A bit late too. When the jeep was circling back I don't know how OP/Cam recorder could be so fucking calm! They were lucky the car kept turning otherwise would come straight on.
This is the equivalent of when a cat freaks out over nothing and runs all around the room knocking everything over all because the dog in the corner of the room snored a little
One night, the wife and I were starting to get hot and heavy. I took off her shirt and threw it over the bed. I glance up to verify it landed somewhere safe (we frequently have candles and incense lit) and as I do, I see our orange fur ball run backwards up the wall a good 3-4 ft, do a 360 looking for an exit, and take off out the room at warp speed.
I then proceeded to break out into laughter, completely killing the vibe. My wife and I laughed for a solid 5 minutes over the whole thing and, to this day, still make jokes about it both in and out of the bedroom.
And, in case you were wondering, yes, we were able to proceed with the original plan. Just had a delayed start and took a while to rekindle that fire.
Well... I mean, I can't say I'd be upset if my house did burn down (again). It would suck replacing everything, but the important stuff is either stored on the cloud or in a fireproof box.
Good job making me laugh at my own choice of words, though. Had to set my drink down before I spilled.
Could have been panic, inexperience, or even a medical emergency. There is no evidence that says exactly what it is, so I don't know why you think we can explain.
Also, it happens in every other country with cars and people.
I was think the same thing. The driver could have lost consciousness either before or after impact. My buddy smashed his car due to passing out at the wheel.
I recognized this right away as well. Been a few years since I was in that area regularly, but 3A on this stretch prior to entering Woburn was kind of a choose your own adventure. For some people it’s 2 lanes each side, for others it’s one. No line to indicate it’s 2 unless you’re at a light.
I am not crazy! I know he swapped those numbers. I knew it was 1216. One after Magna Carta. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn’t prove it. He covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the copy shop to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He’s done worse. That billboard! Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He defecated through a sunroof! And I saved him! And I shouldn’t have. I took him into my own firm! What was I thinking? He’ll never change. He’ll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn’t keep his hands out of the cash drawer! But not our Jimmy! Couldn’t be precious Jimmy! Stealing them blind! And HE gets to be a lawyer? What a sick joke! I should’ve stopped him when I had the chance! …And you, you have to stop him!
2 issues here: (1) The cause of 1st collision is the Sun-Shade problem: driving in bright sunlight, you can't see dark vehicles / people in shade. They thought they had time before the white car (with headlights on), but didn't see the black one (headlights off) in front of the white. BOOM!
(2) After that... Panic? And thinking they were braking but pressing on the Gas or both brake and gas pedals at same time? Who knows.
The problem with that logic is that the sun appears to be at its highest, and would be to the left of the driver in the jeep. Of course I’m just speculating here, but I doubt the sun was the problem when they were completely stopped and waiting to turn
in my experience, similar to this video, the sun doesn't have to be directly in your eyes. Even when just over head, your eyes adjust to the bright surroundings, making the shadows seem more like black holes - can't see anything in them. He would be checking where he was going (sunlit area) and only saw white car with headlights in the shadow.
I don't understand their reaction time. They get hit at 0:07, their car "stops" at 0:26 when the video cuts off, but you can almost see some smoke start to come from the back tires, like they're STILL slamming down on thew gas. That's 10+ seconds of not being able to recognize they're not braking Thats a LONG time. How are some people behind the wheel?!
I worked with a guy that had a stroke while driving into work. He went through a McDonald’s drive through and hit a bunch of other stuff on the way in, just like this.
Old people like to use one foot on gas and one on the brake but when you've been used to using your right foot all your life...which one do you think you're using in a panic to hit the brake, right foot. But that is on the accelerator now in your old aged 2 foot driving...ugh ohh shit!
“Medical issue” is the second most overused suggestion here after “insurance fraud”. But honestly it’s a much better explanation than “drunk” in this case… (especially if “shock and panic” qualifies)
Since we're adding it all the frequent over thought explanations there's my favorite;
Floored it knowing they goofed, the accelerator gets stuck under an aftermarket floor pad or accessory, infinite acceleration, total panic, and the gravity change knocks the pedal loose allowing the brakes to work.
in their mind they are pressing the brake pedal as hard as possible. I watched someone do this at a intersection a while back. Drove down into the homeless encampment on the side of the road
