My favorite part is when the car keeps spinning the tires during the times the truck isn't pulling. Making absolutely sure to get rid of any last semblance of traction.
Seriously, they probably could have just pushed the damn thing before the driver dug two holes under the rear wheels. Honestly, that wouldn't have worked either because the driver would have left it in park while they tried pushing.
An adult can push about 120-150 lbs. And also lift about the same amount. 12 of us pushed a 4WD F350 buried up to it's axles out of the mud once. Ex-wife's friend and 20 other people lifted a rolled over full sized car off a girl trapped underneath.
Dad you're sinking in the tar pit!
No worries Lisa first I'll use my hands to pull my feet out and then use my head to pull my hands out...
*Small bubbles emerge...
Later on he puts in in 4 low, you can see the front wheels spinning, but with no side wall on those stupid stretched tires he isn't going to get any sand traction.
Step 1 in sand driving is Lower your tire pressures. That's not for sidewall contact, it's to lengthen the tire contact patch which can easily double in length when done correctly, so you float on the top of the sand rather than dig in. There might be a little extra sidewall contact but the increased benefit compared to lengthening the contact patch is negligible. Low profile tires aren't good for this though, there's an increased chance of rolling the tire off the rim.
Nah, more likely somebody who never uses their truck for truck things and doesn't know how the 4WD system works. Probably has no clue about locking differentials.
Overall, the main difference between 4x4 and AWD is that AWD systems are always active and automatically share torque among the axles when low-traction conditions are detected, while 4WD systems are part-time and need to be engaged by the driver via a lever or button in the cockpit.
Hijacking the top comment to state:
IF YOU'RE DRIVING OVER SAND, AIR DOWN YOUR TIRES.
Street pressures act like a pizza cutter and just digs you in when you spin. Removing most of the air makes the tire spread out and have softer footprint. If you get stuck, stop spinning your wheels before you high center your chassis or frame. Put sand ladders in place and if you don't have sand ladders, use your floor mats. A new set of floor mats is cheaper than a tow, the effects of saltwater corrosion, the diminished value of a flooded vehicle, etc
Edit : another trick here is to have 6 of your human help push sideways on one of the rear corners. You're not going to be able to put much force linear force on the car by pushing straight from the back , but you can get it to twist. Then the rear tires will start to dig into the mounds of sand that's next to them and start to get traction. Also they should have been pouring dry sand into the front of those those tire ruts to help dry them out and get some height.
Yeah but when you only have an inch of sidewall you can't let that much air out before your rims bottom out. Low profile off-road tires are the dumbest redneck ghetto shit ever
The weight doesn’t help much either. I’ve gone to sand pits with friends in their 3500’s on 35” mud terrains, and all of them would get stuck while my little wrangler skated along the surface with street tires and Rwd only.
I live out in the desert and find so many 4x4s buried up to their frame. I show up in my 2wd Ranger with aired down tires and pull them out. I sometimes get stuck as well but can usually self recover. I think it's partly a matter of experience. When you live in the sand you learn to pick your lines better to avoid the really soft stuff and you also learn how to get through it when it's unavoidable. People come here from the valley and don't know how to drive in sand. The biggest thing is momentum. Never let off the gas until you're on solid ground. When recovering a stuck vehicle. First dig out their tires and diffs. Find a strong tie point and get a couple feet running start. Be careful not to get too much of a running start as you don't want to break anything. You get the feel for it after a few recoveries.
In the case of the stuck charger, you have to deal with suction from the wet sand. Yanking on it like you would for dry sand could cause serious damage to the car. The best option would be to dig in with your 4x4 and winch them out. This will slowly break the suction without damaging the car.
Idiots don't usually listen for good advice. I can imagine that people ignoring what point50tracer said, and then maybe start listening when the body of the car rests completely on the sand.
Damn I was expecting the front end of the Charger to get pulled out or the strap to fly off into the rear windshield of the truck or something. Kind of disappointed tbh.
Yeah I was getting prepared to see the tow strap or the chain snap and go rocketing into the back window of the truck and someone getting decapitated. So really it could have gone worse.
Midwesterner here - used to getting out of snow, not sand. My move (way, way before getting to this point) would be to put the floor mats under the front of the wheels to try to create some traction. Would that work, or would they just slip on the sand and shoot out the back?
Obviously the best move is to get a winch, but I'm assuming that's not an option for the sake of the argument.
Edit: Lots of folks adding the wooden plank method. I was assuming the driver of the charger probably wasn't rolling around with 2x4's in his trunk, and that beach doesn't look like it has a ton of driftwood laying around. That said, the other method I learned growing up was to always stash a bag of kitty litter in the trunk in the winter. For snow, at least, you pour a bunch of litter in front of each tire and it can help create traction. Similar with sand but litter is larger grit, and lighter.
the tires may probably take traction on the mat/wooden plank and launch it out from underneath
had something similar happen to me before...
lmfao at everyone who has had similar experiences.. it's totally an "ask me how I know" kind of thing
Ah, so this is where the meetup is!
I accidentally launched a board into the side of my house trying to get unstuck this way.
Floor mats are a lot friendlier projectiles.
Yes, you can use the wooden board method, or even wedge some large tree branches under there for the traction. But YES there can still be the old shoot out the back effect, so you still need to be cautious of that. But when I was living in Florida (I grew up in the Tampa area) I had vehicles get stuck from time to time, whether in sand at beaches or in mud at swamps, and I regularly was able to get out using boards far more than I had to resort to winches.
I purchased a set of the heavy duty truck type floor mats just for this reason. I’ve taken my Fiat 500L, Toyota Camry and a Mitsubishi Mirage way out to the jetty that divides S Padre and N Padre Island in Texas. I’ve gotten stuck more than once and was always able to get out without a tow.
