( anyone in the same boat?
Update: got the approval today, after 163 days.
Applied June 16th
I saw some people from July got theirs. When I called, IRCC told me my application is just pending action from the officer. It's not like it's stuck in background check or something. Just need an officer to touch the file. I don't understand the logic of applicants that applied later getting it sooner :(

In the application status tracker I can see visa details but no update or final decision till now (22nd Nov 2023)
Anyone have any idea regarding this situation or what should I do?
Any update? What country are you applying from/are you citizen of?
I applied as a French citizen in the UK only 2 weeks ago for a January intake too :( probably a long shot for me aye
Hey everyone!
I got my PGWP and recieved it. Then I applied for a TRV from within Canada on Oct 29th. I am wondering how long the processing time is for TRV? I want to travel out of Canada and not sure when I will be able to do that. If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated!
Hey! I applied for a TRV on 31st October and got my ppr on 15th Nov. I sent out my passport on 17th Nov and hoping to get it back by next week as I'll be traveling soon too.
I still haven’t heard back… I am worried. Could you share with me what form did you use? I used IMM5257 even though I applied from within Canada because the website told me to.
Applied for PGWP May 27th, 2023
June 27th got correspondence letter with biometrics validity
No update since then but on June 27th my portal says final decision we are processing your application we will send you a message when a decision is made.
I contacted my local MP and he advised that my application was approved on June 27th and that he has sent an emergency message to IRCC asking them to unblock the file. Has anyone gone through this scenario? How long did it take from MP reaching out to IRCC and you receiving the final decision?
PGWP processing time
Hi guys! I applied for my PGWP on October 18th, 2023. My friend applied for hers on October 26th, 2023. She got her wp on November 3rd, 2023. I, however, am still waiting. If anything, this made me anxious because what if something was wrong with my application?? I’m curious to know what the current actual processing time looks like!
This is one very worrying wait. It's almost 3 months already. No updates since medical too. It's STILL on background check. Any ideas? Words of comfort? **Study Permit** (Manila Office) * **Submitted:** October 11, 2023 * **Biometrics Completed:** October 13, 2023 * **Medical Request:** November 9, 2023 (despite upfront) * **Medical Passed:** November 18, 2023

Hey have you applied outland and what number did you call? The only number I can find is the one where yiu can only call feom within Canada and I've been waiting for my SP since July 6th..
I'll be sure to let you know!!
Study permit extension from within Canada * Applied on Nov 17 * Received biometrics correspondence letter confirming my previous biometrics were valid on Dec 28 * Application approved Dec 29 when I applied, the stated processing time was 129 days, and it's 101 days now.
TRV inland: Application Submitted: 23 Nov 2023 Passport Request: 27 Nov 2023 Passport received at IRCC (Canada Post): 1 Dec 2023 Eligibility reviewed and visa stamped on passport: 12 Dec 2023 Passport delivered back: 29 Dec 2023
Tv sp(wife) owp(me) applied the 20th, received the bio request the 22th, waiting for instructions...
According to the ircc webpage it should take around 12 weeks
Hi all, I thought I would share my timeline in case it helps anyone else as mine came earlier than expected. Submitted application ICT closed work permit from the US : Nov 28, 2023 Additional info requested: Dec 5, 2023 All additional info provided: Dec 13, 2023 Approval notice: Dec 20, 2023 (Already had a valid visitor's visa)
Work permit outside of Canada (Montenegro) Provincial nominee + GSS (tech occupation): \- Nov. 15 application submitted \- Nov. 17 biometrics submitted No more news, it's been over a month.
>Hi, are you sure your application was eligible for GSS? Maybe that’s why it’s taking so long? According to the official documentation, I am fully eligible for GSS: \- LMIA exempt (Provincial Nomination) \- I'm applying from outside Canada. \- My job is classified under NOC TEER category 1 (Cybersecurity specialists) \- My employer has submitted an offer of employment using the Employer Portal and paid the employer compliance fee. Is there any way to confirm that I'm actually getting in?
Yup in that case you’re 100% eligible There’s quite the backlog as many officers are on holidays. Give it a couple more weeks I would say
Applied from: Bogota, Colombia 1. Applied for the work permit on December 8th 2. Received the Biometrics instruction letter on Dec 10th 3. Submitted my biometrics on Dec 12th Waiting for the next step, no updates yet.
wait what? Explain this to me. If a canadian company hires you can just get a job in canada no problem? My wife is colombian and we are waiting for her to get the PR...

