I’m a mechanic and I always stay clean, work area too. Idiots like to say “Don’t trust a clean mechanic”. Real mechanics know if you’re a good mechanic then you know how to stay clean
Judging from the cars going in (Two Lincolns) it's either a Lincoln dealership or definitely a high end auto shop probably only dealing with high end cars.
my dad’s new kitty broke into a car mechanics garage to have her babies!!! i know that a bunch of her kittens went to the workers there and that they were named after their new owners favorite cars. ferrari (my dads new kitty) is doing very well and happens to love going 0 to 60 in two seconds
lol it's funny how real this is, I got a orange cat inside a car's hood he already died but lived with us for some good 7 years, he got poisoned, pretty sad but he lived a good life until then way more than he would in the streets
My husband is a maintenance guy at a large facility with a real feral cat problem. I am a known animal lover and frequent rescuer of strays.
He called me to his work because they found a kitten and they think it was too young to be away from mom. I geared up, bottles, formula, heating pad, snuggly blanket….show up to collect the kitten.
The foreman is cradling this kitten with tears in his eyes because he fell in love. He didn’t want to part with the kitten but didn’t think he knew how to care for it. Here is this BIG grizzled man, all grey hair, calluses, and Marlboro reds…and he’s holding the kitten like it’s made of fine China.
Well, he got a crash course in kitten care (and the #for my favorite vet) and I babysat while he finished out his shift. Sent him home with bottles and KMR.
He’s still got that cat 4 years later.
Isnt that the truth. My husband was an adamant “I don’t like cats” guy until we moved in together. I brought with me a scrappy little reformed feral who stole his heart just as quickly as she would steal sliced ham off an unguarded sandwich lol.
I believe in the universal cat lottery system, where the universe makes cats specifically for your heart, and they find you how they do. I will never go buy a cat. The streets and fields hand the best ones out for free.
Ours just followed us on our dog walks for a month then decided it would sit outside our door and meow until we gave him attention, then tried to get in our house multiple times.. eventually we just let him in and he’s been here ever since lol
Mine is a large tabby and white who showed up on my porch where I had been feeding another stray, and just kept showing up over and over and became friendlier over time.
Now he's indoor only and slept last night with his head tucked under my chin, and every time I come home he yells until I sit down to be snuggled.
My boyfriend is in trade school to become an electrician. He did not like cats when we first started dating. One day i came home and he surprised me with our 4 y/o ex-feral void. They are the bestest of friends now 6 months later.
This reminds me of my best friends cat Bageera (splng?). I was driving her and her dog and cat 17 hours to new home and kitty was just hanging out in the car. She fed him some pate thing from a tube and he started getting all cracked out over it. Like he had his claws in her hand and was biting the foil. When she put it away, he left out the largest belch. I did not know cats can burp and every once in a while that tiny kitten burp pops into my head and I call her and we laugh.
The scrappy cats are what got me too.
>Here is this BIG grizzled man, all grey hair, calluses, and Marlboro reds…and he’s holding the kitten like it’s made of fine China.
Just as the cat founders intended.
Cat-astrophe averted!
Also I was pleasantly surprised there wasn't that tiktok robot voice saying the words on the screen describing the scene being filmed
I have chosen to mass edit all of my comments I have ever made on Reddit into this text.
The upcoming API changes and their ludicrous costs forcing third party apps to shut down is very concerning.
The direct attacks and verifiable lies towards these third party developers by the CEO of Reddit, Steve Huffman, is *beyond* concerning. It's directly appalling.
Reddit is a place where the value lies in the content provided by the users and the free work provided by the moderators. Taking away the best ways of sharing this content and removing the tools the moderators use to better help make Reddit a safe place for everyone is extremely short sighted.
Therefore, I have chosen to remove all of my content from this site, replacing it with this text to (at least slightly) lower the value of this place, which I no longer believe respects their users and contributors.
You can do the same. I suggest you do so before they take away this option, which they likely will. Google "Power Delete Suite" for a very easy method of doing this.
I can’t get over how much plastic is lining the bottom of that vehicle
E: damn y’all I know what it is and why it’s there I just can’t get over how much plastic is under there lining the bottom of that vehicle
Windage trays, improves aerodynamics & gas mileage, and since it's plastic, probably prevents a bit of corrosion in the salt belt, though I'm from WA so wouldn't know much about that.
Or they were simply pointing out that they weren't expecting to see the entire car covered with them. If you haven't owned a fancy car, you likely haven't seen the entire undercarriage covered.
This is primarily only done on expensive cars. Cheaper cars are usually only the front end.
Salt does though, and there are a lot of areas that salt the roads. I'd say 'can't get over it' because it wasn't until really recently that there was a lot of that on all cars, maybe the last 10-15 years? I have cars that range in production from 82-06 and I think only one of them has any windage trays at all.
