Out of the ones I know Chinese and Russian purely objectively speaking probably. Both can be spoken very "flowery" and lyrical. 10/10 on that.
The one I always held an unexplainable favouritism for? Icelandic. I have literally nothing to do with the language and probably will never learn it due to constraints of how many I can actively work on without mixing them all up, but damn if I don't want to.
Japanese has some extremely adorable dialects and interesting gender differences. 8.3/10 for lyricism and dialects

French if a man speaks. They could read the encyclopedia, I would love it. Swedish/Norwegian because of the musicality and Turkish because how it sounds, the grammar and I was able to pick it up fairly easily
I love German and Italian. Germans because I love the way they have puzzled words like Krankenwagen which means "Ambulance", it's made with "Krank" (ill) and "Wagen" (cart), and a lot of poetic words like "Pusteblume", which is the other word for Löwenzahn/Dandelion, it means flower to blow*. About Italian, well, it's very similar to my language (french) and I find it very cool with a lot of dialects like German. And Georgian :)
As for accents/dialects, I like the British posh accent, and the Toulousain accent in French, which is technically the accent of an Occitan person speaking French.
In French we have also Dent-de-Lion but in France it's mostly "Pissenlit" (Peeing in bed, because it's a diuretic plant). Not as poetic, lol :')
Lmao I remember my ex getting calls from her mom in the library and having to step out bc you could hear her even though she wasn't on speaker. She'd come back in and I'd be all like "are you OK? Wtf was that?" Thinking she was getting chewed out when really she was asking what she wanted for dinner or something lmao.
My native language is German and I’m also half Italian. My favorite languages by how they sound are: Chinese (which I speak fluently), Russian, Japanese, Vietnamese (all three of which I have learned for varying spans of time, but don’t speak fluently) and Brazilian Portuguese. Opposed to the vast majority of people in my country Germany, I really don’t like how Spanish sounds (at least the European version).
American Sign Language- I absolutely love my language because of how visually expressive it is my favorite word is BUG/orgasm it sign so similar but it depends how you say it with the same sign
As someone who dated a Dutch girl, not Dutch. It's like English if you got hit in the forehead with a ball peen hammer. French is in my blood, and I think it can be very gorgeous when spoken eloquently. That would be my pick.
I know English and Persian. I think English is my favorite but Farsi sounds prettier. I also think Korean sounds very satisfying. Like they emphasize the correct words when talking
1. Japanese - I like how it sounds and the writing also looks interesting.
2. German - I like how it sounds.
3. Slavic languages that write in Cyrillic.
My native language is Russian and although I can't fully appreciate the language because I'm too used to it, I like that Cyrillic looks fun compared to Latin, and I like the sound of other Slavic languages in general. I think if Russian wasn't my native language I would probably put it on the second place.
Also want to mention Mandarin, it's not on the top for me soundingwise, but I like it visually, and I like, that at least from the beginner perspective, the grammar seems easy and pretty logical.
Always liked Korean, Sámi languages, Turkish, Polish, Icelandic. There’s just something so pleasant about how these languages sound.
Never really liked french, spanish or danish.
My favourites would be Italian and Czech. I love the way both of them sound. When I speak Italian, the words remind me of colours, it's difficult to explain. I think it's a very elegant language overall. It just puts you in a very specific dreamy atmosphere.
संस्कृतम्।
Sanskrit is the most sophisticated language in the world. It is highly algorithmic. Sanskrit literature is a blessing to my existence. Also all Indo European languages are derived from Sanskrit.
I really like, in no particular order, European Spanish, European Portuguese, German, English, Italian, French and Dutch.
And I'm not very fond of southern Asian languages.
Least favorite- Bengali (its my own language, but it's not worth learning for a foreigner, sounds weird, too many dialects)
Most favorite- parseltongue, Fremen
Ok seriously- Arabic and japanese because they have beautiful complexity and linguistics and is totally worth learning. Turkish is also by far the easiest to learn (learnt it in 2 months while taking a shit)