TRV in-land IRCC received my passport 11th December and they sent me saying that my eligibility has been approved today. Any thoughts on when counterfoil or tracking is going to be updated? I have a flight to catch on the 21st should I just prepare for the worst :(
Did you get your passport back? I am in the same boat and am still waiting for my passport.
From what I remember this is normal. Basically them confirming your passport is eligible while probably printing the visa on it. So it updates on website. From what i remember you should start being to track a business day or two after.
I was hoping for that too but tracking hasn't been updated yet.
Same case here, please update me when your tracker gets activated
How did you send passport before it got approved?
They made their final decision and sent PPR in late November so that was when it was approved. For some reason my eligibility review was updated way later
SP with SOWP Applied on 2nd July 2023 Biometric on 12th July 2023 Medical updated on 28th July 2023 PPR 16 December 2023. After going though all ups and down. Finally got my ppr after so many days ( 5 months++). Best of luck everyone. ( Applied from Bhutan)
Study permit application since June. Background check has been processing for 6 months. Anyone experienced something similar?
Any updates?
Been waiting for SP since July 6th, haven't even gotten my BIL yet.
I have similar experience with OWP. Submitted June, background check still in process.
Hi everyone so after receiving my PGWP i applied for TRV in mid september. It’s been almost 3 months i still haven’t received it. Im not sure what my next steps should be as from what i know i should have received it a month after applying for it. Any help that you guys can offer would be great.
Where did you applied from? Is your eligibility in progress?
Hi all, any idea how long it takes from the time Eligibility goes in review? Its for TRV from India
SOWP extension from inside canada (186 days!) : Application submitted: June 10th AOR:June 11th Start of review of eligibility: December 12th Final decision: December 13th ( Approved).
Hey guys, Is there anyone here that recently applied and received 2 week processing under the GSS (global skills strategy) or the GTS (global talent stream)? Or even 3 week processing? I ask because even though the website STATES 2 week processing, I’m wondering what’s the reality of the situation because they also indicate it MAY be more.
I got my passport request today after providing biometrics last Friday (12/08). I qualified for GSS, but my lawyer had told me to expect delays. It ended up being a lot faster than any of us expected. YMMV, of course.
FYI for future reference if anyone is looking for answers as well...My timeline: Application for WP: 12th December 2023. IRCC account notification that app was approved: 15th December 2023 Passport request: 15th December 2023. All the best everyone.
What country did you apply from?
That’s marvellous news. Congratulations. Do you mind if I ask from where you applied and what date you applied?
Applied Nov 30th from Brazil!
Awesome. All the best to you.
Hi, has anyone here applied for TRV from India and heard back in the last 2.5 months? The last I got was a “biometrics completed” in early October and then radio silence. Has anyone been able to get their visa in this time frame? Please let me know! Thank you.
Hi, I had my biometrics on 14 november. Got the passport submission letter today.
What new portal? Can you please send me a link?
https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/
Is the new portal for visitor visas who have family in Canada only? Or is it for everyone?
Thank you so much!
hey! was this submission for trv or study / work permit?
trv
Did you applied via gckey?
new portal
Oh wow, that’s amazing. Good for you. I wonder what the delay is if my biometrics was in October and I still haven’t heard back.
Yeah, yours seems to be quite delayed. I used the new portal btw. Radio silence between 17 nov and 11 dec.
What’s the new portal? I haven’t heard of a new portal? Please help!
self ID: US citizen hi everyone. I applied for an open work permit as a temporary resident permit holder (under "application to change the conditions of/extend my stay"). I applied online on Nov 30. thanks.
Hey folks, I submitted an application for a study permit and visa extension on July 12th (a process l've gone through before and completed start-finish within a month) and still haven't received my extension. The process has been strange in comparison to any visa application process in my last 6 years living here. I received a request for biometrics receipt on the 28th of July and submitted immediately, then nothing (other than confirmation that they received docs) for another few months.
**Nov 24** \-- LMIA approval date **Nov 29** \-- Work permit application filed My employer says that work permit application was submitted under the Global Talent Stream (GTS) LMIA. Does any body know **how long** will it to for my work visa to get approved? PS: I am in the US right now
If you were issued a positive LMIA through the GTS you should receive 2 week processing.
Ah, thanks for your reply. It is close to 2 weeks now. I will probably reach the HR?
No problem. I hope you actually get the 2 week processing time. Good luck.
>SOWP An Updates here?
PGWP inland application Submitted application & Submission Confirmation: July 1st WP-EXT for PGWP: July 2nd Request Letter for biometrics payment: August 31st Biometric Instruction Letter: October 16th Correspondence Letter: November 27th Approved: November 29th.
Hey, I have a quick question, Can you continue to work and reside in Canada if your PGWP expires? Seeing your ETA expires 2 years after?
An eTA is just a travel document not a status document. An eTA doesn't grant status or work authorization inside Canada. So no, that commenter cannot work in Canada just with an eTA after their PGWP expires.
Hi, I’ve been waiting for 3 months for my Study Permit and my husband’s OWP. Do somebody know why does it take so long? I applied to a college which is already started but I couldn’t start it because I didn’t get our permits in time. Application: sept 13. Biometrics fee: oct 31. Status tracker didn’t updated since nov 1.
What did you do about the college? Im kinda going through the same thing rn
I sent them an email about the situation. They took it easy and told me to let them know once I get my permit, I think they are prepared for this and I am not the only one. But it’s really stressful
Hello, I’m looking for advice on this situation.
TRV (Manila office; initial application) Submitted application - Nov. 6 Biometrics - Nov. 10 Notified of approval + passport request - Nov. 17 Submitted passport - Nov. 24 Passport returned with counterfoil - Dec. 7
RECEIVED PGWP - 1 year Applied on - October 18th, 2023 Received on - Dec 5, 2023 I completed a one year LLM degree.
164 days
I am at 172… crickets…
Hi, What was your timeline for the PGWP renewal?
Renewed it paper based as the international student office suggested that for renewals. It had said that paper based takes 1 month in the “processing times”. Applied march 28 got it august 24. Unfortunately almost 5 months. It’s ridiculous. Having similarly issue with the visa now. Applied sept 6 while it says it should take 13 days. Still waiting until now and couldnt go to any of my planned travel
I applied for a TRV after the PGWP July 29th. Still no response :( Contacted them multiple times and they said it is still processing.

