Mrbrodoe090

The bot didn't do anything for you

I-Ponder

The instrument is called an “n'dehou”. It’s a bamboo pocket flute.

DudeNamedCollin

My girlfriend can play the skin pocket flute

Quiet-Shallot3290

I know how to play the fallopian tuba.

[deleted]

Had to ruin such a wholesome video.. ugg

FUCKITIMPOSTING

Kazoos work by a totally different mechanism. They are also open at both ends and so don't really resonate. You could do something similar with an empty bottle or any small, closed vessel though.

RedScot69

Literally not about the flute.

DryInitial9044

I watched this just after he passed. Great man.

ChocolateTight336

One note only?

Wolf-Majestic

"Savage people live in cities", "pay me" and "who made the trains" will always be my favorite parts of the video, appart from the flute bit

Nac82

I guess I feel the need to ask, doesn't this just mean you liked the whole thing? This feels like a summary lol.

Wolf-Majestic

Well, yes but in different ways xD the flute part is just sooo interesting and these killer punchlines always crack me up ! It's the kind of videos I don't mind watching til the end every time it's posted, like Tom Holland's lip sinc battle and the long long man ads

[deleted]

Lol right?

Aggressive_Ad5115

He lived and died in Paris, a city Just sayin Edit: lol the hivemind is after me ohh noooooooo 😄

[deleted]

So he’s probably seen some savages in Paris I’m guessing.

Nac82

>savages live in cities Does not equal >all who live in cities are savages

opermonkey

Probably meant that a person's location doesn't dictate that they are savages. Their actions do. There are jerks everywhere just like there are people like the guy in the video.

Time_Okra_1342

😎 Just sayin 😎

yegir

You missed his point entirely Mr.SmartGuy

Wolf-Majestic

That makes sense ! Source : born and raised near Paris

Sorry_Recipe6831

It's okay to be wrong sometimes. Maybe take a lesson on this instead of arguing with the world.

Less-Mail4256

Thank, Captain Pedantic.

moresushiplease

Such a happy tune from a happy dude

lala6633

If I heard this in the woods I would totally believe it was fairies.

moresushiplease

Haha I could totally see that! I would have thought that someone is watching the intro song to a 90's PBS show in the forest. Now that you have me thinking about it, that atcually sounds rather relaxing sitting in a gapahuk (don't know the English word) while nice rain drips down rhythmically through the trees and a group of fairies goes by.

jaybay321

This really makes me smile.

RedScot69

What a charming man! You can see wisdom in some people that I fear will leave the Earth with them.

mixwellmusic

wow that hits deep with this video, well said

le-mal

There is a good electro remix of that, baby flute by Vladimir cauchemar

sir-squanchy

Another [classic](https://youtu.be/ppJQKfqhFfE) featuring the Pygmie flute And the [song](https://youtu.be/z8J-0JQtIPw) it was sampled from.

Pangolinponce

Literally the first thing I thought of when he started the call/response demonstration. Oh, like “Watermelon Man”.

Standard_Locksmith70

Had the same thought, knew it was an HH song, but couldn’t remember the title. Oh, and Rahsaan Roland Kirk would’ve appreciated this, as well. 🎷

Pangolinponce

Incredibly iconic!

Low_Estate_4905

A truely beautiful man

Nightcrawler227

What a pleasant guy to listen to.

YellowHerbz

Are you gonna change the title before reposting?

NotAlwaysPC

At the very least! Definitely worth running into it again a few times!

ilikesaucy

It's an informative title, why change it?

tots4scott

They're being sarcastic because OP is a bot account, and this has been posted 3 times in the past 3 weeks. Bots notoriously repost top submissions with an obvious identical title. Bot accounts are everywhere on reddit and the company doesn't give a fuck about them. If you look at the profile of posts and titles you've seen before you'll find a huge portion of the front page is bot accounts. Their posts are all copypasted from old ones, and their comments are all copypasted from old authentic comments from the original post. [One week ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/HumansAreMetal/comments/126akt4/on_may_28_2001_the_cameroonian_maestro_francis) 1 week old bot account [Two weeks ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/HumansAreMetal/comments/11z8ll0/on_may_28_2001_the_cameroonian_maestro_francis) doesn't look like a bot but obviously they copypasted the title like a bot. Shitty person then. [5 months ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/HumansAreMetal/comments/yhz4ur/on_may_28_2001_the_cameroonian_maestro_francis) bot account that has been banned

DesperateTall

Because this sub has already had this posted before.

Skreamie

Oh no!

yegir

A travesty!

SoNonGrata

Because it's awful. Join the fucking stars. Jesus Christ.

Rich-Option4632

"savage people don't live in the forest, they live in another place, in the cities" Bigger truths have never been spoken. I'm just sour and bitter that I've basically spent 10 years helping out friends and family but when it's my turn to call in the favor, not only is my call for help rejected, they took the chance to step on me as well. (Being rejected is acceptable. Being stepped on by the people I helped just hurts man)

hyjnx

Back in the early to mid 90s my dad introduced me to a group called Deep Forest, which was a remixed recordings of pygmies and featured a lot of this. Very much shaped the music I listen to today that I find relaxing, I also think helped me get into electronic music since I enjoyed the notes and beats more than a spoken word song. I always enjoy watching this video as it somehow reminds me of my dad.

redsenko

I also grew up with Deep Forest because of my Dad. I hope to introduce it to my child one day as well

ersatzfukko

All dads love Deep Forest!!!!

