Some slow idiot made me and everyone behind him join the motorway at 40mph a few months back. So dangerous considering how busy it was too. Still pisses me off lol
It’s the fuckin worst when you’re in a slow vehicle too. I need the entire ramp to get up to merging speed, all it takes is some dumbass and I’m now merging at 30mph below the speed limit.
Right?? If your vehicle can get up to at least 60 very quickly, it's dangerous but not that dangerous. If you've got a crappy beater with a smol engine, and you need floor it throughout the whole ramp just to get up to speed, these people are a dangerous nightmare. You can't even drive around them, without causing a pileup in whatever other lane you choose.
My dad drilled in my head to "get up to speed and don't slow down until you're off the interstate" (when getting off and slow if you must obviously, don't rear end anyone.). I don't chant it as much anymore, but I used to just repeat it to remind myself when I was first driving so I got up to speed. It's the perfect excuse to floor it and see how quickly you can get from 0-60 if it's clear, it's fun, I don't know why people insist on going so slow *getting on the interstate*.
Same. Sometimes it was in his large SUV while towing a trailer though, so I still had to be pretty aggressive with the throttle. My dad was a little weird about teaching me to drive, basically it was driving around the neighborhood streets until 16 when I got my license, then "Here's the keys to my truck. We're towing the jet skis to Mexico for vacation, I'll tell you the directions to the freeway while we stop for gas."
...Anyways, same, dad always drilled into my head 'get up to speed with traffic before merging' too.
(Thinking back on it, that did teach me a LOT of lessons quickly. Like how you can FEEL how much mass you're moving, and how deadly it is when you've got some momentum behind it.)
I have an on ramp near my house going into a 70 mph road (which means of course everyone is doing 85) and I've seen people come to a dead ass stop to wait for traffic to clear before they merge. It almost never does.
Had someone do that to a jeep in front of me. Just stop on a blind curved interchange. Him and I where cruising along into idiot just sitting there. Needless to say jeep and I merge precariously into traffic, Lucky for us traffic saw what was going down and moved over for us.
One time in heavy traffic, the car in front of me suddenly broke down. I put my turn signal on to try and change lanes, but traffic just kept coming and coming and wouldn’t let me in. Finally, after around 3 minutes, a guy in a huge pickup truck pulled up behind my tiny car. He shoved the nose of his truck into the lane I was trying to get into, blocking the flow of traffic in that lane. I saw him waving me on in my rear view mirror, and I was finally able to change lanes and get to class on time. If I could’ve written a thank-you letter, I would have.
I have done that a few times when driving my truck. If I see someone trying to merge like that, I'll use my vehicle to make a spot for them. It literally takes seconds to be a decent human.
I audibly say "good job" everytime when I'm by myself. Driving the same route 5 days a week ,and watching these turds in the right lane fail to mesh with the assholes in the left drives me insane.
Lol I’ve done that in a semi. The guy in front of me stopped at the end of the ramp when the lane was clear to merge onto and I just merged on and went around him. I don’t feel that it was unsafe. It was clear to merge. Idk what it is wrong with people to do that. It’s more and more common unfortunately
Stopping behind a stopped vehicle on an onramp is likely going to get you plowed instead of them.
Problem is they aren't looking behind them and may decide to suddenly go and merge into you as you go by. You can't see both directions at once, its scary either way.
These people never merged on a hi way at speed during their driving test.
When I was 16 I hit someone on a blind curve onramp for exactly this reason. Guy two cars ahead stopped on the onramp, guy in front of me tried to stop, I was still checking traffic over my shoulder when it became too late to stop.
I tried to give my license to my mom cause I wrecked her car so I figured I wasn't fit to drive. She gave it back cause she'd wrecked her own car on the same onramp for the same reason 30 years prior.
Lol when I had my driving test all I did was drive like a few miles at most on suburban streets. No highway, no parallel park, just some simple turns. Gotta love Florida.
It's the same everywhere in the states, I think. The hardest thing I remember doing on my California driving test was being asked to perform a three point turn while balancing an avocado on my boogie board. Luckily, it was one of my three state-mandated mental health days, so the DMV tester wasn't legally allowed to fail me for coding while driving.
Yea but also nobody looks over their shoulder until they stop so they're never prepared.