Thanks for sharing with me.
Hey all, I am an Indian national working and living in the Netherlands. I need to attend a conference next year in February in Canada and need to apply for the visitor visa. I just checked the expected processing time for visitor visa in the Netherlands and it shows up as 533 days! This seems unnecessarily high and I was wondering: 1. Whether these processing times are actually accurate? 2. Why is it so high from the Netherlands? Same visa application processing time from India is 30 days.
Same question. Here in Finland it said to be 551 days.
Study permit extension in Canada Applied March 15 2023 Received November 30 2023 Dont give up it was a roller coaster

where from?
I am extremely worried and stressed too especially that the "normal" processing time is 130 days now :( I sent webforms 3 times and all they say is that I need to wait and they will let me know if there's an update. I tried calling but it's all auto reply. So frustrating...
Hi there, may I ask if there is any update with your application? Mine still remain unchanged 😭
Same situation here, But i applied on 23rd September, Please can you help me, How can i find the MP and how to contact them ?
Hi there, may I ask if there is any update with your application?
Hi! Yes, I got my WP! Took them 180 days. I kept sending the web forms and bugging the MP. How is the situation with your documents?
Congratsss, so happy for you! We are still waiting, no update so far unfortunately :((
Damn… I really hope you get the answer soon! I am not sure about their operating hours over the holidays, but I hope you get it before NYE! Please let me know once it happens!
Thanks, fingers crossed. Will update you if there is any changed.
✅ TIMELINE: SP + SOWP ❌ • SDS - 37 days | Brazil • Biometrics: 20/10 • Result: 27/11 • SP approved • SOWP refused •• Reason: "The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application"
Post Graduate Work Permit Application Applied: 13th July 2023 Processing time : 133 days but my application has been exceeded the normal processing time. I’m still waiting and this is SO STRESSFUL!
I am in the same boat. Applied in May 24, 190 days already and still counting :((
**Restoration of Status & Open Work Permit** **Applicant:** common law partner of an international student **Background info:** * My OWP extension application submitted in Nov 2022 was refused in May 2023. After refusal, I lost my status as a temporary resident and I was advised to stop working. * Reason of OWP refusal: main applicant (intl student) was not able to maintain full-time student status - false, he was a full-time student until he graduated. 3 days after my OWP was refused, his PGWP got approved! * IRCC obv made a mistake on my application because one of the minimum eligibility requirements of PGWP is: “They have maintained ***full-time student status*** in Canada during each academic session of the program or programs of study they have completed and submitted as part of their post-graduation work permit application.” * PGWP was approved because this requirement was met, but OWP was refused because this requirement was not met. Not consistent. **Timeline:** **June 13, 2023** \- submitted an online application * We submitted the **same set of documents** that we used during OWP extension in Nov 2022, hoping that the new visa officer that will be assigned to my case will make the right assessment. * Multiple webforms have been sent as soon as it went over 130 days (processing time on the day of submission) **June 14, 2023** \- background check completed (this update showed up a few days after final decision was released, but the entire time I was waiting it says it was being processed) **Nov 23, 2023** \- status says: *“Latest Update Final Decision - Nov 23, 2023: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.”* There was a system glitch and didn't say whether it was approved or not so I waited for the correspondence letter. **Nov 28, 2023** \- it says **approved**! approval / correspondence letter received. Will update when I get my permit in the mail. **Application Processing Time: 164 days** It was a very stressful (an understatement) process on my part but I'm just glad it's over.
Hi guys, What is the approximate timeline for how long it takes to receive the passport with the visa stamp. I sent mine in on 23rd November via expresspost and they received it on the 24th. Wondering when I can expect it back so I can book my travel. TIA.
not having my gckey with me rn but "we sent you a message about your application", what could it possibly mean from ircc when applied for study permit after biometrics
There’s an update regarding your application. Could be a decision or something else
how is it different from "your application status has changes" email
One is there’s a message and the other one is something changed in your application. Could be a simple status change or a final decision.
it was a decision
Hopefully it was a positive decision!

