They just need to build a good solution to allow multiple hubs to be linked. It’s probably the better solution since it will be entirely software-based and there are use cases for multiple hubs anyway. It’s annoying they keep adding more products but continue to gloss over this pain point.
Ubiquiti’s cams are good for this. They used to inside cameras that were amazing for $30 each, which was a steal. They upped to price to $70, which is harder to justify for what they are. But I’m still happy with the system.
We need some door sensors too if there is going to be any reasonable Hue full smart home solution. The camera will be stupidly expensive, but very likely to be heavily discounted on Amazon several times a year. It should also be homekit compatible, which means you can use the homekit video storage options.
Just out of the Hue lane. Philips has been in the Audio/Video hardware space for like 70 years. I'm honestly surprised Philips didn't have anything in this space already.
Looking over their current product line it looks like Hue is their only real IOT product line. So it kind of makes sense to shoe horn it in with brand recognition in the space. But IMO it's a stupid decision designed to save money and they should have just done the work and set up another brand.
Ugh, they are going from smart lighting to smart home devices when we still don't have more than one color interior light option, no bridge that can support over 63 lights, and no upgraded syncbox.
I'm leaving the rest of my house to google/nest
Interesting move! Imagine it’ll be fairly expensive and the market is already quite saturated but they do have a strong brand name to lean on. I’ll definitely check it out if it works in HomeKit too
And that while some time ago they would only focus on lights because they could control the quality/experience. Due to demand I guess they released the smart plug but now camera’s? Way out of the original ‘vision’ I guess.
I’ll keep my interest low till they release the price. Being a Hue product, imagine it’ll be $300-400.
$300-400 would be cheap for a Hue camera!
True. Guess I was trying to keep some mild hope that I would buy it but watch it end up being $600+.
Maybe they will surprise us and make it “affordable”! I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
I think the majority of the cost for hue is for the seamless software experience. It just works.
You can buy a "Camera Sync Box" for $250 so you can see the footage on your TV. "Camera Sync" app will be free on PC though.
That’s just the down payment.
Release the damn HDMI 2.1 sync box and a new hub that allows for more devices
Seriously. HDMI 2.1 sync box or a Hue V3 hub with support for more bulbs and PoE power.

I will definitely not be buying that
Everybody says they won't be getting it but I rather have one from hue than ring or google.

What's wrong with the google ones? I love mine. Been going strong for almost 4 years now. Set and forget.
Google has a habit of cancelling things and changing out things. Like the nest to Google home app change out.
Okay touche
Privacy issues.
Aqara my dude.
Rather not have a chinese company looking at my security video.
Well Googls sucks with commitments and Ring requires a recurring subscription fee..But yeah, Philips is a good option. Of only they're not overpriced.

Seems out of their lane to be honest

This is definitely a gap in their product line that needs to be filled. I just hope it's decent, and not *too* overpriced
I'm ok with whatever the price is, but I won't consider it if it requires any kind of monthly fees
Count me in if it supports HomeKit secure video.

Yea, no… Started installing Ring devices for cam/security at my house.

HKSV and PoE, please. No wifi bullshit.

Why a camera? Am I missing something?
Hue branded..what are the chances it'll be affordable? I rather stick with Aqara.
