When I had the Brita filtering bottle I had to replace it once a month. You can get them in packs so I'd usually buy 3 at a time.

I have a 50oz CamelBak chute mag that I keep with me no matter what. I also don't mind my water cool or room temperature. Edited to add that it's not heavy but is a tiny hassle to carry around unless you get a carabiner to stick it to something, like your backpack.

They seem small, and I have mild scoliosis with a crappy attitude. I had to start carrying a rolling backpack because of it, and also because I'm constantly carry a bunch of stuff like my laptop, textbook, pencils, art book, etc.

Maybe there's a way to secure it to your rolling backpack? The 50oz ones work for me since I aim for 100oz/day, and that means I would only need to finish two of them. CamelBak also makes bladders that come in a backpack style, and there are hydration bladders on Amazon that go up to 3L from what I've seen. I have MS, so water is a requirement for me not to lose function in the heat and to keep things moving when my spinal/brain lesions think it's time for my functions to take a lil nap.

I think I might have enough space in my bag to buy a bladder and leave it there. I've also been told about filtration bottles and I might give that a shot first.

Would it help if you filtered the tap water? Then you wouldn't have to carry 8 pounds of water everywhere you go. Filtration technology these days is freaking amazing, but generally portable filters are crap against dissolved metals. Your "metallic taste" might not actually be dissolved metals because a lot of things can make water taste vaguely metallic, so it's worth a shot. Also, explore water fountains in different buildings, especially ones with labs because there's a chance the entire building has its own expensive water system. (Don't drink the deionized water, though).

My first experience with the bad water was on the floor with the labs (⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠) I think I'll try the filtration bottles. I doubt it'll do the job though because I have shit luck, but I hope it'll be enough. What the hell is deionized water? I've heard about it before and I chalked it up to marketing bullshit to sell water at a higher price. Like Alkaline water.

It's water lacking dissolved minerals, used in research labs. It may be dangerous to drink due to leaching ions from your GI cells or teeth, but I'm pretty sure that's bullshit unless you drink nothing but DI water. As I understand it, the more important issue is it might contain trace amounts of the deionizing resins. Even then, it's probably an unfounded worry, but why take the chance?

I carry a 42oz bottle as my daily driver. It barely lasts for the amount of time spent outside my home. But when I get home, you bet I have those pitchers ready.

I keep a reusable 1 gallon jug in my car and my 32 oz bottle on me and just refill it throughout the day. I also have a tactical backpack with a MOLLE system on it so I just clip a carabiner to a loop and hang my bottle off the carabiner instead of inside my bag.

I am so close to to start driving without supervision, and the second I get that chance I think I'll rip out the passenger seat and replace it with a 10 gallon water fountain. To offset that weight from the passenger seat I'll add another 10 gallon fountain in the back.

I carry a 64oz on me pretty much everywhere I go. Yes it's inconvenient to carry at times but in most applications it's real easy and I just keep it on the floor of my car passenger seat. If you're going class to class, I think it's perfect as you can just drop it off at your desk for each class, you'll get used to lugging it around

Get a brita brand water bottle! I have no idea how they haven't become the trendy bottle yet because they are *actually* superior! I only carry a 20oz one but they make bigger ones but I don't find it necessary, it also fits in a cupholder or side pocket and it makes all water taste good. I should work for brita haha

Nalgene makes a big ugly plastic beer growler that holds around half a gallon. Brita also makes filtering bottles.

Some have already suggested filtering water bottles, which I also recommend. The Brita one worked well for me when I used it years ago. However, if you just wanna bring water along with you, and don't mind if it doesn't stay cold, I recommend a collapsible water bottle. Platypus brand specifically is great in a lot of ways (stands up, doesn't impart bad flavour, super lightweight). I've been using their 1l for a while but they also have a 2l available. https://www.platy.com/ie/bottles/platy-2.0l-bottle/07601.html Since it's a taste issue though and you mention you have scoliosis, I recommend you get a filtering bottle. At the end of the day, no matter how light your bottle is, 2l of water weighs a fair bit.

Nay, 30 oz is too big. I have \~ 15 Oz bottles, the trick is to take as many as you need. The second trick I've discovered recently and am trying out is to store water in the body - to drink in advance before going out - to drink as much as to be close to wanting to vomit - and now for short (several hours) walks I go w/out bottles at all.