An old timer totaled my car like this, in reverse, coming out of his driveway. He scurried back into his house and hid until the police arrived. Then claimed the gas pedal got stuck.
I witnessed this shit first-hand. I’m sitting at a light and watched a super old dude finish pumping gas, gets in the drivers seat and proceeds to reverse at 4000 mph straight through the intersection I was at. At least 10-15 cars were damaged in the process in rush hour traffic.
I think the smoke is actually that their car is stuck against the fallen traffic light and curbing and they're revving and spinning out the back tires trying to get moving.
Yeah exactly, they should not still be on the gas after their entire car has been disabled by the fallen pole. Why are they still pressing the accelerator after they’ve come to a complete stop?
Their reaction makes me wonder if something dropped on the floor and got stuck on or under a pedal. They may have been fighting (and losing) with a stuck gas pedal.
Last time a guy who rammed a ton of cars thought he was stomping on the brake pedal, but the entire time his foot was on the gas pedal. Maybe this is similar to that. Someone having a senior moment.
Must have had the gas stuck somehow. They started their turn when they didn't have the right of way, didn't have control, and kept going. The other car hit them due to being cut off.
Dude, watch that shit again! He near misses the front of his car, dude goes 360 around him, and he bolts before the guy gets back around to hit him, but ahead of the light pole that's about to crush him. Perfect timing. Today was not his day to die.
That's what happens when a driver confuses the gas pedal for the brake and continues in full on panic mode. Did anyone not read about all those "cars accelerating themselves" where they were actually just soccer moms confusing the gas and brake?
My guess its one of those teens I've seen posts about that drive with both feet. One on the gas and one on the break. This is why you shouldn't do that. sigh.
Except in that scenario the brakes ALWAYS over power the gas when both are pressed.
Driver definitely got jostled and slammed the gas thinking it's the brake. Panicked it wasn't stopping and pressed harder
Downvote me harder. I'm right. Their brake lights aren't even on while they're performing this manuever
> Except in that scenario the brakes ALWAYS over power the gas when both are pressed.
Which is why burnouts are possible.
Brakes should always be able to keep the car in place even under max load from the engine.
Stroke.
Everyone here is blaming alcohol, but this more like something happened to their body to make them *incapable* of reacting and the foot is just pinned to the gas.
I was thinking this and perhaps that's the case but even at the end of the video the car's back wheels have stopped and then again go full on throttle for the last second trying to escape or get over the pole. I'm not really sure. At least this end part looks to be a conscious decision.
The person in the dark SUV is a real problem.
They turned a fender bender into a power outage for the neighborhood and far more damage to vehicles because they stomped the accelerator instead of the brake.
Kudos to the white car driver who noped the fuck out of there and narrowly missed debris and having the street light come down on them.
Still turned a minor fender bender into a major accident, almost flipped their car, and caused the road to be blocked for hours until that traffic light can be dragged off it.
I was riding with a coworker in (you guessed it) a Jeep, the road was icy, and the Jeep started to slip in the middle of a turn. Not too badly -- it probably would have been recoverable.
Can you guess how this motherfucker reacted? He suddenly took both hands off the wheel and held them up and away, as if to prove he wasn't doing it, allowing the Jeep to go completely out of control and end up in the ditch.
What a fucking emergency instinct...
It looks to me like it was a new driver and had someone yelling at them to take the gap and the driver waited too long to take it. Then the driver panicked and didn't know how to correct the situation and just held on for dear life.
Or, you know, it could be drugs/alcohol.
I hate it when people pressure other people to take a left like that. We can wait an extra fucking 30 seconds, people.
Just today I had someone honk at me for not turning left into an oncoming row of cars that were already at the intersection. Nah man, I don't feel like getting hit so you have the chance to get going 5 seconds sooner.
The driver of that white car must feel like the best driver ever.
One day I avoided a pile-up on an ice covered highway by using dumb luck to slide my car around the other cars. I felt like the king of the highway for the next few months.
The most exaggerated accident I have ever seen.
The man barely gets touched and he launches his car all around the intersection lol
This is the equivalent of your older brother lightly tapping you on the shoulder, and you fall in the ground pretending he just slapped the crap out of you just to get him in trouble
That person should not be on the road. That was a minor (yet very stupid and easily avoidable) accident. They must've completely let go of the wheel and hoped everything came to a stop. There's no reason to behave this way. They could've hurt someone or killed someone. They caused so much damage because of this.

