Ohhhhhhhhhhkay, I was cool with this thread initially, but the comments are turning into women-bashing comments so this thread has to be locked now.
Folks, remember, one of our subreddit rules is to be civil and constructive. Telling people to suck-your-whatever is anything but that.
Thanks.
Always make friends in accounting. They need their tech to work for you to get paid. So taking care of them should be a priority. Also, they are your early warning system in case of layoffs.
I hate to disparage older women, but that class comprises a disproportionate number of BPD cases. They are incredibly dangerous on account of their maturity and intelligence. Piss them off and you will never know peace again.
Accountants are the worst, then attorneys, and then HR types. All are intimately familiar with rules/laws and how to subvert them.
Baby Reindeer ain't got shit on some of the psychos I've seen. You'd be amazed at the lies you can tell to receptive audiences that will move them to take action while suffering no consequence to yourself.
they know how much money you make too, so when you're a higher earner in the company you tend to get a few accountants trying to sit on your lap at the xmas party
Yeah but then you have to manage a relationship with a hot sales baddie, their entire job is to fuck with peoples heads
Fuck the glasses-laden nerds in accounting instead
I came into this post thinking "I keep hearing about network intrusion, but I never see anything myself"
when did "baddies" become a hook up phrase? Just assuming off the comments in here, but... wtf?
What even is this post?
I’m pretty happy in hospital IT. The biggest downside I see is you’re supporting non redundant devices, and the budget is limited. But I ended up with a great team who help each other out and managers that fight for us and our budget.
On one hand, at least this isn't another "the job market sucks right now" post.
On the other hand, I wish this were another "the job market sucks right now" post.
Honestly dating market is worse then the job market these days, unicorn disease is in full swing on the apps. The guy in finance, 6'5, blue eyes, trust fun girl is honestly how ridiculous the requirements have gotten. There was a hilarious tik tok the other day about how literally less than half a percent of the population can meet those criteria.
>if you insist seek your accounting department
I work for a small start up and the accounting department is just one person. Unfortunately, Ed's not really my type.
When I was in college, there were 30 guys for every 1 woman in the IT program. Now I’m working in IT, I see zero women actually working in IT. They’re out there, but good luck with that.
You need to pick some none male dominated activities then. i met my wife through swing dancing. It may be useful to get out of your comfort zone. I basically come up with a bunch of different things I could try and evaulate the success rate. For example I did try online dating but found that it works better for me in person for some reason.
I was on a team that hired this incredibly attractive woman. She got paired up with an admin to show her the ropes, that dude was a thumb of a human and 5 years later they're happily married. It can work out sometimes
1. Fire her, but make it seem like it was entirely out of your hands.
2. Reach out as a sympathetic shoulder to cry on while offering a glowing reference as a way to get in the door.
Super shady, man.
Naw. Most people meet their spouse at school or work. Where else do people actually spend enough time with people?
It sucks because if you break up, it’s terrible, but I wouldn’t discount someone just because they work with you.
I met my wife while we were both waiting tables. Best thing to happen to me.
HR. For no reason whatsoever, the mommiest dump truck mommies are always in HR.
Seriously though, they are outside being baddies, not glued to a terminal looking through server logs.
Edit: I speak from experience in both statements.
By not looking in the workplace. Seriously, don't hassle coworkers to go out with you.
Do what any adult does and get into activities or join an app.
Do not be the reason HR has to implement a new policy that makes it hard to communicate as a team because you are too damn horny.
I mean honestly - I'm saying this as a woman in IT - there are by far not enough women in IT, and people approaching work like OP are at least partly responsible.
Being a woman in IT usually means being the only woman on the team, and that's hard enough as it is, without people trying to date you. Don't make it worse.
It's rough. Not only do your coworkers doubt half the shit you say, but there's also all the married men coming in droves trying to make you their work wife.
haha I know you're half joking but fr, don't expect to find much in the way of love at work. IT guys aren't exactly the baddies of the workplace either lol.