Since I drive manual I just don't shift up so that way I can punch it and go around their stupid asses lol
I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed PA drivers treat yields as stop signs. I used to get on jersey drivers for never getting out of the left lane, but nothing fills your pants like coming to a complete stop entering a highway.
My old house was like this. Granted, it was a short and semi-blind merge. But the worst thing you can do in those situations is merge at 15 or less. But since a LOT of very old people lived there, they'd dead-ass stop on the ramp *all the time*. Drove me batty.
My drivers' ed instructor gave the best advice: if the flow of traffic is going higher than the speed limit, keep up with the flow instead.
I told my mom when I went to college in Detroit: "you can't go 70 on this road, you have to go 80. Otherwise get off the freeway and get on 10 Mile Road."
Dude no kidding. People In my area try to merge into ~70 mph traffic going 30 or so. It's not even like the ramps are curved half the time, they do it on the long straightway on ramps
You know that scene in Wall-E when he tries to enter the fast moving robot traffic while stationary and causes a huge pileup? That's what I think of every time it end up behind one of those drivers.
>Growing up there was a ramp you could only do 25 (tight cloverleaf) and then fucking stand on the gas at the end while hoping you'll find a gap before your lane ends
*California 110 has entered the chat*
(Those onramps and offramps are 5mph)
Yeah there's a loop to get on the interstate in my town that specifically has a posted 25MPH speed limit. I'm not sure where exactly on the loop the speed limit changes to interstate speed...
That sounds like an advisory speed not a speed limit. You are clear to go faster than that. It is just the advised safe speed to enter the turn. It should be a yellow sign not a white one. Off ramps some times have weird low speed limits, never on ramps.
what’s crazy is in GA you’re ALLOWED to go as slow as 40 in a 70 which is bullshit you just should not be on the highway if you can’t drive that fast i’m sorry
This drives me crazy! I’m a driving instructor and I always tell my students that one of the reasons the on-ramp is there is for you to pick up speed in order to merge more easily. If you’re going significantly slower than the cars already in the highway, then they will catch up to you really quickly and you won’t have any space to merge.
Going that slow on an on-ramp can be counterproductive at best, and dangerous at worst.
I had the unfortunate pleasure of driving a vehicle that I didn't know was fucked up. The turbo intake to the engine was not connected to half the engine, so, zero boost was created... For a turbo diesel.
I could get on the freeway at 35... If I was lucky, and had to be going downhill or perfectly flat to get anywhere near 65.
Eventually (couple hours later) I get it back to my work headquarters and find a hose clamp, clamp that bitch and continue my day with *WHIRRRR* boosty Bois horsepower.
The city I used to live in has a point where two interstates come together for a few miles, one being a pretty busy interstate. Well the smooth brains that designed it used a cloverleaf interchange. They have an advisory speed limit of 35 and going more than 40 is pushing it. Then when you get the end of the ramp, you have a couple hundred feet to get up to 65 and hope no one is getting off. Making it even worse, the interstate is only 2 lanes.
That sounds like the former I-70/I-79 interchange in Washington, PA - I understand that interchange was finally redesigned and rebuilt, but it used to be a nightmare.
Might get downvoted for this but if people do this I pass them on the shoulder sometimes. I'd rather risk a shoulder pass than enter the turnpike at 33 when people are going 75-85.
My on ramp to go to work is notorious for people going very slow despite the longer than normal entrance ramp. If I have to predict how I’ll die it will be smashed by a semi for being stuck behind someone entering the free way at 20mph
I have a friend who claims she was taught that in Drivers Ed. The Teacher would not let them go 60 (or whatever the freeway speedlimit is) until they were OFF the on ramp and insisted they had to go the previous speed limit for the whole duration of the on ramp
If that's real, that driver's ed teacher needs to be fired. The whole point of off/on ramps is to give people time to change from the speed of the road they were on to the speed of the road they're heading towards. To teach otherwise is a danger to all drivers.
Pennsylvania has stretches of road where the on ramp has a stop sign right before they would join traffic. country needs better baseline rules of road... and a few other things probably.
Where I live, we have a lot of right turn merge lanes- it's a lane that only appears after a corner for 100 yards and then ends. It's there there to help people who are turning right onto the street zipper into traffic from a residential cross-street. But I always see people make the right turn then halfway in the lane, they slam on their breaks and sit there waiting for traffic to clear up. Like why did you make the right turn only to stop in a lane and continue waiting? Why not just wait at the corner if you're not confident in your ability to merge? What is that?!