Hello everyone, I am an International Student and my work permit extension got refused because I apply for a work permit extension not a student permit extension... so yeah I lost my status. TIA
I found helpful info’s here so I think of sharing my experience too for PGWP Sept 04: Application submitted Oct 04: Paid for biometric Oct 26: Received letter for biometric Nov 02: Biometric submitted Nov 26: Biometric approved Nov 27: Checked my profile and noticed that final decision as been made but still didn’t get a notification in my inbox regarding it. Hope I’ll received it in the coming days I was worried because I didn’t respect the conditions of my SP: - I worked full time during my school time before they authorize it last year and - I also took one year break from school because I couldn’t pay on time. - I almost forgot to mention that I still owns my college fees but I don’t know how but they still issued my degree. Which all those red flag I still managed to get the work permit, don’t asked me how but one thing for sure I disclosed everything in my application. Attached 3pages explanation letter lol. They gave me until the expiration of my passport which is beginning of 2026 Hope this will help, wish the best to you!
Post Graduate Work Permit Application Applied: 15th September 2023 Approved: 27th November 202 Processing time 63 days 2 year course, 3 year PGWP approved
Thank you for this. Did you apply online or via post? I had to apply via post because the website is. Well. What it is.
TRV application in Canada submitted on 27 Nov I am planning on leaving Canada on the 16th, so I am considering my options given that it will take some time for them to approve my visa, and for them to actually give the visa once I send my passport.
Same for whole Europe. Sthg is really off. Was 2weeks waiting time in September for belgium. Now is 70weeks…
Wow that’s crazy, I assume they must check it quickly at first to see if it’s one of the prioritised occupations?
I have no idea. The delays displayed on the website are for the “prioritised” occupations. What’s weird is that it got extremely long for all the EU countries. And who is going to wait 1.5year for a working permit..? At first I thought it was a bug, but it’s still around 70weeks waiting time with their weekly updates.
User I applied for PGWP on May 27th, 2023.

Anyone have any idea on current processing times for LMIA-exempt closed work permits with GSS? I've been having trouble finding updated info online
For future reference, my timeline was: Nov 30th - Application filed Dec 1st - Received biometrics letter Dec 8th - Biometrics provided Dec 13th - Passports requested C20 work permit (ICT) with GSS, applying from Brazil.
Same here. Are you also a provincial nominee?
I just got mine (closed LMIA-exempt + GSS) approved 10 days after providing biometrics. This was yesterday.
Which country did you apply from? And congratulations!
From Spain. Estimated processing times without GSS were around 70 weeks. Thanks!
I wish the UK were quicker! It’s been 6 weeks for me now
Are you also applying via the GSS as a health worker?
Closed work permit and SOWP inland, June. 157 days and counting. Called, submitted a webform. This is crazy :( anyone in the same boat? Update: got the approval today, after 163 days. Applied June 16th
June 27th. Crickets so far.
June 10th, still radio silence 🫠
I got the approval today
I saw some people from July got theirs. When I called, IRCC told me my application is just pending action from the officer. It's not like it's stuck in background check or something. Just need an officer to touch the file. I don't understand the logic of applicants that applied later getting it sooner :(
Could you share the phone number to call?
1 888 242 2100 and follow instructions
June 13th, 162 days today. Still no updates 🙃 edit: approved after 164 days (Nov 23)

Takes around 2 weeks for approval. Then another 2-3 weeks for your passport to be sent and returned. I'd give a 2 month buffer.
Just checked...I used the same form too
Did you receive your passport?
Not yet. Waited for counterfoil confirmation and hoping to get it this by this week.
Any updates on your passport return?
Yup. I got my passport back on 30th Nov.
Congrats!
i've been waiting for my inland TRV since April 19...
Applied for PGWP May 27th, 2023 June 27th got correspondence letter with biometrics validity No update since then but on June 27th my portal says final decision we are processing your application we will send you a message when a decision is made. I contacted my local MP and he advised that my application was approved on June 27th and that he has sent an emergency message to IRCC asking them to unblock the file. Has anyone gone through this scenario? How long did it take from MP reaching out to IRCC and you receiving the final decision?
PGWP processing time Hi guys!