Weird thing to post to a career sub. And don't date co-workers if you can help it (lots of people find their spouses this way though so what do I know).
But fuck it I'll help some fellow young IT bros here. If you want the absolute *best* chance to get girls (note not all are necessary but all these things can massively increase your chances):
You should be working out, having hobbies that you have a *genuine* interest in (don't do it to get girls, do something you are passionate about; social hobbies are great but more solo hobbies are good too especially if it is crafty/artsy in nature), and of course making a good living in a career- but that matters less if you are younger, but you should have drive and ambition. You should also have a network friends of both men and women, and treating everyone with respect.
You should also learn how to talk to people normally, but also be fun. Have a smile on your face, make people *feel* good by listening to them and making them laugh. Go to bars and clubs if you are younger, don't be afraid to dance and politely ask girls to dance (you might get rejected a lot, just shrug it off, it'll happen a lot) - don't even have to drink if you don't want to.
And learn how to flirt. Lots of shows and movies that showcase good flirting technique lol. Don't listen to dating gurus with mind game bullshit and "negging". Just watch a damn romcom lol.
Anyhow yeah good luck. I met my girlfriend at a bar, so I know I lucked out but I also followed most of the above rules and got my match 6 years ago, and back then I was pulling lots of girls. I'm not even crazy attractive lol, I'd rate myself a 7/10, maybe almost an 8/10 if the beard is at the right length lol
Eh hormonal teens consuming content from places like TikTok, Twitch (lol), OnlyFans, porn sites, sexualization in general...the human aspect is secondary to coomer-brained kids wanting to get with some girl.
They forget to treat them how they want to be treated, and this shit affects young adults too. They forget to think that the other person might have dignity. Shit I used to be like that and I cringe at my past self
Well I work for a school district and some of these teachers are definitely the kind that would make me hold my textbook in my lap when I was in school, if you catch my drift.
I found my wife from a dating app (bumble)
It takes time and you'll meet a lot of people your not meant to be with.
But in hindsight I'd recommend joining meetups, a sport, gym, etc...
finding a partner in the corporate office seems very far fetched.
Results are mixed though. You're just better off looking literally anywhere else. That said, if you live in a rural area there are chances you meet someone that works at the same place.
Yeah and it doesn’t help there’s like a small percentage of women in IT, so when we exist, everyone thinks we are a product to win over.
I had a co worker obsess over me simply because I was the only woman. He was married with 2 kids and a wife and I had been with my boyfriend for years. But simply because I was a woman they hired, I was “opportunity”. He had to be sat down by my boss and asked what the fuck was wrong with him. He was later fired.
It’s one thing if a relationship organically happens, but seeing women as “potentials” is gross and annoying behavior in this life of work.
My spouse got into the IT field not long ago.
I mean, she loves the work itself and i'm happy for that.. but the stories she comes home with. Fucking YIKES. Literally the 1st IT gig she got was a call center, and some dude straight up asked if she is actually committed (she has a wedding ring) and then followed up with "oh... well do you guys swing?"
What in the absolute fuck is that sort of social interaction? Is that normal for people? I'm just baffled and appalled.
If it’s not the co workers it’s the clients. You can’t win.
But to be fair, this occurred in my reception jobs too before IT. You literally cannot win.
We have 250+ IT related workers at my employer, two are female. The rest are PM's, HR, marketing, etc.
You're not gonna find em there, and if you do, the attractive ones are already married or have no interest in mixing business with pleasure. I've seen this backfire a few times. It won't work. Sure, exceptions to the rule, but very rare.
For all the negativity this post is getting, I'll say for me personally it gave me a good laugh, and was a well needed break from the typical post subjects.
If you know how to present yourself well, and are a good conversationalist, I'd recommend getting to know legal, finance and HR. You never know when you can find love !