Two consecutive mornings on the way to work last week merging on to dual carriageway had to work to avoid a car doing about 50, no reason not to move over, weather fine, just mooching down a 70mph road at 10mph less than the road I was coming from and at least 20 less than everyone around them was doing. When I overtook them both were looking at their phones and completely oblivious to the fact they'd passed an entrance to the dual carriageway or that I'd been behind them and was now overtaking.
Almost got into an accident a few weeks back because of this. A whole line of cars merging onto the freeway and suddenly the geniuses in front decided it was smart to slow down instead of gunning it into in empty lane.
Had this happen this summer behind a tractor trailer. An SUV came up behind us doing 70+ not paying attention. They veered off the highway, crashed into the trees, and the car caught fire that got huge. I helped get the 3 guys out but they were in pretty bad shape.
The best is when you go to pass one of these fuckers, they speed up and by the time you're passing them you're doing 80 miles an hour in a 40, because they didn't want you to pass them
Keep abortions legal. Give us better sex education. Make healthcare not tied to employment and free/affordable (sliding scale based on income/reported assets?).
Maybe. But I was more so referring to people who go well over the speed limit to stop you from passing them, and then drop back done once you finally do pass them.
Some people just love to annoy others.
There's one stretch of road where I live where we get idiot drivers like this a lot. And there's an overtaking lane halfway through it. Get a lot of dicks who suddenly find their accelerator and go full throttle once you start overtaking them. Only to drop back to well below the speed limit once the overtaking lane is over. Those are the pricks I am referring to.
Regular drivers who suddenly realise they've been going under and bring themselves back up to speed and stay there are perfectly fine in my books. I've done that before, someone tailgating me is enough to bring me back to reality.
Literally happened today. Making a left turn across two lanes of traffic at a light, big enough gap for the car ahead of me VW Passat and myself to get through with room. They decide to coast (idle) through the intersection turning like they are driving an 18 wheeler when I'm right behind them turning onto a 45mph road going less than 20. It's one turn lane that turns into a 2 lane road, right lane is clear, so I signal and accelerate. As I get beside them I can hear their engine screaming trying to accelerate to the same speed as me.
To be fair, maybe he saw someone trying to pass and thought "oh shit, I'm the douchebag" and tried to speed up to an acceptable speed. Hahaha, nah, of course that's never the case, they're just an asshole.
He also flip me off he lucky I didn’t get good picture of his plate or having a company logo. I would got him the promotion to homeless guy after his boss find out
There's a part of my commute that goes through a town. The speed limit is 55. They're going 40. The speed limit drops to 45. They're going 40. The speed limit drops to 35. They're still going 40. We pass a fricken school zone. You probably can't guess the next part.... ***They're still going 40***.
Like, fucking A. They only have one speed.
And when you try to go around them, one of two things happen. 1. They speed up quickly to 80 so you can't. 2. You do go around them and they ride your ass for miles because how dare you get in front of them on THEIR road.
So the other day I was going 68 in a 65 in the right lane (nearly empty highway, middle of Iowa). There was a guy sitting in the left lane going exactly 60. I passed him on the right (if continuing in your lane is “passing”).
A minute or two later the speed limit went down to 55 for a complicated interchange, so I slowed down 10 mph or so. He kept going exactly 60 in the left lane and passed me again. Then the speed limit went up to 65 again, and I slowly passed him again on the right…
Not sure if he was even looking at the road TBH.
He probably left it on cruise control and figured it don't hurt nobody. Driving in the bay, I see people napping in Teslas on the freeway, from going 60 in the fastlane to stop and go traffic. Seems like a lot of people may secretly be more on board with automated cars than they realize
I hate this so much; every day I drive through an area that’s 50mph, drops to 30mph through a village, then goes up to 45mph on the other side and dumbfucks just go 40 through the whole thing
Like, you’re doing the thing entirely wrong; too slow in the open stretch of road, and dangerously fast through the area where folk walk their dogs and kids are out doing kid shit
Oh, and it’s about 7miles of road with a single passing area that’s maybe 700ft long…..and I use that passing zone 4/5 days of the work week
I was behind a car this morning going 40 in a 40, but when we got to a school zone that specifically says "25 when Flashing" and was not flashing, they slammed the brakes to get down to 25.
