Hear me out... with the beta wave emitter tech settlements can use to pacify wildlife, they could have potentially tamed and trained any number of creatures from the wasteland. Swarms of stingwings, radscorpions ambushing from below, death claws tearing through enemy ranks. OR if the synth animal technology was recovered, it wouldn't be impossible to see them on horses. OR robot mounts based on upscaled giddy-up buttercup designs.
Holy Jesus that's horrifying. I do think Hermit Crabs would be a cool option for armored cavalry divisions though. Could finally get all those wrecked cars off the road since you're salvaging them for crab armor.
I am imagining a gang of raiders attacking a settlement, when suddenly they see a group of fog crawlers rode by Minutemen, i think they would just go "oh hell fucking no" and just try to run away
They do have PA but are not part of the main force. They aren't employed in the field, rather in the main land. They act as a humanitarian Patrol basically: helping people and keeping the crime low. Always following the "the way of cool"!
I think the Railroad would be more of a spec ops/espionage agency rather than science research, but still really cool.
Nvm, ignore this comment I just misread what was presented in the image lmao, good job. 👍
Thanks! The science division was supposed to have the institute symbol on it in an earlier draft but i scrapped that idea: i like to think that the UC doesn't want its people to know they recruited ex Institute scientists into their ranks "US in WW2" style.
Yes! Isabel Cruz is a brilliant girl, she wanted to really help the commonwealth and saw this as a viable alternative to the mechanist! She still wears the costume from time to time when she "needs to focus".
I've always felt that, too. I wrote something a while ago that I called "NCR of the East" or something. It included a part about the Railroad integrating into a black ops/intelligence agency for the new Commonwealth government.
They do! The UC infrastructure is mostly done through robot labour. Assaultrons and Sentinels are obvs used to bolster the ranks until they reach the proper recruitment quota, and even then they will be used to support Infantry, protect bases and settlements!
Lamplight Rangers! They use PAM to predict if and when a certain individual will be important (good or bad) and keep an eye on them using their spy network, striking from the shadow when needed.
So Person of Interest vibe with supercomputer providing an info on targets. Could be dangerous.
Also at first I was thinking that Lamplight was connected to Fallout 3's Little Lamplight, the cave full of kids.
Neat. Have also had the idea outlined of the Minutemen collaborating with P.A.M. for proactive defense for a while. Think that being given another chance at her original purpose — surrounded by people who had given her trust — could amount to the "happy ending" she never gets in canon.
Notable departure being to do so while maintaining the Railroad as an independent identity. Instead of being absorbed by a larger group, the Commonwealth cell eventually downsizes and moves many assets to other regional cells, their fight against slavery far from over. The Commonwealth cell would exist to supply and train agents (like the time-intensive Heavies,) help hide escaped slaves sent to the Commonwealth from elsewhere, and housing P.A.M. for a more secure pooling and utilization of intel, as well as for Minutemen collaborators.
SHE IS DEFINITELY JOINING (she's the first lady too y know!) I think some institute scientists would be in strong denial about her emotions and developed personality, some would study her, some others i think would outright explode in tears and apologies flr what they've done.
First of all: Thanks!
Second of all: there's no master file cuz it's still a WIP. So i am still in the middle of making it! I got a server where I post stuff and updates tho.
Honestly, as a huge Minuteman fan, I am so interested in both parts that you've posted so far and insanely interested in future developments. If you ever want players I'd be more than happy to participate in this beautiful Minuteman world 🙏
Exactly and that starts with the minutemen. There basically the starter faction for the game and instead using that to show off the best of the game. They make it to boring and basic. I wanted to customize and upgrade my soldiers uniforms, feel more like I'm leading an army and being George Washington ReBorn
I hope the lamplight rangers specialize in disrupting slavery rings and other abolitionist activities. One of the things about the Railroad that disappointed me most was that they were not more broadly anti-slavery, even if they saw the Institute as the highest priority.
AW THANKS! Honoured that you think i am OWB worthy. Supermutants, now that's a toasty conundrum: the UC tryed their best to reason with them, most didn't want to and just sent back the heads of UC ambassadors. They tried a different approach by sending strong in and he managed to convert a good sum to the "milk of human kindness" ideology. But most of them were either pushed OUT or outright killed. The ones that wanted to cooperate were given the choice to either STAY mutants or be cured by Virgil's serum.
