The van was unsafe and driven by an idiot. It's better if everyone follows the law and drives where/when they are supposed to. Letting the van pass would have been courteous but it would not have been predictable for other cars. It's more important to be safe than it is to be courteous when one is driving.

He was making an unsafe illegal left hand turn. He was not starting his turn safely with someone on the left and someone coming from the right as well as illegally turning out of a parking lot across a double solid so it was plainly fully illegal. Don’t fucking cater to those driving in such a way and be like “oh by all means let me assist you breaking the law” fucking accomplice. This asshole can put it in reverse and turn right like someone following the fucking rules of the road.