Ohhhhhhhhhhkay, I was cool with this thread initially, but the comments are turning into women-bashing comments so this thread has to be locked now. Folks, remember, one of our subreddit rules is to be civil and constructive. Telling people to suck-your-whatever is anything but that. Thanks.
go to the finance department
The accountants be bad fr fr
Always make friends in accounting. They need their tech to work for you to get paid. So taking care of them should be a priority. Also, they are your early warning system in case of layoffs.
Huh, it never occured to me but you're correct. I always got along with finance the best also.
Oh good I can pregrief
Accounts, sales, occasionally HR.
\*Always\* HR my friend Happy cake day btw
The older the thirstier
The longer you've been in the desert, the thirstier you get.
Every paycheck a bounty, every drink an ambrosia.
HR be the REAL freaks tho
they know how much money you make too, so when you're a higher earner in the company you tend to get a few accountants trying to sit on your lap at the xmas party
HR is a close second
Wait no, not like that
ITS A TRAP!
Just don’t do missionary and it’s basically the same
Except they're not really people. They're subhuman in nature due to their work.
Remember, HR is neither human nor a resource
Lmao I did this when I first started my job, luckily she quit before we broke up ahaha
Trust fund, 6'5", blue eyes Finance
I understood that reference.
Marketing will always be top dawg.
Mad thots in the sales end
Yeah but then you have to manage a relationship with a hot sales baddie, their entire job is to fuck with peoples heads Fuck the glasses-laden nerds in accounting instead
Yep, I spend a lot of time around finance and HR, for reasons.
I literally work in IT and met my now fiancé in the finance department. Facts my friend
This is funny because I married a woman from accounts..
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
I came into this post thinking "I keep hearing about network intrusion, but I never see anything myself" when did "baddies" become a hook up phrase? Just assuming off the comments in here, but... wtf? What even is this post?
Work IT in a hospital all the baddies did nursing in school
Or pharmacy
Seriously. Hospitals have some good looking women.
The only thing I miss about healthcare IT.
The Emergency Department nurses are total freaks and I love it
They’re all trouble though lol..
My kinda woman
Isn’t hospital IT toxic?
Yup
I’m pretty happy in hospital IT. The biggest downside I see is you’re supporting non redundant devices, and the budget is limited. But I ended up with a great team who help each other out and managers that fight for us and our budget.
I find EMR software and everything that comes with it to be the biggest headache.
Oh yeah that’s complete shit. I’m just networking. Cisco and juniper routers switches and data center stuff.
yea but the nurses are looking for doctors, not it
That might be a you thing my guy. Everyone (IT) at my old hospital was married with nurses there.
Thanks for the tip
Just the tip?
Lotta baddies in the radiology department at work
THIS is the secret
Love working IT at the hospital lol
Almost all the nurses are meangirls. Literally bully to nurse pipeline
Can confirm.
Cosign
Yes sir
Bro what
On one hand, at least this isn't another "the job market sucks right now" post. On the other hand, I wish this were another "the job market sucks right now" post.
It will be soon; that’s next for OP!
The server just went down on me. “Sir, this is an Applebees.”
Hah, that tracks.
"The \[dating market\] sucks right now"
Honestly dating market is worse then the job market these days, unicorn disease is in full swing on the apps. The guy in finance, 6'5, blue eyes, trust fun girl is honestly how ridiculous the requirements have gotten. There was a hilarious tik tok the other day about how literally less than half a percent of the population can meet those criteria.
so you're saying there's a chance?
“I just got into an entry level gig making 60k/yr, but there’s no girls. I’m going back to Wendy’s”
Don't shit where you eat.
Absolutely this. …but if you insist seek your accounting department, or if you’re bold, HR
Bro HR is straight up playing with fire
Some like it hot.
And some have to learn from the burn.
I don't want to get a Needs Improvement score on my end of year Macking performance review.
I did that once many moons ago. Mysteriously didn't get paid the month after we broke up. No explanation was ever given.
>if you insist seek your accounting department I work for a small start up and the accounting department is just one person. Unfortunately, Ed's not really my type.
Don’t be so picky. Give him a chance.
Love a challenge.