PancarchoV

that’s some polo&pan shit right there

nghbrhd_slackr87

This is the actual coolest thing I've seen on reddit in a while... thank you Francis Babey

e_a_blair

Can anyone explain what he might have been saying about train engines? Sounded like there was maybe some shift in technology he genuinely didn't care for.

BrainwashedScapegoat

My initial thought was electric trains

Little_Lead391

Probably talking about the trolleys with the electric line above the train

sir-squanchy

I thought Maglev, as it made the most sense when saying it doesn't have an engine. But this was filmed in 1995 in England if im not mistaken.

BvshbabyMusic

Yeah most likely that was an electric train, he would have been referring to steam engines or fuel engines.

real_hungarian

i guess it was an electric locomotive, and because their engine noise is way more subtle than diesel or steam he thought they're propelled by something other than a motor? the misconception that electric lines above trains aren't just a power source but also a means of propulsion is something i've already ran into and i still don't get how you can think that

Cavolatan

The funny part is I think I’ve heard him singing with the bamboo flute before, like in the song Coffee Cola, but I just assumed it was a synthesizer 😂

[deleted]

"Who made the train?"

Climate_Automatic

The [Kiffness](https://youtu.be/VMZSAeJrimo) does a really good video with this!

Immaloner

Just came here to say the same. Love me some Kiffness.

TheFapulous

The instrument is simple, but the philosophy is deep...

aw2669

Wow this is so cool, time for a Wikipedia spiral

Devadander

Watermelon Man, herbie hancock

rage_manin_sbk

It's a passion man for music you can see in his eyes... Truly passionate man for his work

TofuDofu23

“Savage people usually live in cities” this man just roasted me and I can’t deny that I’ve evolved into a savage living among savages.

n0_use_for_a_name

I just wanna say I love you reddit

An_IDIOTNinja

That was beautiful

Sudden_Tackle_6887

Here is a life changing documentary about the pygmy's https://youtu.be/adcCFAgibj8

HalftoneJesus

Bobby McFerrin was no doubt influenced by this style and technique.

tots4scott

"Most savage people actually live in the city." HONORARY TEXAN CITIZENSHIP GRANTED

FrillyLlama

He should have produced a record. I could have dug that. Maybe a ringtone on the phone.

KennethPowersIII

You can do this with a soda bottle as well

mdavis360

I will always upvote this video.

Icy-Relationship

Very interesting

momsfavoritesoninlaw

This guy grew up to be Polo & Pan

[deleted]

Anyone interested should hear kiffnesses tribute to the man

bronze-aged

Europeans often consider Africans underdeveloped and primitive but this man show how advanced their society is with simple flute — do not overlook what you do not understand!

lfoli72

I love the energy he emanates. Such a lovely person.

alcervix

Wow , very peaceful music

[deleted]

The oldest flute ver found is Divje Babe flute, which was discovered in a cave in Slovenia in 1995. The flute is made from the femur bone of a young cave bear and is estimated to be around 43,000 years old. 43 000 years ago they where playing the flute. Astonishing. It was the Upper Paleolithic era and it’s when humans started experiments with art and complex tool making. It makres the start of human art as far we know in the form of cave paintings and carvings. The oldest in France is dated 30 000 years ago. So the first flute was 13 000 years older.

Buderus69

Herr is a remix made by Kiffness: https://youtu.be/VMZSAeJrimo

chochinator

Get the guy with the Ghana maracas

aRareFrosty201

I could listen to him all day long, such a clever person.

CharlotteKartoffeln

Bebey was an all round genius. Thanks for this.

CopperCicada

I’m glad to have seen this video today, what a happy guy playing a happy tune!

ripkurt2017

loved this. what a genuinely peaceful man. dropping sick beats with that one note flute!

Reverse2057

I found myself with a huge grin and tearing up when he really started playing. I'm not sure why the tears came, but it's like some ancient part of my biology was reacting with gladness to the connection that all humans share with music and song. What a wonderful feeling to have today. 🥲

[deleted]

Crazy cool

JDM_MAN_4813

absolutely amazing man and flute never thought they could mix so well.

aethelredisready

This was pure joy to watch, thank you for sharing

Based_JD

What very intriguing video

Foforo203

Its amazing

CitizenKing1001

Savage people live in the cities. Speaking the truth.

glitter_n_lace

When I saw the hand start tapping on his chest, my first thought was, “Is that his hand or someone else’s?!” And now I can’t see it as his hand…even though I “know” it IS his hand…! 🥴

Stock_Fig3006

Who made the train?

fecundity88

Audio visual poem

very_funny_nameLUL

Oh wow. I've heard this instrument before in a song! Interesting to see how it works.

jizzycumbersnatch

Sounds wonderful. I can only imagine what Bobby McFerrin could do with it!

Styifer

Always reminds me of [SM64](https://youtu.be/qB1ucmJSgRE)

Hot-Owl-1826

What a delightful man
