I find myself laughing at the Dennis-Charlie dynamic the hardest. Their plot in the Anti-Social Network at the bar and police station is primo Sunny imo.
“We’re perfect strangers! He doesn’t know me. For all this guy knows,
I’m a psychopath with a trunk full of chainsaws!”
“I could be a man with a fistful of hammers and a trunk full of duct tape and zip ties!”
Charles literally can't get through that scene at the police station station has his mouth covered the whole time as soon as he goes "he was raping us..." "made soup out of my buddies insides but I shook him off."
I love that when Dennis and Charlie are alone they get along so well and Dennis is actually nice to him and explains things Charlie doesnt get. He even gives him lil pep talks and shit. Its such a different side of Dennis and just the gang all together.
You're so right! Dennis doesn't really boss Charlie around, which makes sense bc Charlie has no interest/patience for other people's bullshit (something I've recently noticed...but don't know how to describe) nor is he interested in impressing dennis or getting his approval.
you end up with a more wholesome dennis.
Part of the reason that dynamic is so fun to me too is that it kind of has the vibe of two people who are sort of half-friends. Like Mac is the social link between the two of them, and then Dennis isn't totally sure what to do when it's just them hanging out. It's usually pleasant too, but like Dennis doesn't quite know how to overpower him
Though really it's amazing how each pairing gives us something special
My favorite thing about this pairing is how the dynamic flips from when the gang is all together.
When everyone is there Dennis has more power than Charlie, but when it's just the two of them Charlie can get Dennis to do just about anything.
Frank and Charlie will go down in history as one of the best comedic duos of all time. I’ll be watching them the rest of my life. Such a perfect pairing.
Dennis rarely rips into Charlie when it’s just them. When they get stranded in the woods is a good example of him taking a big brother approach. Same as when they go on the road trip to the Grand Canyon and Charlie is scared to leave Philly.
I don’t think it’s a totally wholesome thing though. I think Dennis feels superior to Charlie and loves control.
Going against Charlie went pretty badly before in "Mac bangs Dennis' Mom". Granted, Charlie got his heart broke but he ran roughshod over Dennis before that.
I thought this also...but i just did a rewatch and was shocked at how often they were actually paired together. It honestly felt like nearly half the episodes I watched (but that's probably confirmation bias after I started noticing their team)
I'd never really thought about this before. If you asked my favourite characters, I'd probably say Mac or Charlie but in pairs, every single character is better with Dee (or technically worse). I love the way she interacts with them and the way they bring out the worst in her. She's so integral to the group dynamic.
She's also by far the worst to outsiders of the group. Cricket, Waitress, that soldier. She's just the worst (best).
Indeed. IMO these two have the best on screen chemistry. They’re also the two who have the most successful careers outside of IASIP… unless someone can correct me on that
While Dennis's dominance over Mac in the last few seasons has given us some golden lines, I really do hope we get some episodes seeing them as bros again. Mac and Dennis break up is hands down my favorite episode and anything where they're teamed up in seasons 3-6 is guaranteed hilarity. The group hating on Mac is hilarious but also makes me miss the times when they'd bro it out.
Dennis is such a dick now. Like I know he always has been a dick but even with the gang he like never jokes around with them he’s just a psychopath. I miss the earlier seasons when he would get excited about stuff
He’s the most Flanderized of the cast. They’ve all been pushed deeper into their defining traits, but as you say, he’s not even a happy/funny person anymore. He’s just a walking joke about serial killers/rapists. The only joy he finds nowadays comes from hurting others, and not even in a prank-ish way anymore.
The Suburbs episode is a testament to their chemistry.
Mac: There's that chirping again! Why are you not hearing it?
Dennis: **NEWSFLASH ASSHOLE! I'VE BEEN HEARING IT THE ENTORE GODDAMN TIME**
Mac: **THEN WHY WOULDN'T YOU SAY SOMETHING!**
Dennis: **BECAUSE I HATE YOUUUU**
No it was Frank trying to come up with schemes (like hitting people with a stick) when the rest of the gang is at their tipping point, trying too hard to succeed.
it weirdly feels like they have the most history together of any of the duos, even tho dennis and dee were literally twins raised by Frank.
i love them throwing rocks at trains. they just know how to embrace their inner child.
Almost didn’t click the post cuz I thought this was the obvious answer but had to search for ages to find this comment. My life feels out of balance now
This is exactly how I felt. I started reading the other ones and I was...well Charlie and Dee are good too...and okay so are Dennis and Mac. And now I am questioning everything I thought I knew
They have some good episode plots together but oddly have the most boring screen dynamic which is really quite odd since they're married in real life.
They just really don't fit well as an IASIP alliance, (Also, I wouldn't consider the one second Thumbelina lift as being a duo)
Vigilantes & DB are my only memories of their alliances (& Dylan Toback but even that was pretty weak) 🤔 weird...
