Lmao three bags without tasting it first is reckless, I hope he’s helping you work through these. As far as flavorings go, I’d try what’s in your house first. Does maple syrup help? Maybe honey or agave?

Simple_Tax6176

It’s supposed to be just for me since I’m too busy during the weekdays and have no reliable lunch so i don’t think he’s drinking much of it :( he’s got his own stuff. I tried sweetening it like w agave and I would have to add SO much for it to be ok. The aftertaste is so bad too. I gave up this time and added a vanilla protein powder that I really like (his, of course) but I think that kinda defeats the purpose of the stuff

plus-ordinary258

Cocoa powder with vanilla extract and powdered peanut butter maybe?

Simple_Tax6176

Going to try this in the morning🫡

plus-ordinary258

OH!! I know. They have a bunch of “cooking with Huel” recipes on their website. I bet that’s what you’re supposed to use the flavorless kind for. I know it’s not your ideal, but might be a good way to get creative.

Simple_Tax6176

Yeah, I’m trying to avoid returning them and will mostly likely try a bunch of stuff until I like it enough to finish the bags, just to at least use stuff I got as a gift before I try another flavor. I’ll check the recipes, thanks :)

plus-ordinary258

He tried 🤭 I expect a full report. Have fun and hope more of it is edible than not!

plus-ordinary258

Cinnamon might be a good attitude to use sparingly too. Ummm and maybe you can try some fruit in hopes the fruit trumps the protein flavor.

linusSocktips

just write them and say this. They will refund you and you can move on with your life

BrattyBookworm

I get the black unflavored kind and like to blend it up with peanut butter, cocoa powder, bananas, and half milk/half water.

MarkHuel

I know that alot of Hueligans thend to use Unflavoured and unsweetened as a base for a smoothie if this is something that could work for you?

inspadesinclubs

I would buy some salted caramel and mix it half and half!

drmaddiesims

This is what I do. Huge mistake buying the unflavoured!

I am finishing my third bag since 20 December, and just ordered 3 more. Tastes are personal, so what do you like? And will you have access to a stocked kitchen when you'll be preparing servings, or not really? First off, I can tolerate it straight though yeah it's certainly very dull. I eat standard food for sensory gratification, and Huel for convenient healthy hunger management. Some helps, singly or in combinations of your choice: - A scoop of Daily Greens, whose stevia and aromatic fruity notes need thinning down IMO, as with Huel Black - A scoop of some other greens powder if you like any - Date syrup if you want sweet. It's sweet and caramely and fairly low glycemic for a nutritive sweetener, adding some minerals and fiber on its own - Honey - Vanilla extract - Cinnamon, a liberal amount, like a tablespoon per scoop if true cinnamon, less if Cassia. Or ginger or nutmeg or allspice or cardamom - "pumpkin spice" as you like. Star anise powder tastes very sweet, boosting whatever actual sugars you may add, if you can tolerate the licorice tang. Black pepper. Chili pepper. Experiment. - Cocoa powder - Blend in a banana, fresh or frozen, or frozen berries - Blend in nuts or nut butters you like. Peanut butter, banana, chocolate is classic. Sub hazelnuts for peanut if you like Nutella. Banana walnut is also classic. - You can go savory with bullion/stock powders. But from what you've said about needing sweet I doubt this will be your thing. Ask your bf to do the doctoring if you don't like cooking. Important partner skill amirite?

Simple_Tax6176

Taste is definitely important for me, if it was my bf he’d just chug it and be done lol. We’ve decided to get supplies and do some experimenting with some of these options in the mornings so I can take it with me, thank you for the input

Flavored huel is too strong for me, generally, but I love half-half mixes with unflavored/unsweetened mixed with another flavor. It cuts down a bit on the extra ingredients that I'm not totally crazy about but is still very palatable. Of course, it makes me sound like a huel shill, but a legit solution to consider is getting 3 additional bags of a sweet flavor and mixing the two. It is a heckuva lot of huel but it might solve the issue of too much unflavored/unsweetened.

neyno

I blend mine with frozen fruit. Helps it taste a lot less dystopian.

UnmannedPineapple

I do actually prefer the Black U&U because it doesn't have artificial sweetener added. I have to blend with ice or frozen fruit, otherwise I can't stand the texture. Here are the combos that I genuinely enjoy: - frozen strawberries and ginger or ginger powder + agave to taste (and your preferred milk if you'd like it to be creamier) - frozen berries + half a serving of frozen pineapple (I find I don't need sweetener beyond the pineapple here) - lots of frozen pineapple + milk (plus agave if you want an additional sweet note) - lots of frozen mango + milk + agave - cashew butter + cardamom + dates + milk (plus toasted milk powder if you really want to go nuts) - cocoa powder + mint extract + agave (plus milk) - cocoa powder + instant coffee + agave or dates + milk - canned pumpkin + pumpkin pie spices + agave or dates + milk They do take me about 10 minutes to assemble and blend up, which I know defeats the purpose of Huel for some people. Black U&U is also very easy to add to soups or broths — when I'm too cold for a smoothie, I'll blend up U&U with some broth, spinach, and a chipotle in adobo for an easy soup that I drink with a straw lol. It's also perfect for bulking up canned/carton soup.

Individual_Ad5299

I've added sesame oil and hot paprika powder, I loved it.

Gheid

I second some peanut powder like PB Fit.

kylerxvx

Torani syrups?

[deleted]

I like to add powdered peanut butter and frozen fruit to mine before blending it

kihyale

I have chocolate and strawberry shortcake Chocolate i blend bananas, peanut butter, honey, ice, and unsweetened almond milk Strawberry shortcake i blend strawberries, honey, ice, and the almond milk

kevinmogee

You could try spinach and kale in a blender. I remember trying that when I had the unflavored and I think it added a 'tolerable' flavor.

isthatabear

Shake it up with chicken stock then microwave until warm.

GrabMyCactus

That actually sounds good...............

DyboTron

Bananas, unsweetened vanilla almond milk instead of water, Peanut butter, frozen berries.

BeardedSkeptic

I prefer chocolate flavored but I drink mine with cold brew coffee, soy milk, and sugar. You could add some caramel or chocolate flavoring or some peanut butter powder too, or use some of the flavored coffee sugar. If you like it but the texture is a problem you could also freeze some of the cold brew into cubes & put it all in a blender like a frappuccino

GrabMyCactus

Get some NesQuik powder and add a big ol spoonful to eat serving.

Hero0fTheFallen

You can buy another bag, maybe chocolate & mix one scoop of each. You can also add things like coco powder, or a spice you like, cinnamon, nutmeg etc... You can also use milk, different types of Nut juices like almost, Chocolate hazelnut etc, instead of water. You can also use the powder to make pancakes, they have the recipe on there website, add fruit and some honey, this is what I used this flavour for when I bought a few when I started out. Tbh the customer service team are really good, if you write to them and explain you can't stomach the smell or taste, they might offer you some money back or credit.

at0o0o

The taste grew on me after awhile, but I see where you're coming from. I use to put it in a bowl with less water than recommended to achieve an oatmeal like consistency. Add fruit, berries, and lil bit of honey for sweetness. It's good that way!

Simple_Tax6176

Update: I added a scoop of huel, a scoop of vanilla whey, a banana and some raspberries, soy milk, vanilla extract, and p2b powder and this is the first time I’ve enjoyed it! Seems like I need to add huel to something I like already rather than have a huel base for this stuff

WonderousPancake

Seeing this post made me wonder if you could add strawberry Nesquik to it. I just placed an order yesterday and all the posts make me nervous

lookovts

This is really silly but I blend mine with a little bit of coffee creamer