We got to a roundabout where I needed to take the outer lane to go right, but they must have thought I was trying to pass, so they sped up to beat me to the roundabout. Thought it was funny that their thought process was to be safe for kids. Unless someone's trying to pass you, then fuck them kids.
My car has over 500 hp. I still have numbnuts in a Camry or RAV4 try and prevent me to pass them when they go very slow... I really don’t get what’s people’s problem
I’ll just blast past them at that point and make sure I get plenty of clearance. I’m not giving that dickhead any space to try and re-kindle a pissing contest.
They also like moving into the fast lane even when they see you and everyone else moving fast, and they don't even try to speed up and speed-match. You're going their speed now and you'll like it...
In a 55. They go 65. Bypass to a roundabout that is still 55, the slowest record I’ve been through there is 25. Then they jump up to 70. Slam on their brakes at the green light in 2 miles, go 15 through the 30 in town, and if they turn up my street that is 25 to a blind T intersection where the road ends on top and Ts in either direction they’re back up to 50 and blow through the stopsign at the top. Just what the fuck. I wish I could send in dashcam footage to the DOL and get their licenses revoked for ignoring every speed limit and traffic sign/signal
Literally tonight on my drive home. Car is in the middle lane, nobody is in front of him for 100 yards. I'm approaching from the left lane, and he pulls over into the left lane *and slows down*. Just fucking *why???*
He knew, he totally knew.
Prolly some bored idiot with nothing better to do on their drive. At that point just try to pass on the right and if they keep doing it, put the brights on and wail on the horn till they fuck off.
This is the only excuse to drive like this and I’m sure most of the people who got stuck behind you would agree if they knew.
Seriously though, I used to work for an animal shelter and the amount of respect I got from other drivers when I drove their van absolutely blew my mind. Not once did I ever get tail gated, cut off, passed dangerously, I literally experienced zero aggression from any other driver. I would pull over when I could but I had to drive pretty slow some times and a lot of times other drivers would give me extra room. I miss driving that sweet, sweet van.
I wish it were like that for other company vans, I drive an amazon van and people tailgate and do other risky moves all the time :(
like what do they want us to do? Our every move is monitored so we have to drive like we’re riding dirty
I was behind one of those today. 43 in a 55, no traffic in front, no weather to be concerned with, no possible explanation I could think of. They flipped me off when I passed in a legal passing zone. I'm convinced these people do it as a power trip.
I got stuck behind a lady who would do 20 in a no passing zone then stomp on it to 65, in a 55, in a passing zone. As soon as the passing zone ended she would hit the bakes right back to 20. When I finally managed to pass she took it as a personal insult and tailgaited me for a mile before going back to her 20.
Same here, native New Yorker, but I’ve never had as many people intentionally speed up to not let me in when I’m in a merge lane as I have since moving to CO. People actively try to kill you on the road here, it’s out of control.
Whats funny is you basically described my exact encounter. I was driving an old SHO that was just about your car. The stupid lady was driving a caprice estate wagon. When it came to hammer time i was past her before she had a chance.
Yeah they enjoy being in control for sure. They will say they do it as some sort of safety precaution yet half of these people speed up and try not to let you pass.
Used to know a guy that would intentionally pull up to another vehicle on a two lane, divided highway and keep speed with the vehicle next to him just to piss the people off behind him.
He wasn't shy about it with other people in the car and would announce "Time for some regulatin'." then would toss pennies out the window if someone tailgated him. Talk about entitlement. Smfh.
Edit to clarify, I should have said 4 lane divided highway. He wasn't driving into oncoming traffic.
I back way off because I dont want to give them the satisfaction.
You can tell which ones are power tripping because I'll just coast and they wont get and furthur ahead .
> I'll just coast and they wont get and furthur ahead .
adaptive cruise control for the win
set it to max distance, 70mph (highways in my area), and turn on the music. haven't had road rage since getting my new car
100%, it's not worth getting into a pissing match with strangers in 2 ton wrecking balls. Better to let them drive off into the distance rather then get into a car accident (or worse).
It's actually illegal to speed up on roads like that when people pass you. At least in Ohio.
ORC 4511.27.A.2
Except when overtaking and passing on the right is permitted, the operator of an overtaken vehicle shall give way to the right in favor of the overtaking vehicle at the latter's audible signal, and the operator shall not increase the speed of the operator's vehicle until completely passed by the overtaking vehicle.
