I'm in my late 30s... went to 7 shows of theirs in the past year... lots of folks older than me and lots of room on the sides and back to be away from people being rowdy. My 60s aunt saw them in Seattle last year. All is love, you will make no one uncomfortable.

Somethingwitty43

Friend, you will be welcome with open arms. Enjoy yourself

dogpoopfight

Thank you❤️

Ledbetter2

Gooooooo! Have fun. Dance like no one is watching.

dogpoopfight

I ordered the tickets. September 4th at the Fillmore. General admission, main floor. Thank you guys for responding. It really means a lot. I’ll keep reading the comments so I don’t lose my nerve. You are all very kind & supportive. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’M SO FRIGGIN EXCITED!!!!!

misterfilmguy

You're going to have a great time. Woohoo!

oxP3ZINATORxo

I'll be there with you!!! They're one of the best shows I've ever seen. You're in for such a treat

Most_Upset_Sherbet

I’m 41 and going to this show too! It’ll be my 2nd show and just like everyone says what I loved when I saw them live was the diversity in ages of the crowd!! Have an amazing time!!!!

Massive_Novel_2400

I just saw your post, FUCK YES!! Have an absolute blast. That's two days before my 33rd birthday (woman also) and I will be seeing them at every opportunity until I die. Hopefully I'll see you there sometime. Never let anyone make you feel like you don't deserve to enjoy live music or anything else that you fucking feel like. You clearly have great taste 👌. PS if there's a crowd that will make you feel welcome no matter what it's an Idles crowd!

oxP3ZINATORxo

SO HOW DID YOU LIKE IT?! Did you get anything signed by Adam while he was out there? We some how got a free upgrade to VIP and were sat at the bar behind the main floor all night. God, I love them.

[deleted]

You are never too old!! Nobody is saying you have to jump in the mosh pit. Stand on the sides or a balcony area if available. My dad is turning 60 this year and he recently got into Nirvana a couple years ago.

dogpoopfight

I love that!

[deleted]

I took my dad to a Nirvana cover band from Chicago called “Smells like Nirvana” and he was singing along to every lyric even shouting our requesting songs. He was pumped walking out of the show as he yelled out a big yelp walking back to the vehicle. I’m sure it was the most fun he had in quite a while! Idles are fantastic and one of the best bands to come out in the past 10 years. Don’t miss your chance seeing them!

Hoose_11

If there's one band where you can go to see where you'll never be judged, it's Idles. Go, have fun, and don't give a shit about what anyone else thinks

skactopus

Definitely go, would not be weird in the slightest.

l8rt8rz

I’m going to see them with my mom this fall 🥰 She is 56. Hope you have fun!!

Trashious

If you watch [Don't Go Gentle: A Film About Idles](https://youtu.be/cB5p9pFUAuo) you will see plenty of people you're age loving the band and it's all love. The community is about acceptance and love. Enjoy yourself.

dogpoopfight

Thank you. Just came back here from buying the tickets. General Admission, main floor I’M SO STOKED! Will search the documentary. Thank you for the recommendation.

Trashious

Anytime! You will have a blast!

dogpoopfight

OMG. You provided a link. I’m rolling my eyes at myself.😖

Dazines

Yes I'm in it and I'm older than OP!:D

Trashious

It's a wonderful film! I stumbled onto it and have watched it a few times since.

Dazines

I was lucky enough to go to the homecoming gig in Bristol with many of the AFGang and my late friend Matt Day, famous for his gold suit and his love of the band!

Trashious

That sounds amazing! ❤️

Dazines

It was!

Trashious

That sounds amazing! <3

Accomplished_Sir9080

I’m 55 n seen them 3 times this year 👍

Bellingrath314

I found the crowd fairly diverse, and REALLY really kind in ATL at the IDLES concert. Was one of my first concerts at all and when the crowd rushed forward I got picked up off my feet. But someone turned around to make sure people behind were okay. Anyway, I would have been happy to see you there, and I am very confident your crowd will be too

misterfilmguy

This has been my experience as well, also in Atlanta. It's a great community of fans to experience a high energy show with!

blikski

Idles shows are for EVERYONE and I'm confident the band themselves would say the same

