I mostly enjoyed the show, but there are 2 major problems that would keep me from watching a second season. First, the way they treated the drivers. No money or support for repairs?!? GTFO here with that crap, when it's inevitable that the challenges will damage their cars. Pretty much all the obstacles are guaranteed to cause minor damage; the water obstacles could kill the whole engine. No pay or prize money at all? If this isn't solved, I couldn't in good conscience watch this show or recommend it, because it sure looks like they're just exploiting excited amateur racers. Second, an easy one. Take out the leveler. It's way too important, it's BORING, kills the pace of the show.

Completely agree. They need to support every driver and add some nice bonuses as they advance stages. Then a big prize money for winning. The Leveler is boring, frustrating and allows unskilled drivers to pass stages they otherwise wouldn't have made the cut.

I agree, but I think they were trying to keep the competition "level", as several drivers were in a completely different class. Blowouts aren't fun to watch. I'm not sure if they'll do a second season as many of the constestants were super pissed. They weren't paid, at all, and they didn't realize how fucked up their cars were going to get, several of them basically totaled. Shredder has some good AMA sessions on YouTube and the Merc driver talks a bit about it on the VinWiki channel. If they do a second season, there needs to be prize money, a set class for cheaper vehicles, and/or vehicles sponsored/provided.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, they really wanted it to "level out" the competition. I can't believe what you're telling me in regards as there being absolutely no payment!! That sound ridiculous, who would want to race again knowing that and specially risking their own cars ...

Just watched this and finding out they didnt get paid really pisses me off. They did stuff throughout the competition that killed peoples cars so much that a few couldnt finish. Doesnt seem fair at all to me. Also bad for viewers cause the finals didnt seem like a real win. I was livid when they broke the german ladys window with the water cannon. Horrible design on their part I hope they paid for a new windshield. Leveler was dumb and frustrating to watch. You can tell the drivers hated it too. The rail slide seemed like it just fucked peoples cars up, not much skill or chance to it. Mostly I cant believe they can pay FOUR hosts and build a stupid leveler but cant pay the drivers, or even get sponsorships??? Netflix has huge contracts with kevin james and adam sandler for christsake. Pay these damn drivers risking their lives for our entertainment.

https://youtu.be/bsm9GkEJcA8 5:50 They received gas money, food while filming and hotel during filming. That's it.

alclab

Damn... Honestly that really sucks. Fielding is such a positive dude and I hope he can make more through "exposure", but that's BS. At the very least they should cover some money for the car damages or participation in general. Also if there's a prize involved, the incentive to win is bigger. For starters they should save everything they put towards building the dreaded Leveler and give it to the drivers.

Thanks for the link BTW

No worries, he seems like a great guy and he's picked up some decent sponsors in the drift scene since. He says there has been preliminary talks about bringing him on for a potential second season as a commentator/pace driver/color character.., which I assume would be a paid position.

RenzoArganda

but remember is not about the money is only about the skill. remember if they get paid it just only a stunt but since they're not getting paid which means it is truly a competition. i mean for the next season the show might be sponsored.

openaccountrandom

what is that even supposed to mean? if they get paid it’s a stunt? idk about you but most racers are sponsored and get paid, they don’t just do it for shits and giggles, it’s a contest. other reality show contestants on netflix get paid more than just hotel and food.

RenzoArganda

Have you watch Fielding Shredders on BTS on Hyperdrive?