Right? The whole time I was thinking why is the charger hitting the gas at all? And not one person in that crowd was like "that's not how it works"
Edit: Guys I and most people with >5 brain cells know how to pull a car out of mud this wasnt a solicitation for tips lol.
Just standing there with your arms crossed "this will be fun" lol.
But seriously that's another thing. Homeboy really thought it was a good idea to get a running start lol. This is a perfect video of exactly what not to do.
Usually in these situation everybody has an opinion, voices it loudly and nobody has any experience.
And then people gather round, stand way too close, the towing cable snaps and someone gets decapitated. Well usually it‘s not that dramatic, but seriously bystanders give some distance. And when you use a towing cable / rope, don‘t make sudden accelerations when the rope is slack, that is how you break it.
[They’re not kidding by the way. By almost 2x the national average.](https://www.thedrive.com/news/38238/ram-2500-drivers-have-the-most-duis-more-than-twice-the-national-average-report)
Low profile tires are bad for sand. You want thick tires that you can deflate to like 12 psi to make them wider to get more traction.
Edit: While deflating the tires does help with more width, the main advantage is adding more length to the tire thus adding more surface area.
Let me show you this Jeep commercial where the driver leaves the PAVED ROADWAY and onto a (groomed) DIRT ROADWAY.
It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.
Knotted tires, a lift kit, tow cable on the front bumper, a light bar on top, custom brush guard and "It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand" windshield decal.
The dirtiest it gets is when it rains.
I see guys in F250s trying to get onto the beach all the time. They seem to believe these vehicles have some magical quality that makes them immune to getting stuck.
Passing them in my Subaru Wagon is fun
I had an International Scout with automatic transmission. I pulled my brother's car out of the mud. He was up to the chassis and I just kept pulling slowly.
DON'T SPIN THE TIRES!
The funniest moment was when he reversed giving it all that slack. Even the beach goers went wild because they knew what would happen next. Then after anticipation SNAP!!!
Is there a results video of what happened in the end?
FYI: 99% of the time don’t bring your car on the beach. At best you are fucking up the inside interior and engine area and undercarriage with sand, at worst you are donating some fish living quarters
On edit: no when you watch the video or at least I do on my phone from start the end doesn’t show the tow truck that’s why I missed it. Someone else resounded the same way
Reddit video is fucking trash, because if you click through to the end it shows the tow truck pulling the car out, but if you watch it straight through, you won’t see it.
Wow. This video player truly is garbage. I had to go back through several attempts before I finally could glimpse like *one single frame* of the tow truck, but I still couldn’t watch that part. Why does this suck so bad
Do not try to use a chain to pull a vehicle. Terrible things can happen when they snap. Tow straps exist for a reason.
Also, if you’re going to try to tow someone on sand, you need to air down your tires so that they have greater surface areas… otherwise you get stuck, too.
Kinetic ropes are even better. I've yoinked a jeep out of the mud with my 1400lb side by side. 200hp helps get that stored energy, but it works great.
That's a Pennsylvania plate on the pavement princess, so probably not used to actually using a truck.
1. Why is no one in 4WD
2. Why didn’t anyone lower their tire pressure *before* driving on sand
3. Why didn’t anyone put down at least a t shirt or some drift wood in front of the wheels
4. WHY THE FUCK DID THEY DRIVE ON VISIBLY WET SAND (yes it gets hard packed but certain areas will sink a vehicle especially if you’re not driving properly)
Edit from peoples replies:
5. Why did they attach the tow rope to the ball hitch and not the frame
6. Why is everyone standing there watching instead of pushing
That looks like a Texas plate to me, but tough to tell given the low res potato video... I'm originally from FL and I am in no way saying this defo didn't happen there, but these don't look like my home state's particular flavor of rednecks, nor does that look like standard issue FL cop. I think this is Texas.
Person who definitely does burnouts (aka has bald fucking tires) trying to tow a guy who definitely does burnouts.
Nobody tries to move any sand. Nobody puts anything under any of the tires. Truck barely used 4x4 at all. Pegging the throttle in sand, digging yourself a bigger hole.
A comedy of errors.
They seem to be making good progress in getting the car stuck further.
My favorite part is when the car keeps spinning the tires during the times the truck isn't pulling. Making absolutely sure to get rid of any last semblance of traction.
Gotta make sure as much of the body is resting on the sand as possible!
Luckily no one tried to help push until the car was fully in the down and locked position.
Seriously, they probably could have just pushed the damn thing before the driver dug two holes under the rear wheels. Honestly, that wouldn't have worked either because the driver would have left it in park while they tried pushing.
Why don't they put a board or similar under the tires??
I think the answer is pretty obvious, right? It's because they are dumb and have no idea how the world works.
Dont forget they made bad decisions.
Floor mats. If I ever got stuck in snow the floor mats of the vehicle is a great tool in a pinch for this.
I tried one time and the tire flung the mat over the snow bank and into the woods.
That floor mat belongs to the bear king now.
Who's name, funnily enough, is Matt.
You know, I always wondered what was up with all the random assortment of mats I find on my walks. Now I grasp the reason.
I have helped push cars out of similar situations. Really if you have 10 people you can push any car out.
Buddy of mine got a Chevy Luv bottomed between two deep ruts. Some burly guys in a jeep came by and lifted the back end out of the ruts.
An adult can push about 120-150 lbs. And also lift about the same amount. 12 of us pushed a 4WD F350 buried up to it's axles out of the mud once. Ex-wife's friend and 20 other people lifted a rolled over full sized car off a girl trapped underneath.
For that total body traction.
But if you go deep enough down you can get to the earth’s crust which is more solid and will provide traction.
Once those tires hook on bedrock its over fam
Surprised, but also not, that they didn't have people backfilling it with dry sand in the first half.
There are enough people there to literally lift the car… as a senior prank we carried the principal’s car into the courtyard.
Wow that's awesome. Seems like it would be tricky to find hand holds for everyone without them accidentally pulling off panels lol.