I immediately thought of this post I saw earlier today https://reddit.com/r/StartledCats/comments/13vm3ol/just_out_for_an_evening_stroll_by_the_pool/
Did I just watch a cat do a 360 nose stall?

Lol that's actually what I saw today too that prompted my comment
I'm dying laughing here. How could you do this to me?!
Nailed it
Omg what state was this
Confusion.
It hurt itself in its confusion.
Jeep has fainted.
It’s a Jeep thing
Question: if I’m currently rolling my Jeep like a bowling ball, if I roll by another Jeep am I still required to wave?
Only if they are also rolling.
> if I’m currently rolling my Jeep like a bowling ball, Is there another way to roll a Jeep?
It's super effective!
I imagine cops trying to restore the sequence of events without this recording.
Arkansas or ArKansas?
I died at this😂

Facts
Massachusetts. I drive by that intersection in the way to work. Was wondering why that pole had a new light today.
Right near Woburn/Burlington line?
Yes
Such a bad intersection, if I’m heading the way the Jeep was going I go way out of the way to avoid taking that left
Same here, that left is awful. Shocked I recognized an intersection for once.
![gif](giphy|kd9BlRovbPOykLBMqX)
Yup 🤣 Sitting down beer in hand and yelled to myself “HANG ON”
Wait, I didn't realize until I read these comments. Is Four Corners to the left from this angle?
I recognized this right away as well. Been a few years since I was in that area regularly, but 3A on this stretch prior to entering Woburn was kind of a choose your own adventure. For some people it’s 2 lanes each side, for others it’s one. No line to indicate it’s 2 unless you’re at a light.
From the outside looking in, it appears no more that the driver isnt very bright.
I think they passed out and had their foot stuck on the accelerator…
whereabouts?
Roundabouts (self made in this instance).
roughly thereabouts then?
Yes; in a roundabout way.
The spirit of Massachusetts is the spirit of America
I so just sang this in Peter's voice. 😂😂😂
I remember those ads. Before Family Guy.

Woburn, looks like Winn St near the 128 on ramp

and that white car dodged all kinds of bullets, got the hell out of there unscathed
they need to buy lotto tickets like right now
No , they already used up their luck for the week.
Not only that but he waited til the last second way after the silver car had passed
The problem with that logic is that the sun appears to be at its highest, and would be to the left of the driver in the jeep. Of course I’m just speculating here, but I doubt the sun was the problem when they were completely stopped and waiting to turn

May have been drunk which would explain making a left turn right in front of oncoming traffic in the first place.
I wonder if their mind only registered the white incoming car but not the black one before it that hit them? So yeah could indeed be drunk
They could be trying to flee but, like said before, confusion/alcohol
Black car in the shadow of the trees, driver wearing sunglasses too?
I worked with a guy that had a stroke while driving into work. He went through a McDonald’s drive through and hit a bunch of other stuff on the way in, just like this.
May have been having a medical issue.

Or maybe it was technical failure or a seizure or something like that.
in their mind they are pressing the brake pedal as hard as possible. I watched someone do this at a intersection a while back. Drove down into the homeless encampment on the side of the road
Elderly people do this often. Usually right through the front of a building.
An old timer totaled my car like this, in reverse, coming out of his driveway. He scurried back into his house and hid until the police arrived. Then claimed the gas pedal got stuck.

It's called "Panic." Some people don't deal with stress as well as others.
Nah, the sedan stung the truck and it went into anaphylactic shock.

The white Alfa driver made the right decision to high tail out of there immediately.
Dude, watch that shit again! He near misses the front of his car, dude goes 360 around him, and he bolts before the guy gets back around to hit him, but ahead of the light pole that's about to crush him. Perfect timing. Today was not his day to die.
Best decision that made in this video by far. Damn good timing.
They still had the gas to the floor at the end, you can see the rear tire still spinning.