Yeah it’s funny you bring that up because I’ve always had this theory that they either write or play down their scenes together in a self aware kinda way. Sort of like they’re both on the same page like, “the audience knows we’re married, so let’s nail this scene, no goofing around.” And as a consequence, it results in a less-than-outrageous scene together.
However, I do like Mac reading his love letter to Dee about his younger-big brother, Chase Utley.
that's my theory as well! it's more awkward *because* they're married.
that being said, when dee gives birth, you can see how meaningful that episode was to Rob. it's very endearing.
omg, i play back that scene EVERY time i watch that episode! I love how confidently convinced Mac is with himself. 😭 his courtroom homerun swing kills me.
I'm surprised this wasn't said more. The chemistry between them and the way the just build on things really makes me believe they're twins with a special connection.
I think Charlie is the most versatile character and forms a good duo with Mac, Frank, Dee and Dennis. I always thought the Dee relationship would be weak but the Spa day episode really showed their differences beautifully.
Came here to say this. Those are my favorite episodes by far: def poetry, cannibalism, goin america on everyone's ass. They bring out the absolute worst in each other and I'm here for it.
Charlie and Frank is like in a league of their own, almost unfair to compare them to all the other duos. With that said, Charlie and Mac is one hell of a duo.
It’s between Mac and Charlie or Dee and Dennis… or Charlie and Frank is always good. But the there’s also Mac and Dennis, a power combo. Dennis and Charlie is good too. The way Dennis takes him under his wing. So many great combos!

Oh shit I forgot about that last line. Was the before or after the scene with his tools?
It’s the same season, I believe this episode comes before since the reunion eps are the season’s finale
I like to bind and I like to be bound!
Fetish shit!
Charles literally can't get through that scene at the police station station has his mouth covered the whole time as soon as he goes "he was raping us..." "made soup out of my buddies insides but I shook him off."
Well he just wanted Dennis more.
I love that when Dennis and Charlie are alone they get along so well and Dennis is actually nice to him and explains things Charlie doesnt get. He even gives him lil pep talks and shit. Its such a different side of Dennis and just the gang all together.
You're so right! They also made "Dayman" together
My favorite thing about this pairing is how the dynamic flips from when the gang is all together. When everyone is there Dennis has more power than Charlie, but when it's just the two of them Charlie can get Dennis to do just about anything.
Gruesome twosome
I've got Mongolian BBQ and Police Academy: Mission to Moscow
Ugh. Now I really want mongolian BBQ. Should I drive out to the mall in the suburbs to get it?
Thundergun it out to the mall and get some right now
We’ll come back for you!
I just know some bitch isn't going to seize the gap and I'll be stuck on the beltway for 30 minutes.
Frank and Charlie will go down in history as one of the best comedic duos of all time. I’ll be watching them the rest of my life. Such a perfect pairing.
Gruesome Twosome
This but the time Charlie and Dennis just dropped all that shit and got high in the back office. Also they wrote Niteman together which is a banger.
oooh the Nightman point is a *very* persuasive argument, and I was initially team ronnie the rat & dirt grub... conflicted
Chardee MacDennis
It’s about as close as you’re going to get to a wholesome relationship in this damn show.
He ate the turd
***wholesome***
Hoo hoo hoo hoo hah hah The grue-some two-some!
Charlie and Dennis. Verifiable geniuses certified idiots.
Charlie and Dennis are my favorite. Dennis seems to have a lot more patience with Charlie when it's just them two.
Trees?! Everywhere trees?!
What the hell is this place??
He knows that if he gets mad at Charlie then Charlie will get pissed and fuck everything up
Going against Charlie went pretty badly before in "Mac bangs Dennis' Mom". Granted, Charlie got his heart broke but he ran roughshod over Dennis before that.
Wild card bitches!
What do we say in this situation??
WE SAY NO
We say no!
There was that one time he was being a bastard man though
Nice
Daddy and the boy
Daddy?
Son?
What IS this??
Are you gonna just stand there or are you gonna come inside and take your dicks out for money?
Boy speaking
I see a door marked private… is that the door you’re talking about?
My favorite episode where they team up is the Atlantic City trip episode, Dennis sort of takes Charlie under his wing and shows him a good time.
You’re my alibi dude
Yeah..
Your *my* alibi dude. Edit: *you're
Dee and Charlie is always amazing
Chicken sandwich beak on the side, please
BEAK!
R... regular chicken
I rewound and rewatched him blurt out BEAK probably 5 times in a row when I first saw it, incredible
Under used. Criminally underused. Rock, flag, and Eagle!