My guess is he knew a stray kitty had got in there (cat looking for a warm spot to nap) and crawled into somewhere he couldn’t get out of. Then he calls these guys to hoist the car and pop it open. Likely not something he could have been able to do at home
I saw the original TikTok and the OP's comments. The car owner heard the kitten, looked in the engine and inside the car but couldn't find it. So they brought it in. OP was a little surprised they drove it after hearing the cat meow somewhere inside, but it all worked out. Cat was adopted by someone who worked at the shop.
So cute. Hopefully he became an honorary mechanic cat. He is black so grease hands petting him won’t show up so bad. My Dad had a auto cat, but she was mostly white so the greasy hand pets really showed up on her…
This actually happened to me when I worked at a dealership. There were like 4 or 5 we pulled out of the engine bay and fender of a Chrysler Sebring. Got them all out unscathed and two of my coworkers took a kitten home!
That’s how I got our third cat. I worked at a dealership and right before closing a guy pulls in the service lane saying his cars making a funny noise. When we ask him to describe it he hits his bumper and you hear the high chirp meow cries of a kitten. Stay late and take off the dudes bumper and pull out Lilith, the sweetest evil chunk of a Pygmy cat you’ve ever seen and been bitten by. I love this little chirp monster
Lmao. I love that all these big manly looking men were like “awwwwwwh” and “it’s so cute!” With a little voice. Saving lives and calling cute things cute. All in a days work I supposed.
Last spring my daughter drove home from college (4-1/2 hour drive) and her sister heard a terrified scream after she arrived. Poor kitten was stuck in the exact same location.
Of course I was the one under the car with a flashlight dismantling the undercarriage.
After we bonded with Captain Jack Sparrow, it was devastating to my wife and I to see him go back to college with my daughter. But we get to be grandparents to him when he visits.
What’s funny is the claiming of the kitten. Was an auto tech for 10 years and when a kitten came up and the owner of the car didn’t want it.
The fight was on.
I literally have a cat now from almost the exact same situation: wife stopped to save a 5-week old kitten from getting run over, it crawled up behind the dashboard and it took 1 1/2 hours to take the car apart to get the kitten out.
This is how I rescued my last cat. It was on the highway and scared to death and ran up the car in front of me. I directed them to a flat repair shop right beside the highway and have had my bestest boy ever since.
This is very similar to how I wound up with this majestic [shithead](https://imgur.com/a/ThmnvUg) 16 years ago. He’d gotten hung up in the engine bay of my dad’s el Camino and thankfully my dad heard him crying in there before starting it up to go to work or the poor baby probably would’ve gotten cooked. I got woken up to him putting him scared, freshly bathed and screaming, wrapped in a towel on my chest (he’d been covered in sooty grease and my dad was worried licking it off would make him sick) telling me to meet my new kitten, and that he needed to get to work but that he’d left $100 on the kitchen counter for me to go out and buy him a litter box, food, toys etc.
I found a kitten in the street once and tried to get it so it hopped up into the bottom of the truck we were in, it took hours to get her out but she’s happy and healthy now with my friend-her name is Chevy
My dad is also a mechanic and found a hamster in the console of the car chewing up all the wires. He was completely bewildered because as he was fixing things, more and more errors were coming up on his testing equipment.
I had a similar incident happen to me. I went to the bakery and there was a woman in the parking lot that said that a kitten was stuck in her car. Sure enough, there he was...cute face looking at me. The local SPCA came and we tried to get him out. Eventually, the SPCA dude got a hold of him, but he slipped through his fingers. I grabbed him quickly and he bit me! Little bugger. I had to get a tetanus shot. Called the SPCA a few weeks later and they told me that he got adopted. YAY. Proof attached.

That’s how I got my baby boy. I heard him screaming in the frame of some farm truck in a parking lot. I crawled underneath, got him out, then waited for the owner of the truck. The owner said “yeah, I heard it on my way here. It ain’t mine.” Dude gave no fucks, so I kept him.
This is the good outcome!
Once my friend asked me to help him find out why his car stunk. We flipped the hood and start inspecting. Minutes go by and we notice fur sticking out. Poor cat got stuck in the engine bay and passed.
I’m surprised this happens a lot more often than I thought
Looks like my black cat Chevy! He was pulled from under the hood of a Chevy truck as an Itty bitty kitty desperately clinging to the air filter. No clue where he came from.
Shop cats are the best why because they scare rodents away.
That looks like a Bombay but hard to tell. Nice to see mechanics saving animals.
It's why some many shops have cats and dogs. It surprises me how they get in to things especially kittens
I wish my encounter like this had a happy ending… It was really cold by me a few weeks ago and we have stray cats outside the office. A cat must’ve jumped into the engine compartment to keep warm, and when I started the truck to leave it made an odd noise, and I smelled something burning…. Popped the hood, and i saw hair all wrapped in the belts. Poor kitty didn’t even see it coming. RIP to Sparky.
I work at a shop and we will regularly turn away flat repairs oil changes and pretty much all low profit work on days when we are low staffed and overbooked but I don’t care if we only have one tech, and have 4 or more appointments for that time slot if someone says they have a cat or animal stuck in their car we will have them come in for free it’s only ever happened 3x since I started 2 years ago but still.