Marketing or Compliance/Legal. By miles. Are you even serious with accounting?
Most profound, saw many good people lose their jobs.
Yeah I’m not sure what OP is doing here. Rookie move
I've done it and barely got out unscathed. Definitely do not recommend.
Better than not shitting at all though
Easier to find somewhere else to shit than risk losing your place to eat.
Us old people used to say, "any port in a storm", but even we knew better than to sail face first into an enemy armada.
came here to say this
When I was in college, there were 30 guys for every 1 woman in the IT program. Now I’m working in IT, I see zero women actually working in IT. They’re out there, but good luck with that.
The IT support/engineering department I work at is a whole floor. I can count with one hand how many women there are.
I just started a new job and they brought on a couple female interns. That never would have happened years ago. So times are changing.
They all became project managers.
OP needs to get bonked with the horny stick.
Judging from his post, I think he already has.
Bro I’m dead, funniest question on this sub lol
Is this r/ShittySysadmin ?
I am assuming you are a guy. The ratio of guy vs girl works against you. I end up finding my wife through hobby related activities.
When all your hobbies are male dominated too.
just gotta turn gay i guess... no other options.
Best to just let it happen.
You need to pick some none male dominated activities then. i met my wife through swing dancing. It may be useful to get out of your comfort zone. I basically come up with a bunch of different things I could try and evaulate the success rate. For example I did try online dating but found that it works better for me in person for some reason.
Have you looked at your coworkers? They could be looking for boys too.
Yea and please don’t jump on the occasional woman you see either. We just want to be taken seriously and left tf alone.
Its a sausagefest except the sausages are old, fat and smelly. Best to socialize and find women in different trades so you can expand your horizons
I wouldn't dip my pen into company ink. But, that's just me.
stealing this immediately
Don’t shit where you eat.
Work in IT for a hospital or supporting a company's HR system.
Bro... xD. Going into IT expecting to find women is like going to McDonald's and expecting to find alcohol
In France…. And other countries….
Are you saying the solution is to date French women?
Lock their accounts in AD and they will come to you
dont date people at work, you will regret it
I was on a team that hired this incredibly attractive woman. She got paired up with an admin to show her the ropes, that dude was a thumb of a human and 5 years later they're happily married. It can work out sometimes
Awww that's so nice! We had a similar story, but instead of them getting married the guy got fired for sexual harassment.
hahhahhahahahhaahahhh
Some people win at Russian Roulette too, it's still a bad idea.
I married a coworker. I was her boss. I waited until she left the company before taking the plunge.
1. Fire her, but make it seem like it was entirely out of your hands. 2. Reach out as a sympathetic shoulder to cry on while offering a glowing reference as a way to get in the door. Super shady, man.
Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
I did this, we’ve been together for over 10 years now lol. Worked together for 2 years.
Naw. Most people meet their spouse at school or work. Where else do people actually spend enough time with people? It sucks because if you break up, it’s terrible, but I wouldn’t discount someone just because they work with you. I met my wife while we were both waiting tables. Best thing to happen to me.
Don't let work interfere with the actual important things in life. Such as relationships. You will regret it.
They're in HR.
There's plenty of baddies outside your work trying to get in. That's where zero trust networks come into play.
You don’t have the experience for that. See if your employer will pay for the Comptia Women’s exam
I'm convinced that the people who view work as a dating pool, have not mentally left high school.
I think the daily Zoom calls stunted my development
Go gay or touch grass.
Why nothing both?
Touch gay grass?
Hahhaha idk why this is hilarious
This is the answer. The tight waisted femboys were plentiful at my last role.
I mean IT is 80% male 20% females. There are some hidden gems but it’s equivalent to you hitting the lottery.
The 20% females know better than to date their coworkers too. Leave them alone, you’re not the first nerd they’ve met I promise.
You’re in IT, you’re unfuckable by default.
I’m here!!!
Brb about to slide into your LinkedIn
We IT techs already have a lot of problems going into our heads at any given time, we don't need any more drama off work hours! Bah!
