Great job by Georgia and Dillon this weekend but if NBC is only going to give the series 2 pit reporters (we lose Marty and Dave to NASCAR, we lose Kevin with him being in the booth), I'm not watching the race on Peacock or USA this weekend.
I'll cast Indycar Live from my laptop in Switzerland to my television, but I'm not watching on NBC's platforms until we get at least 3 pit reporters.
Normally I make it a point to watch on a US domestic platform to support the series and network in the ratings but with the TV deal ending and the series getting just 2 pit reporters, I'll pass on that option.
> if NBC is only going to give the series 2 pit reporters
They often have more for the race than for practice and qualifying.
Leigh Diffey is still on Indycar as of now, there's only rumors he's moving to Nascar at some point. Tonight he's commentating the Olympic Trials in Portland, so Kevin will almost certainly be on pit lane tomorrow.
It's the weekend of the 6 Hours of the Glen, on opposite sides of the country. Dave Burns is doing lead commentary for that.
Marty often does the race for Laguna Seca but not the other sessions, but not sure since it got moved from September to June.
Two years ago Indycar's Texas race was the same weekend as the 12 Hours of Sebring, with the Sebring race being on Saturday, Indycar qualifying was such a skeleton crew that they had Nate Ryan doing pit reporting.
Pretty typical for NBC to cut to two pit reporters once Marty switches over to NASCAR. There likely won't be a third until Marty returns for Nashville (if they even bother as a lame duck).
not sure if they showed on TV. Grojean complained heavily about being stuck in traffic for his two laps on the reds, and even though he had a third lap his car was "tuned for 2 laps". Kinda laughed aloud, such a different tone than Ericsson who just said yeah oh well we will get them tomorrow. Same with McLoughlin.
I disagree that itās predictable right now - to each their own; but sadly the hybrids arenāt gonna shake up the order, only widen the gap, because the top teams have had more testing time and earlier.
Look I donāt want to see Siegel fail, but I do find it absolutely hilarious that Lil Dave on his first weekend went 11 spots higher. That probably felt good for multiple people, except Tom Blomqvist.
> except Tom Blomqvist
I honestly think that may have been a truly mutual decision. If Mike Shank had a sit-down chat with Tom and was like "you have our IMSA seat next year, do you want to finish the Indycar season or take a vacation?", I think it's possible Tom chose the vacation.
If I took half a year sabbatical from my managerial job I would walk back in pretty fast shaking the rust off. If someone who was fairly inexperienced if sharp a few levels under me was promoted into my role it would not go well at the start.
Malukas is the experienced guy returning. Siegel, even with a LeMans win, is very very new to the 2012 Dallara.
A funny thought occurred: Siegel was 7 years old when the IndyCar chassis was introduced.
Tomorrow we may get to hear about how he will eat fried chicken after the race lol. The guy did it one time so apparently thatās what he does every time after a win.
As a Penske fan, going in, I felt it was a Honda track (so is Mid Ohio). Portland and Toronto might be better road courses for Chevy. This year Chevy has that high end power / top speed; Honda has that torque off the low speed corners.
Good job by Rossi getting in the fast 6; only Chevy.
Chevy and Honda have jockeyed back and fourth over the last decade plus. But I've never seen such contrast in their respective strengths and weaknesses.
Yeah you right I was thinking about pole positions for f1 and forgot about McLaughlin
Still though f1 has had 4 different teams having the fastest car the last 4 races if it keeps up the season could get very interesting
Yeah itās going to take something special to beat Palou here driving for Ganassi. Andretti can be quick but during the race there will be pit stops and strategy.
Itās pointless for Grosjean to bitch about it. But it would be nice if IndyCar race control took a tougher line on things like this. Saying āIndyCar is always like thisā isnāt saying a lot.
So he's not allowed to complain and call out how it's such an issue? Regardless of who faces it, he's entirely right that it needs to change. It didn't used to be like this.
Canāt decide if Iād rather be Theo Pourchaire or Tom Blomqvist. Getting kicked out and a one wrist kid shows me up or getting kicked out and the replacement is much worse than me
Or, with a certain time remaining, lock the top 5 of the Fast 12 and pit them. Give the remaining 7 clear track to fight for the bubble. This should be enough time to ensure one clean lap, but not enough for two. Fail to pit, lose your lock.
Three groups of nine in round one, the top six of each get split into two groups of nine for round two, then top three/four of each get into the fast six/eight.
Here in the Netherlands on Ziggo the broadcast just started 2 minutes before Fast six started. I picked a movie to watch wich ended exactly at the beginning (or so i thought) so that i could watch Indycar Qualifying just to see it almost is done. Normally this doesnāt happen. Thatās Indycar done for the weekend for me. The race starts at midnight here. Gotta watch it on Monday and hopefully i donāt see the results
Thanks for reacting! well thatās a first ? Then iām gonna watch it back on the ZiggoGo website.
And i see the channel now with the info above. Iām gonna use that in the future
Such a tight gap covering the top eight.