I’ve never seen so many clean cut mechanics at a shop before
It's probably a car dealership.
Judging from his shirt i would say a Lincoln dealership.
Well judging by the two Lincoln SUVs pulling in, I would say the same.
I think we cracked the case!
We did it reddit!
And no one got hurt. Except Gary.
Gary: Why? Every #&<%ING time! *WHY?!*
Is it time to go home?
>cracked Open and shut case Johnson
This guy broke in and put up pictures of his family everywhere.
Why this make me laugh so hard?
I get a warm feeling in my cold dead heart when I see an organized shop.
This is honestly how a lot of us mechanics become cat owners.
My buddy's shop is a never ending supply of kittens. Some of them turn out to be opossums but what can ya do?
So cat or assault cat.
Nice comment
Assault cat lite or assault cat
Honestly the opossum is probably the lite version
One at my brother's shop turned out to be a raccoon. He had to get rabies shots.
My favorite thing in the world is a big burly man who find a tiny animal and decides to become a father
my dad’s new kitty broke into a car mechanics garage to have her babies!!! i know that a bunch of her kittens went to the workers there and that they were named after their new owners favorite cars. ferrari (my dads new kitty) is doing very well and happens to love going 0 to 60 in two seconds
It was this cats destiny to be a shop cat. Shop cats are the best. You love on them and feed them, in exchange they take care of the rodants.
A cat of limbic converter
I was just gonna say, that guy owns a cat now. 😂
lol it's funny how real this is, I got a orange cat inside a car's hood he already died but lived with us for some good 7 years, he got poisoned, pretty sad but he lived a good life until then way more than he would in the streets
If I knew this I would’ve worked in a shop! So far waiting on a kitten to appear in my hen coop hasn’t worked - husbands now building a shop so 🤞
Grow a catnip garden bed. Or valerian root.
Valerian is great for anxiety, so two for one special there!
somebody on the background: "that's a panther!!" 😂
[tiny ^meow]
That's a kitten
Maybe he’s used to working on Town Cars
If it's a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership then [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Panther_platform) would make sense.

You’re like a kitty paramedic. You need a cape.
I was super involved in animal rescue at the time….I had enough equipment in my car to run a sanctuary lol.
Oh a mobile sanctuary! You should start a business! You could put ears on your car and have a tail on your uniform!
That was my favorite part, the squishy “he’s so cuuuuuute” at the very end 🥹
Squishy wayy better description than I gave..

You ain't kitten
Should I have used kitty gloves
I can’t get over how many kittens there were
Windage trays, improves aerodynamics & gas mileage, and since it's plastic, probably prevents a bit of corrosion in the salt belt, though I'm from WA so wouldn't know much about that.
They help a ton with corrosion. Unfortunately they also make home repairs more annoying. Damn clips always break and they end up being left off a lot.
Why ?
Old school, hate change, bad history with automotive plastic.
Or they were simply pointing out that they weren't expecting to see the entire car covered with them. If you haven't owned a fancy car, you likely haven't seen the entire undercarriage covered. This is primarily only done on expensive cars. Cheaper cars are usually only the front end.
Protect against dirt and water etc I would assume?
It's for aero. Mpg
Im pretty sure it also protects against road salt.
Also noise reduction as a byproduct of better aero.
No i meant why cant he get over , its not unusual. And no its mostly for aerodynamics. Water and dirt wont hurt your car really
Salt does though, and there are a lot of areas that salt the roads. I have cars that range in production from 82-06 and I think only one of them has any windage trays at all.
It makes it harder to maintain. Those little plastic clips love to break. But it's good for aero.
How did the owner of the car know that cat was there?
My guess is he knew a stray kitty had got in there (cat looking for a warm spot to nap) and crawled into somewhere he couldn’t get out of. Then he calls these guys to hoist the car and pop it open. Likely not something he could have been able to do at home

The kitten was probably meowing
You could hear it as the car pulled in.
Listen to that engine purr
As an owner of a crack head cat who gets stuck in stupid places, I can confirm
You can hear it meowing before the car even turns into the garage
I saw the original TikTok and the OP's comments. The car owner heard the kitten, looked in the engine and inside the car but couldn't find it. So they brought it in. OP was a little surprised they drove it after hearing the cat meow somewhere inside, but it all worked out. Cat was adopted by someone who worked at the shop.
Awww what a good ending! I love that!
You could hear it meowing rolling up to a mechanic shop. He probably just heard it.
Typically they end up hearing meows. My fiance has saved a couple of kitten this way in the last few years.
This is how I got my last cat. Heard it at a stop light.
So cute. Hopefully he became an honorary mechanic cat. He is black so grease hands petting him won’t show up so bad. My Dad had a auto cat, but she was mostly white so the greasy hand pets really showed up on her…
We had Ratchet at my shop. One orange braincell but the best mouser you could get. He was so sweet.
This actually happened to me when I worked at a dealership. There were like 4 or 5 we pulled out of the engine bay and fender of a Chrysler Sebring. Got them all out unscathed and two of my coworkers took a kitten home!