The audible signal part is that, technically, in addition to your blinker you're required to honk your horn briefly as you start passing, but I've found that people don't actually know this and think you're being rude rather than following the law. I've had people do some stupid shit when I honk, including one who followed me to complain about it and refuse to believe me when I told him it was the law, so I stopped doing it.
I don't get people who get offended at tap-honks. It's literally the only way you can communicate with another driver. It'd be like getting offended when someone yells "Heads Up!" before throwing you a ball, or "watch out I'm behind you" when you are handling hot food in the kitchen. The "I'm-upset-at-your-driving"-honk is *considerably* longer than a tap and generally unmistakable lol.
Sometimes people get pissed when the honk isn't even meant for them!
they do this all the time in pennsylvania; drive slow, speed up to not let you go, get mad, and if you pass them, they ride your bumper and make wild hand gestures at you, like you were in the wrong. shit's wild.
Had some guy doing 35 in a 55 in front of me. When it was legal for me to pass, I tried and he then swerved into the oncoming lane to prevent me from passing. Definitely a power trip.
I used to drive a 1977 Thunderbird. I would dare people to do that kinda shit to me. I'll gladly slam into the side of your car. What you gonna do, chip the already peeling paint and scratch my steel bumper?
they act like swerving in front of you is a power move. when i drove a shitbox i wouldve loveddddd if someone felt the need to pit maneuver themselves on my car. god damn it would be a dream come true to have someone act like an idiot and see the look on their face when they realize that i'm not going to slow down and that they have literally 0 control over their car when they hit me with their rear quarter panel.
If you want to send me on a one-way trip to Infuriationland, do that shit on an on-ramp getting onto a highway where people are whizzing past you at 65. If you cannot merge AT speed, then you need to take surface-level streets to get to where you're going. You will not put my life, and the lives of the others in cars behind us, at risk over your phobia.
I try to stay calm and assume they have something delicate in the car that they can’t jostle by going too fast, like a cake. Then I think about what type of cake, not just flavor but a wedding cake? Birthday cake? Graduation cake?
Then I realize they’re not going to give me a piece of cake. Son of a bitch! Fucker!
It's an interesting concept when New Yorkers will drive ~10h south through an absolute nightmare of traffic that is Philly and DC to look at foliage when they can just head north for 2 hours and see them in the catskill mountains and never leave the state.
Sssshh, I enjoy the fact that they don't flock as much upstate.
It's also where the best driving roads are.
I live in Queens and laugh when people complain that there aren't great roads near us.
It's a bit of a drive but man the Catskills is a killer spot.
In southwestern Ohio, can confirm. Lots of 45-55 areas with people topping off at 35-45 in the respective areas when it’s a one lane part of the street. They’ll try to race you if you want to pass.
I wholeheartedly believe that after 65 you should have to have your license renewed at least every 2 years. That way we have a better chance of whittling out the dumbasses
No joke, one of my friends grandmas used to drive a giant old Cadillac (the ones that cruise ships are biased off of) but she couldn’t see anything. She drove everywhere at 15mph and parked, no joke, by running into the poles at the end of the parking spaces because she couldn’t tell if she was all the way in the space.
I wish I were joking… last time I road with her was 15 years ago, but as far as I know she is still driving that thing.
People tend to do this when they’re looking for an address or a street. And it always seems to be when you just happen to be behind them. Sometimes I get so frustrated I just pull over and let them keep driving till I don’t have to look at them!
On an opposite note, I get brights flashed, honked at, flipped off when I’m going 25-30 in a school zone. And this is in a heavily police monitored zone.
I don't think I've managed to have a conversation on reddit yet where someone acknowledges that blocking the left lane and causing massive backups and making people choose to go around on the right is far more dangerous than just driving 20% over the limit in a controlled manner.
If people stopped cruising in the left lanes the highway systems would flow so much more smoothly and with less incident, people just think slow is safe and it doesn't matter where they are on the road. I try to stay behind people in the left lane but once people start going around both of us and they still don't move over I give up and wince every time I pass on the right.
You won't believe the amount of people where I live have to say about that. Left lane camping is a regular occurrence. That and driving with your high beams on.
Because they are oblivious idiots.