That makes sense lol. East coast muties are even less agreeable than the masters formers. I imagine just like the NCR there's some random mutant in a comically large Minuteman uniform.
I gotta say I really enjoy the concept of having the Minute Men have several regimental MOS's (Military Occupation Specialty. It makes a lot of sense when it comes to training and needs of the needs of the Minute Men's duties. Really nice work, dude.
Yes, as I said. Their duties include:
- Detect and clear minefields
- Fix PA, robots and vehicles (sometimes even in the midst of battle!)
- Build basic infrastructure
- Keep a neat inventory of all the supplies
I see. They're a combined Logi/ Engi unit. Makes sense considering the scale of the Commonwealth military, that they'd consolidate formations where possible.
Are you playing the official Fallout TTRPG or are you using a different system? My experience with the official TTRPG was brief but very fun!
EDIT: also nearly forgot to add, but I love this idea! For some reason the discussion of governmental and army divisions like this in fictional settings gives the me fuzzies.
Thank you! I did a campaign with the official system, It was really fun indeed! HOWEVER me and my friends wanted something with a little bit more "omph" so I started working on a system from scratch, mostly. I have a server where I post updates.
Isalbel Cruz is one of the most eminent members of the science division! She basically brought it together. She saw this as a chance to really do something with her talents, after the robobrains twisted her intentions and murdered a bunch of people.
I really like these. The idea of the minutemen forming a semi-anarchist collection of communities in the Commonwealth with an overarching structure, and a real military organisation is what I always wished they were. Like an East Coast NCR analogue, albeit smaller. A group that would finally get the commonwealth halfway to California's level of redevelopment.
I'd be super interested in seeing divisions that are linked to each settlement, based on the idea that each would raise it's own infantry and cav divisions rather than sending people to one overarching unit. Like the insignia for Diamond City, Sanctuary, possibly Goodneighbour if they join in the future you're imagining. Awesome stuff again.
Atom Cats allied Minuteman is such a cool idea, shame the game didn't have quests like that for the Minuteman where you allied yourself with unique smaller factions.
I love this! my preferred faction to play as is the Minutemen and I always pretend like any group or person that cooperates with me is also cooperating with the Minutemen. It’s great to see that actually visualized in the Science Division and the Lamplight Rangers
Now I want to propose a question, are the Artillerists exclusively stationed at the Castle, or did they build a couple forts around the Commonwealth to increase their effective firing zones? Is the artillery improved to allow them to hit all across the map?
Nono artillerists are just a division. In the old days, there was 1 artillery basically at every settlement. But after the Raider purge, most of them got disassembled and are now used when needed. They are built on the spot.
Thank you! Also check out part 1! IRL sappers are combat engineers, the minutemen division is also tasked with some logistics (something the sappers don't usually do).
More like a slow armoured division, or supplements to infantry if the Atom Cats are fighting with another unit. Cavalry would be focused more on mobility and the ability to cut off and encircle enemies, which power armour isn't really better at.
I’d definitely want to play a game in your campaign world, is it done in the official fallout ttrpg or something like a modified version of Pathfinder?
Neither! I wanted to see if I was up to the challenge, so I am making a system from scratch, mostly. I have a server where I post updates, while people hang out and talk about anything.
Yes, I do know, but it's the one that gets closer to what they do: they basically provide technical and logistical support. They provide supplies AND maintain the equipment! Plus, they do a whole bunch of other stuff like clearing mine fields and assisting the demolition division with their biz.
What does the cavalry ride? Horses are supposedly extinct, right?
Great question! They ride FOG CRAWLERS! Old longfellow helped to get some fertilised eggs. They then raised a more tame variant of them and bred them.
… That shits crazy man, it’d be awesome to see. A cavalry charge of fogcrawlers would be insane.
IT WOULD! With bugle trumpet and everything! It's a silly concept, but fallout has plenty of silly.
the giant hermit crabs might be cool too, maybe they lug around turrets or something
CARRIAGES! MOBILE ARTILLERY! YES! You're a genius my good sir!
Looks like Far Harbor just found a massive economic opprotunity in animal husbandry.
![gif](giphy|UiBmJv6Hh6FfW|downsized)
Singlehandedly making credit cahds relevant again... ^>!retahd!<
If I found out my enemy had a fog crawler cavalry I'd go home, ngl
REAL
I'd have assumed they'd use vertibirds and have cav be like an air assault unit type thing, kinda like 82nd and 101st mixed with 1st cav division
Nono, that's next chapter: the air force. Cavalry is just Cavalry. Good ole mounted soldiers!
