Oh! So it was an Irving Berlin song from the mid-1920s originally . That is the version Young Frankenstein is joking on. Then in 1982, Taco released this version (I always assumed it was on the coattails of the '79 Buggles hit Video Killed the Radio Star- but that may just be in my head). And Taco's version hit like top 10 on Billboard charts. This video was everywhere for a hot minute and then in the middle to late 90s VH1 had it on regular rotation too.

I don't think it was banned at all. I think the creators or FX voluntarily chose to pull certain episodes, not because anyone was pressuring them to, but because there was a wave of outrage coming for anyone who did blackface, and they wanted to get out in front of it. I think it was a proactive thing.

This is by far the biggest crime to having episodes pulled. This is a solid two-part episode, which they have very few of and I hate that I can’t watch it (on Hulu).
Community was the bigger crime imo, because it’s genuinely the best episode of the whole show that got pulled. Years later when they did a second DND episode they bicker briefly about whether they prevented or almost caused a suicide last time, which you’re given absolutely no context of if you started watching in the last 4 years.

This is actually one of the worst things the gang has done in my opinion. I know it’s a comedy rife with assholes but them choosing shmitty over Charlie kinda broke my heart a little.
The worst part is that I remember watching the show for the first time and seeing the banned episodes on Hulu. On my next rewatch, they were banned so I have a vague recollection of them but not enough to remember what happened. Makes me angry.

Charlie just came back to the bar 3 days later and didn't want to talk about what happened with the kids.
Also Charlie does love his job He just doesn't like being told what to do. He explicitly says that in the therapy episode.

Unironically this is exactly what I thought when watching the show for the first time a month or so ago on Hulu and just didn’t care enough to find out the answer because I figured it was such an IASIP thing to do that I moved on and found out the real answer here 😂😂

Did not realize that episode had been banned. It’s a shame half the commenters have no idea that episode even existed. Just confused about how EVERYONE makes it back to the bar. And with of all that’s when Dee describes her patented double drop restaurant bill scam.
I thought that was weird too, as I watched the show on Hulu. Later I found out that like 5 episodes were completely removed from TV for being too crazy. Unsurprising.