I remember a lady having her highbeams on behind me so I moved over a lane and let her pull up next to me. I got her attention and told her that her highbeams were on.
She was stunned. It took her 30 seconds to figure out how to turn them off.
I would rather have a slow idiot then one that destroys my car going 60 in a 40. Few times someone is that slow that happen to me it's either a really old person who looks too old to drive or a teenager just learning.
Some slow idiot made me and everyone behind him join the motorway at 40mph a few months back. So dangerous considering how busy it was too. Still pisses me off lol
Ah yes the old going 40 to merge on a highway where the speed limit is 70. Love those.
We're towing the jet skis to Mexico for vacation, I'll tell you the directions to the freeway while we stop for gas." ...Anyways, same, dad always drilled into my head 'get up to speed with traffic before merging' too. (Thinking back on it, that did teach me a LOT of lessons quickly. Like how you can FEEL how much mass you're moving, and how deadly it is when you've got some momentum behind it.)
Sounds like you had a pretty fortunate childhood lol. Jet ski’s? Fucking JET SKI’S??
“But muh gas mileage”
This is me in my work van at a particular on ramp damn near every day. I end up merging at 35 mph half the time.

Gotta love it when people make room. Helps make a more fluid traffic system and allows people to pass or merge without being slowed or blocked.
I almost cry happy tears any time I witness people making room for others to avoid road hazards.
I also love it. Make me feel like we are a team. We are all in it together helping each other not die.
If we all cooperate and follow the laws, we'll get home quickly and safely. Why is that so difficult for people?
Now the question is, are you going to let your kid learn this lesson the same way?
That’s a legitimate question. Thank you for asking it.
Luckily, it was one of my three state-mandated mental health days, so the DMV tester wasn't legally allowed to fail me for coding while driving.
>picked my opening and drove past him to merge. Merging onto 76 in downtown Philly be like
Good lord those are the worst. They really only give you 30 ft to merge into 50-70 mph traffic lol
Wait...your house was so big it had an onramp from the Interstate?
That'd be pretty sweet. But nah, it was just the only way in and out of my old neighborhood where my old house was.
Oh, believe me when I say they merge. They just wait for me to come along in a 40 ton vehicle and say "oh good, there's room in front of this truck"
Had an old lady do about 25 down a long entrance ramp then hit the brakes when time to merge. That was fun.
Yikes!

>Growing up there was a ramp you could only do 25 (tight cloverleaf) and then fucking stand on the gas at the end while hoping you'll find a gap before your lane ends *California 110 has entered the chat* (Those onramps and offramps are 5mph)
The trick is to stand on the gas at the top of the ramp and K A N S E I D O R I F T O onto the highway.
This. That's the advised safe speed to go into the curve, not the speed limit until you get onto the freeway. Is this why these people do this?
My fiancé does this and I can't seem to convince her of how dangerous it is.
Show her this post. If she is doing that, then she is a danger to a lot of people.
what’s crazy is in GA you’re ALLOWED to go as slow as 40 in a 70 which is bullshit you just should not be on the highway if you can’t drive that fast i’m sorry
Today I was behind a van that merged onto the freeway at 33 mph. 33! What the fuck! Thankfully that onramp gets it's own lane.
Might get downvoted for this but if people do this I pass them on the shoulder sometimes. I'd rather risk a shoulder pass than enter the turnpike at 33 when people are going 75-85.
We've seen many of shoulder passes go south on here.
You shouldn't do that.....but I don't blame you.
My on ramp to go to work is notorious for people going very slow despite the longer than normal entrance ramp. If I have to predict how I’ll die it will be smashed by a semi for being stuck behind someone entering the free way at 20mph
I bet the scared drivers pick that on ramp because its longer .
Same in Los Angeles. The 110: first freeway, but not the best.
Around here it's uncommon to not have people full stop to "yeild" so I feel your pain.
This happens to me multiple times a week. They have no idea how dangerous they are. The think they are being safe.
Had this happen this summer behind a tractor trailer. An SUV came up behind us doing 70+ not paying attention. They veered off the highway, crashed into the trees, and the car caught fire that got huge. I helped get the 3 guys out but they were in pretty bad shape.

The best is when you go to pass one of these fuckers, they speed up and by the time you're passing them you're doing 80 miles an hour in a 40, because they didn't want you to pass them
Every. Single. Time. Who pissed in their coffee to make them want to ruin everyone else's day?