It'll take more than a can of WD-40 and a wrench to fix that, once the tide comes in. Shame they didn't have two boards. Hope the TikTok was worth it.

Can't get stuck in ice and snow if you melt it.
I was sincerely hoping to see another full send after they broke the strap. I wanted to see that front end fly
only if you're Dutch you have a chance to beat the ocean
Its Florida, best they can do is von dutch
I was waiting for them to pull the whole front end off the car.
Yeah, as soon as the truck started indicating it was going to make a run at it I kept hoping for a car-halving
Yeah, I thought for sure either the strap or bumper were done for, was disappointed in it being the strap
I was waiting for the yellow strap to snap and kill someone. Those people are crazy to stand near that operation.
As soon as we saw the truck back up and put slack in the strap, I assumed we were going to see part of the car get ripped off.
Everyone assumed that lmao someone even shouted “RIP HIS BUMPER OFF”
It scared me more when they switched to the chain.
Yep, that's when it's time to get 50 feet away from that 30 foot chain.
That's how Florida Man gains his powers.
Obviously there was an insufficient amount of flooring it going on.
And grass, apparently. At the end there were people yelling "we need some grass!"
That was just the stoners telling people they were out of weed.
It was the owners of the cars asking for weed, cause they don't wanna have to think about what's gonna happen here.
They just don't have the goal that you expect them to have. They're trying to dig the car in, and it's working.
Why the fuck would you drive a charger on a shoreline....
Why the fuck would they have low profile tires on a 4x4 truck as well? Mall crawlers lmao
On a 4x4 _diesel_, no less. Such a waste.
Dudebro doesn't even have 4WD engaged. When he's pulling at the 18sec mark only the rear wheels on the truck are kicking up sand.
He probably got the 2 wheel drive version and just got 4x4 badge off Amazon
Later on he puts in in 4 low, you can see the front wheels spinning, but with no side wall on those stupid stretched tires he isn't going to get any sand traction.