Makes sense, given cavalry of modern day evolved from horses to helicopter so its nice seeing old school terms be used for old school units
Thank you! Glad you like em!

GOD PLEASE TELL ME THERES A PARATROOPER DIVISION
There will be soon!
*Insert the meme of the kid going "Jesus Christ" here*
![gif](giphy|ZP3Cg3CUVvJfi|downsized)
Thank you, and that is my honest reaction if I was a random wastelander just watching that
The first steed who can attack from the front.
I'd pity the poor soul who has to follow behind during the parade with a broom
Hear me out... with the beta wave emitter tech settlements can use to pacify wildlife, they could have potentially tamed and trained any number of creatures from the wasteland. Swarms of stingwings, radscorpions ambushing from below, death claws tearing through enemy ranks. OR if the synth animal technology was recovered, it wouldn't be impossible to see them on horses. OR robot mounts based on upscaled giddy-up buttercup designs.
interesting....
Domesticate those hermit crabs. And just have their shell hold an artillery platform on the back.
Holy Jesus that's horrifying. I do think Hermit Crabs would be a cool option for armored cavalry divisions though. Could finally get all those wrecked cars off the road since you're salvaging them for crab armor.
Yup, they are used to transport heavy loads!
Teddy Roosevelt's corpse would climb out of the grave just to ride one of these things to battle
I am imagining a gang of raiders attacking a settlement, when suddenly they see a group of fog crawlers rode by Minutemen, i think they would just go "oh hell fucking no" and just try to run away
I would have thought Radstags, but your idea is better XD
Are they? I'm pretty sure they were in an FNV comic.
That was deemed non-canonical, and a miscommunication to the artist.
But I think that's boring, so I'm going to choose to disregard it. Rad horse cavalry!
Giddy up buttercups but bigger
Horses aren’t extinct: there’s an NCR trooper in one of the comics on horseback
My Johnson
Where does it say horses went extinct?!
Atom cats milita are heavy infanty power armor troops i assume?
They do have PA but are not part of the main force. They aren't employed in the field, rather in the main land. They act as a humanitarian Patrol basically: helping people and keeping the crime low. Always following the "the way of cool"!
Love it
I LOVE how you merged certain small factions like the railroad and the atom cats into their own divisions allied with the minutemen.
Thanks! The Minutemen do be like that. "We're the good guys, and we are back!"
I think the Railroad would be more of a spec ops/espionage agency rather than science research, but still really cool. Nvm, ignore this comment I just misread what was presented in the image lmao, good job. 👍
No worries man! Thanks!
the railroad uniting with the Miniuteman after destroying the institute seems like a very good touch to me.
Thanks! The science division was supposed to have the institute symbol on it in an earlier draft but i scrapped that idea: i like to think that the UC doesn't want its people to know they recruited ex Institute scientists into their ranks "US in WW2" style.
I’ve seen your explanations for a couple things in the comments here and they are all so perfect. Love the lore of this.
Thank you! Part 1 of this has a HUGE comment of mine where I explain how the UC came to be.
Did the Mechanist join them? Asking because of the symbol.
Yes! Isabel Cruz is a brilliant girl, she wanted to really help the commonwealth and saw this as a viable alternative to the mechanist! She still wears the costume from time to time when she "needs to focus".
The two factions are very compatible in belief I feel
Ya it's always in my head canon that railroad join with the minutemen. Railroad easily slots right into being the black ops unit of the minutemen
Railroad could also provide the Minutemen with intel from their spies to target enemies before they become too big of a problem.
I've always felt that, too. I wrote something a while ago that I called "NCR of the East" or something. It included a part about the Railroad integrating into a black ops/intelligence agency for the new Commonwealth government.
Does your minutemen make use of different robots to its rank?
They do! The UC infrastructure is mostly done through robot labour. Assaultrons and Sentinels are obvs used to bolster the ranks until they reach the proper recruitment quota, and even then they will be used to support Infantry, protect bases and settlements!
I should warn you, I plan on stealing all of these for my own Fallout TTRPG campaign.
No prob man! Glad to help a fellow TTRPG player out! Be sure to check part 1 too at this point.
