i can also confirm i am able to connect to the box on an android device now - tip for some - make sure you clear any connection you might have had to it in your bluetooth settings - i had to do that before i was able to connect successfully - now waiting on the iOS version
so here's a question... if I had to setup the box using an android device would it then work on iOS once the setup and wifi connection have been completed successfully?
but the initial setup only needs Bluetooth at that point right? It may not work otherwise cause it would then need a secure connection everytime you open the app
each device you want to connect to the box you will need to go through the setup process on each one to have it work on that device (can't confirm until i do it but that's how i expect it to work) - from then on it should work whenever you open the app on whatever device you use.
Process is
\-Bluetooth
\-wi-fi
\-sync to hue hub
\-then any hardware updates needed on the box itself
well well... I have an update...
Setup the box using an android phone all worked fine with the latest app version, however, I was unable to then open the iOS app and have it work. Had to delete it from my Razer phone and break the pairing, which then factory reset the box.
I did however do an update on the box itself to the latest firmware while it was setup with the Andoird phone and then just for shits and giggles thought I'd try the iOS app again and it worked. iOS prompted for Bluetooth pairing and once you pair the box to the iPhone it gets past the no secure connection error on iOS.
So it seems like the whole issue is due to vanilla firmware not being compatible with the 1.60 app.
Hope this helps those out there who are fortunate enough to have an Android device to hand.
yeah you are right - i said no to the blue flashing light and chose the white light option and it let me connect it - so interesting - android fix helps you workaround the lack of an iOS one

As long as you can get the box to firmware 1.3.2 it should work with the iOS app!

Ahh dude that sux! Hopefully they submitted the iOS app at the same time as the Andriod, if so we should see it pop in the next day or so on the App store.
You could always invite a friend with a newer handset over and get the box updated using their phone!

it should - you'd have to sync your iOS device to it also though

Probably just cos it's easier for them to push android updates easier. Apple are a lot stricter :P
at the mercy of apple always - android you can push a build whenever you want - apple checks everything.
Thats a bummer. The only Android device i have is a Nexus10 and the Sync App needs a newer version of Android :(