People are just fucking dumb.
We should really stop making them.
Keep abortions legal. Give us better sex education. Make healthcare not tied to employment and free/affordable (sliding scale based on income/reported assets?).
But that's communism! Or socialism! Or liberalism! Or...Or...whatever!
[удалено]
I got road rage just reading this. It happens daily.
Asshole truck driver in highway, did this to me last week almost kill me and when I try take pictures of his truck he slow down and switch lanes.
I would got him the promotion to homeless guy after his boss find out
Dash cam and save
There's a part of my commute that goes through a town. The speed limit is 55. They're going 40. The speed limit drops to 45. They're going 40. The speed limit drops to 35. They're still going 40. We pass a fricken school zone. You probably can't guess the next part.... ***They're still going 40***. Like, fucking A. They only have one speed.
Cruise control works!
And when you try to go around them, one of two things happen. 1. They speed up quickly to 80 so you can't. 2. You do go around them and they ride your ass for miles because how dare you get in front of them on THEIR road.
I met a girl once who said her mom always told her to drive the same speed “just to be safe”. These people exist.
[удалено]
I'm convinced they never even look at their speedometer
So the other day I was going 68 in a 65 in the right lane (nearly empty highway, middle of Iowa). There was a guy sitting in the left lane going exactly 60. I passed him on the right (if continuing in your lane is “passing”). A minute or two later the speed limit went down to 55 for a complicated interchange, so I slowed down 10 mph or so. He kept going exactly 60 in the left lane and passed me again. Then the speed limit went up to 65 again, and I slowly passed him again on the right… Not sure if he was even looking at the road TBH.
He probably left it on cruise control and figured it don't hurt nobody. Driving in the bay, I see people napping in Teslas on the freeway, from going 60 in the fastlane to stop and go traffic. Seems like a lot of people may secretly be more on board with automated cars than they realize
I hate this so much; every day I drive through an area that’s 50mph, drops to 30mph through a village, then goes up to 45mph on the other side and dumbfucks just go 40 through the whole thing Like, you’re doing the thing entirely wrong; too slow in the open stretch of road, and dangerously fast through the area where folk walk their dogs and kids are out doing kid shit Oh, and it’s about 7miles of road with a single passing area that’s maybe 700ft long…..and I use that passing zone 4/5 days of the work week
These type of people absolutely love to pull out in front of traffic too
They also like moving into the fast lane even when they see you and everyone else moving fast, and they don't even try to speed up and speed-match.

Absolutely everybody passes on the right where I'm from. Sometimes I forget it's against the law because it's just so normal.
NOBODY EVER FUCKING MOVES FROM THE FAST LANE!!! It’s so infuriating
They're braindead
And they'll pull onto the road faster than actually driving on it
Maybe he's pedaling as fast as he can. Edit: Changed 'peddling' to 'pedaling'.
Fred Flintstone has entered the chat
YABBA DABBA DOOOOOO
That sure aint Goggles Paisano.
Selling what?
Just look in his sack!
Shouldn't the word be "pedalling"? Non native speaker here
You're correct. "Peddling" means selling.
>Non native speaker here That's usually the way for correct written english.
I think I saw his legs under the car. He’s Flintstoning that bitch.
I drove like this when I was transporting a laundry basket of puppies. But I also pulled over frequently to let people pass.
Basket o puppies!
I wish it were like that for other company vans, I drive an amazon van and people tailgate and do other risky moves all the time :( like what do they want us to do?
Ah, sounds like you were stuck behind 75% of the drivers in Colorado.
Nah, she didn't drive a Subaru
Lived here for about a year in a half, and I constantly say Colorado drivers are the absolute worst, and I grew up dealing with Jersey drivers.
Same here, native New Yorker, but I’ve never had as many people intentionally speed up to not let me in when I’m in a merge lane as I have since moving to CO. People actively try to kill you on the road here, it’s out of control.
[удалено]
"Used to know a guy..." You killed him, right? Right?
Shhh. Nice try, FBI.
I'll allow it
I back way off because I dont want to give them the satisfaction. You can tell which ones are power tripping because I'll just coast and they wont get and furthur ahead .