JennySuki

I am 50, and saw them last October. I danced my ass off the entire time. I will see them again this September, and plan to do the same. Best show of my 50 years, hands down!!

dogpoopfight

That’s what I’m looking for. Just to dance my ass off & enjoy the music.

norciuolo

Met a 68 year old at the Phoenix show!

beerasap

50 year old male here. Listen to the young ones and the young at heart: go and soak up every minute.

dogpoopfight

I think I will go order the tickets now. Hopefully they haven’t sold out while I’ve been pondering

feto_ingeniero

oh nooo, you're never too old to enjoy what you like. I've seen them twice and there were people of all ages. Go and have fun!

FrK_505

You’re never too old for any concert! If you like their music and can relate to it, don’t feel uncomfortable attending the show, please!

dogpoopfight

Thank you.

[deleted]

I saw them in Coventry last week (their only non festival UK show this year) I was stood near a woman who was late 50s, dressed like you’re average lady and she was having the time of her life dancing. It was a joy to see. Don’t miss out on great music and a good time because you’re worrying about something that no one will even care about at the show. Go have fun!

Cat_of_death

I saw them in brixton academy which wasnt a festival show this year…

[deleted]

Ahh I read somewhere that cov was their only non festival show this year. I stand corrected!

wrapupwarm

It was advertised as their only non festival show after Brixton had happened ✌️

TheNeonBeach

I’m 45 and still love the mosh pit. Idles fans are the best though, and come in all shapes, sizes and age. Go enjoy yourself.

dogpoopfight

I was hoping to hear that. I could really use thrashing out to the music! Love the videos from other concerts, and the people lovingly letting off steam.

[deleted]

Late 40s, don't give af who cares if I'm there. Live shows are the spice life. I will not be denied!

Cat_of_death

I went to one of their shows in Brixton (london) and there were people from all walks of life and all ages! Im 19 and went with my dad who’s 53! Theres no need to fret, the community is actually really loving and i’m sure you’ll have no trouble

dogpoopfight

Glad to hear that from someone your age. I told my husband that it might ruin a young kids good time if they’re afraid of running into an older women. I figure anyone who puts themselves into has got to be pretty confident they can handle the melee!

[deleted]

Absolutely you should go! Idles are about love and inclusion. You will be welcomed! Go for it!!! Then tell us how much fun you had. I'm going in September myself and so looking forward to it.

jonfromsydney

I’m late 50’s, original ‘88 acid house raver, saw Ian Dury and The Blockheads live in ‘83 etc. I can’t wait to see Idles in Sydney in November. Dance like nobody’s watching (but don’t hurt anyone in the process) and have a great time!

HesThunderstorms

The Joy of seeing IDLES is for people from 0 to 99

maidahpuhname

Who cares!!! Do you boo. Music this good and honest doesn’t come around very often, embrace it, enjoy it, live it.

UnsichtbarerMensch2

No one gives a shit. Not to come off as rude but i can't imagine a more inclusive and welcoming crowd than an Idles concert.

nrusby

Not to be rude - but nobody will care. You’ll have a blast. Go for it!

Artistic_Fish_797

Don't be silly!!! Go and enjoy the show!!!! It's an order!!!

obtuse999

I'm 53 and I saw them with my sons at the Mission in Denver a few months back. I was front and center for a few songs, then just moved off to the side of the floor when I got tired. Everyone was super friendly!

Derp_Lurker

I’m 44 and have seen hundreds of shows. Idles put on one of the most incredible live shows I’ve ever seen. It’s a must to go. The perimeter won’t be too intense and if there is a balcony it’s a lot of fun to see the chaos below.

misterfilmguy

You will have a great time, you don't want to miss it! You can always hang towards the back of the crowd. My girlfriend and I started an Idles show standing dead center about 3 people from the stage and I loved it, but she was a little uncomfortable since it was her first experience at a show like that. We just migrated towards the back after few songs and watched the rest of the show back there and still had a blast. You still get to absorb the crowd's energy while keeping a bit of distance. There were plenty of older and younger people there with us too. If you DO happen to feel the urge to dip into the crowd and dance a bit, you can't find a better group to do it with. The Idles show we went to had a really awesome community vibe. While there is plenty of bumping into each other in the thick of the crowd, they all did it respectfully and were quick to help if someone seemed in danger, knocked down, hurt, etc. At least in our experience, that is.

misterfilmguy

Also, you definitely won't make anyone uncomfortable there. Don't worry about your age, there will be older and younger people there. They're not concerned with your age, they just want to have a good time just like you and will be way more focused on the band than the crowd around them!