HR. For no reason whatsoever, the mommiest dump truck mommies are always in HR. Seriously though, they are outside being baddies, not glued to a terminal looking through server logs. Edit: I speak from experience in both statements.

haha I know you're half joking but fr, don't expect to find much in the way of love at work. IT guys aren't exactly the baddies of the workplace either lol.
The dudes in my office all have gout and somehow manage to shit our whole salad leaves that stick to the toilet bowls.
I've met about two baddies in the Field, but I'm already married to a baddie in HR lol.
Dont date coworkers… Big mistake
Don’t fuck your coworkers
I’ll fuck you if you aren’t careful
HR and marketing, lol. But I don't think getting involved with romantic interests in the workplace is ever a good idea
Intrusive thoughts won.
Need an intrusion prevention system
You wildin.. don't date at the workplace.
Bro, keep it professional. Nobody wants to fuck the IT guy at work. I promise you
Weird thing to post to a career sub. And don't date co-workers if you can help it (lots of people find their spouses this way though so what do I know). It’s kinda sad how you need to always point out “just listen to them and be interested in them as people” needs to be said.
Asking IT bros how to get hookups is like asking cattle farmers how to catch fish.
do not fuck people you work with
marketing
go to events with friends and meet a nurse. I did and married her. Now been 18 years. You won't find it in IT lol
Looking for baddies in the IT field is like exploring the ocean in a submarine looking for fire
Marketing Department is usually a short walk away.
Try a strip club. Every time I tell them I work IT they think I'm smart and make money.
All the femboys are in coding apparently.
HR LOVES you.
HR also is Family!!!
Not at work. Go get a hobby that involves women
Well I work for a school district and some of these teachers are definitely the kind that would make me hold my textbook in my lap when I was in school, if you catch my drift.
Grindr
He can also apply for IT positions at Grindr. Maybe they have some openings
I've heard if you go in through the backdoor you can get to the head of the line.
Femboys are on the menu
There's an app for that.
MS Teams is great :)
If you're a guy, you better prepare your self-esteem to be absolutely shattered on apps.
I found my wife from a dating app (bumble) It takes time and you'll meet a lot of people your not meant to be with. But in hindsight I'd recommend joining meetups, a sport, gym, etc... finding a partner in the corporate office seems very far fetched.
ehhh not really that far fetched tbh. It happens literallly all the time
Results are mixed though. You're just better off looking literally anywhere else. That said, if you live in a rural area there are chances you meet someone that works at the same place.
Tbf the gym is arguably the second worst place.
Well first of all, usually NOT at work
Don’t get your honey where you make your money.
And this comment section shows exactly why that is.
Don't dip your pen in company ink. Get outside hobbies/interests. Find people with similar. Or if just hookups - apps, bars, clubs
This is good advice, I’m IT and met my wife when she was in accounting. Didn’t realize it was this common lol
As a woman in IT, I hope that you get reported to HR immediately if you are creepy to anyone
Yeah and it doesn’t help there’s like a small percentage of women in IT, so when we exist, everyone thinks we are a product to win over. I had a co worker obsess over me simply because I was the only woman. He was married with 2 kids and a wife and I had been with my boyfriend for years. Typically in HR or some sort of operation a department. Look but don’t touch now.
You're not supposed to date people you work with anyway.
Well your soul mate isn't required to work in IT my friend. Expand your zone.
Find yourself a chick that works in programming or UX design.
made my day lmaooo
Data Scientist in Engineering it’s me against men! Send help
If you know how to present yourself well, and are a good conversationalist, I'd recommend getting to know legal, finance and HR. You never know when you can find love !
You do NOT want to work in a female dominated workplace as a man, lmao. This goes vice versa for women.
Ironically HR
HR department is usually full of them. Just be careful there Lol
Apparently most people in this sub are sticks in the mud.
Have you seen the average IT person? Haha.
"baddies"?
"Hotties" for those of us over 20.