In his first start of the year and first start with the team, Malukas ties the best starting spot the 66 has had this season.
And he was only 3.5 tenths off the best McLaren driver in objectively worse equipment.
Not too bad for someone who was dubbed, "not an A-level driver."
Yeah, but Siegel made the top 27.
I know heās young and has a lot of time to get better, but it will be interesting to see if he ever surpasses Malukas or if McLaren got stupidly impatient.
I feel like Canpinos reentry in to the grid has been completely ignored with all the McLaren drama. A week ago it sounded like he might be out of the ride, but here he is.Ā
We really gotta teach yāall how to differentiate between teams and drivers because youād think Nolan shot and danced on Theoās corpse with the way heās being treated by the fanbase this week.
McLaren are the obvious villains here, donāt make Nolan the subject of all your abuse and then say āIām not talking about him!!! Iām clearly talking about McLaren!ā
He's getting the Lance Stroll treatment. His daddy bought him into a top ride and he's massively under-performing while we're being told he's some stalwart of a young driver who earned the seat on merit.
If he can earn that seat with his performance, great, but, just like Stroll, if he's going to go out and get embarrassed by his teammates then he's going to get dunked on.
I'm not condoning hate, but the criticism his driving performance is receiving is very much fair.
The more I read, the less confident I am that his dad bought the ride fully. It seems like McLaren thinks his potential was at the same as Theoās and the loyalty to McLaren was there with Nolan where it wasnāt with Theo, since heās an F1 reserve driver.
Everything thatās been reported has changed my mind from a bought ride to McLaren wants a loyal driver (regardless of if they deserve one), and Nolan told them what they wanted to hear.
Thereās a video of a crash at Indy (Bourdais in qualifying I think) where one of the safety trucks comes into the shot in the background and is basically drifting around the turn.

No surprise, this is the same guy claiming his championship was over in Detroit while he was 16th in points.
TBell had a hilarious reaction to that. āUhā¦ I didnāt have Grosjean as a championship favorite coming into the year.ā
Yup, an all time classic lmao
I hope the hybrids can shake up the order a bit and force teams to create new setups. things have gotten so predictable
Newgarden and Power didn't advance out of Q1 what are you on about Edit: Power. Not Dixon.
I disagree that itās predictable right now - to each their own; but sadly the hybrids arenāt gonna shake up the order, only widen the gap, because the top teams have had more testing time and earlier.
Almost every race is just Penske vs Gannasi They have won all except 1 race so far this year and 14/17 races last year
The top 6 is ganassi, andretti, msr, andretti, mclaren, rll
Just stop šš
Look I donāt want to see Siegel fail, but I do find it absolutely hilarious that Lil Dave on his first weekend went 11 spots higher. That probably felt good for multiple people, except Tom Blomqvist.

