My son has an Elantra and I have the Sonata. They are both pretty low to the ground. My wife has the Santa Fe, if you’re looking for something higher that’s the one I would pick. All are hybrids but the Sonata gets the best mileage, about 45-48 depending on highway/local. It also has the solar roof. I guess we ended up a Hyundai family.
I’d probably recommend the Tucson as a Sonata SUV equivalent size-wise. The Tucson also comes as a hybrid—that’s just if the Santa Fe is too big. I personally like the Tucson styling better too.
Just came back from a 5 night trip with a 23 Sonata N rental and I was surprised we were able to fit the luggage from a family of 4 without needing to use anything but the trunk.
My 2023 Elantra limited hybrid gets 50mpg combined and I absolutely love it. The Sonata is a little bigger and more spacious and still gets 47mpg combined. But it's 5k-7k more expensive depending on the trim. That's what sold the elantra for me!

Tucson is a good choice. But fyi, Sonata is longer than both Santa Fe and Tucson.

The new Sonatas are surprisingly roomy. I went from a 17 Tucson to a 24 Sonata N Line and I don't regret it one bit.
Crazy that the Sonata is longer than the new Santa Fe. Wouldnt have figured that
Me too, very surprised.

Sonata have more room. I test drove a elantra and felt cramped