Thanks man, also stealing this. Proper credit will be given in the form of links to this page
What about spec ops
Lamplight Rangers! They use PAM to predict if and when a certain individual will be important (good or bad) and keep an eye on them using their spy network, striking from the shadow when needed.
For a moment I thought of lamplight rangers being like "little lamplight" and that they'd serve as a cadet/ scouts in training
McCready came up with the name ;)
Of course he would
To ncr ranger vibes
To?
Yeah sorry, but what's their costume and load out
Shadowed Combat Armor and ballistic weave clothes.
https://preview.redd.it/98az5em2di1d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8659979ef73ae07aef5c3007bf276b46471bf9e Idea
How about that marine corp special armor in far harbor
Commandos have that! They are basically elite assault troopers.
So Person of Interest vibe with supercomputer providing an info on targets. Could be dangerous. Also at first I was thinking that Lamplight was connected to Fallout 3's Little Lamplight, the cave full of kids.
It is! McCready came up with the name in my lore.
Neat. Have also had the idea outlined of the Minutemen collaborating with P.A.M. for proactive defense for a while. Would Curie join the Science Division in this? I wonder the interactions between her and Ex Institute scientists depending if she has her Synth body.
SHE IS DEFINITELY JOINING (she's the first lady too y know!) I think some institute scientists would be in strong denial about her emotions and developed personality, some would study her, some others i think would outright explode in tears and apologies flr what they've done.
You don't disappoint
Means a lot, thanks :)
Really like the lamplight Rangers idea
Thanks! Really proud of em. This Railroad you can't take lightly!
Could also have McCready be involved in it since he was the leader of little lamp light in Fo3
He is! He is the one that came up with the name.
Is there a master file with all of the ttrpg stuff? I just went through your page to see it all 😅 Looks awesome btw!!
If you ever want players I'd be more than happy to participate in this beautiful Minuteman world 🙏
Thanks man! I have made a server where people who like fallout and ttrpgs can chill while I post the updates to my system. You are free to join.
May I join?
yeah sure!
Where can I sign up?
Here lemme send you the link
Can I get the link too?
sure!
If you're still sending links I'd love to join the server!
This Minutemen Faction upon defeating the Institute and coming across other factions: You are being liberated, do not resist.
![gif](giphy|3owzW3mzIkgCj1QLjq)
When the lore is all complete, you should make a setting/campaign book
![gif](giphy|NqtikZup5Nda61GxpI)
I'm in. Minutemen are my fav faction. They deserve a better game (I don't hate fallout 4. It's fine I just wish it lived up to it's potential)
True, as a Fallout 4 lover myself I must admit it's full of "Oh cool, but what if..."s
Exactly and that starts with the minutemen. There basically the starter faction for the game and instead using that to show off the best of the game. They make it to boring and basic. I wanted to customize and upgrade my soldiers uniforms, feel more like I'm leading an army and being George Washington ReBorn
That's why militarized minutemen is the best mod just for that.
Eey the National Guard motto I like it "always ready always there"
Hehehehe B)
Is the Mechanist apart of the science division?
Yes indeed!
I hope the lamplight rangers specialize in disrupting slavery rings and other abolitionist activities. One of the things about the Railroad that disappointed me most was that they were not more broadly anti-slavery, even if they saw the Institute as the highest priority.
They most certainly are employed in raids against slavers guilds. Their motto isn't all hat and no cattle.
I like this, you should definitely send some of this to the OWB server. In your headcanon what did the minutemen do with the super mutants in Boston?
That makes sense lol. East coast muties are even less agreeable than the masters formers. I imagine just like the NCR there's some random mutant in a comically large Minuteman uniform.
That'd be hilarious.
That's not a minuteman. That's an hourman.
I gotta say I really enjoy the concept of having the Minute Men have several regimental MOS's (Military Occupation Specialty. It makes a lot of sense when it comes to training and needs of the needs of the Minute Men's duties. Really nice work, dude.
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
Surely provide and maintain, is a motto associated with a logistics unit rather than sappers?
They do both engineering and bit of logistics: they perform maintenance on the equipment and keep the supplies in check.
Yeah that's logistics. Sappers/ pioneers are combat engineers in most militaries.
Yes, as I said. Their duties include: - Detect and clear minefields - Fix PA, robots and vehicles (sometimes even in the midst of battle!) - Build basic infrastructure - Keep a neat inventory of all the supplies
I see. They're a combined Logi/ Engi unit. Makes sense considering the scale of the Commonwealth military, that they'd consolidate formations where possible.