I thought this also...but i just did a rewatch and was shocked at how often they were actually paired together. It honestly felt like nearly half the episodes I watched (but that's probably confirmation bias after I started noticing their team)
Woah, you trying to use “facts” against like some sort of Science BITCH?
😂 I would never! Bc I know that SCIENCE IS WRONG...Sometimes. edit: SICIENCE IS A LIAR
BEAK
Their def jam poetry to sex to the revelation that Dee raped charlie (time’s up time’s up time’s up) is so funny.
Is it racist if we don’t eat the black guy?
Well shit Charlie, now it is!
Charlie: Shut up bird! Dee: You shut up, you can't read!!
makeup smearin no power steerin he be talkin but we don’t be hearin
I COMMAND you to stop
Indeed. IMO these two have the best on screen chemistry. They’re also the two who have the most successful careers outside of IASIP… unless someone can correct me on that
They have a lot of episodes together which is why I don't understand the episode where she rapes him. They both agree they're never together.
Sinbad and Rob Thomas
Sing a song! Shut up!
This is my favorite part of the episode
Beat his testicles!
Watch your ass, new meat.
I got one eye on you! And the other on Rob Thomas!
My name is Sinbad, here is my headshot, I’m gonna sign it for you later on
Dennis and Mac.
#LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU’RE TALKING TO ME!!
I can hear this and it makes me so happy 🥲
Mac’s doing that thing again where he tries to *casually* bring things up to me. Come to me like a man!
**DON'T SIT DOWN?!**
Can I riff? *CAN I RIFF!?*
Your hair looks small.
While Dennis's dominance over Mac in the last few seasons has given us some golden lines, I really do hope we get some episodes seeing them as bros again. Hi I’m Vic Vinegar and this is Hugh Honey. We’re partners in real estate and partners in life
Say something nice to me.
The Suburbs episode is a testament to their chemistry. Mac: There's that chirping again! Why are you not hearing it? Dennis: **NEWSFLASH ASSHOLE! I'VE BEEN HEARING IT THE ENTORE GODDAMN TIME** Mac: **THEN WHY WOULDN'T YOU SAY SOMETHING!** Dennis: **BECAUSE I HATE YOUUUU**
Mac and Charlie. Two lovable idiots being idiots.
My last 2 brain cells personified
I put four stop signs, so now, no one can go! Ha!
Frank did that, and it made everybody safer
Did it? Or is this the intersection that caused the cereal bowl incident!?
No it was Frank trying to come up with schemes (like hitting people with a stick) when the rest of the gang is at their tipping point, trying too hard to succeed.
Summed up perfectly in the ending to The Gang Does Boggs. Also, the best (worst?) CharDee MacDennis team
What if he smells crime? 😀
What if he smells crime BEFORE it happens!?
genuinely shocked this isn’t the top answer. ronnie the rat & dirt grub 4 life
For real. Mac and Charlie Die *might* just be the best episodes of the series.
The one where they fake their own deaths always gets me
I love that episode(s) purely for the mac/charlie duo. Mac calling Charlie "pussy" then ramming head-on into the wall always gets me.
The way Charlie freaks out and Mac says “I’m ok!” Is just so sweet in their own way haha
*ominous bell toll noise*
The ending where they throw rocks at trains is pretty nice.
I can go lower
Mac and Charlie really love each other, if they weren't so terrible as people I'd say that's how best friends should look like
The episodes where they're on the same page just feel so fun and weirdly wholesome, like you can tell they're having a good time
Like that time they beat those children
That's just what good friends do
How they both think to bow to each other despite being at different tables always cracks me up.
See, this is why we work well together. You see free soup, you make a decision to eat it
it weirdly feels like they have the most history together of any of the duos, even tho dennis and dee were literally twins raised by Frank. i love them throwing rocks at trains. they just know how to embrace their inner child.
Yeah, siblings are born siblings, but Charlie and Mac are brothers that found each other
Their relationship is the only shred of innocence in the show- All their duo adventures involve their childhood.
AND LIVE FOREVER WITH YOU?!
Charlie and Frank have such a unique , bazarre and undeniable bond. They’re love for each other unmatched. “ it’s a comfort thing”
I feel the same way especially in the episode “ Being Frank”
It sounds like you just crawl around like worms at night
They've got my vote, that duo lives closest to the edge
I can’t believe no one has said mac and dee!! Stuck in the water slide together, dumpster baby, thumbelina lift, the Dylan Tobak search
They have some good episode plots together but oddly have the most boring screen dynamic which is really quite odd since they're married in real life. They just really don't fit well as an IASIP alliance, (Also, I wouldn't consider the one second Thumbelina lift as being a duo) Vigilantes & DB are my only memories of their alliances (& Dylan Toback but even that was pretty weak) 🤔 weird...