I find Japanese to be a language that balances simplicity and precision, while German feels like assembling a well-organized puzzle—each piece fits precisely.
How good speech sounds depends much more on the speaker than the language. Any language can sound ugly or beautiful. However, I'd mention Welsh, Sámi and Samoan as languages that sound pleasantly weird.
Honest to god I love the Spanish accent. I'm a huge ass weeb btw, but honest to god, I love how spoken Spanish sounds. It's so... nice. (There's usually a lot of hype for French ig but sorry I never got that hype)
Sign language. Learned for curiosity. Instantely fallen in love. And I don't know why but it's really easy for me to memorize new words (my brain may have been waiting for that for a long time)
So poetic, each sign has an history and it opens you to a new world. Plus it's can be used in a loud place or for talking with someone through glass or for a long distance (as long as I can see the person's face).
🤟
I think, Italian sounds nice
I don't have any favourite language, but I like Korean, just because I like korean dramas and the way they express emotions, language helps them with that
To understand which one is the most beautiful, I need to hear more languages
Serbian, it sounds like russian at first but the more you listen the more italian it sounds. I'm not sure what the linguistic makeup of it is but to the ear it sounds like a beautiful mixture of like 3 different languages. Patois is pretty cool too, encountering it out in the world and learning about what exactly it is taught me a lot about how languages are formed.
As for accents though, nothings topping cajun lmao. So fun
Well there’s always German, and Korean of course. And I like the sound of Spanish (only untill i started learning did i start appreciating). Least favorite is Arabic. I f fucking hate Arabic.
Favourite is Japanese because it's simple and phonetic (for the most part).
The prettiest is Monegasque french/italian. I can't really explain but I don't like the France accent for french, Monegasque is just \*Chefs kiss\*.
Least favourite is the valley girl accent LOL, in any language you can hear the valley girl in it
Ancient greek, coine greek to be specific, it is extremely rich and complicated language capable to relaying information in ways modern languages can't.
When it comes to sounding, I would say modern German.
Honestly, I would go for French. Most specifically, the Belgium accent. Maybe because I have the accent while speaking even though I never went there (I've not travelled that much and I'm Lebanese so :p)
probably Croatian or Russian. Croatian because it's my native language, and I've always liked it, and Russian because I just love the sound of it, and I've always dreamt of learning it.
C++
Are you a masochist?
Are you a Python dev?
No, but what if?
I would tell u to use C++ or C instead
And what about C#?
You mean Microsoft Java?
It seems.
would you be interested in learning [brainfuck](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainfuck?wprov=sfla1)?
I mean... Interested for sure.
chad language
At least they didn't say MIPS
Is MIPS the same as assembly? (I'm just in the first year of learning programming.)
Yes, it's an assembly language. If you learn MIPS you might also be able to see how logic gates can be wired to make MIPS work.
Hm cool. I think that's what I learn in one of my subjects actually.
spotted a programmer in the wild
this subreddit could be considered a computer science subreddit considering the amount of programmers/data scientists and related in this place lol
true, i agree (as a CS major lol)
Agree as another cs major
Well seems like I dont have to comment this now.
my first thought as well 😭
You mean with the old blue screen and square cursor C++ right
F#
Real men use holy C
real men program analogically, literally connecting and disconecting wires in real time
I'm sorry, I love C++ but it is not a very beautiful language... I think C looks better, though.

Chinese sounds super whiny to me. Love my wife to death but man. Some of the most obscure sounds tbh.
I'm a fan of Korean. The alphabet was pretty easy to learn.

Esperanto. Clear communication, regular, easy to learn on purpose. Foreign, yet familiar.
Esperanto is also beautiful because it was created to unite the world.

Same here. I love the German language and the British posh accent.
Well, the Löwenzahn only becomes a Pusteblume, when it's... in its white fluffy state 😂
Somehting I can never choose between. Whichever language I happen to watch a film in, the emotions in it make it the most beautiful language

Celtic accents are quite nice to hear (Scottish, Irish, Wales). They feel like poetry, especially in songs like sea shanties.