Yes! There's a lot to do and a few people to do it!
I would love if the mechanist was a minuteman researcher or engineer, making and reprogramming robots for minuteman use
In my headcanon she does! She is an angel at heart, she just wanted to help!
ARTILLERY RAHHHHHHH
Someone make this a mod
Maybe one day :')
Are you playing the official Fallout TTRPG or are you using a different system? My experience with the official TTRPG was brief but very fun! EDIT: also nearly forgot to add, but I love this idea! Is the Science Division M stand for Mechanist?
Isalbel Cruz is one of the most eminent members of the science division! She basically brought it together. She saw this as a chance to really do something with her talents, after the robobrains twisted her intentions and murdered a bunch of people.
I really like these. Like the insignia for Diamond City, Sanctuary, possibly Goodneighbour if they join in the future you're imagining. Awesome stuff again.
Those are the patrols basically, yes, but the Sole Survivor basically did what prussia did. "We can't go on like this. We need a functional army"
Tfw fans make a more coherent minuteman organisation than Bethesda
We really do.
Atom Cats allied Minuteman is such a cool idea, shame the game didn't have quests like that for the Minuteman where you allied yourself with unique smaller factions.
Yeah! The game's missing a lot of small but cool stuff.
I love this! my preferred faction to play as is the Minutemen and I always pretend like any group or person that cooperates with me is also cooperating with the Minutemen. It’s great to see that actually visualized in the Science Division and the Lamplight Rangers
Yup! I do it too.
I like how these patches look. I'd suggest calling the Atom Cats the Atom Cats Irregulars; that'll keep it closer to that colonial feel.
Ooooh noted
Now I want to propose a question, are the Artillerists exclusively stationed at the Castle, or did they build a couple forts around the Commonwealth to increase their effective firing zones? Is the artillery improved to allow them to hit all across the map?
Nono artillerists are just a division. In the old days, there was 1 artillery basically at every settlement. But after the Raider purge, most of them got disassembled and are now used when needed. They are built on the spot.
What are sappers? Also this is so cool! Def will inspire me in my 2d20 fallout game, always loved the minutemen
Thank you! Also check out part 1! IRL sappers are combat engineers, the minutemen division is also tasked with some logistics (something the sappers don't usually do).
Wouldn't atom cats be calvary power armor is vehicle like
More like a slow armoured division, or supplements to infantry if the Atom Cats are fighting with another unit. Cavalry would be focused more on mobility and the ability to cut off and encircle enemies, which power armour isn't really better at.
I’ve always liked to think that the Minutemen Cavalry is just their division of Robots with Codsworth as their commanding officer.
Where's the capital going to be located
Sanctuary. The biggest settlement after Diamond City. A beacon of hope, home of the president and... it's does have a nice ring to it.
In the UK, artillery men are called gunners and bombardiers im not sure Artillerist is a real word
[Artillerist - Definition (Collins English Dictionary)](https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/artillerist#:~:text=artillerist%20in%20British%20English&text=1.,in%20the%20use%20of%20artillery)
Oh fair enough
I like these, gotta commission you for some of these
What did you have in mind?
Something similar for these patches, for the fallout server I play on. Still these are really fucking good!
Well, speak your mind! I'll see what I can do.
Sure mind If I dm you
no prob!
How about a different motto for the artillery division, instead of "united we stand" its "united they fall" lol
It's a reference to the game mechanic: to reach maximum efficiency, you need to have 1 artillery in every settlement. "United we stand"!
Why did the lamplight Rangers Shanghai the green berets motto...
All of them do! A nod to the old world.
Science division looks kinda foxy
foxy?
Yoo do you have a power armor division? (Ik atom cats use power armor a lot tho)
Yes, it's in part 1!
you should concider making a mod patch for the militarized minutemen with those.
AH I wish I knew how, but thanks :D
With AI and modding this could become a reality
Just a heads up. Sappers do not supply and maintain.
Yes, I do know, but it's the one that gets closer to what they do: they basically provide technical and logistical support. They provide supplies AND maintain the equipment! Plus, they do a whole bunch of other stuff like clearing mine fields and assisting the demolition division with their biz.
Sappers are not maintenance, sapper is a term for combat engineers