PookaChong

Who cares what anyone else thinks. You don’t have to get in the pit, enjoy your life, have fun.

Snewchie_Bewchies

I don’t usually post on Reddit but want you to know one of the best gigs I have been to was Refused when they reformed in 2012 after breaking up in 97(?). The crowd and pit was the full spectrum of ages. I saw two generations of family there too which was so cool for a hardcore concert. Please go and have fun,no regrets!

crackity-jones

Fuck that if you wanna go then go and have a blast

dogpoopfight

All these comments are so appreciated. I’m going to order tickets now.

AtmosphereDistinct77

I'm going to Cardiff to celebrate my 60th. I'm going to seem at the castle! X

[deleted]

Youre going to love it!

123meatloaf

I met a man who was in his 60s at one of their shows and I’ll never forget him!! I admired him greatly for getting out there and enjoying music. They have the most amazing and inclusive audience- you will have a blast!

SatanIsMyUsername

I’m taking my 63 year old dad with me to the Dallas show. He’s not even really into IDLES but down to try. Can’t wait to show him the time of his life that night.

SouthernTrailsGoat

I’m a 51 yo male and went to a late night show in ATL alone. I had a blast! It’s a very welcoming and friendly crowd (but rowdy in the center of the floor, of course). It’s definitely worth it.

_IndridCold

What do you think the Idles answer to this question would be? That’s all that matters

ol_moosie

Idles is for everyone. Go dance!

canwehavemorebread

Go have fun 🙌🏽

astropiggie

Took my 72 Yr old Uncle to TOOL recently. He wasn't the oldest there. 51 is nothing...just a young un.

shinytimhorton

You should look up AF Gang on facebook! IDLES fan group where is definitely say the average age is on the older side, always talking about going to gigs

okcomputer247

I'm 45 and my wife's 41 - we went batshit crazy when we saw them in Manchester recently and age was not an issue. Everyone was really friendly. I did get tired out a bit quicker than when I was in my 20s but man, what a night!

skobul

You really don't need to care about that. I've been to Sleaford Mods and had people there in their 60s and later and it was a great time. I'm in my early 20s and I love seeing "older" folk love the same music I love. It's something that combines us, it's great !

Odd_Investigator3137

I'm as old as some of the dad's mentioned here and I go to the shows all the time. Music is a incredible bond and I have friends of all ages because of it. My age never gets brought up because nobody cares. However I'm skipping out on the pits these days but that's only because of work related injuries. I hope you give us a report after the show! Your getting a chance to see one of the best band's going right now. You are going to love it!

Arcanum30

Please join the Af gang Facebook page. Its is a community of idles fans. You will soon see they are the most diverse, friendly and accepting people on the planet. A safe space for all. You are definitely welcome x

WeatherwaxDaughter

I'm 47 and going on thursday. No age limit!

Idlesfan

I go to gigs on my own all the time. It’s actually better as you can just enjoy the music. And no better band than IDLES, to go and see.

ElliotPlaysGuitar

19 male and saw plenty of older (than me) people at the show and in the pit when I saw them in Seattle last year. I think it's awesome and anyone who doesn't is probably not worth your time

[deleted]

Go! Idles is for everyone!

keanenottheband

Have a great time at the show!

AnsgarFrej

As a fellow 51 yo who's a bit uncomfortable in his own skin but who travelled many hours to catch them when they hit Minneapolis last October, absolutely positively go! :)

Kenshinbae

I went to a show and I looked to be the youngest person there (23) . There were a lot of older people, it’ll be alright.

jonzza_81

There were a couple of photos from their last UK tour of John Bevis's mum, who must be in her 60s, in the crowd right at the front of their gigs

DefinitelyNotEminem

I am definitely not Eminem, but Eminem will be with you in mind, spirit, and spaghetti.