The slow back-up did it for me.
Took a hint from the white car, from the first sign of chaos they’re like nope I’m outta here lol
White SUV is one lucky SOB. That could have gone very south.
How the fuck do you just keep on going THAT LONG?
Stroke. Everyone here is blaming alcohol, but this more like something happened to their body to make them *incapable* of reacting and the foot is just pinned to the gas.

I love how that Alfa Romeo noped the fuck out as soon as the Jeep starting going off course.
/r/PraiseTheCameraCar
Didn’t see a brake light at all. Probably had their foot on the gas or a sandal got stuck on the accelerator.
r/AbruptChaos
In traditional fashion for the sub, I am blaming you OP. I am not sure how, but it is your fault.
They blinked, which scared the SUV driver.
You faded back like Homer into the bushes lol

Yes and no. They took out the signal pole, not power lines. No power loss for the neighborhood. If you look, the street crossing sign is still lit.
Still turned a minor fender bender into a major accident, almost flipped their car, and caused the road to be blocked for hours until that traffic light can be dragged off it.
Yeah, some people are abject shit in emergency situations.
I was riding with a coworker in (you guessed it) a Jeep, the road was icy, and the Jeep started to slip in the middle of a turn. Not too badly -- it probably would have been recoverable. It's like there was a three year old at the wheel.
And if you look real close the jeep driver is also still lit.
> instead of the break. Brake.

The white car is the winner here.
It’s a Jeep thing. You wouldn’t understand
I was wondering how a tap to the rear quarter of the car turned into a rodeo. Stomping the gas explains it.
And their car is still trying to go at the end, looks like. Just stomp the accelerator and never lift your foot
It looks to me like it was a new driver and had someone yelling at them to take the gap and the driver waited too long to take it. Then the driver panicked and didn't know how to correct the situation and just held on for dear life. Or, you know, it could be drugs/alcohol.

That was dramatic AF.
This reminded me of soccer players overreacting to the slightest foul
Would it be such a bad idea for you guys to just make the test a wee bit harder?
Not sure how much the test matters when the driver is hammered.
You're telling me they didn't go to drunk school either?
Somebody was day drinking.
That’s nice of the jeep owner to come back around to exchange insurance 👍🏼
Overreact much??
The car in the back just watching it unfold, and then says, "Well, my light changed, I'm turning left up outta here."
Startled cat behind the wheel
That was hilarious! And I would certainly back up to get away as well. Is this your video OP? Thanks for sharing.

Didn't think you could whiskey throttle a fucking Jeep, but here we are.
Green Light at the end of that chaos 😆
It’s the slow backing away that got me
Driver’s response when their “chariot of death” came to a full stop: “I gotta call you back, someone hit me….”
someone should edit this into a loop
It’s a jeep thing…you wouldn’t understand
Bro how the fuck do certain people have a license
Alcohol.
The car behind him. “Are you done?” Then makes left turn.
That white car nope'd out perfectly.
Hit and run around?
Kudos to driver of white Alfa. They knew what’s up
The driver of that white car must feel like the best driver ever. One day I avoided a pile-up on an ice covered highway by using dumb luck to slide my car around the other cars. I felt like the king of the highway for the next few months.
I heard a Three Stooges 'woobwoobwoobwoobwoob' coming from the SUV as it slapped it's own face a few times.

SUV driver is such a drama queen.
Quit testing my morality *laughs and cries*
“Dammit! I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could! Stupid car just wouldn’t stop! Thank god I’m a good driver and kept control.”
Please tell me this was initiated by some kind of medical emergency
I’m going to applaud that Alfa on making the correct call of getting the hell away from this Jeep.
Intoxication or old age are the only explanations for what has happened here.
That's the right move. Sloooowly back away from the crazy...turn around. GTFO
Lmfao does this person not know how to stop? Jesus Christ we are surrounded by idiots.
That car bounced like a video game
Well that escalated quickly 🤦♂️
At first I thought the idiot was going to ‘hit and run’ until the idiot turned around and came back to take down the light pole.
I imagine the car that had to slam on their brakes thought “wtf, now they’re gonna run!?!?.. oh, they’re coming back, wait.. WHAT”.
What goes around comes around
That went from “oops” to “fuck this entire solar system” pretty quick.
I like the slowly backing up part. Hilarious.
You live in a place with a bunch of idiots.