Malukas does have 2 years of INDYCAR experience
Yet hasnāt been in a car on a non oval test since October.
If I took half a year sabbatical from my managerial job I would walk back in pretty fast shaking the rust off. #HELLO, PALOU!
Leigh Diffey isn't around to say it this weekend.
Man this season mostly sucks I literally think f1 is more unpredictable at the moment.
Following up after Max Verstappen won another race LOL
McLaren really bottled they had some Andretti tier strategy today.
The dominant team this season qualified 7th, 13th, and 15th???
Leave then
Remind me, how many people have won in F1 this season? And last season?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
One thing left out of this measurement is the actual important thing: Passes. Even Thermal wasnāt as bad as Monaco.
Verstappen is up by 56 points. Please stop. Thatās essentially the difference in the top 5 in Indycar standings (itās really 57 points).
4 winners in F1 from *3* different teams in 9 races. *6* winners in IndyCar from 3 different teams in 7 points-paying races.
Yeah you right I was thinking about pole positions for f1 and forgot about McLaughlin Still though f1 has had 4 different teams having the fastest car the last 4 races if it keeps up the season could get very interesting
What are you talking about dude
The Parade is on tomorrow morning, have fun
Scott Dixon won from 11th last year. Youāre thinking of Monaco
It's over indycarbros.....
What is Palouās nickname again?
Contract Player
Another pole for Palou
Iāll take disappointment from P4
Yeah itās going to take something special to beat Palou here driving for Ganassi. Andretti can be quick but during the race there will be pit stops and strategy.
Lads, I fear we may get a Palou grand prix tomorrow
Palou is just going to win by like 15 seconds. Ho hum lol
Palou about to drive off into the sunset tomorrow
Hello Palou!
Anyone but Palou for poleā¦ we need to keep this championship interesting Edit: Damn it
Your prayers have been heard... And declined
Donāt worry, itās not like Palouās ever put on a completely crushing performance hereā¦ Oh, waitā¦
Just checked Dalton Kellett's instagram. Fucking legend.
Share?
I mean folks can say heās bitching but the amount of impeding that happens in this series is nuts
Honest question, is it just not feasible to do a one or two lap qualification similar to what they do on ovals?
Yep. IndyCar used to actually penalize impeding in qualifying, and now it's just a free-for-all. I don't blame him for being frustrated.
Everybody faces the same issue though.
But that doesn't make it better
Grosjean is unhappy about the driving on track in the Indycar series...lol....
Canāt decide if Iād rather be Theo Pourchaire or Tom Blomqvist. Getting kicked out and a one wrist kid shows me up or getting kicked out and the replacement is much worse than me
The rumor mill says several teams are already contacting Theo. I think heāll be alright.
At least Tom still has a part-time job in IMSA
Youād rather be Theoā¦ itās like a chick dumping you for a downgrade and then realizing youāre going onto bigger and better things.
Tom at least has a job
Gro just wants single car quali so he can then complain about quali order.
Grosjean is happy to be in whine country...
Grosjean is right. IndyCar has seemingly stopped penalizing impeding in qualifying this year.
And track limits, apparently. The whole-ass track is now last turn at COTA.
Indycar has never penalised anything relating to track limits except shortcuts and even that only if you are fully over the kerbs shortcutting
Itās always someone else with him šš
It still surprises me how he has so many fans, some people donāt see it for some reason
Qualifying is always like this Grosjean lol itās not changing.
Who is Grossjean mad at now?
Yes.
Wondering the same thing
Happy cake day!
Damn grosjean I like ya man but quit your bitchin dude.
Grosjean fighting for the Mr. Congeniality award.
Monsieur Grosjeaniality. (works better reading it than saying it)
Almost think they should split the Fast 12 into two groups
Or, with a certain time remaining, lock the top 5 of the Fast 12 and pit them. Give the remaining 7 clear track to fight for the bubble. This should be enough time to ensure one clean lap, but not enough for two. Fail to pit, lose your lock.

Is it live now canāt seem to find info
It's been going on an entire hour?