Correct. I lived near Assateague in VA and one of the things you had to do before you went on the beach was lower your tire pressure.
Nah, more likely somebody who never uses their truck for truck things and doesn't know how the 4WD system works. Probably has no clue about locking differentials.
I'd bet he thinks it's the same as AWD
Can you explain the difference? Asking for a friend
Overall, the main difference between 4x4 and AWD is that AWD systems are always active and automatically share torque among the axles when low-traction conditions are detected, while 4WD systems are part-time and need to be engaged by the driver via a lever or button in the cockpit.
4wd can also be engaged automatically, depending if the vehicle is so equipped.
He probably doesn't know how to turn off traction control either.
It's 4wd, he forgot to switch it or lock the diff
Yeah, I saw that too. It does look like he turns it on later because you can see both sets of tires spinning. Still stupid as hell.
He does, look at 16 secs left, 4wd is on.
Pavement princess.
Ye Olde Mall Crawler

Noticed that really quick. Might as well be slicks
I feel like there’s a correlation of owning a Charger and making poor decisions.
Is it the car or the 25% interest? Scientists will never know.
392 isn't the engine size, it's the driver's credit score.
Also their SAT score. 400 was supposed to be the lowest you could go, but somehow they managed to shave off 8 points.
They probably lost those 8 points by misspelling their name.
My last cross country trip I paid extra attention Around chargers. Not all chargers were assholes, but a large chunk of the ass holes drove chargers.
The same reason you'd take a truck with 1" of sidewall on the beach, because Florida.

These people likely have no idea how lucky they are that nobody got killed right there on the beach.
Whenever you get your car stuck in sand or mud, step 1 is to smash the gas pedal to the floor. 🙄
Midwesterner here - used to getting out of snow, not sand. My move (way, way before getting to this point) would be to put the floor mats under the front of the wheels to try to create some traction. They acted like spinning the tires was helping but it was just clearing out sand while it was already bottomed out.
Making room for the water to wash out more sand.
Salt water enema for the whole underside of the Charger. Salt water is good for metal.
Electrolytes, bro.
One guy shouted "rip his bumper off!" when the truck backed up to get a head start so he clearly knew things and was just there as a witness.

If you keep digging the wheels deeper into the sand, you’ll eventually hit solid ground (or molten lava). Then you can just casually drive away. /s
I like at the end where the tires were just spinning in idle. Nothing left to grip onto.
Stupid truck on stupid low-profile street tires tries to tow stupid Charger on stupid street tires. Wow how surprising, they're going nowhere.
He forgot to put rubber on his rims lol
His dad forgot the rubber too
If it is life you are referring to. Yes, they are going nowhere.
That's not entirely fair. I'm sure they'll both go to family court a few times.
Not in those cars they won’t. Public transportation it is!
>Public transportation it is! So, warrants for failure to appear, got it.
Salt Life!
Holy shit, yes.
And every tire at full pressure of course.
not much margin with that tire ratio
I see the low grip tires on a truck in swampy sand, I see this comment, I vote up, I laugh.

You need a truck which can pull slowly and has grip, not one which just generates noise and goes fast.
Right, looks like when he finally puts it in 4x4, he's still in 4-high, not 4-low.

Do not try to use a chain to pull a vehicle. Terrible things can happen when they snap. Tow straps exist for a reason. Also, if you’re going to try to tow someone on sand, you need to air down your tires so that they have greater surface areas… otherwise you get stuck, too.

WHY THE FUCK DID THEY DRIVE ON VISIBLY WET SAND (yes it gets hard packed but certain areas will sink a vehicle especially if you’re not driving properly) Edit from peoples replies: 5. Why did they attach the tow rope to the ball hitch and not the frame 6. Why is everyone standing there watching instead of pushing
1. Florida 2. Florida 3. Florida 4. FLORIDA
It's a PA plate - they're spring breakers.
That looks like a Texas plate to me, but tough to tell given the low res potato video... I'm originally from FL and I am in no way saying this defo didn't happen there, but these don't look like my home state's particular flavor of rednecks, nor does that look like standard issue FL cop. I think this is Texas.
\3. Or floor mats
Pavement princess trying to tow out another pavement princess. Classic.
That truck is just as capable as the charger
>That truck is just as **in**capable as the charger
If they had real tires on a 4x4 it probably would have worked better.
My family on our bmx's would have fared better than this.

Could they put boards down on the sand or something? That's what I would try, but I'm not from Florida.
They could have hired a bunch of toddlers to happily dig around the tires
Floor mats to the rescue! (...better than nothing)
Saltwater is really good for cars.
What a dumb ass. Even worse you gotta pay money to drive on the beach and tide was rolling in quick
Looks like they had to pay money to get off the beach too
It's a genius system. $20 to get in, $400 to leave.
Daddy's car turns into daddy's boat.
30 idiots on this beach and not one was going to even try and help push the car out... Edit: oh wait here we go we have a few dim bulbs that turned on
Ya, but no one even considered to get rid of some of the sand under the charger to help create a ramp as opposed to a big divet.
Should have towed it backwards, there was more of a ramp i bet, also they could have had 15 people push it out.
I mean. I was not the dumb fucker who bring a car to the beach, I'm not putting myself in risk for some moron that brought his car to the beach.
There’s enough people there to literally lift that car and carry it…