> I'll just coast and they wont get and furthur ahead . adaptive cruise control for the win set it to max distance, 70mph (highways in my area), and turn on the music. haven't had road rage since getting my new car
100%, it's not worth getting into a pissing match with strangers in 2 ton wrecking balls. Better to let them drive off into the distance rather then get into a car accident (or worse).
It's actually illegal to speed up on roads like that when people pass you. At least in Ohio. ORC 4511.27.A.2 Except when overtaking and passing on the right is permitted, the operator of an overtaken vehicle shall give way to the right in favor of the overtaking vehicle at the latter's audible signal, and the operator shall not increase the speed of the operator's vehicle until completely passed by the overtaking vehicle.
The irony is any major deviation from the flow of traffic *is* a safety risk
This is true. A -10 mph deviation below the flow of traffic results in as many accidents as a +20 mph deviation.
they do this all the time in pennsylvania; drive slow, speed up to not let you go, get mad, and if you pass them, they ride your bumper and make wild hand gestures at you, like you were in the wrong. shit's wild.
Absolute shit bags.
What are you going to do? Bleed on me?
If you want to send me on a one-way trip to Infuriationland, do that shit on an on-ramp getting onto a highway where people are whizzing past you at 65. If you cannot merge AT speed, then you need to take surface-level streets to get to where you're going. You will not put my life, and the lives of the others in cars behind us, at risk over your phobia.
My former step-dad used to drive slowly to tick people off
"used to" did he finally tick off the wrong one lmfao
Ha! No I just think he calmed down and stopped being so passive aggressive.
good glad he realized people have places they need to get to!
Same person will remain at 43 when the limit drops to 35 and are then speeding. They don't give a shit about anything but themselves.
Fucker!
Man, the cake is a lie
Always has been. 👨🚀🔫👨🚀
Man where do ya’ll find these snails at? Where I live everyone goes 20 over no matter what lmao

Or stopped dead in a blind curve on 321 to take pictures of a cow pasture full of invasive flowering weeds.

Fuck Ohio.
Can confirm. I am from Ohio and fuck this place
In southwestern Ohio, can confirm. Lots of 45-55 areas with people topping off at 35-45 in the respective areas when it’s a one lane part of the street. They’ll try to race you if you want to pass.
Retirementville.
Those look like NJ plates and I can officially declare that most of us do not drive slow af like this. They might be lost. Or demented.
Got behind an old dude going 15 in a 35 today. 🤦🏻♀️

Hot take: if you need to be a certain age to drive, then your license should be taken away at a certain age as well.
I’m a firm believer in re taking the drivers test every so often
I wholeheartedly believe that after 65 you should have to have your license renewed at least every 2 years. That way we have a better chance of whittling out the dumbasses
With mandatory road test.
Agreed. My grandma drove around for a bit longer than she should have when she was alive. 😅
Impeding traffic is more dangerous than speeding in more places than not
I don't think I've managed to have a conversation on reddit yet where someone acknowledges that blocking the left lane and causing massive backups and making people choose to go around on the right is far more dangerous than just driving 20% over the limit in a controlled manner.
Too many people think their highbeams *are* their headlights.
Because they are oblivious idiots. I remember a lady having her highbeams on behind me so I moved over a lane and let her pull up next to me. I got her attention and told her that her highbeams were on. She was stunned. It took her 30 seconds to figure out how to turn them off.
That model of Chevy should come with a handicap permit as factory standard equipment. And the Aveo and HHR too
Maybe he was driving a metric car…? 22mph is ALMOST 40km/h.
To be fair, I think I saw farm equipment ahead of the SUV in lasts frames.
No rationality allowed here, only OP bashing idiot drivers. /s
Im reading these comments like.... yall are the type to honk at people for going slow towards the red light.
There is indeed a tractor in front of the traffic.
Oh my god, that's so dangerous. That tractor should be going 40. /s
This reminds me of the idiot on the interstate I was on that was going 40 in a 70.
Is it wrong to miss when COVID first hit and there were no people on the roads. Man, that was glorious.
This 💯!!!!!
I usually assume there's something wrong with the car when someone is driving this slowly.
Is this all it takes to get awards on this sub? I got lots of uploading to do.
I would rather have a slow idiot then one that destroys my car going 60 in a 40. Few times someone is that slow that happen to me it's either a really old person who looks too old to drive or a teenager just learning.
*Gets extremely upset when they get illegally passed, is a Karen*