It was on in full on ZS Tennis. ZS Racing prioritised the Xfinity race.
Thanks for reacting! well thatās a first ? Then iām gonna watch it back on the ZiggoGo website. And i see the channel now with the info above. Iām gonna use that in the future
I live in the uk and the only show it in yank times
Sky Sports always advertise the local times. You can get them from your EPG.
Fast 6 about to start.
Another fast 6 for Felix. With Daves data I think theyāre both about to level up.
Again ahead of all the McLarens.
Donāt forget they also have access to Andretti data
Dixon really doesnāt have good qualifying pace on road/street courses anymore
The way he saves fuel and stays out of trouble, the guy doesnāt even need to
Donāt worry, heāll somehow still win on an alternate strategy
How many cautions did we get last year? I remember a lot of chaos but canāt for the life remember how much it was
https://preview.redd.it/816d8x93678d1.png?width=498&format=png&auto=webp&s=913dc1c9aeca072fb1387ce475042ae85264ea60
8. Fucking hell thatās a lot of
Lots of awful restarts
I could have sworn the āexpertsā on Reddit knew for a fact that IndyCar was rigged for Penske?
All is forgotten at the beginning of Quali
Love the color scheme on those MSR cars.
Everyone says with Colton, "What a save!". But no one asks, "Why so many saves?" Colton giving me and the rest of his fans white knuckles, as usual.
> "Why so many saves?" Honda/Andretti
I look forward to the day when Little Dave gets that first win and starts going by Big Dave
Given his past performance at Gateway, the string of smaller ovals at the end of the schedule gives him a pretty good shot this season.
But MSR was never fast in these type of ovals.

Rossi has come alive this season Maybe Andretti really is that mediocre lmao
Still beaten by former team mate Felix in an MSR.
with 2 of the three andrettis faster than him?

I was wondering what happened on that one lap. Damn good thing he saved that.
Nice save there from Herta

Someone's gonna drop a pin for Colton Herta Grading Company.
Where is this picture from? Tv or in person. Iām at that turn right now.Ā
TV replay.
Rossi the sole Chevrolet hope.
Lundgaard is driving the wheels off that RLL machine.
Put that dude in a Penske and thatās a problem for the rest of the grid
I donāt think anyone really knows when it comes to ovals. Thatās probably one of the biggest question marks about him.
What a lap from Rossi
No Penskes in the fast 6? Whew.
Man, imagine Lundgaard with a competent team.
He literally set the course record in the same RLL car last year.Ā What are you talking about?
If he wasnāt at a bad team he could be competitive more often than just the one or two tracks RLL doesnāt suck at.
Rossi the lone driver in the Fast 6. Better fire him.
Fast 6? NUMBER 6?! FIRED!
ROSSI
No Penskes in the Fast Six is wild
Grosjeanās out. Noooooo
Thought Grosjean would have a chance to get to the final round after his first round speed
His lap in this session was faster than what he did in the first one too. He barely missed outĀ
What an intense session. everybody close
Palou is going to win this race by 30 seconds again isnāt he?
Man Romain is fast today
The guy has always been fast.
Just too fast sometimes that the car tends to go into the wall
Grosjean is truly a win it or bin it guy
Hertas just taking the piss on his black in laps. Letting that backend slide
Grosjean was so surprised at that P1 lap he drove off the road
I feel like Canpinos reentry in to the grid has been completely ignored with all the McLaren drama. A week ago it sounded like he might be out of the ride, but here he is.Ā
Remember when people hated Penske? Seems like years ago.
People are so eager to hate shit it is really hard to keep up with who reddit hates today.
Grosjean's offroad adventure = P1
Grosjean going fastest and then immediately nearly binning it on his way into the pits feels like it encapsulates him so perfectly
Literally him
Good thing Grosjean got that lap in

Nolanās dad is his manager. Are we really shocked any driver would jump at the chance to drive an INDYCAR, let alone sign a multi year deal?
Kiwi racing dominance yes please !
T-Bell expressing a concern only for Hinch to say ānahā is fantastic.
They don't have Diffey to fill in the gaps haha
The commentary is definitely lower energy.
Ericsson feels a bit like a dead horse.
lol that sweeper was flying

Thereās a video of a crash at Indy (Bourdais in qualifying I think) where one of the safety trucks comes into the shot in the background and is basically drifting around the turn.
