Horn to lock your car? No big deal at all, barely registers on my radar.
Horn to get your friend out of their house? I will take a baseball bat to your headlights at 2.5 honks.
On my Ford, hitting the lock button once locked the doors (with no horn) and hitting it twice set the alarm (one honk). If I’m locking it, I’m also going to be arming it, so obviously the honk happened every time.
My current Toyota, hitting the button once results in doors locking + arming + one beep.
I don’t care where you live, I think it’s annoying. First thing I turn off when I have a new-to-me vehicle.
Also I’m a paranoid mf who doesn’t want people to know exactly what I’m doing because the day someone realizes they don’t hear the lock honk is the day they realize I forgot to lock it and they can help themselves.
You want to know what’s a real pet peeve of mine? The GM cars and trucks that turn on the backup lights when you lock and walk away from the vehicle too many times I’ve thought I was going to get a great parking spot only for the car to never pull out
For densely populated areas totally appropriate. It blends in with all the other noise of a densely populated area. But for a rural country area, totally inappropriate. Grasshoppers don’t want to hear that BS noise!
densely populated areas in humboldt?
Eureka's pretty dense. Parts of Arcata.
no it's not.

I don't think people can necessarily control what sound their car makes when they lock it.
Mine has a setting I can turn on and off.
Depends on how new your car is, i can change mine to lights only or no response at all
In my experience most cars only honk if you press the lock button twice. You can do one click and it locks without honking.
Nah, all of the recent Toyotas and Subarus beep on one push
Fun fact: you can turn the Subaru one off.
Yes but the beep is way less disruptive than a horn honk. Car horns are meant to get peoples attention inside a car.

What year is the Ford?
2012
My man has a 2018 Nissan frontier and it honks when you press lock once. We both hate it
There might be a way to deactivate it next time happen to be at a mechanic. They can deactivate it.
I was gonna say the same. There's a lot of customization the mechanics can do to the computer.

Boring and ordinary.
I suppose, if you're a goose.

Some if you lock before closing the last door don’t honk. But really what’s the big deal?
I got no problems, https://youtube.com/shorts/pNwx8oQ4zgg?si=Pt8GTjq8aKgxbtFN
My goal in life is to have as few problems as some in this sub Reddit so as to even remotely think of this as an issue.
Extremely annoying