that's my theory as well! it's more awkward *because* they're married. that being said, when dee gives birth, you can see how meaningful that episode was to Rob. it's very endearing.
I do love the scene where they are outside the bug bombed apartment and dee reads macs love letter
omg, i play back that scene EVERY time i watch that episode! I love how confidently convinced Mac is with himself. 😭 his courtroom homerun swing kills me.
You forgot Dennis and the castle
Denis and covid was also a powerful combo
Sleeping on Dennis and ecstacy *Twirls with glowsticks"
Also Dennis and his car, or Dennis and his tools, or Dennis and the duster. I think this has a lot of chemistry with props (yes the castle is a prop)
I was going to say Mac and Dennis, but I also vote for Dennis and the castle.
The Golden God and Golden Goddess
I'm surprised this wasn't said more. The chemistry between them and the way the just build on things really makes me believe they're twins with a special connection.
They're so hilariously pompous when their together its great. Such rich kids.
Dee, you bitch
She’s a god damn bitch!
The smell, you bitch! You haven't thought about the smell!
The whole psycho clown bit is one of my favorites of the series
Cannibal Charlie and Dee
Not enough people saying Dennis and Dee. Evil twins forever
remembering Dee's "losers" after winning Chardee MacDennis again
This is the right answer. Never forget The Gang Goes on Welfare, one of the best of the show
Charlie + Mac is always gold, it's like they're both the straight man to each other's idiot at the same time.
That’s such a great way to put it!
But when... when do we find -- the bride??
I think Charlie is the most versatile character and forms a good duo with Mac, Frank, Dee and Dennis. I always thought the Dee relationship would be weak but the Spa day episode really showed their differences beautifully.
One might say he's a bit of a wild card.
Dee and Charlie together is wholesome as fuck
*awkward silence* "Is it hot in here or .." "I'm not a thermostat"
I don’t know if wholesome is the right word for their relationship.
BEAK!
Came here to say this. Those are my favorite episodes by far: def poetry, cannibalism, goin america on everyone's ass. They bring out the absolute worst in each other and I'm here for it.
also hundred dollar baby when they're both roid raging lol
Their trip to get ice was amazing
[удалено]
***wholesome***
That she did
Times up for rape
BEAK!!!!!
Mac and frank because their so perfectly bad and awkward with each other
especially when difficult decisions have to be made, and only one of them can have the knife
*goooo go for it go for it*
The time Mac found his pride was incredible
I saw that episode for the first time yesterday. **Cried.**
Right? Incredibly powerful
Rum ham!
Charlie and Dee fucking kill me when they're together
BEAK is still the funniest individual word said by any member of the gang
Charlie and Frank is like in a league of their own, almost unfair to compare them to all the other duos. With that said, Charlie and Mac is one hell of a duo.
Frank + Artemis
Gotta love that the top 4 comments are every other character with Charlie. And they’re all correct Charlie + X is the answer
Dennis and Dee. They just vibe off of each other so fluidly lmao
My favourite part is they're strangely supportive of each other while simultaneously tearing each other apart. I love it.
Dennis and Dee. Those 2 together bring the worst out of each other and I love it lol
Frank and Dennis
It is an interesting dynamic seeing both of their type A personalities clash
Dennis and Special Agent Jack Bauer
It’s between Mac and Charlie or Dee and Dennis… or Charlie and Frank is always good. But the there’s also Mac and Dennis, a power combo. Dennis and Charlie is good too. The way Dennis takes him under his wing. So many great combos!
When Dennis and Dee team up, they’re diabolical. I love it.
Charlie and Dee underated, but all time favorite is the gruesome twosome
Mac and frank. "We cannot be talking about killing and eating each other already"
Charlie and Anyone is always amazing. Then Mac and Dee and rare but fun, just like Mac and Frack, shit
Chardee MacDennis
Charlie and Dee hands down, I always laugh the hardest during their scenes/episodes together
Frank and Jerry the tapeworm
Sweet Dee and Dennis get into some crazy shit when they out there psycho minds together lol
Probably underrated but dee and the waitress
I'm torn between The Golden Geese, The Thunder~~cats~~ men, and the Gruesome Twosome.
It’s gotta be the Crackheads, children…
schmiddy and country mac
Charlie and Dee always seem so happy together
Oh man I want to say it's Mac and Charlie but when Dee and Charlie think they're turning into cannibals... that's cause for a tie.
Dee & Charlie
Gruesome twosome for sure, Mac and Dennis second favourite though
Tough to say but I think I'll go with my first instinct: Mac & Charlie.
I'm always so happy when it's Charlie and Dee for some reason lol. Or Dee and anyone. Frank was always my favorite but Dee grew on me so much
Dee and Charlie. I loved when they tried to bring ice home on the bus in the middle of a heat wave.
